No sound in bootcamp

One day my speakers randomly stopped transmitting sound (on the Windows side of my Macbook Pro, using bootcamp). I hear everything fine when headphones are plugged in, but absolutely no sound through the normal laptop speakers. On the Mac side, the speakers are fine.
I've tried restarting, I've tried software updates, doublechecking the drivers are working, doublechecking the devices are working, and downloading Realtek drivers.
Any suggestions?

Hi
It sounds like you've eliminated hardware problems, so I think you need to play with the Microsoft Windows audio settings. A faulty "Balance" setting could cause sound to come from just one speaker.
On Windows XP, the place to start is Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices

The answer is, either you are not telling us the whole story, or something else has changed.  Perhaps your iPad is jealous of your iPod and is secretly forcing your iPod to reset it self.  And if you believe that, I have this bridge for sale....

  • No sound under bootcamp XP SP3

I just installed Windows XP SP2 and updated it to SP3 under bootcamp. I did the bootcamp 2.1 update, and installed the drivers from the leopard disk. However, I still have no sound, either in my headphones or in the built-in speakers. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I've got the same problem but my imac is running SP2.
I get a yellow "!" on one of my PCI sound devices but updating the drivers or trying to activate it will not work. it says that the device is working correctly however "it is possible that another program is running" so making the device not working properly.
the thing is. yesterday when I shut down the mac. everything was working fine. the sound was coming out of the speaker perfectly.
I did try to tweak something though, trying to fix my microphone problem, So I guess i'm the problem but now there seem to be no way of fixing this.
I tried reinstalling all drivers from the mac CD but nothing works. please help

  • No Sound after Bootcamp 3.0 drivers

Just installed Bootcamp 3.0 drivers from the Snow Leopard disk, and now have no sound.
During the install process there were lots of references to Sigmatel, which is what I think the driver used to be, but in Deice Manager the sound driver is now IDT which also has a menu bar icon bottom right.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I have "solved" this by installing just the Bootcamp 2.1 sound driver from here:
    http://files.geoffgarside.co.uk/bootcamp/Drivers/IDT%20SigmaTel/
The original problem is that with 3.0 there was no sound from the internal speakers on my MBP...only from the headphone jack where the optical output red light also showed. I could not find anyway of making it play through the speakers.
Would still be grateful for any proper resolution of how to make the BC 3 sound driver work.
    Thanks

  • Pb of sound in bootcamp on McBook Pro

Since I installed Bootcamp and Windows 8.1, my bookpro has not any more sound and a redlight appeared in the jack location .... unless I restart using IOS Maveryck in which it works normally ...
All I found on the Net did'nt work...
Is there any poeple having resolved that?
    Thanks

    Hi
I followed all the links from the Toshiba-Europe website (they sent me an email diecting me to both the Sound Driver and Display Driver updates)and downlaoded the 2 applications, unzipped them and tried to run the components but my computer says exactly the same thing as yours for the Sound Driver, and for the driver setup programs I get a message saying the length of the specified directory path exceeds 88 characters and I need to shorten the length before it can be opened. I tried the Device Manager and just got re-directed to the Windows Marketplace for compatible downloads, which is just running in circles as Toshiba themselves directed me to these 2 supposedly compatible downlaods! (for Satellite M70-212)
    What should I do?

  • No sound in Bootcamp Windows 8.1

    Hi.
I recently installed Windows 8.1 on my Macbook Pro, late 2011 model and ran the Bootcamp software. Everything works great except there is no audio playing at all, I have an X mark on the volume control, troubleshooting results in a 'A recent hardware might have not been detected' I have no Sound, video and gaming controllers' in the Device Manager, there is 'High Definition Audio Controller' in the Device Settings, though has a warning sign on it, I checked it and tried to update the driver but it says that it's the latest one installed. I had tried to re-run the Bootcamp drivers software and downloaded the Realtek audio drivers from the internet, but it still not working, though a Realtek High Definition Audio driver is now detected in the Device Manager, but not working, it has an warning sign too, When I try to run the troubleshooter it says that Realtek High Definition Audio has a driver problem.
Please help me, this is so frustrating.

