No Sound!!! HP Envy m6 windows 8

Please Help
My laptop was working perfectly, and then the sound just stopped working, both through the speakers and the headphone jack. I made sure volume was up in both youtube and in the laptops volume. Now whenever I click on the volume icon a couple times, it freezes. And whenever I try to test the speakers through the control panel, it freezes. A lot of applications that involve the audio settings usually end up saying "not responding". I tried redownloading the drivers, but maybe I did it wrong. It didn't help. I tried chatting on HP chatroom, but it got stuck on a step for half an hour. Please help me. I've looked thru the few other posts but they didn't help either.

Well, I tried a bunch of stuff, and finally got it to work...FOR NOW. Here's a few things I tried that might have helped...or made things more difficult. When I did the last step it finally started working.
I first tried doing a bunch of stuff through control panel, to check out the device, but it mostly froze.
I went thru HP Recovery Manager, and first tried reinstalling the driver. It didn't work, but may have caused something.
Then, thru the same place, I actually chose the option to System Restore. This may have caused it to start noticing a missing driver.
Right after I did this, I went to this official link, and downloaded the driver online and installed it. Now it works.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&softwareitem=ob-110553-1
After I did this, it works, but some wierd stuff did come up, but I couldn't really choose anything. Hope it works for now on, and I hope this helps others!

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update, select 'View update history' in the left hand pane and then select 'Installed updates' link in the following window.
Locate update KB2962407, right click it and select Uninstall.  When done, restart the notebook and when Windows has reloaded,  open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update and select 'Check for updates'.  You'll see the update you just uninstalled being offered again - right click and select 'Hide Update'.
After this you may or may not need to delete and reload the Audio driver - if you do, the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 8.

  • No sound after upgrading to Windows 7 M55-S3293

I upgraded to Windows 7 and installed the drivers from Toshiba for my sound card and before installing checked the windows XP box under the compatibility tab.  No sound.  I did windows update for this driver and it installed an updated driver.  No sound.  I went to Realtek and installed the windows 7 generic driver for this sound card (thats all manufacturer's offer is a generic driver) and LOW sound.  Now I rebooted and back to No sound.
Before windows 7 sound, after no sound.
Toshiba put out a fix for a contextant audio driver for the low sound problem to be corrected with windows 7 but I cannot find anything for my computer.
I don't know know what to do!  I don't want to go back to using XP but sound is REALLY important.  I would think this is an integrated sound card (Toshiba isn't making service manuals public anymore, it was there the other day and gone today) so I cannot remove it.  I don't think I have any available PCI slots to install a new one internally and I don't want extrenal speakers since I do a lot of traveling.
Is there a fix I don't know about?  What can I do?  Please HELP!!!

    Hi Ryan,
    Go here: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/downloadDetail.jsp?soid=1671893&pf=true
and download the software called "Sound Utility to Turn Mute Off After Upgrading to Vista", it is made for people that upgrade to VISTA, however, once you have all your Toshiba updates installed by downloading the Toshiba updates, then apply this update to your Windows7 system and the problem will resolve.
I don't know why they did not make this update part of the Toshiba Update Package.
    I hope this helps,
    best,
    Alejandro

  • Any plan of releasing REAL WORKING sound card drivers for windows 8.1 one day???

    Hello,
As you probably saw, I am one of the countless people having an issue with my sound blaster card with windows 8.1, and desperately waiting a new proper driver until months now... in vain, and with no answer from anyone from the creative support team, who are just ignoring it...
I say countless, because I can see over Internet a huge amount of people having those issues, and this forum doesn't represent it, because it is a pain to get the account activated to post anything.
Here is my question : can I throw away my relatively new high end sound card like a piece of useless crap now and buy a real piece of hardware, or are you planning to give us a chance of not wasting our money soon??
Just for your information, Realtek has released their working windows 8.1 drivers since 5 months now.
I know that Creative is in a position of strength in this market, because there is almost no other viable options, but does it means you have to abuse it?
Sorry if my message seems a bit hungry, right now I really feel like a disappointed customer who was trusting this company to buy a really great piece of hardware, but sadly can't get it working anymore, and being ignored.
I believe that being ignored is the least respectful answer of all.

Well, that is exactly what I was saying... still no answer from anybody.
Seriously Creative, when you want to make a product become obsolete by releasing a new version of your products (SBX), you should at least have the honesty to say that the old products are not supported anymore in windows 8.1...
I have installed windows 8.1, with no possibilities to revert back to windows 7, knowing from your website that my card is compatible (see here), and now my sound card is just an expensive useless piece of electronic taking dust on my desk... which i bought less than one year ago.
From your silence, should I guess that there will be no update or support anymore for this card in windows 8.1? In that case, is their any way I can send it back to creative technical support to exchange for a working model? Or at least a discount for the new model??

