No sound in premier elements 7

I have been working on a video and added music. There was sound at that time.  When I came back to it the sound was no longer there.  The speakers are fine as I can play music on the computer.  Any suggestions for getting the music to play on the video?

timothy72
I just wanted to make sure of the steps in the scenario. When did the soundtrack sound get lost, before or after you added the narration with the Narration Tool?
Right now there is a problem, so far reported for only version 12/12.1, where there is a loss of sound in the numbered audio tracks and soundtrack when narration is added to the project, using the program's Narration Tool. Please check out the following blog post on the issue and see if any of that applies to your situation.
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE12: Audio Losses After Narration Addition
Is the music from iTunes? And, did you use as is or convert it to .mp3 or .wav before import into Premiere Elements 7?
Please allow me to go over the steps that you took to make sure we are OK on the details
(1) Opened a project and imported the video. Then replaced the video's audio with your music. You say that you completely closed out of the video. What did you do? Did you save close the project at that point? Or, did you go to the export area to export the video with its new audio? That is where I am losing you as it relates to what you next wrote
I made a copy of the video on the computer, and the sound plays there. What did you do next to make a copy of the video on the computer...
Bottom lines on where I am heading
a. Did you maybe not save changes that you made in the Timeline editing?
b. Are you involved in this sound loss with addition of narration from the program's Narration Tool?
Please review, consider, and then we will try to gather all the information to finalize our troubleshooting strategy.
Thank you.

  • No sound within Premier Elements 13 organizer

I have been waiting for the Premier to work and now Aranjun got it working for me however now I cant hear my videos in the organizer?
I can now get into the Editor which I couldnt do before but now its the sound I cant hear at all in the organizer ?
The files are AVCHD (MTS) files so they are not old videos. Im sure that there is a quick fix for this problem but I am unable to find it on the forums anywhere, or on google?
am in the organizer not in the editor? I have checked on You tube and the tutorials always show sound when they are checking their videos in the organizer? I can also hear them fine when I play them back from my hard drive.

    Good morning ATR
I have searched on the Adobe website and found the Format and Extensions for Premier import and they are below with the files that I am using?
I am not a technical person and so this is really difficult for me to spend hours trying to get software to work
Whilst I appreciate your help in this, I can see that you even type technical which I have to then type into Google what you have written to try to get answers
This I shouldn't have to do to find a solution
Like I said I appreciate your help but I have been trying to get this piece of software working since Christmas day which is ridiculolous
Only one member if staff has contacted me and he sorted my problem within 5 minutes
Where is a member of staff now?
I am encouraged to find my solution to my problem through a forum with other people that are having problems!!
    Why is that?
It should be staff that can help and solve the problem? After all this their business and company
I have a trial version of this and refuse to keep downloading extra software to get one piece of software to work!!
When I go online to get support I have to choose certain options which sometimes only give me the option to go to a forum!! Why? I should be able to solve my problem straight way, not spend hours on line typing in my problem
There is hours time difference so when you kindly reply back to me, I have been to work for hours and come back and then, like I say it's very hard for me to understand
Adobe have their support mission, well that is nonexistent as far as I can see
The chat people are not technical and transfer to another member who once again isn't technical;?
These are people that need help and are not getting it!! Absouiltely crazy and I will be moving to another video converter if I cant find an easy way of video editing
Like say I don't want you to think that I am bleating on about you as I am not. You have replied back to so many people but really it should be adobe staff that reply back and support their customers
I will be taking this further as I have spent so many hours in front of this computer trying to decipher emails to know what they mean and try to make this damn thing work
I spent days over Christmas in front of this computer when I should have been with my family
Arunjun, who helped me from Adobe within five minutes did mention in his message that I could send him a person message but I don't know how to do this ?
Anyone help me that will make this software work straight way

  • PSE 12 and Premier Elements 12 Sound Card Compatibility

Specs say need a Direct X 9 or 10 sound card or one that is compatible.  Is DTS sound+ card compatible?  Found a Windows laptop on a Black Friday special that meets all the other requirements but can't find an answer about the sound card.  Hope someone has a quick answer since the sale on the laptop ends tomorrow.  Thanks.
And now I know thre answer to my question.  After almost an hour on the phone with HP, I know that the sound cards are compatible--the tech that helped was really great and ended up running around their call site to check with other tech reps to find the answer.  Apparently not a very common question, since before I submitted my question here, I had talked with Best Buy and the tech I spoke with there didn't have the answer.
Thanks to all who stopped to look at my question.

  • Premier Elements 9 - Exported file, poor sound quality

As it says on the tin really.
Sound quality is fine when in premier elements, sounds like the speakers are broken when I export.
I've tried messing with the properties before exporting but nothing seems to be working. To be fair I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be changing properties wise so it's been mostly trail and error (or mostly error)
    Any advice appreciated!!

