  • No sound from my windows 7 HP Pavilion g4

so, all of my sound options are on, but when i went to youtube it had no sound in the video that i had just watched the day before, and it had sound then, but when i look, youtube has all of the sound options on too. i dont really know whats going on, all i know is that i absolutely NEED my sound back and i will not do a system recorvery. i tried to troubeshoot by going into the sound playback stuff and it either said that it didnt find a proble or my sound was too low to hear. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

    Hello,
Is the issue just with YouTube or does no found function?
If it is just YouTube you may need to check the sound settings for that browser. You can check that by right clicking on the sound icon in the system tray and choosting open volume mixer while YouTube is also open. There check the browser sound to see if it is muted or turned low.
If it is all sound that is not working you can reinstall the sound driver via HP.com (I do not know your speific model so cannot give a direct link) or through HP Recovery Manager.
How to for Recovery Manager: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01868333&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en

  • Suddenly no sound from speakers and only from headphones

    Hello,
    I have a HP 8440p VQ664ET#ABU Elitebook laptop running Windows7 64bit pro.
Since today I'm experiencing the following problem:
    1) no sound is heard through speakers when headphones are disconnected.
    2) If I connect the headphones, the sounds are heard correctly through them: this is the expected behavior
I don't think it's a speakers hardware problem because I can make the speakers play sounds for one or two seconds like this: while a sound is being played, such as music file for instance, if I move up and down the headset volume cursor (regardless if headphones are connected or not) I can hear the played sound through the laptop speakers for a few seconds, after which the speakers mute again.
    So to summarize:
    1) Headphones disconnected: no sound from speakers
    2) Headphones connected: sound from headphones
I rebooted, suspended and restored without any luck so far.
I'm under the impression that there might be a problem with the headphone jack: it is like the laptop always thinks that the headphones are connected and therefore cuts the output to the speakers.
    Any clues?
    Thanks
    Sergio

  • No sound from speakers or headphones on my hp pavilion dv6-6c50us

no sound from speakers or headphones on my hp pavilion dv6-6c50us.  Speakers are not muted and volume is up.  May have happened after a system update

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the relevant IDT Audio installer on the links below and save it to your Downloads folder.
IDT Audio Installer - Windows 7.
IDT Audio Installer - Windows 8.
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

    Hi @satyakam
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are enjoying your sound  from everything today. I am happy to help.
If you have a sound application installed along with your sound driver, then I would check the settings for the speakers and headphone in that application.
Then I would make your headphone the default device when it is plugged in.
To make headphone as the default device
    1.    Click on Start; Go to Control Panel.
    2.    Click on Sound.
    3.    Switch to Recording.
    4.    Select your microphone/headset as the default device.
    5.    Save the changes by clicking on OK.
Also you can Uninstall and re-install your audio device drivers, to do that:
    1.    Click on Start; in the start search type “devmgmt.msc” without quotes and press Enter.
    2.    Expand Sound, Video and Game controllers.
    3.    Right click on the audio component and then click uninstall.
With the driver uninstalled then download and re-install the driver from:
HP Pavilion g4-1121tx Notebook PC Drivers
Just be sure to select the correct operating system from the drop down, and click next, which will refresh the list of drivers below.
Let me know if that helped at all.

  • No sound from HP G62 laptop and can no longer get sound from speakers or headphone jack . USB sworks

have an HP G62 laptop.  I can no longer receive sound from speakers or from headphone jack.  If I plug speakers into usb - I will get sound.  Any ideas?

I don't think I have anything to offer that you haven't done. In Device Manager, Device status says "working properly" and you've reinstalled this driver.
Realtek Audio Driver for Windows XP
    Right?
The only other thing I know to do is restore the hard drive to its original factory fresh contents.

  • Clicking sound from speakers!

