No sound in AVCHD-Video with PS Elements 9

Hello,
since a few weeks, i am working with Photoshop Elements 9. It was announced, that PSE kann play also AVCHD-Videos. Now, i loaded from my Panasonic DMC-TZ 10 a short AVCHD-Video to the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 9 and played this video, but there was no sound. What ist the problem, doesn´t play PSE 9 the sound from a AVCHD-Video? Can someone help me?
Thanks.

Interesting Steve. I had not heard of MJPEG Audio. Now, I think of the regular MJPEG CODEC's for Video, but wonder if either the Morgan, or the MainConcept will also allow for MJPEG Audio editing. If so, then this ARTICLE might be useful.

What apps are you trying?  TV out video only works with apps that support TV out.  If the app does not support TV out you will still get aoudio via the component cable

Click on the blue Internet Recovery in nbar's post. That is a link to what computers can run Internet Recovery.
Do a backup,  preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors.  Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the OS.

Glad you pointed to that thread; the message was proven repeatedly to be erroneous and misleading.  Windows natively supports AVCHD (e.g., Windows Media Player, Windows Media Center).  All new consumer and most new professional HD video capture devices (including all forthcoming Nikon D-SLRs) use AVCHD rather than, say, the .MOV format that you do support which actually is NOT supported natively in Windows and requires a QuickTime install.
Again, it is a trivial task to have Lightroom recognize/catalog/playback AVCHD files.  About an hour's work programming-wise to incorporate AVCHD capability into Lightroom's shell (and Adobe can simply let pre-Windows 7 users know that they'll get AVCHD support when they upgrade to Windows 7).

After an upgrade from PSE 9 to Photoshop elements 11 there´s no sound when playing *.MTS videos in Adobe elements organizer 11 on a MAC (They´ve been importes with Adobe elements organizer). (With other programs, like Toast or VLC the videos play perfectly with sound). What to do? I´d like to "preview" the (all) videos in Adobe Elements organizer 11 WITH sound.

    Hey Bryan3939!
If I'm reading this correctly, it sounds like you might be experiencing an issue with your microphone recording during videos. I have an article for you that can help you troubleshoot this issue:

  • Is it possible to make a cartoon animation video with Premiere Elements ?

Is it possible to insert 16 different images every seconds in a video ? I will like to make an cartoon animation. Is it possible with Premiere Elements ? It look like it is only possible to change a picture/image every 1 seconds.
What software is good to make a small cartoon in size 140 * 140 pixels ?
    Best regards,
    Bo

    Bo,
    Welcome to the forum.
Doing stop-motion animation in PrE is easy, but as PrE is designed for common Video Frame Sizes, that 140 x 140 pixels will be tough. However, if you create your images at a larger size, that matches a common Video Frame Size, say 720 x 480, you can output to smaller size. In general terms, Video is horizontal rectangular.
To do the stop-motion animation in PrE, irrespective of that Frame Size, you would go to Edit>Preferences>General>Still Frame Duration, and there, you can set that Duration from 1 Frame, to almost infinity. Note: unlike some other settings on that General screne, the Still Frame Duration is in Frames.
You might be better off using a program like Photoshop Elements, and outputting to an Animated GIF. There are also many Animated GIF programs available, and many are free.
Adobe Flash would be a great choice, but it's not inexpensive. Same for Adobe After Effects. Both of those are designed to do all sorts of non-standard Video animations. However, for the price of either of those, one could buy dozens of Animated GIF creation programs.
PrE can do similar with Animated GIF (I could not find this in PrE 11, but others found it in previous versions), but due to its design around common Video specs., there will be limitations to overcome.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How do I burn a dual layer DVD video with Premiere Elements?

I am trying to burn a video from Premiere Elements to a dual layer DVD.   I choose  "DVD" -- and it seems to recognize my disc -- then I "fit to disk" (the video is one hour  -- then I attempt to burn -- and nothing happens.  I have tried it on my internal DVD and on my external BluRay --neither seems to work

    rross43
If you insert a DVD double layer single sided disc in the burner tray, Premiere Elements recognizes that as such with Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc. If you insert a DVD standard in the burner tray, Premiere Elements recognizes that for what it is.
The only time you see a distinction for double layer vs standard disc is in the burn to folder.
Both DVD disc types use the same max bitrate 8.00 Mbps. But, the DVD standard capacity is 4.38 GB not really 4.7 GB, and the DVD double layer single sided is 7.95 GB not really 8.5 GB. That has to do with the disc capacity labeling and not Premiere Elements.
Good job with the burn to folder. In a time crunch, you can take the VIDEO_TS Folder from the saved folder and take it to DVD-VIDEO on DVD double layer single sided disc using the ImgBurn program.
But, back to burn to disc....the successful burn to folder is pointing to the burner or the disc itself. What brand disc are you using?
What is the mode of failure for your burn to disc....you say nothing happens. Does that mean you hit the burner button and nothing happens?
We could look at deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file or do a program uninstall, free ccleaner run through, reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled. But, let us review the burner and discs situation first.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Elements 12: Export AVCHD video with 5.1 sound.

The source material has 5.1 sound but when try to export into AVCHD MP4/AAc 5.1 file i get the message:
    Thanks !