Open the Audio Meters (under the audio icon on your timeline) and watch them as you play your timeline. Your movie's sound should peak at zero.
It sounds as though your audio is overmodulated (too loud).

  • Downloaded Premier Elements 9 It does not have SartSound in the Audio Tools Button. How can I get it

Having pruchased Premier Elements vis download, I obviously have not installations disc. After working on a project, I went into audio tools to open SmartSound Quicks. It was not included in the tools menu. I know you can add it to tools if you purchased Pre 9 retail and have the disc. Is this an error in that it is not included in the download version? If not, why was not downloaded and how can I get it? Is there a plugin available. Smart sound shows one I believe for Pre pro. Will that work for Pre 9?

I hope what I am telling you responds to what you would like to do.
As one of the respondents mentioned, you can't use AirPlay.  What was not mentioned is you can use HomeSharing.
You need to activate Home Sharing on both your computer's iTunes/Prefs/Sharing and in Settings/iPod in the iPad.  Using the iPod app, select your computer's library and initiate any requests (music) on the iPad.
Personally I believe Airsharing and Homesharing are some of the worst work I've seen come out of Apple.  Its inconsistent between devices and is needlessly complicated by having two different capabilities essentially doing the same thing.  Throw in the Remote app and you now have three capabilities essentially doing the same thing with different interfaces and inconsistent functionality.

  • Error Message when trying to open prodect in Premier Elements 10

I created a slideshow on Premier Elements 10, and saved it.  When I try to open the project I get an error message
"This type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed"  Help please.

What steps are you taking to open it? It sounds like you may be trying to import the project file into your project.
To open a .prel file, go to the File menu and select Open.
Also, when creating a slideshow, be sure to downsize your photos to no larger than 1000x750 pixels in size, as I say in my books! This will save you a lot of struggles later.

  • Install Adobe Premier Elements 9 results in Windows Installer window pop up

Installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 fine.  When installing Adobe Premier Elements 9, the installation fails during 'Configuring Windows Installer' and a pop up window appears with the title 'Windows Installer'.  What do I need to do to get this software installed?

You need at least 30GB (or better, 60GB) free defragmented space for PRE9 to work. Do you have this? You may have been on the borderline during install and your first project, so when you rendered your project, or restarted the machine, (possibly Windows creating a system restore point) your free space dropped below the limit.
Can you also confirm that you didn't install any new software between the saving and opening of your project.
Here are some general points you should work through to maximise your chances of success
    Install all Windows Updates.
Install latest version of Apple QuickTime (v7.6.8 at time of writing). Even if you don't use QuickTime, PRE relies heavily on it.
Install most recent graphics and sound drivers from the manufacturers web sites.
    Run Disk Cleanup.
    Run Defragmenter.
Temporarily disable any anti-virus realtime scanning.
And give us some information about your clip and hardware:
Use the GSpot Codec Information Utility to analyse the file and post screen image.
What project preset did you use?
Where did the clip come from?
How did you get it into PRE?

  • Adobe Premier Elements 12 - Exporting trimmed AVCHD files from the project timeline, to a separate folder for burning to Blu Ray disc with other software?

Hi, can anyone help please.  This is the first time I have used this forum.
I use Premier Elements 12, a PC, 64 Bit, Windows 7, high powered computer.
Just started trimming AVCHD in this software.
I would like to know if it is possible to export trimmed AVCHD files to a folder elsewhere (files which were originally imported into the project timeline), so that I can burn the trimmed AVCHD files (not in 'Project' form)  to Blu Ray disc (using another software which I know that works to burn video files to Blu Ray disc).

Thanks for the update. Your progress sounds very good.
Premiere Elements 11, 12, and 13 are similar. But, version 13 has significant feature removals and a new Elements Organizer.
So, when viewing or reading tutorials, try to determine the version of the program being used for the tutorials. As I typically write
principles tend to remain the same from version to version, but the features tend to move, change, or be discontinued from version
to version. And, it is frustrating to be armed with principles when you cannot find a feature.

