No sound from subwoofer with Audigy 2 va

No sound from Subwoofer.
Audigy 2 value soundcard is connected by analogue to a Sony receiver to 5. inputs, and it is hooked to a 5. speaker system. (5 sattelites and a subwoofer) There is no sound coming from the subwoofer when watching DVDs in 5., music (with CMSS) or games. So naturally it sounds awfull with no bass. (this system works ok with cd or dvd from the hifi). The audigy 2 value used to be connected to the creative inspire 5. speakers on my old computer and it worked fine. PLease help.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards
Mikael

Go to EAX panel and uncheck all effects. Now you should get 20% volume on the sub.
Go buy an ARTcessories HEADAMP, like I did, and?some cables/adapters from a Hosa distributor to boost your ctr/sub 3.5mm output of the 2zs.
Output levels way too low for subwoofer no matter what you can do. Regardless of the impedance load on the output.
I hooked up an o-scope and measured it, being the FCC certified tech I am since '7, now senior engineer for the USCG Academy ship simulators facility.

  • No sound from subwoofer str-dn1050

I have a new Sony STR-DN1050 Receiver matched with a SA-CS9 Subwoofer that emits a test tone correctly so appears it is setup right but when music is playing (or TV/Movies) there is no sound coming from the Sub. I have turned the levels up as high as possible and still notice nothing. I have also tried running through all the preset options in the menus without success. As mentioned - the test tone works fine and the receiver configuration is set up as per the correct speaker configuration in the receiver menu. The SSCS310CR speakers sound rather lacklusture with the depth I had hoped to recieve by have a subwoofer so any assistance would be appreciated.

Sorted - speaker settings were on "large"...needed to be on "small". Suddenly the sub does more than collect dust.

subwoofer doesn't make sound unless you have sound below 100hz (or the cut-off frequency you set). Could it be the cable, or what music you're trying to play just don't have any sound hit below the cut-off frequency.
You've just hit the nail on the head there.
It apears the test speaker function only works with the speakers and not the subwoofer because of the above mentioned reason.
Upon playing some very bass..y rap and dance music my subwoofer kicked into life... in fact so much so i nearly hit the roof.
    Thanks all for the replies.
Not sure about the cable your talking about... i'm using the onboard audio, anyways all is fine now.

  • No sound from straight behind (Audigy & 5

I'm using SB Audigy and 5. headphones. Is it normal in games (for example Quake 4, Doom 3, Half-Life 2..) that no sound can be heard STRAIGHT from behind? It's the same thing with external amplifier/speaker system. The sound from rear speakers are played more like from the sides than behind: when the source of the sound approaches from the side angle to "straight behind", sound diminishes to zero in rear (both speakers). Speakers/headphones are correctly connected and configured, it's been confirmed and tested with Windows Control panel audio settings & Creative Surround Mixer. I usually enable EAX in games' options.
Is there any way to get the sounds from behind to be played from both rear speakers?
Win XP SP2 and latest drivers.

youre iphone must be on silent mode. Please push down the button above to the volume rockers o the side of the phone to enter normal mode.If this doesnt work go to settings, sound and increase the volume.
    Thanks

