No sound in ebooks

I have sound for music, but no sound in iTunes or reader books, any thoughts?

It could be a hardware issue. You can confirm this by doing an HP Recovery back to factory defaults.
Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7)
If that fails you can contact support for your repair options: In North America, call (800)-474-6836 outside of North America find your support number here HP Technical Support

  • No sound for ebooks

I cannot get sound on my iPad2 for ebooks, i.e., Toy Story 1, 2, and 3 and the Prince and the Frog. There is sound for everything else, but not these ebooks. Can anyone help?

You likely have system sounds muted.
    1.  Check the switch just above the volume control on the upper right hand side of your ipad.  This switch can be programmed in settings to either mute system sounds, or lock screen orientation.  Change the direction of the switch and on your iPad screen it will tell you which it was set to.  If is says mute when you change it, you're done and you'll have system sounds.
    2.  If it says Orientation, you have the switch programmed to lock orientation.  Double tap your home button to bring up the task bar (recently used apps).  With your finger, swipe those apps all the way to the right and the very last icon on the left will be a mute button.  Touch it and you'll restore system sounds.
Tap your home button to close the task bar.

  • Sound for Ebook

I am trying to create my first ebook and am new at using Indesign.  My problem is with sound.  I have added an MP3 file and in preview it plays just like I wanted.  But when I export to Epub, there is no sign of the MP3 file.  How do I get sound into my ebook?  The book is basically a picture book with a few words and I would like for reader to be able to hear the words.
    Thanks!

InDesign is only a means to an end to get epub. Its only step one in a process.
You WILL NOT get a validated epub from InDesign.
Pay for and download Liz Castro eBook "EPUB Straight to the point"
It is the bible for epub generation.
And walks you through the process of adding video to your epub. and everything else.

  • How can I use one background jpeg in my ebook without a large file size

I'm guessing that by simply adding a background image or watermark by default adds a separate copy to each page. Since I am intending for them to be the same on all pages except for the title page, how do I shrink the final file size of my PDF eBooks so that the image is stored once but shown on all pages?
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you, I understand, yeah, I knew that, my phone is factory unlocked and I am going home, which is obviously not in the States and I am thinking of buying a local carrier there. However, I still have 2 weeks before I leave and cannnot wait to start using my Iphone 4. I thought at least I could use the mp3 player function. So as far as I understand, I cannot activate it without a sim card. I have been using metropcs for about two years and it does not have a sim card. In this case, do I really not have another choice but wait for two weeks to listen to music? My Mp3 player just failed me and I really need to listen to music but on the other hand, while I can use my iphone as an mp3 player in two weeks, I don't want to spend more money on a new one. So, do you have another suggestion? For instance, can I use a friend's sim card to activate mine? Would this cause any trouble, when I go home and buy a local carrier? I think these questions might kinda sound weird to you, but first time with an Iphone, extremely excited to start using under my circumstances, I need help   thanks,

  • I have iphone 4s and just bought an ebook for ibook, trouble is the font is so tiny I can't read it and the font sizer is not working? Please help!

Hi, I have the  iphone 4s and just bought an ebook for ibook, trouble is the font is so tiny I can't read it and the font sizer is not working? Please help!

    Hello Glittergirl68,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like the function to reseize the Font in an iBook is not functioning properly.
I recommend a few things here. First close all the apps that are running in the background:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
From: iOS: Force an app to close
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
When you have done that, restart the phone, and try again.
If the issue persists, I would follow these steps from the article:
iOS: Troubleshooting apps purchased from the App Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1702
    2. Check for app updates
You can setup apps to update automatically in Settings > iTunes & App Store, but make sure that your apps are up to date:
Open the App Store and tap Updates. If updates are available, tap Update All.
If  prompted, enter your iTunes Store account information. App Store will then download and install the app updates.
Note: Some apps may require a Wi-Fi connection to update.
    3. Install another app from the App Store
If none of your user-installed apps will launch, there could be an issue with Apple ID authorization. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information. You can also remove an app from your iOS device and download it again from the App Store or sync the app from your computer.Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.
    4. Restart the app
If the issue affects only a single app, try closing just that app.
    5. Restart your device
Turn the device off and on.
    6. Reinstall the affected app
Remove the app from your device and reinstall it:
Tap and hold any app icon on the Home Screen until the icons start to wiggle and show a small "x" in the top-right corner of the app.
Tap the "x" in the corner of the app you want to delete.
Tap Delete to remove the app and all of its data from your device.
    Press the Home button.
    Go to the App Store.
Search for the app and then download it again.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Transfer/ Synchronizing eBooks between different devices

    Hi,
Currently I have Digital Edition installed on my Win8 Dell Laptop, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, and Apple iPad 3, and sign in with the same Adobe account. I have downloaded some ACS encrypted eBooks, in both PDF and ePub format. Anybody have any idea on how to trasnfer those eBooks between those devices. From Adobe help I can only find solution on transferring eBooks between PC and eReader, not PC and tablet. I try connect PC and my tablets, while the Digital Edition seems cannot recognize the tablets, thus cannot transfer from PC to tablets. Anybody can help me with these

    Hmmm....  Lemme think......
A disclaimer: I'm an old fart who's been working with computers since the
stone age (1967).  Some things change - some do not, regardless of the
technology.  And my experience with ADE and ebook readers is limited to what
I've been doing since the beginning of this year.  So, what I can tell you
is more theoretical than experience....  With that in mind:
Ebooks may simulate real books, but that doesn't mean you can do the same
things with them.  Once you download a book to a particular device (PC, MAC
or ereader), the computer and the software register it according to the
'tags' created by the publisher.  You can see those tags if you click on the
very tiny drop-down box in the upper left corner of the book's cover in
Library view.  Click on 'Item Info'.  You'll see the permissions the
publisher has set up, such as reading on devices, copying and printing.  If
you can copy the book, then you could use PC or MAC tools to copy it to a
thumb drive, then take it to the other computer and download it into their
ADE library, making sure it goes in the same folder name on the other
computer.  If the publisher doesn't allow copying, there are electronic
'tags' built into the file on your computer that will not let the book be
opened on any other computer.  And that sounds like what's happening to
    you.
Short of buying their own copy, the only solution I can think of is sharing
    the computer....  Sorry!

