No sound in CS3

Hello, I'm working on a project with a someone who has Pr Pro CS3.  When she imports footage the audio does not come in.  We know the clips have audio.  When looking at the audio track audio wave, nothing is there, just a flat line.  The footage is from a Sony EX1 camera, down loaded to the computer via the XDCAM Clip Broswer.  She is on a Dell computer.  What is the solution.
Thanks in advance

If the audio contains AC3 copy the ad2ac3dec.dll from the Encore directory and paste in the root of Premiere.

  • Editing sound in CS3,,,?

I tried a search here for 'sound' and it came up with no results! So I'm sorry if this has cropped up before.
How do other folks edit sound in Premiere CS3?
I've been editing mine in Pro Tools for ages, but sometimes after importing into Premiere I'd like to tweak a level, or simply line up an audio effect and I've found CS3 to be really clunky and my efforts are completely hit and miss. I'll swear it was easier in earlier versions.
Have I missed something? The Adobe help file is rubbish. Is there an on-line tutorial somewhere? It really is about time I got to grips with this.
    (Is CS4 better..?)

    There are
several tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how audio works in Premiere Pro.

I have not upgraded to CS3 but from many posts in this forum
it sounds like CS3 should just not have
been released for the Mac until it was ready.
Folks with Macs seems to share the same experience of CS3
beeing very slow to the point of not being
    usable.
Just stick to version 8, and wait for an update that might
solve these problems... If it ever comes.

  • No sound or no video

My colleague has two new pc's (lucky him). One with CS3 the other with CS4. No other software, yet, just the default XP stuff...
His job is to process media clips that the general public send into us - so they arrive in a *wide* range of formats.
The most popular is, of course, divx, xvid, and the likes. And we have to prepare these things for TV and DVDs.
Our trouble concerns divx. Many videos we receive were easily edited in Premiere Pro 2. But the same vids have video but no sound in CS3, and sound and no video in cs3 - yes the reverse!
We tried reinstalling everything - which is a rant in itself (whats with this Checking System Profile aaahhhh).
I've tried a few things: like using gspot to see whats what. Adding codecs one by one.
Ideally we want CS4 to work as well as Pro2 - not unreasonable i say.
We have a solution of using other software: but does Adobe really want me to use other software?
    Can anyone suggest a fix?

I agree with Curt on this. I get handed quite a mixed bag of formats and use DigitalMedia Converter (shareware) and it handles these formats, plus most others very well. I convert to DV-AVI Type II, and have yet to have a problem. Now, one does need have the various CODEC's installed on the system, as DMC does not ship with any. There is/was a trial, and it might be worth looking into. IIRC, it is about US$50. I like it so much, that I have a copy on all of my computers. It also does batch converting and is pretty quick. Load it up, hit the Go button, and have lunch. When you get back, it's all done.
    Good luck,

  • Importing sound into Premier Pro CS3

I have a Sony HDR-XR100 HD video camera.  It saves files with an .m2ts extension.  This extension is not supported by CS3.  Using Sony's PMB (Picture Motion Browser), I convert the .m2ts files to .mpeg2.  When I import these files into Premier, they appear, but have no audio.  How do I import the audio?  Thanks.
    David

I put it in the main Premier folder, presumably like you did, and it worked.  I'm not real familiar with Macs, but the folder I put it in was "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS3".  There are several other files there with similar names.  If that doesn't work, I'm lost, since obviously I had to come here for help myself :).

Hey, I'm using CS for Mac and I'm having the same issue , importing .mpg into PPro and get no audio.
I found the ad2ac3dec.dll file online but I'm not sure what folder to place it in. I've found the folder named Adobe Premire Pro CS3 and just pasted it into that but it didn't work.
My camera only records in .mpg and I really don't want to spend money on a converter after spending a bucketload for CS3...
Any help would be much appreciated!

  • Sound "leaks" in  Dreamweaver CS3 page

How can I fix the performance of .mp3 files on this page:
    http://www.multiminds.org/history/syllabus.html
The page plays fine in Foxfire. But when opened by Safari,
Opera, and, I think, IE, the sounds (on content pages reached by
spry tabs) seem to "spill" out and play in part from first to last
before the page returns to the sounds I intended it to play first.
Would converting the .mp3 files to .swf files or some other format
help? Something else? Thanks for any guidance you can
    provide.

    > so I'm applying the behavior to the <td> tag.
Don't. Events applied to anything other than an <a> tag
    will usually
produce unreliable and unexpected results. Seems like you are
    experiencing
one. Your code below looks fine.
To do this the most dependable way, make the trigger cell
    contain an anchor
to which the mouseover event and behavior is applied.

  • No sound in mulit camera edit. CS3 premeire pro

Followed instructions exactly on tutorial disc for syncronizing clips.
I have 2 .avi clips with the sound dis-abled and a .wav file with the sound enabled.
All three clips have been syncronized and multi cam edit has been enabled.
In multi camera edit window: When playing there is NO SOUND.
    My OS is Windows XPpro
I am using CS3 production premium.
    Why is there NO SOUND?
    Thanks, Scott
    [email protected]

    Hurray!
I unlinked Video/audio 1 and deleted the audio track 1.
I then moved the .wav file in Audio 3 into the now vaccant audio track 1. Making sure to have the audio selected for that track.
IT WORKED. IT WORKS. I NOW HAVE AUDIO IN MY MULTI CAM EDIT WINDOW. The audio ( .wav file ) that I want to use.
Thanks for jarring my brain in the right direction. I can now FINALLY finish the wedding video.
They will be so so happy to finally receive it.
    Thanks so much Stan.

