No sound in from sound card

I just installed an Audiophile 2496 sound card on my Mac- G4. I'm running OS-10.4.11.
What I want to do is to record from my turntable into Deck 3.5.
In System preferences- I checked the sound card as my input device- but it has no sound coming into my Mac?
i also have no sound coming into my program Deck.
Can someone please help me set this up so I get sound from this card?
Thanks

Please accept my apologies for jumping in the conversation.
Questions: have you checked in the Console logs that the driver software for the M-Audio card was correctly installed? Does the System Profiler reports your card? Are your input and output correctly configured under the "Patchbay/Router" and "Hardware Settings" tab of your driver program? Is the output level of your record player pick-up sufficient to drive the analog card input?

  • I need to get sound events from sounds embedded in a MovieClip

I'm working on a SoundManager class for a game development
platform. Unfortunately, I can't leverage the Sound class because
the requirements are that the sounds for an application would be
embedded in individual MovieClip objects and set to stream as the
    clip plays.
The idea is that this would allow third-party developers to
make simple edits to the sounds by using the envelope controls for
the embedded sounds. I can manually fire an event when the sound
finishes by calling a custom method in the last frame of the movie
clip, however, this is not completely accurate and it makes it
    impossible to seamlessly loop sounds.
Now, the Flash player must be aware that the sound has
finished playing. I presume that sounds embedded in the IDE are
handled by the Sound class in some way. Is there any way at all
that I can expose an event when the embedded sound finishes
    playing?
I'd really prefer to use another approach, and just attach
sound files from a Library or from external files, but I don't have
a choice in this particular case. This is the way the application
    has to work.
I will probably have to give up on the precision I want in
order to complete this job on time, but I refuse to believe that
what I'm trying to do is impossible. I would appreciate any help
    anyone can give me.

You'll have to update your OS on your Macbook.

  • No sound from tv card

    Hi!
I can't seem to get sound from my tv card, but the video works fine. I have a Leadtek TV2000 XP Expert (like this one). The card uses the CX23880/1/2/3 decoder, and the kernel modul loads on boot (it has to be, because I get the video). The only problem is that i can't hear sound. I connected the audio output from the card to my on-board sound card over the cd input line. The card worked on opensuse, and pclinuxos, so I know it works. I just dont know how to set it up on arch.

I followed the directions here: http://inspirated.com/2007/04/05/alsa-l … th-mplayer and made the command:
    mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:norm=NTSC:input=0:device=/dev/video1:chanlist=us-cable:alsa:adevice=hw.1,0:amode=2:audiorate=32000:forceaudio:immediatemode=0

  • Every time I scroll, there's a clicking sound coming from the top left corner of my macbook

Similar to the clicking sound of my hard drive, every time I scroll, or whenever there is any sort of animation on my screen, there's a similar clicking sound coming from the top left corner on my , around the area where the microphone is. I know the hard drive is at the bottom right corner, so is this a graphics card issue or am I overlooking the issue?

It is better to take the MBP to the Apple store for evaluation.
They have the diagnostic tools to make sure that there is no problem with the computer.

  • Wrong sampling rate from Sound Input Read VI on Dell Latitude E6510

    Hi,
    When I
receive data from the sound card with the Sound Input Read VI, the actual
sampling rate is not equal to the sampling rate set in the Sound Input
Configure VI. I estimate the sampling ratio by dividing the number of samples received
by the difference between the first and the last t0 from Sound Input Read. For
example, if the sampling rate is set to 7000 S/s, the actual sampling rate is
around 6900 S/s. If the sampling rate is set to 7050 S/s, the actual sampling
    rate is around 7200.
    This problem appears when the
code is run on my Dell Latitude E6510 machine. When I run the
same code on my Lenovo ThinkPad, the sampling rate is correct.
    The Labview application I
am developing is to be used to acquire data synchronously from several sources,
including the sound card input. It is therefore important that the sampling rate
    is correct.
    If anybody has any idea
about what may cause this problem, and a way to fix it, I would be grateful.
    Ole

It has been a trend the last years that sound card only support some sampling rates, not a range. You should refer to your sound card manual for this kind of information.  You should also be aware of that the NI sound interface is junk, and they do care about it either. Use the WaveIO interface instead See the link. But I am quite sure your problem is related to the sound card hardware not some NI driver issue

Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted

  • Strange "Whooshing" Sound glitch from Premiere CS6, then horrible errors.