  • No sound on HDMI with Windows 7 om Mac Mini 2010

    Hi,
i've installed bootcamp (windows 7 64 bit) on a new mac mini. When I turn on power an boot windows there's no sound over HDMI. The windows device manager says that everything is working properly.
Then I boot mac os and HDMI sound works fine in mac os. Then booting windows again HDMI sound is working in windows too. But when I turn of the mac and turn it on again booting windows sound is missing again.
Any suggestions? I updated to the latest nvidia hdmi audio driver without success.

Found a workaround: The problem is not the NVidia HDMI audio driver but the Microsoft HD audio driver / device. If you have no sound over HDMI with your Mac Mini you have to
    1) Find out the hardware ID of the Microsoft HD Audio Device:
    * windows device manager -> system devices -> High definition audio controller
    * right mouseclick -> device properties -> Details -> select HardwareID
    2) Use the devcon command line utility to disable and enable the device:
    devcon disable "HardwareID"
    devcon enable "HardwareID"
And you will have HDMI sound again.

Your sound driver is IDT high definition audio and not a Conexant, Using the driver for Conexant would not work
If problem is still there, pls inform me

Just to elaborate further; if the Windows OS has been previously installed, go to the bootcamp assistant in OSX (found in applications/utilities). There you will have the option to burn a disk or  download the needed drivers to a USB flash drive. After getting the necessary files downloaded/burned proceed and start your Windows partition, run the installer from the disc. This should solve the problem.
Did you mean to reply to the poster who has the problem?

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2: No sound in DVD or Windows Media Pla

Getting around in Windows XP I get all the sounds in the book, whether it's starting up or shutting down, critical "bongs", icon confirmation "clicking", all the sounds are there. Where I do not get sound is While attempting to watch a DVD or when I try to play any music file in Windows Media Player. The DVD video will play, there's just no sound, and with Media Player I get this error message:? "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device."? Again, all the other Windows sounds are there. Anybody have any experience with this one?

I have just installed my Sound Blaster card, and get all of the Windows sounds. I can even play music CDs and movie DVDs on different media players other than Windows Media Player. The sound is also fine when playing games. However, when I try to use Windows Media Player, the CD and DVD plays, but there is no sound. In fact, when Windows Media Player is up and running, there is no Windows sounds or even other sounds when playing games. As soon as I close Windows Media Player, there is sound. I analyzed the configuration settings for both the Sound Blaster card and Windows Media Player, but I cannot see any problems.
    Does anyone have a clue?

    Rob, welcome to the forum.
During boot you should continually tap the Esc key to enter the BIOS.  I am not certain that you will find Hyper-V as an option in the BIOS.  Most of HP's BIOS'es are kept very simple with only the necessary settings.

  • HP Envy 5530 & Windows 8.1 : Does not print the whole document

Hello, I cannot seem to print an entire document longer than 3 pages with the HP Envy series & Windows 8.1 from any of my programs.  It will stop after a handful of pages (randomized with which page it stops at), with a simple error message, "Could not print document."  This goes for double sided as well as single sided pages.  It doesn't matter if it is color or b/w.  I first had the Envy 4500 and did everything I could to fix the issue.  I uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers using both CD and online installers and ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which could not find any issues.  The Network Configuration page & Test print pages were also fine.  I tried printing immediately & printing once everything has spooled.  Nothing worked. I finally gave up and upgraded to the 5530 in hopes that it was an incompatible driver.  However, I am still having the same issues, despite the "all clear" from the Print & Scan Doctor.  Please help!-ebdsnyder

Hi there, The only thing I can recommend at the moment would be to setup another instance of the network printer. Firstly I would recommnd setting up the printer with a Fixed IP address as if the IP address were to change later the printer would stop working. Then go into the Control Panel (use Windows Key and X and choose Control Panel from the menu that appears) and choose Devices and Printers. Click in the printers area and choose Add Printer. When the next screen comes up the computer, the system will search the local network and display any printers that are found on the network.  Choose the Envy 5530 and click next The computer will then add a network port and ask you to choose the driver. Choose use driver that is currently installed. The computer will then ask you to Name the printer, choose a descriptive name that will help you identify it later. The computer will then ask you if you want to share the printer, I would recommnd not sharing it for now. The computer will then ask if you want to set this as the default printer, this choice is up to you. Click print a test page to check that the printer works and then click finish. After this you will have an extra printer icon for your device.  I would recommend going into the Printer Properties on this new device and change the printer driver to the one that does not have the words Class driver after it (The Class driver is a cut down in OS version of the complete driver). This can be done from the Printer Properties advanced tab. I hope this all makes sense. Good luck and if you have any question please post them back here and I will try and help you out.
