No sound in playback

Hello,
I have just bought a firebox and recorded succesfully with it. The only problems that I have is that I can't play it back nor can I hear any sound when I have record enabled but not recording. I do know that it records because I bounced it and it sounded fine. Please help this newbie.

Where is it set at?
I'm not sure I understood you right though... Why not just turn off rec-arming on the tracks when you're done?

Have you tried adjusting the "Audio Out" and the "Dolby Digital" settings in settings > audio and video? It may be worth trying several combinations of these settings, although typically it is the "Dolby Digital" setting that causes most problems for users.
If you are using a sound system/receiver, make sure that you have correctly mapped the input port on your sound system to the output, if you are unsure about how to do this, refer to the manual that came with your sound system.
Have you tried playing various content sources (i.e. podcasts, music, iTunes Store video, other video etc), do you have the same problem with all types of content? If you use optical you might also check that you can see a red light at the end of your optical audio cable. Is your optical audio cable plugged straight into your sound system, or does it go through a switch or other device?

IMovie '11: No sound on playback but volume on scrubbing

The subject says it all. I have iMovie '11, I get no sound on playback for audio from any source however I can hear sound if I scrub through the video. If I export the movie I get sound there too.
I'm running 10.7.x on an iMac.

I just found this post and I tried it, and it worked for me. I've been searching for 2 days for a solution to this problem, so out of kindness I am reposting this answer to questions that still are unsolved.
"I FIGURED IT OUT!!! All you have to do is create an event. Go to File and click "New Event". Label it and drag whatever clips you want to preview. They all seem to work as long as they are in separate events."
So create a new event (not project, event). Highlight whatever clips you want to play with and drag them into that new event. Then go back to your project and look for clips from that event, not all iPhoto videos, just that event. You will hear them, and can now continue on.

Sound during import, but no clip capture or sound on playback,

There is sound in iMovie 5 from computer when importing video from camera, BUT no clips on shelf and no sound in playback. No wave in extracted audio. Video playback OK, but pale. Any ideas?

Sorry if I came off a bit testy. I use the Apple TV daily in my work environment for background noise and the issues totally derailed my workflow this morning.
So, I tried adjusting audio settings for both Dolby Digital and Audio Out. No luck.
Last resort time. Hardwired (USB cable) to my laptop and restored via iTunes. Success, audio fuctional across all apps. Not the best of solutions because of the time required to restore accounts for the various 3rd party apps on the Apple TV but it worked.
Guess I will never know what caused the 'no audio" issue though I suspect a bad/failed auto update. As convenient as that new feature is, it doesn't help when things go wrong.
A final note, beta software is supposed to be buggy, I undertstand. Production stuff isn't. I've been a loyal Apple user for 20+ years now because of their quality control. I've used competing products too and felt very annoyed at the lack of QC (looking at you Google TV). I would love to see quicker addressing of bugs on the Apple TV OS because a bad experience is what drives less-technical users away. It is a real game changer device if Apple were to even attempt to give it the level of support that other products get. Anyways, that's my soapbox moment.

My new Canon HF R400 makes clicking sound on playback. Canon replaced but still clicking sound. Same

Clicking sound on playback so annoying on most clips that I mute sound which is not the way I want my video to play. When I contacted Canon teck support they replaced but replacement has same problem. Either a terrible coincidence or something I'm doing wong. Please advise.

Try setting the camcorder on a tripod or a flat stable surface, then turn the Image Stabilizer off in the menu under [Other Settings] > > [Image Stabilizer].
When you record new video after doing both things above, do you still hear the clicking noise?

Cracking sound on playback........iTunes appears on desktop constantly

I have spent 3 days transfering part of my cd collection 16.45GB - 4121 songs, to iTunes 6.0 and get a cracking sound on playback and iTunes appears on desktop and stop/play does NOT work anymore......
can anyone please help?

Sound on playback of iTunes music either on iTunes or Sonos stops.

Have had this problem for a while on different platforms but seems worse now.
Had XP on laptop and library on time capsule. The sound on playback of iTunes songs would quite, but iTunes still acted like it was playing. Sound would restart after a few songs went by or if you restarted the song.
Went to iMac partially because of this issue and now still have the problem. Have iTunes library loaded locally on the iMac. So then thought that it was an Airport issue. So I went with Sonos system and the problem persists. I see similar posts all over the web, but don't see solutions
I've been sold on the fact that Apple products just work, but that has definitely NOT been my experience with iTunes. Not even close.

... if no joy there, what make and model of PC do you have? are you using a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Vista?

No sound on playback with adobe premiere elements 13 . Sound does not exists on camcorder , but not when uploaded to desktop (window 8) and playback with adobe premiere elements 13. Please assist.

Black screen and no sound on playback

For some reason my whole screen goes black when I am trying to use fce hd 3.. That was just recently. Before that I couldn't get any sound on playback and none of the solutions offered for similiar problems has worked. The files were imported from imovie.

First trash your preferences and see if that fixes it.