I was thinking about upgrading my entry level MBP 13" late 2011 to the top of the line rMBP 15 late 2013 for gaming, I thought I could install Windows and run any game just fine without losing the OS X experience. I had no issues before with Bootcamp with Windows 8 x64 back when I had Lion. Now I'll just buy a Razer Blade and ditch Apple.
Sadly, once I installed 8.1 x64 on my current MBP with Mavericks, I've had every single possible issue with a laptop that according to Apple supports Windows 8.1, first I couldn't create an install usb drive without first burning the .iso file to a DVD, which was possible before Mavericks. I don't have a DVD with Windows 8.1, since I received the OS through dreamspark, so I come to think, what if I buy the rMBP that lacks a DVD drive? I found a way to get the option to create the install drive from a .iso file, attempted to install, then had an issue with the partition created by Bootcamp, Windows wouldn't let me install in that partition, nor I could erease it then use it with the tools of the install setup. So I went to disk utility, deleted the partition, and left that as free space, booted back to the setup, and finally installed Windows by creating an NTFS partition at the free space. After I installed Windows, and installed the drivers provided by Apple, I had no sound, the driver was not working, and spent 3 days actively looking for a solution online, tried a lot, none work. Finally uninstalled Windows 8.1, I'm using VM Ware now, but gaming is not the same on a virtual machine.
I thought Bootcamp had real support, this is not the case. Razer Blade, here I come!

  • No sound using bootcamp with windows 10 and yosemite

    Hi,
I've just installed Windows 10 preview on my iMac Retina with Yosemite.  Everything works great but, I have no sound when using windows, I do have sound when on Yosemite.  I've looked and still haven't found a working solution, any help would be appreciated?
       Thank you. Jerry

No it's still there.  It's coming from my iMac speakers only on the windows side.  But if I play music through YouTube I hear the music through the headphone jack external speakers.  But that **** sound won't go away.  Did a repair lost all my sounds again.  Just did another repair and that sound came back.
I went into sounds and turned them off and the sound went away...I listened to every sound there before I turned it off and none of them sounded like the sound I was getting.  At least I can still hear my music through external speakers.  I'm totally confused.  Hopefully you'll have more for me?
        Thanks Jerry

  • Sound on Bootcamp XPHOME

i recently just ran xp on a boot-camp, everything went fine except there is absolutely no sound, with all the sound options inaccessible to even configure or click, im assuming sound card isn't compatible?...i dont know any help would be great ..im guessing finding out my sound card on the board and downloading drivers?

Find device manager: audio chipset, then download and install (Cirrus Logic Audio ? or RealTek ? )
Sound drivers have always been needed. But you say it stopped
If you have a "!" or yellow sign on sound audio you have other issues and may need to renstall or repair install or even uninstall and then install, Apple device drivers first.
Buy WinClone 3 ($20) so you can make a restore image when it is working if you want to avoid a reinstall.
Obviously Apple (and MS) have largely ended most support for XP.

  • Sound Disappeared from youtube / hyperlinks

when using Windows 7 (32 bit Home Premium version) in Bootcamp, it appears that I don't get any sound from youtube (or other similar sites, usually from email links).  I can boot in MAC OSX and go to the same site and the web video will play with sound properly.  All other system sounds in Bootcamp work, Skype works with sound fine.  It only appears to be from like streaming webcasts type sounds.  Nothing is muted, other sounds appear to work fine.  Have tried to search similar issues but have not yet found similar situation.  Has anyone else experienced this?
    thanks, John

apparently this is a Google Chrome issue.  So I've answered my own question.

  • High Latency in Windows 7 64Bit on MacBook Air 2010 NVIDIA with DPC Software

High latency in Windows 7 that is interrupting sound on BootCamp partition with NVIDIA Drivers
    3000us all the time
I can't use my interface with it.
Anybody know how to fix it?

Thanks for posting the pictures...it makes it much easier to see what's going on.
First off, use the proper Focusrite ASIO driver, not ASIO4ALL.  Make sure you have the latest driver installed, available here:  Downloads | Focusrite
Then, on the screen shown in your first picture, use the slider on the Focusrite control panel to change the Buffer length to the lowest setting at which you can get reliable recording and playback.  It's currently set to 10ms which is 480 samples (as shown in the Audition Preferences/Audio Hardware panel.   I tend to use 128 samples which is between 2 and 3 ms but exactly what works for you will depend on all sorts of factors.  Some people like to use a low setting for recording and the highest possible setting when mixing a multitrack session.
Finally, for pretty much all recording, I'd recommend the use of the Direct Monitoring feature on the 2i2 rather than trying to monitor via a round trip.

  • A tiny little cry for help: mic in bootcamp makes me sound like a mouse!