I hear you, but I don't see how that work flow could have ever worked in CS3 (or other versions - I'm still CS3) unless the .wav is in Audio 1.
In addition to my suggestion above, I suppose you could put the wav in track 1 with no video in v1; and put the cams in v2 and 3.  Keep the audio set to NOT follow cams, and then select between cam 2 and cam 3 for the video.  It won't matter whether you mute tracks 2 and 3; you won't hear them anyway.  You should hear only track 1 audio.
    Here's the CS3 help file:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/3.0/index.html
Now I may have to take back what I said.  I see that the help file says that if you select DO NOT follow cam for audio, it will use the audio in the selected track.  So perhaps you used to select that track (I assume audio 3) and do not have it selected now (in the multicam source sequence).

If you really want it, it's listed under the ~Deprecated
    submenu of the
Behaviors panel. It was moved there because it uses invalid
    code and
doesn't work in many standards-compliant browsers.

  • No sound when importing video CS3

    Hi Guys
Here's my situations. I am a media technician in a school and have a PC running windows 7 and Premier Pro CS3 installed. We have just got some new Lenovo G700 laptops (Windows 8) and I have installed Premiere CS3 on these using the original instal disks.
When I import a video on the laptops I am not getting any sound, when i drag the video onto the timeline there is no audio track. If i use the same video on my PC it works ok! I have had the settings side by side an the ONLY difference I Can see is under the info tab when clicking a video in the project is says 'VIDEO' on the laptops and on my PC it says 'MOVIE' other than that everything is the same!
    Any ideas?
One other thng, the videos play using WMP on my PC with no problems, however on the laptops they freeze and only play the audio, so I was thinking maybe a codec issue? but I have never gone out my way to instal a codec on the PC it's just always worked

    Ryan,
    Welcome to the forum.
A MOD will likely Move this post to the Premiere CS4 & Earlier sub-forum, but your link, and any e-mail subscriptions will follow.
One of the main causes of no Audio, or truncated Audio, on Import is the failure of Audio Conforming not completeing 100%. This article goes into more detail, and offers tips: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3892177#3892177
The Conforming of the Audio is for Premiere, so being able to PLAY the muxed file in WMP is not a good test, other than to insure that the file does contain an Audio Stream.
Good luck, and please let us know if this is an Audio Conforming issue.

  • EDITING SOUND/MUSIC in SOUNDBOOTH or PREMIERE PRO CS3

I have a question that has been posed to me about sound/song/music editing.  How can one either in SOUNDBOOTH or in PREMIERE PRO CS3 - edit the playback - so show beat by beat - is that possible?
I'm not musically inclined.   If I want to cut/edit a sound and match it with a similar of another - how can I go about that?
please email me as i'll forget to check here for replies - [email protected]
thanks for any suggestions.  I'm a newbie at sound.

You can use either one for what you're talking about.

  • CS3 - updating sound card

Have a strange issue with my machine and Premiere Pro CS3.
The integrated sound card died some time ago and I have replaced it with another card. Sound works fine through windows. But with PP3 there is an issue. When we are capturing video you can hear the sound fine both from the camera and the computer speakers. But once you have a clip in the program not sound comes out. You can see the audio channel, and the sound levels indicate that something is there.
When I look in preferences under Audio Output mapping I can see what look like the old sound card.
Do I need to reinstall the program to updatet the card or is there a simplier way.
    Paul

Bill, thanks for that. It had nothing to do with drivers because the card worked perfectly in all other apps.
The problem was that the ASIO settings were pointing to the wrong card, but it was not obvious how to change them. You article was brillient and the problem is now fixed.
    Regards
    Paul

  • Flash CS3/CS4 Sound Problem

    Hi,
I am trying to create a soundboard and I have all my buttons and stuff, the only thing left is to put the sound files in. However, I have tried adding them to the library and dragging and dropping them over the HIT option like I usually do, but when I export the swf file, the sound file sounds terrible, it crackles and sometimes stutters a bit. I have tried setting these sound files to mp3 and raw in adobe options but with no luck. I am using actionscript 2.0 if that has anything to do with it. Also, I need these files embedded, not just linked. Please let me know any suggestions you might have.
    Thanks.

In the Export Settings dialog, go to the Flash tab and look at the Images and Sounds section. Check the Audio Stream and Audio Event settings. It's a common occurrence for the sound to be set to a low data rate and monophonic. If so, click both of the Set buttons and adjust the compression, bit rate and quality settings.

  • Trial Première pro CS3 combined with Sony DHR-1000NP/No sound rendering the Première Project

    Dear friends,
I am a belgian and I have many years of good experience with Pinnacle DV500, Adobe Première 6.0 and the Sony DV Recorder DHR-1000NP.
As I want to make a further step, I downloaded the trial of Adobe Première Pro CS3; I installed this trial on 2 OTHER computers, Windows Professional XP , SP2. With both I have the same problem!
I get good .avi's from my DV tapes, played with the same Sony DV Recorder DHR-1000NP, over a fire wire, connected with the OHCI of the computer.
When playing the obtained Première project, the video and audio on the screen and the amplifier of the computer, are perfect; the videosignal over the firewire and the Sony DV Recorder DHR-1000NP is also perfect, but there is absolutely NO audiosignal reaching the Sony DV Recorder DHR-1000NP.
Who can explain me how I should manage that problem?
    Thank you for helping!
    With my best regards,
    Marc

    Beste Marc