I have problem with sound but this is strange one and i can't find solution anywhere... I am pretty good with computers and i usualy find solutions on internet when i have problem but this is something i can't solve by myself... My laptop is HP 355 G2 and i have Windows 10 installed on it but the same problem was on Windows 8.1 too... So after clean installation of Win10 the sound was good and worked normaly for 2-3 days and now i only hear a clicking sound from speakers when audio is playing but the strange thing is that when i pick up laptop from the table the sound start to work for few seconds and then the clicking sound comes back again, so i suspect that this has something to do with accelerometer which is built  in laptop for hard disc parking in case of drop or something like that... I tryed to uninstal/disable driver for accelerometer but windows install it again emidiatly after reboot, i tryed clean install few times and problem apears again and again... I just don't know anymore what to try to do in order to solve this so if anyone know anything about this please help... And i forgot to say that headphone jack work normaly and when i plug the headphones or external speakers in headphones jack the sound works but the clicking sound still comes out from built  in speakers... Thanks in advance and sorry for my English, it is not my native language and there is no support forums on my native language witch is Serbian...

  • No sound from speakers, only subwoofer after restore to factory

I recently restored an HP pavilion dv7 back to factory settings using the built in hp restore. When it came back, sound will only play through the subwoofer. When I do sound tests, I hear both channels play, but they play through the one "triple bass reflex subwoofer" on the bottom of the laptop. Nothing coming from the two speakers in the front at all.
I have uninstalled the IDT drivers multiple times using the current drivers, the original drivers in the swsetup folder and many drivers in between from HP's ftp site. No luck. I'm pretty much out of ideas. It's clearly a software or driver issue as they worked before the reset but I have no idea what else can be done about it.
HP tone control is installed, the beats audio panel is visible, IDT audio shows up in appwiz. Ive seen a few forum posts about this same issue but nothing that ever seemed to get resolved.
Any ideas? I've included some screen shots of what I'm seeing

    Hi @etainw ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv7-4000  Notebook and issues with no sound from speakers, only subwoofer after restore to factory. Here is a link to troubleshoot the Subwoofer on Beats Notebooks. On the Enhancements tab, select the Bass Boost option, and verify the device driver is Enabled, this should help.
Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system at the time of purchase.
    Thanks.

  • Audigy 2 zs - moved pc from one room to another and now no sound from speakers (headphones

    As the title says,
I just completed moving my pc from one room to another. Low and behold I get no sound from speakers (just some stereo speakers with powered sub). I do get audio out of the headphones (fully disconnect headphones from front panel when attempting to get sound from speakers). I know this probably points to a faulty speaker setup but that's pretty straight forward and looks to be fine.
Anyone encounter this problem before or have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Mr. Jefferson, Thanks for the quick response!
A mystery!  Usually, it's easiest to have FiOS patched into your home's cable TV wiring, so I'm curious why you don't have a coax router that provides you with the ethernet (internet) jacks.  Some questions:
Do you watch TV from some other source (like satellite or cable TV) but are using FiOS only for Internet?
I have both fios tv and internet
You said 2 cables are going from your router to a box in the wall.  What are the 2 ports labeled on the router?
One of them is just the main "internet" port I guess you could say while the other is just one of the ports labeled 1-4 (plugged into #2 I believe)
Is there any labeling on the jacks on the wall box?  On the other box in your room?
On the wall box in this room theres labeling on the jacks on the wall box that says IN and OUT (in marker), while in my room there's the same box but with only ONE, unlabeled jack (I think there's supposed to be another jack but it seems to be closed/sealed off)
Do you know where the Internet jacks connect to? Like a patch panel or box somewhere in your garage or near where your FiOS/cable tv/phone service is?  Somewhere these cables have to terminate.
I believe they somehow connect to this box in my garage (did some research and I believe it's called the ONT? and there's another box below it which I believe is the battery)
    Hope this info helps!