You need to give this another look. You can create a PAL AVCHD LITE 720p50 5.1 Channel for the new project dialog choices in Premiere Elements 12 using the principles that I used in my blog for doing this for 1080p. I just did it.
This should be a quick and easy procedure. Let us see what happened in your case.
In your case, the first instruction would be to copy the file name AVCHD LITE 720p50.sqpreset file found in Premiere Elements 12 Windows 7 or 8 64 bit path of:
    Local Disc C
    Program Files
    Adobe
    Adobe Premiere Elements 12
    Settings
    SequencePresets
    PAL
    AVCHD
and in the AVCHD Folder is the AVCHD LITE 720p50.sqpreset file that you copy (paste to desktop for now).
Follow the rest of the instruction in the blog post.
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/04/pe11-exporting-1080p50-or-1080p60-file.html
These following specific Notepad changes are the same whether the Notepad document reflects Premiere Elements 11 1080p or your Premiere Elements 12 720p.
    <InitialNumberOfFiveOneTracks>3</InitialNumberOfFiveOneTracks>
    <InitialNumberOfStereoTracks>3</InitialNumberOfStereoTracks>
    Change to:
    <InitialNumberOfFiveOneTracks>3</InitialNumberOfFiveOneTracks>
    <InitialNumberOfStereoTracks>0</InitialNumberOfStereoTracks>
    And where it says
    <AudioChannelType>1</AudioChannelType>
    Change to:
    <AudioChannelType>2</AudioChannelType>
When the changes are made, are you placing a new file specifically named
AVCHD LITE 720p50 5.1 Channel.sqpreset in the correct Program Files location as per the path described....?
And, you can get a AVCHD.mp4 (720p50) 5.1 channel file from Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with the preset of MP4 HD720p50 with adjusts under the Advanced Button/Audio Tab. I just did.
I will write up the above for inclusion in my blog for 720p and obtaining a 720p 5.1 channel version of the preset.
Please review and let us know the outcome.
    Thank you.

  • How to create professional quality HD Video with Premiere Elements

This is a guide for Premiere Elements 11 that can be adapted to other versions.
Professional video must be at very high bitrates (50-100 Mbps) to minimize quality loss
from compression across multiple generations, with chroma subsampling of at least 4:2:2.
(Many broadcasters will reject video below 50 Mbps.)
The best Computer preset options available in Premiere Elements 11 for professional output:
AVI: Advanced: Video Codec: Uncompressed UYVY 422 8bit
QuickTime: Advanced: Video Codec: Uncompressed YUV 10 bit 4:2:2
QuickTime: Advanced: Video Codec: Uncompressed YUV 8 bit 4:2:2
Best possible quality, but gigantic file size, may well be impractical.
    MPEG: HDTV 1080p High Quality
Use Advanced to set the Video: Profile to 4:2:2; check Render at Maximum Depth; and set Target Bitrate (Mbps) to 50-100. VLC Media Player can be used to play the output file. In general, this is the most practical standard option.
    AVCHD: MP4 - H264 1920x1080p
Unfortunately, only chroma subsampling of 4:2:0 is supported.
A good alternative to these standard options is to install and use the free Avid DNxHD codec, which is widely accepted professionally. Download and install it from here, and then reboot your computer. To use it in Premiere Elements, select Publish+Share: Computer: QuickTime: Advanced.
    In the Video tab:
Set Video Codec to Avid DNxHD Codec.
Click Codec Settings, and set desired Resolution (e.g., 1080p/29.97 DNxHD 36 8-bit).
Set Width and Height to 1920 and 1080 respectively.
    Set Frame Rate as desired.
Field Type should normally be set to Progressive.
Set Aspect to Square Pixels (1.0).
    Check Render at Maximum Depth.
    In the Audio tab:
Set Audio Codec to Apple Lossless.
Click OK, and Save your new preset with a meaningful name.
QuickTime can be used to play the output file.
    Hope that helps!

While consumers are indeed the intended audience of PE, it's nonetheless usable for professional output when you don't need the full capabilities and complexity of PP. I use both, and while I do sometimes need PP, I often find PE suited to the job at hand,
PE does support MPEG-2 4:2:2P@HL. (I just tested it in PE11 to be sure.)
AVCHD, while originally introduced as a format for consumer use, is now widely accepted as a professional format -- Panasonic and Sony both make professional AVCHD camcorders.
Regardless, I prepared this guide especially for those who don't use PP -- even with the easier pricing of CC, PP can be too steep a learning curve for an occasional professional job when PE can get it done.

  • Problem Recording Sound when Recording Video with iSight

I am trying to make a short movie using iMovie '08 (ver. 7.1.4) with my built-in iSight camera and built-in mic on my iMac (2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo). I want to post this short movie in my MobileMe gallery.
I am able to record and view the video (event) using the iSight camera. However, I cannot get the movie (as I record the video) to pick up any sound.
The mic appears to be working okay: when I click on the microphone icon in iMovie, a "VOICEOVER" window appears. In this window, the "Record From" box shows "Built-in Microphone" selected and the Left/Right bars below shows green increasing/decreasing as I speak.
Nevertheless, I cannot get iMovie to record any sound. Obviously, I am missing some setting or process. Would someone kindly give me a little direction here? Thank you, Dale

The mic wasn't selected in the System Preferences. In the Sound pane, the "Line In" had been selected. Instead, the "Internal microphone" should have been selected. When I made this change, the mic worked fine. Dale

  • How do I play videos with premier elements 10

I have just uploaded some mixed photos and videos to my computer using adobe premier elements 10 but I cant play the videos. A box appears saying i need the compression de compression codex. Where do Iget these?

It is very likely that those Videos contain a CODEC, that is not installed on your computer. The file extensions, such as AVI, MOV, WMV, etc., are but "wrappers," and so very much can be contained within those wrappers. This ARTICLE goes into more detail, and tells you how to "peek inside the wrapper." That is why Steve is asking about the camcorder, that created the files - to find out what the CODEC is, that is inside the wrapper.
If the files use a CODEC, that PrE can use (very many, but not even close to all), it might be as simple as locating that CODEC, downloading and installing it, then rebooting. For more info on CODEC's in general, see this ARTICLE.
    Good luck,