  • Still no sound from speakers with X-Fi under VIST

    Update!
!!! This morning I tried moving my SB X-Fi to another PCI slot. After the move I booted into VISTA64 and the SB drivers were reinstalled by the OS. I then switched from my onboard sound device to the X-Fi and tested the speakers and for the first time I am getting sound out of my speakers. To me this would imply one of 2 things. Either the bios was not handling the first PCI slot correctly or the Creative drivers have a problem when the card is placed in this slot. I would rule out the first possibility since the card would work in this slot under VISTA32. Further when I moved the card I had to swap it with my ATI TV card which does work in this slot. My motherboard is an ASUS A8NE NForce4 Ultra with bios version 03. Well at least i am finally able to get this card functioning under VISTA64!!
!!! __________________________________________________ _____________________________________?I have tried many different installations of the SB X-Fi drivers but have been unsuccessful of getting any sound from this card through my speakers. I have been successful with VISTA32 but not with VISTA64. The latest attempt used the installation CD I purchased from Creative. Even after all the latest updates were installed I still had no sound.
I have posted my system configuration in a previous posting but did not get any advice from this posting other then the recognition that my configuration indicated I had 3 audio devices. On this last attempted installtion I had the Creative Labs USB modem disconnected and the Logitech Web Camera disconnected as well as the on board sound device disabled. This made no difference. I do have the latest BIOS isntalled for my mother board. Like indicated above I am able to get the SB X-Fi working under VISTA32. I primarily use VISTA64 simply because I believe it is the better of the VISTA versions interms of over all stability and performance. From device manager I viewed resource by type and the results are as follows:?Input/Ouput (IO)?[000000000000A000 - 000000000000A0F] Creative SB X-Fi?Interrupt Request (IRQ)?(PCI)6 Creative SB X-Fi?Memory?[00000000C4000000 - 00000000C4FFFFF] Creative SB X-Fi?[00000000C4200000 - 00000000C43FFFFF] Creative SB X-Fi?More info from System Indormation?I/O Port 0x0000A000-0x0000AFFF?PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge

?Help me get this sound card to work under VISTA64. Any further information you may need? Just let me know and I will try and provide. ThanksJohnMessage Edited by jrobinson on 07-08-20070: AM

Another update:?Later in the day when I went to use my computer I did not get any sound from my speakers. I have tried uninstalling the drivers and then reinstalling them, moving the SB X-Fi card to a different PCI slot and then back to the slot that it worked in this morning. I am unable to get any sound from my speakers. Another interesting note is that when it was briefly working the THX Console worked. Now when I try an open the THX Console it crashes. Also I notice when I open the open the Creative Console Launcher the speaker, EAX and other features are not functioning like they were when it was working. This seems to tell me that something is not getting initialized correctly. Alot of times after initial boot-up all I have available is the SPDIF output available, which I am not using. I either reboot which usually results in the speakers being available although no sound out of them or I disable then reenable the driver from the device manager to make the speakers available. I sure hope some one at Creative can provide an answer to my problem. ThanksJohn

  • I get only sound from left with 5.1 sound system on Satellite P100

    Hi!
    I have a P100-347 and a logitech 5.1 sound system.
The logitech 5.1 has 3 connection: 1 to be plugged to the Line-In, the other to be connected to the Line-out and the 3rd to be connected to the Microphone socket.
When using it on my desktop which has a random SIS sound card it works fine.
Yesterday I've connected it to the P100-347 but I only get sound from the Line-out socket. I have changed the sound preferences to 5.1 but it makes no difference... I only get sound from the Line-out. Is there any drivers update that I should do or is anyone aware of this and how can I fix it??
Just one more thing... With the laptop came this cd "Express Media Player Recovery CD", what is this? Is this something to be installed after runing the "Product Recovery CD" in order to install some drivers or whatever is in this cd comes with the Product Recovery CD as well? Does anyone knows?
    Thank you.

    Hi
There is no problem. As you said the notebook supports Line-in; headphone & S/PDIF jack and Microphone jack.
If you want to connect the HiFI or another device you have to choose the headphone & S/PDIF jack. Only this port provides the audio outputting.
The both another jacks provide only the function for signal (sound) receiving!
My notebook provides the same jacks and I have connected the notebook to HiFI (5 speakers) via Y-audio cable like this one:

  • No sound from subwoofer using 5.1 c

Right and left work fine when tested. No sound from center sub-woofer when set to 5. speaker mode. Speakers are Yamaha YST-MS20w 30watt. Worked fine on my old PCI 28 card.

Are you saying your sub. w. speaker is not amplified (is passive) either by internal or external amplifier? You should be using active (amplified) and not passive non-amp.) speakers.