  • A1000L IdeaPad No Audio Sound from Speakers

Our IdeaPad A1000L was working great for a while, but now it will not produce sound from the speakers.  At first I assumed I somehow had it set to silent even though the volume bar was all the way up.  I reset all my audio settings.  Then I realized the audio works fine from headphones.  I did a full reset on the tablet, and still no sound from speakers -- only from headphones.  I have read a similar thread where it was suggested that this might be caused by damage to the headphone port, but I rarely use headphones, and don't think I'd ever used them before with this device.  Still, I tried jiggling the headphone thing around in there like suggested and it's still not working.  When I look in there with a flashlight, it looks exactly like the inside of the headphone port on our other IdeaPad.  Is there anything else I can check/try before taking it in for service?

    Hello rkrohatgi,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing and the troubleshooting steps you have already taken.  It sounds like you are seeing a screen similar to this when trying to adjust the volume:
I recommend the following steps for an issue like this (you can skip any of the steps you have already taken):
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, followthese troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, please contact Apple Support.

  • Sound from speakers & headphones is monaural NOT stereo HP Pavilion TS 15 Notebook PC Win 8.1

My HP Pavilion TS 15 Notebook PC  is only 2 weeks old I found out soon after I got it that any test I do of the left and right speakers or headphones is not stereo.   When I click on the left speaker I hear the sound in the center and when I click on the right speaker I hear the sound in the center.  I have tried a test from the internet same results.   However, if I connect a bluetooth audio device then when I click on the left speak I hear the sound on the left only and when I click on the right speaker I hear the sound in the in the right only.  Also when I boot the computer with Ubuntu 13.10 there is stereo distinct sounds from either the left or right when I run the left right test.
At first and before I installed Ubuntu HP was sure it was a hardware problem and sent a tech out to install a circuit board which the headphone plug was on, thinking the jack was defective and mixing the left and right channels.   That didn't fix it.  I went to the Realtek website and ran their program which removed all traces of the sound driver and installed the newest one they had, didn't help.    Hp log into my computer and cruised around but found nothing wrong.   I have played with every sound setting there is, no change.   The final solution they suggest is to reinstall Windblows 8.1.  I really don't want to do this as I just did it to transfer from my win 7 notebook to this one using windows easy transfer.   FYI this computer is one HP sent me to replace the previous G6 Win 7 notebook which had unresolvable problems, worse than that this is the 3rd computer HP has send me to replace previous ones which each had their own set of unresolvable problems.  So I haven't had very good luck with HP computers!
Anyway I am left with maybe a couple possibilities.   1. Reload windblows, I cannot use easy transfer because it no longer works on win 8.1 (maybe file history will work though I'm not sure)   2. Try windows refresh which won't remove as much of what I have installed.   3. Maybe someone has experienced a similar problem and can share here.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Michael
    UPDATE:
HP wanted me to do a clean reinstallation of Win 8.1, sent me the disks to do it, but the disks were defective and wouldn't go on to the second disk.   I used the Disks I had made from the computer they worked and the reinstallation was completed.   That didn't resolve the problem!   They decided to send me a replacement computer.
The new computer is a  HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC with win 8.1 updated.   Same problem except the speakers seem to be in stereo but the headphone jack is still mono.   I chatted with HP last evening and was told this is a "Known problem and the fault of Windows 8.1"    Can someone tell me if this is true?    I have doubts but really want to know.
    Michael

Hp replaced this computer for me due to this problem, however, the Envy (dumb name) they sent me to replace it had the same problem.   I did fine a solution and here is the web address http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-PC-Sound-and-Audio/envy-17-headphones-in-mono-not-stereo/td-p/...
Read down a few posts for the solution by making changes to the registry.   But, my problem and the solution was with a win 8.1 computer and I do not know it it applies to Win 7.  Unless, you have the same sound card and driver, which I doubt.  If you haven't removed the sound card driver and reinstalled it with the one on the HP website do try that.
    Good luck.
    Michael

  • Upgraded window from vista to 7 on pavilion DV7 sound not working

Pavilion DV7 1468NR upgraded windows from vista 64 to windows 7 64 sound not working

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45073.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services.  Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
    Audio Service
    Multimedia Class Scheduler
    Windows Audio
    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.