About 3 out of 4 times when I try to either play a clip in the timeline, or load an audio clip into the source veiwer, Premiere makes a soft "whoosh" or sighing sound, and completely locks up.  When this happens, ALL sound on my computer goes dead.  I can't play audio from any other program or source.  Usually, Premiere let's me start interacting with it again after 5-10 seconds, and sound generally comes back after 30-60 seconds, but the issue happens again as soon as I try to do anything with my project, and sometimes it requires a hard reset to fix.
This has made editing nearly impossible.  I've been editing video professionally for about 2.5 years, but I'm completely self taught and new to premiere, and I don't know if there's something small and basic I'm totally ignorant of that would fix this.

  • 2 ZS Platinum with Logitech 5300e- No sound comes from rear speake

I just bought a new 2 ZS Platinum sound card and I use fairly new Logitech 5300e 5. speakers but no matter what I am playing, no sound comes from the rear speakers. However everythingh sounds fine in the front left, center and front right. As most posts on this board would suggest....yes, all speakers are securely connected and the switch on the back of the subwoofer is set to 5.. Windows control panel is set to 5., and so is everything else that asks. Im pretty sure I installed it correctly because the card shows up and I can hear good sound but only from the front. I read somewhere that I still needed a codec called ac3 so I downloaded it but there is still no sound. I updated the card with the latest driver which looks like was released in 2005. Is there ANY way to get real 5. sound? Do I need to purchase something else, a new codec? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

Does the speaker test work in 5. channel mode? If it doesn't then it would like the X-Fi's lost the centre channel.
In that case you can try unplugging your speakers, changing into 2.0 mode plugging them back in and then changing to 5. channel mode and just fiddling about. 'tis a common problem with the X-Fi on a fresh install to lose or merge channels. There's no fix for it but to fiddle with the speaker/THX console settings and to plug and unplug stuff until the X-Fi decides to route stuff properly.

  • No sound after upgrading video card on Pavilion Slimline?

    Note: Solution follows this post.
I submit this due to the fact that I could not find a suitable resolution for this problem in these forums.  Hopefully someone else can receive some benefit from it.
I just upgraded my video card in my Pavilion Slimline to an PCI-E ATI 4650.  After the upgrade I get no sound whatsoever from the Realtek HD sound (onboard).  In checking the property sheet of the soundcard, I can see that the Realtek device is set to use HDMI output.  This is fine except for the fact that HDMI is not being used.  I am using the Analog plug on the rear of the soundcard.
    Windows 7 x86
    4G Ram
    ASUS TV Tuner
    ATI 4650 PCI-E Video

The resolution that worked for me is as follows:
1.) Open device manager and disable any other installed audio devices.  (For me this was the ATI HDMI audio device that is installed with the ATI Video Card and also the Audio device used by the ASUS TV Tuner I have)
2.) With only the Realtek Audio device enabled, reboot.  Be ready to press F10 to get into your BIOS setup options.
3.) Within your BIOS find the settings for your onboard Audio device.  Change that setting from "Auto" to "Enabled".  Save your changes and reboot.  (This step may or may not be necessary but is included here as a precautionary measure just in case.)
Upon reboot your sound should be working properly. (Mine was)
4.) Now go back into Device Manager/Audio properties and "Enable" the devices you disabled earlier.  Check to make sure sound is still working afterwards.  If all is still working, reboot and check it again just to be sure.

  • SR5139UK No sound with new graphics card

    Hi
I replaced my graphics card , as the picture was becoming blurred, and often froze when warm.  The new card is a ASUS EAH 5450  Silent card.  Now for some strange reason I no longer have any sound available from my computer.  If I insert the old card, i instantly get sound.  I have uninstall both the sound drivers for Realtek, and the graphic driver without resolving the problem.
    Any suggestions?

Are you using a HDMI connected monitor with internal speakers in the monitor? If you set HDMI as your default sound device in Realtek then you might get sound out of your standalone speakers.  There is a way to get both working by using a separate Y  audio cable into the back of your PC with one feed going to the monitor and the other to your standalone speakers.

  • Buzzing sound coming from MSI GTX 280

    Hi guys,
I purchased a new PC with a MSI GTX 280 OC and I got a buzzing sound coming from the case.
I get the buzzing sound changing frequencies with certain 3D applications (games), windows vista screensavers, windows aero... i also hear when when resize/minimize/maximize the windows.
I thought it was PSU related, as it was the gfx card pulling power, but I've tried a Corsair HX620W and a Antec TruePower 1000W and I still got the buzzing sound with both the PSU's.
It seems originating from the MSI GTX 280.
Is anyone familiar with this problem or what can be done?
Also, for some awkward reason, I can't update my videocard drivers eithers. The installer holds at 50% and just holds without progressing. (I tried the official nvidia drivers and the ones on the MSI website). Same problem when manually installing the drivers.
For what it's worth, the retail box was also quite damaged.
Do I have a faulty card?
or is a bad combination with the rest of my system?
    My system:
    CPU : Intel E8600 (2x 3.33 GHz)
    RAM : 4 GB Corsair
GFX : MSI GTX 280 OC
    MOBO : Asus P5Q-E
    PSU : Corsair HX620W
    OS : Vista x64 Home Premium SP1