No Sound Device/Playback Device --At the end of my rope

First let me state that I've tried several methods to fix my problem already, and none appear to help or work, I've followed the advice given by several others, and I'm really not sure what I can do at this point. I even bought a new Soundcard thinking it would solve the problem...but it has not.
If I were to go into Device Manager right now, Windows detects TWO Audio Devices:
Soundblaster Xi-Fi Extreme Audio
Vinyl AC '97 Codec Combo Driver (WDM)
The latter I can easily disable in BIOS on Startup, but this does not help me one bit.
I have checked my Sounds and Audio Devices:
No Audio Device/No Playback Device/Sound Recording is Soundblaster/Midi is Creative SoundFont Synth/No Voice Playback/Voice Recording is Soundblaster.
I have checked my Services (Local):
Windows Audio Service is "Started" and set to Automatic?
I have checked other media devices and get errors regarding "Direct Sound" or "Wave Out".
Regarding the programs related to my drivers, I have tried to uninstall them and reinstall them in Safe Mode but this has not helped. In particular one of the programs VIA Audiodeck (related to my onboard audio) cannot seem to find certain files to uninstall itself, aside from the fact it couldn't run when I installed it in the first place. (In part I'm looking for a free program that can uninstall stuff that can't be uninstalled the usual way).
Finally I've discovered I'm getting errors in trying to check for Windows Updates (even though I have Service Pack 3 now). Windows Automatic Updates says it's "On" but doesn't show up.
I don't really know what the root of my problem is, as I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers several times (even attempted to?clean up the registry from leftover fragments). I've used programs like Belarc Advisor and Driver Scan but these don't tell me what to do or how to proceed. I'm at my wit's end here.

Can't get sound from playback of video from curve 8500 series

I video taped my daughter singing. I took it off my phone and placed it on my computer so I could post it online. I don't get any sound when I play it back on my computer using Windows Media Player. It keeps telling me the Network is too busy to playback in original quality, The picture is great but there's no sound. I'll try using Quick Time player but how do I get the sound back. Playback on my phone is perfect, sound and all.

Try doing a cleansweep and reinstall of the sound card. Follow these instructions to cleansweep. After you have finish reinstalling, try the EAX console again

Recording videos on Iphone 5 but no sound in playback

When I record videos on my Iphone and watch them in playback all i hear is a buzzing sound?! I've resetted my settings and restored... it still doesn't work and my phone is 1 week neww....

Oh my I can totally out do your stupidness :-). I spent over an hour on the Internet googling it! I powered off/on, hard restart, reset the settings. Still no audio. Because it was less than 30 days since I bought it my phone i called my carrier and they said to just bring it in and they switched it out for a new phone. I get home, put my screen protectors on once again, sync it and get everything all set up. Tried a video and same thing! Spent a good five minutes flipping it over and then I noticed that little black hole between the camera and flash... and figured it out! I am, however, happy that I was actually able to help someone else out for the first time!

Sound recorder playback volume low ?

I have a dv6000 notebook , for the first time ever I tried recording sound using windows movie maker to add ''narration'' but the playback volume is very low .
I tried the windows '' sound recorder '' and got the same result .
I've been through all the standard adjustments and settings and have gone into ' control panel ' and adjusted 'levels' and everything else with no success .
When I record a video using the sound on my camera the volume is fine - it's just the mic sound that is low whether I use an external mic or the built in ones .

I have the same issue and I see no responses to your inquiry.. This Windows help menu leaves much to be desired. Im sure I will one day figure out how to work this version that I had no clue I was buying bc it should come with a warning label.. its completely different and agonizing and great help menu lovely.. Im sorry to be so negative wish I could help.. Ill sit here all night till I figure it out and then post an option on how to adjust the recording volume.. Unreal..

Disabling Sound Devices (Playback and Recording) via Group Policy?

I am using an HT-Omega Claro II soundcard which has multiple playback and recording options once installed. For this specific configuration, I want to be able to disable all the unwanted options (including things like the standard PC speakers) in such a
way that only an administrator can make modifications to the available devices. Is there a way to do this via a GPO? I know that via the Sound control panel I can (and have) disable the options I do not want to be available, but there are some users who are
saavy enough to be able to find them and re-enable, which is creating problems for some of the applications that need to be used.
Any input on how to rectify this is greatly appreciated.

I dont think there are sound specific GPO's. If you want to disable the sound, you can disable the sound service from GPO :

DivX player - QuickTime - no sound during playback

Trying to play avi files on this MacBook - downloaded QuickTime 7 and DivX player for Mac - both play the video wonderfully but with no sound - My computer is not muted - nor do I have the DivX player muted - playback is fine on the Windows side using GOM player - Would be gratefull for any advice on how to resolve this issue

Are you actually using both programs at once? After putting DivX on any of my machines clicking a file would open it in Quicktime and play just fine, also I saw this today I havent tried it myself but people seem happy with it

Sporadic missing sound on playback

Can anyone help / provide advice?
Occasionally, on play back of recorded TV programmes, the sound disappears. By rewinding/fast-forwarding the programme a few minutes either way, several times, the sounds will eventually come back.
So the sound is actually recorded, but seems to be ‘skipped’ during playback.
This is now becoming very annoying. Anyone had similar experiences or know of any resolution?

This happens to me regularly - playback for about ten minutes and then sound disappears. Wind back a few seconds, hit play and sound is there again.
Also, occasionally the entire playback freezes up, again winding back a few seconds (or hitting stop and then resume play) seems to fix this.
Not quite sure why this is happening - I also woke up one morning to find the box had rebooted itself and was just showing a red X on the screen - had to reboot about five times, each time it tried to upgrade (!) and displayed cogs before freezing up, but on the fifth time it booted up okay but had deleted all my recordings. Bah.
Maybe there's a bad batch of boxes out there?