  • "A How-To" on the steps to FIX the Problem of NO Sound Card DETECTION with AUDIGY 2 and Win XP

Note#: When restarting the PC each time, shut off the main power switch on the Power Supply then back on.
Note#2: You will need the Windows XP CD WITH the SP2 on it or have the download SP2 Install file from MS on your PC. I have it on CD.
    . Remove the sound Card
    2. Use the Removal/Un-installation Procedures for the drivers in Knowledge Base Under Windows XP Step by step. Restart to get all the files deleted in the Creative folder if necessary.
Here is the (Solution ID#) for the Uninstallaion found in the Creative.com Knowledge Base: SID72 "How to uninstall Sound Blaster drivers and applications?"
Alternati'vely, Click on the Sound Blaster Picture Box under the Knowledge Base Main Search Page and the article should be in the resulting list.
    3. Use the DCProSetup_.exe from http://files.trunetworks.com/utilities/
Use it carefully Selecting [Creative] then Check the box for Muntiple Cleaning Filters, and remove the Creative Audio Drivers by Clicking on Start.
    4. Go into the Registry by Typing Regedit in the Start>Run.. Menu
Navigate and remove the Entry for CTCMSGo.exe, it is running in the back ground otherwise and i believe it interrupts the re-installation of MediaSource Files.
    HKEY_CURRENT USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
The file link/tag, it will be on the right half of the screen, Delete it. CTCMSGo.exe=(Creative Technologies Media Source Go)
    5. Restart the PC, dont forget to switch Power Supply to off while powered down and on before powering back up.
6.Go to the Win XP SP2 CD or the file downloaded, select re-install but choose UPDATE, not New Installation. Let the Install run and update your pc, this procedure has no data loss or settings changes in Windows.
    7. Restart PC
    8. Turn off PC and install the Audigy 2 Card. Then turn on the PC. At this point you might get a plxcore.plx Error of file missing. Not to worry.. copy the file from within the Creative Drivers CD and paste it into the Creative Folder In C:\Program Files\Creative
The Knowledge base Article on the steps is: SID287 "Error: Program could not load because Plxcore.plx cannot be found"
    9. Power up and see if you get PCI Device, and Audio Controller Detetion. If you dont then do the following:
    A) Remove the Sound Card and Re-install the Win XP SP2 Update a number of times ( I did this about 5 times until detection) Each time restart and install the Sound Card into any of the empty PCI Ports until detection.
If that does not work after a number of times try the following:
B)Power off and switch the PCI slot of the Sound Card (to all the PCI slots if necessary with complete power off each time) Without Re-installing XP SP2 Update.
    0. After you get Detection, The Windows Auto Installer for Drivers will pop up..select Find Drivers Automatically, then Install then install the drivers it finds. It will put in some basic Audigy Drivers from the CD or online i'm not sure where it gets them from. Keep your Driver CD in the CD Dri've.
.Restart the PC, then install the Drivers and Media Source Files from the CD (it may not all get installed and may give an error and you have to shut down and re-install the drivers and Media Source over again and over again so it fills in the gap of missing files/drivers until it all works without deleting the previously installed parts).
    2. Only install this update from the File/ Downloads Section on the Creative website: EAX4DRV_AUDIGY2__84_50.exe Dated 29 July 04. The new beta one that was released is what started all my troubles, so plz i urge you to wait for it to be official.. unless you really want to test it out at your risk.
And there you have it.. in 8 Hours and some ideas from friends and relati'ves concerning detection problems of other hard ware they have had i decided to play Roulette all night and this combo works. I had to play Roulette switching the PCI slots (5 of them), and then towards the end play Roulette with the Creative Driver CD install... until they all work perfectly. WHEW!!!
Notice: I hope if you are really ticked off at having no sounds and want to try this at your own risk and responsiblity go ahead, and I wish you luck. None of the proedures are too out of the ordinary. I dont know if it will work for you but it worked for me and maybe it will possibly for other similar Sound Cards as well.. like ZS or Li've! etc. with similar problems. Happy Sound Blasting!!!
My Specs: P4 3.2Ghz Prescott on Intel D875PBZ MB, pqi GB PC3200 Dual Channel RAM, Win XP SP2, Plextor CD-R and DVD Dri'ves, BFG 6600GT OC 28MB and the Audigy 2 Sound CardMessage Edited by Flying_Ghost on 05-04-2005 09:38 PM

Thanks for pointing that out, it was not apparent on the day i used them and wrote the How-To. The links have been replaced with the SID# (Solution ID #) and the title given for the Article.