I posted this on the InsanelyMac forum, and I thought I'd post it here too because I'm just that desperate for help... thanks in advance for reading.
I run a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo. When Snow Leopard came out I installed it and partitioned my drive to allow me to run Windows via bootcamp for the purpose of playing Aion with my husband.
The game works fine, although it only works correctly when I'm hooked to my large Dell monitor. The built-in display makes the mouse/cursor not function correctly in-game.
But that's relatively minor... the biggest problem is that the built-in mic, as well as any mic I plug into the Line In, makes me sound like a mouse when I speak. I SO don't want to be known as the squeaky mouse over ventrilo. (The problem occurs in a regular sound recorder too, so it is NOT ventrilo specific).
The audio device is listed as Intel High Definition Audio: Device ID 0x83847680, Audio ID 30 - whatever that means.
When I dive into the Control Panel audio preferences when booted into Windows, the driver is listed as IDT audio.
Audio output seems to function perfectly.
I would sure appreciate help if anyone has expertise or experience with this sort of thing. I'm at a little bit of a loss.
    TIA,
    Jen

Hey, I had a thought, I don't know if it'll work and won't get the chance to find out until later tonight if I'm not too tired or until later tomorrow.
I think that if the IDT drivers aren't installed in the first place, perhaps the issue can be averted entirely. However, it's going to take a bit of knowledge to do and some patience. The partition will need to be remade entirely so that one may end up with a fresh operating system. When the SL disk is put into the computer, instead of running the full driver setup, pick the drivers directly off the disk by exploring its folders and only install the ones you need. Instead of using the IDT drivers, I believe the SL disk also has Realtek HD audio drivers (if I remember correctly from the last time I looked). My thought is that this manual method can prevent having to deal with the IDT drivers which I believe are part of the issue.
I understand that reinstalling XP is a process in itself, but this is the only solution I can think of. If manually installing doesnt work, my next move would be to use the drivers that come off the Leopard disk instead of the SL disk.
Like I said, this is just a thought I have so when I get to it later I'll let you know how it goes unless you decide to give it a try before me.

  • Installed Windows 8.1 on my MBP w/ Bootcamp...trouble with wifi connection, trackpad, sound, etc.

    Hello!
I decided to install Windows 8.1 on my Macbook Pro (late 2011/ OS X Lion) by using latest version of Bootcamp and everything went smoothly. My problem is that my wifi network is not being recognized (my home network is not showing up at all and I have to plug in to the router, making this an inconvenience), the trackpad is glitchy, and there is no sound! I've looked at all previous forum posts on this issue and everyone says to uninstall and then reinstall windows via bootcamp and I did so and still am having the same issues. Before I used bootcamp, I tried out Parallels. This program works okay, you just can't have too much going on at the same time because apps will freeze up and your poor CPU is probably crying. Anyways, I'm not entirely sure on what to do at this point. Any suggestions or tips would be most appreciated!
    Thank you

I cleared out my USB of it and then downloaded the windows support software again through the Bootcamp set up on my 2nd try of installing Windows 8.1 and same results.

  • No mouse or sound on my new W7 Bootcamp Install - PLEASE HELP!!

I recently installed a new copy of Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro using BootCamp 3.2.  Now my Windows will not connect with my mouse via bluetooth.  I can no longer hear sound from my onboard speakers either.  I get sound out  headphone jack but that's it.  What am I missing?  I did wipe out my previous NTFS partition out prior to installing the new Windows7.

I did.  When I run the executable it responds with the message "a newer version of bootcamp is already installed. Installation of this version can not continue".  When I go to pair my mouse it pairs for a brief second and then drops.  I'm completely lost at this point.

  • No sound Windows 7, 64 bit running Bootcamp, MacBook Pro 64bit Snow Leopard

Been running Windows like this successfully for over a year. Now, suddenly, no sound. Tried re-installing Cirrus Logic etc, but to no avail. Possibly linked to some recent software updates? Tried to reverse, but didn't fix problem.
Have tried the various suggestions found via Google about compatability with Vista in Cirrus.
Any suggestions would be very welcome.

in bootcamp in osx one makes a driver cd which include apples drivers for all the hardware in the mac
and one then install that in windows to get everything working
do that rather then try to install drivers yourself

  • No sound out of back line out MacPro Bootcamp 3.1 Windows 7 64bit

No sound out of back line out speakers.
    MacPro Early 2008
    Bootcamp 3.1
    Windows 7 64bit
    Realtek HD audio driver.
I have speakers plugged into the back line out.
They work in Mac 10.6.4 (as always) and in Parallels 5 Windows 7 using Bootcamp partition.
All other jacks work. In Realtek driver it shows nothing connected to that jack.
    Anybody else have this issue?
    Anybody else have solved this?

    Anyone at all?
Even if you don't have the issue yet have a similar setup. Maybe I can figure out if there's a driver update I may need.
BTW I KNOW others have this as I've seen this mentioned on other forums. What I do NOT know is whether it's "everyone" or there's something about systems that don't have this issue, I need to follow.