Its a known fact that some GTX260/280, all brands, not just MSI, hum or buzz under load.
This is due to certain electrical components on the pcb.
Maybe you can RMA it, if you have a nice shop where you bought it and if your lucky the new one doesnt produce that sound, but no garantuees.
Some hardcore tweakers will open up the plastic case and put a few drops of superglue on the copper windings and that will solve it.
Its no more then reasonating copperwindings under load.

  • XP 64 bit - 5.1 - Rear Sound comes from front Speak

    Hi,
i have upgraded from xp 32 bit to XP 64. I have a problem with my elite pro:
This card ist playing now the 5. rear sound on the both front boxes. I'm extremly frustrated because i'm trying to solve this problem since 5 Hours. I have tried a lot of drivers - the rear sound comes from the front.
    Anybody any idea ?

"You know, you could just walk behind your computer and switch the cables front and rear cables... "?Brilliant, that would make all sound come out the rears. Why didn't I think of that??I've cleaned and reinstalled, tried drivers without updates, updates without drivers, the best i can do id enable CMSS 3D and get a kind of *******ised stereo that i cam fade front to rear. I cannot get 5. separation with XFi XtremeGamer Fatalty Pro under XP64 and 4gB RAM, and it REALLY pisses me off that I accidenetally helped the OP and I'm stuck with the same issue LOL.

  • Fried Sound Board or Sound Card ???

This has been troubleshot with attempting PRAM, PMU, Disk Utility, Extended Hardware test, etc . . to no avail
There is no sound whether from Itunes or from web streams
There is also no chime at startup
I hooked up a direct line out into speakers and headphones as well with no sound
There is no optical light in the jacks on this model from what I can see
However, it did work coming from the USB into a Griffin and then into external speakers
So, someone said that the sound board is out
Another said that it is integrated into the logic board
Another said that, since the sound card is a Printed Circuit Board (PCB); then it is synonymous with the soundboard
    So, my question is
    Is my sound card fried?
Here is the part I would like to replace
    http://www.ifixit.com/cart/customer/product.php?productid=460&cat=&page=1
    not bad for 80 bucks
I really would hate to have to replace a logic board as that would be 10 times as much and I might as well buy a new computer

Did Extended Hardware Test disclose any errors? I have a PB 17" 1.3 that developed the "no sound in or out problem" and the AHT test reveals "Error 2ISS/1/5:0x42".
I believe this indicates an error on the main logic board, although I do not have access to the tech documents that explain the error codes from AHT. (Also, I don't have access to an authorized Apple dealer, since I live hundreds of miles from civilization.)
Replacing the sound card did NOT change the situation for me. Check with your authorized dealer before spending $80 on a sound card.
Personally, I love my PB so much (and need sound input/output so little) that I am willing to forgo audio functionality. My research (PowerBook Service Source) indicates that Apple techs will probably replace components one-at-a-time until the problem is fixed. (First, replace the sound board flex cable, then replace the sound board, and then replace the logic board.)
If you are still dead set on replacing the sound board, please contact me ([email protected]). It seems that I have a spare one...

  • Sound coming from headphone jack becomes heavily distorted at the slightest movement of the headphone cable.

I use headphones almost exclusively of my Macbook Pro (Early 2011, way out of warranty) so this has really been annoying me. For about 1-2 weeks now whenever the wire from the headphones I have plugged in to the jack moves, even slightly, the sound coming from the left side disappears almost entirely while the sound from the right side becomes quiet and filled with static. Strangely, it doesn't appear to happen with everything that I'm doing on my computer. For example when playing games the sound seems to work just fine for the most part, but playing music or watching Netflix causes issues whenever the cord moves, which is really annoying.
To get it to stop, I have to move wiggle the plug around in the jack and slowly move the cord into a place where it will not be affected by movement very easily. I read that some people have been able to get around this by buying an external sound card and using the headphone jack on there, but I'd rather not do that if possible as there isn't really anywhere that I can put it without most likely picking up some interference. Plus I only have two USB ports, so I have to use a powered USB hub thats about 2-3 feet away from my computer for most things. Anyone know if this is a viable solution or how much it would cost to fix at the Apple Store?

Also, I have tried restarting my computer, messing with the audio settings, and various other settings that I thought might help.