  • Sound while recording with audigy 2 zs plati

i have the audigy 2 zs platinum. i'm using the /4" line in 2/mic in 2 to plug my guitar into. i can hear the guitar fine until i hit the record button on my software. it records what i'm playing, and will play it back with sound, but, again, no sound while recording. i also noticed there's no "li've" sound during playback. i've checked connections, and installed the latest drivers for the card. i'm using adobe audition 2.0 to record. please help!

Sure. Selecting "Line 2" records the signal just after it has entered the main CL chip, and selecting "What you hear" records the signal after it has been through the mixer/effects DSP in that chip. It's likely that CL lowers the volume a notch to reduce the chance of clipping from mixing/effects processing. Note that the signals at that point are 32-bit, so that some additional headroom really doesn't lose you anything; all you need to do is to raise the recording volume a bit to compensate.
The card's unity settings are designed for 50% on the recording slider and 00% elsewhere (i.e. there is a 2x digital multiplier on the recording slider). You may get some useful insights from a page I have: <a href=http://pages.sbcglobal.net/hamakerd/sbsrc/ target=_blank>http://pages.sbcglobal.net/hamakerd/sbsrc/[/url] by following the Additional Information link at the bottom, and seeing my comments (under the General heading) about how I determined the recording volume settings I used in that testing.

  • Toshiba NB550D No sound from subwoofer

There was no sound play from the subwoofer of my nb550d (the speaker underside) although i turned the volume to maximum.
Any people met this problem and how can you fix it?
    Tks

    Hi mate
    What subwoofer do you mean?
The NB550 does not support any subwoofers
Some models are equipped with an speaker which is placed at the bottom of the unit but this is not a subwoofer this speaker emits sound generated by software as well as audio alarms such a low battery condition, generated by system
So usually you should hear just short beep sounds coming from this speaker.

  • Vienna sound font problem with audigy

HiI have "audigy LS" installed, but it is not compatable with the "vienna sound font".Which Sound Blaster sound card would I need, and would it be an improvement over my existing card. Thanks

I suppose that, all other models but Audigy LS and Value are SoundFont capable ... just check the Creative web resouces (product pages) or user's guides (support - produc documentation) for those cards you're interested in ... there'll you see a list of bundled software ... if you see soundfont bank manager software listed there then the card is (normally) SF capable but, if you also need a MIDI I/O for external MIDI keyboard Cntroller then, those systems w/ external I/O Dri've/Console are the only choices (from Creative brand) for you.
    EDIT:
If you have installed the Kontakt Player which comes w/ Sibelius software, you'll get better results w/ that compared to SoundFonts which ones comes w/ Soundblaster cards. To get some noticeable improvements into Sibelius sound quality, you need to buy some quality soundfont banks. Also, for Kontakt, you can buy some extra soundlibraries as like the GPO Garritan Orchestra Sibelius Edition and Pop & Rock Collection, which both adds plenty of quality instruments to choose from.

  • No sound from TomTom with Ford Bluetooth

I have connected the IP4s with the Ford Bluettoth system and when trying to use TomTom I get not TTS. But when I discount the bluetooth I get TTS from TomTom.
Has anyone had a similar problem and found a work around?

Go to EAX panel and uncheck all effects. Now you should get 20% volume on the sub.
Go buy an ARTcessories HEADAMP, like I did, and?some cables/adapters from a Hosa distributor to boost your ctr/sub 3.5mm output of the 2zs.
Output levels way too low for subwoofer no matter what you can do. Regardless of the impedance load on the output.
I hooked up an o-scope and measured it, being the FCC certified tech I am since '7, now senior engineer for the USCG Academy ship simulators facility.