  • Playing sounds one at a time

I'm making ebooks, designing in InDesign, exporting as PDF, opening the PDF in Acrobat and embedding sounds. In the resulting files if I click on one sound, say a three minute mp2 song, and then click on the next sound, the first one is still playing. If I then click back on the first one it stops for a second and then continues. I would like the behavior to be only one sound at a time, click on a new sound and any other one that might be playing stops. I assume this is possible. It's only logical.

Ok it seems that I would have no sound cards listed by aplay -l if I logged in from lightdm, If I logged in from a tty I would get sound cards listed from aplay -l.
I think lightdm 1:1.6.1-2 fixed my problem, everything works now, Id like to know why/how this happened if anyone knows? Thanks.

  • Building an eBook in Adobe Acrobat X Pro

    Hey guys,
This is my first post to the forum so please be gentle... In brief, something I'm not known for, I've decided on the PDF format so I can offer my eBook to anyone owning a computer with an internet connection.
Try as I may I've not been able to find a good step-by-step guide on converting a word doc into Acrobat X Pro for the purposes of an eBook. Ideally it would walk through the entire process including security, not allowing printing, copying etc.
Another conversation I'd like to have is on the security issue. As I understand it you can only have one password making me think I'm missing something... Selling an eBook with one password seems problematical to me and thought there may be other security measures I've missed. Selling hundreds of thousands of eBooks, hey a man can dream, with one password doesn't sound like a good plan to me. So have I missed something?
Thanks guys, eBooks and Acrobat X are both new to me so any help you're willing to give would be most appreciated.
    Harry

    Hello Harry and welcome,
You'd be probably much better off posting your message in the appropriate Acrobat forum, which you may find here:

  • I am unable to access any of my ebooks in adobe after I had help this morning

I am unable to access any of my ebooks in adobe after I had help this morning

Hi, Thank you so much for the info.... I really do appreciate it. We had the laptop updated by way of a system upgrade with RAM and an additional SSD drive. Once reconfigured all programs were reinstalled but Iphoto is not among them. Iphoto was on the laptop when purchased so we have no additional discs. Before the laptop was updated we backed the photos up to an extrenal hard drive so we have them, but cant access them. Could I purchase Iphoto 8 stll? Would this work? We would also require an external CD drive as we no longer have the disc drive in the laptop (I think the extra new bits took over). You may have noticed I have very limited knowledge on computers so any help dispite how simple it may sound to some would help me greatly. I just want all my photos back .... Thanks inadvance... Hope to hear soon x

  • Cannot change target sound in drag and drop to "no sound" once a default sound is selected in Captivate 8

I was trying out all the options for a drag and drop interaction in Captivate 8 and selected one of the default sounds for a target. I want to change it back to "no sound", but the selection never sticks. Is there something I'm missing or is this a "feature"?

When you go to the “Format” tab of the drag and drop properties, there is an option called “audio” (right below the “depth” option).
It has default sounds you can pick (sound1, sound2, sound3, and incorrect sound). Or you can browse to an audio file. If I select one of the default sounds, and then decide not to use any sound, it will not change to the “none” option. I have to delete the drag and drop interaction and start over.

It sounds as if you downloaded Adobe Acrobat Pro. If you did, uninstall it. Then repair Adobe Reader.
The free Acrobat account has no connection to any of this.

  • Ebook not compatible

I bought an ebook with .pdf version. It is readable and works on the regular computer, but not on Window mobile Adobe Reader LE 2.0. On the computer works with Adobe Digital Edition. It stated the error message on the mobile phone: unsupported security handler.
I am stucked. I don't want it to read ebook on the computer, but on my WM6 phone. what should I do? Any suggestion or recommendation? Please help and thank you.

You can't usually move ebooks between computers, and it sounds as if
this ebook couldn't work on the phone anyway.

  • Trouble with ebook TOC

I'm trying to create an ebook using a template in Pages.  I'm having two problems with the Table of Contents.
    1.  The pages numbers are not right.  Many of them say 1 and the numbering is off.  If I click on the page number, it takes me to the right chapter - even if it is wrong.  For example, if Chapter 3 starts on page 20.... the TOC will say Chapter 3 is page 1.  However, if I click on the 1 - it still takes me to Chapter 3.
    2.  I go into the inspector under TOC and cannot remove the Subheadings.  I want to just have the Chapter names and page numbers in my TOC, so I turned off Headings and Subheadings, however - the subheadings don't disappear from the actual TOC.
Can anyone help with these issues?
    Thanks a bunch!
    Larry

    1. It sounds to me that you are using sections and restarting the numbering on one.
Have Contue from previous section selected  for each and every section.
    2. If you have used the style Sub heading and don't want it to show in the table of contents you have to deselect it in the Inspector palette. In my image you can see I only used one Heading. The button to the right is checked so the page number is added in the TOC.