  • Using Text in Premier Elements

I am using a trial version of Premier Elements to see if I want to buy it.  I really want to create slide show with captions and sounds.  Premier seemed like something I should look into, and there are sound affects, etc.  However, I don't see a way to type text as in a caption on a picture.
I may be better served with a slide show presentation but each one is missing something important, which is what led me to Premier Elements.  I don't want to make movies.  I just want to string photos together in a cohesive presentation with text and music or sound affects.
    Thank you,
    Pam Barkas

First, remember that Premiere Elements is a video editor. So it will create slideshows for DVD or BluRay -- but at video resolution (720x480 and 1920x1080 pixels, respectively). So if you're looking for high-quality, high-resolution software for creating slideshows, you might be better off looking into a program like Pro Show Gold.
But if you are trying to create videos with still photos in them, Premiere Elements can certainly do it. And you can certainly add titles or captions to each photo simply by selecting a title template from the Titles & Text panel.
A companion program called the Organizer is also included with Premiere Elements, and it includes a dedicated Slideshow Creator (under its Create menu) which lets you add captions to your slides one photo at a time, arrange your slide order, add transitions and pan & zooms between slides and add narration and music.

  • Premier Elements 2 not capturing video

I have operated Premier Elements 2 for some years, but I am currently having problems with the video capture. The controls operate the camera, the sound is on, but the picture does not appear and nothing downloads. I have reinstalled the program but it makes no difference. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the forum.
The Capture process is only a byte-for-byte copy of the signal over the FireWire cable. If you are getting Device Control, plus the Audio, then something is not making its way across the cable, or though the connectors.
The first thing that I would look at is the FW cable. Try another one.
Next, do you have more than one FW connector (iLink, IEEE-1394) on your computer? Is so, they another one.
What is the make/model of your camera?
What is your Project Preset, and does it match the recording settings on your camera?
Have you updated your video drivers very, very recently? If not, do so immediately from the video card mfgr's. Web site.

  • Premier Element 8 can't open any project on Windows 7

Once again my Premier Element 8 can't open any project on Windows  7 (64-bit).  This  is same problem that happened to me 6 months ago.  I reported it to the online  Adobe support, but got no help.  Eventually I worked around it on my  own.  Now the problem is back and I can not open any project, even after  rebooting.  The behavour that I see is that I can open a new or old  project, but the Premier window shows-up as having zero size.  The bug  has something to do with the Premier program thinking that the window  size should be zero.  The program shows-up in the active task list, and  the Alt-Tab key shows Premier window has only a window title bar (where  as other active programs show-up as a thumbnail image of their window  contents), and the system taskbar also shows the Premier program as active but only as a window title bar (see attached image below)
When  I reported to the online Adobe support forum 6 months ago that I had worked around  the problem, the answer was something like "good that you fix it", BUT Adobe  did not seem to be interested in understanding and fixing the problem.  They just seem relieved when customers can figure-out work-around on  their own.  I see that another peron just reported this same problem on the Adobe forums, and got the same treatment.  He also found a work-around, and the support person replied when "that's nice".  This really bites me where it hurts.  I'm burning  non-productive hours because of their bugs, and they don't care enough  about the bugs to get engineering to fix them.  It's things like this  that make me look for another software vendor.
But today I really do need to work on my video project.  If there is a document work-around for the "Premier show a zero-sized window" bug, PLEASE let me know about it.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide,
    -- Ole Pa

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for looking at this on Saturday, and for your question.  What I mean by a "zero sized window" is that Premier's window has been created and the program is running, but when I give Premier focus nothing is shown on the screen.  I know the program is running because I can see it on the Windows taskbar, in the Alt-Tab list, and in the task manager's list of running programs.  When I use the Windows taskbar to alternately show and hide the window, it behaves normally, except when I show it nothing shows on the screen.  Also, when Premier starts up, I do see it loading the project, but when the project loads the window disappears. Premier has this annoying design of starting with its window maximized, and then automatically resizing the window to what it thinks is the size that I want.  When the bug is active, the size seems to be zero, or minimized, or off the screen, or who knows what.  Just not anything that I can see.  The little thumbnail that Windows 7 shows of running programs on the taskbar makes be think the window has been resized so that it is zero pixels wide and zero pixels high.
In my earlier report of this bug, I described it as "minimizing to the taskbar" because that is what it appeared to doing at that time.  Here is a link to my earlier report:
       http://forums.adobe.com/thread/704857
That thread has screen snapshots that show the visual atrifacts of the bug on Windows 7.  I experienced the same bug again this morning.  The workaround that I had done last year did not work this morning.  Here is what I did to recover this time:
Uninstalled Premier Elements 8.  Deleted my personal setting, and also "smart sound".
    Rebooted my PC.
Installed Premier Element 8 from the CD.
    Rebooted my PC
Things were still not quite right.  In fact the bug appeared to still be there, but all of a sudden it started showing me the window after the project was loaded.  Sigh.  I will never launch that little startup program again (the one behind the desktop icon), and only open ".prel" files directly.  Not sure if that will help or not, but at least it takes one variable out of the startup procedure.
I wish that I could tell you how to reproduce the bug, but in fact I do not know what I do to provoke it.  My PC is
    - Dell XPS9000 (Intel i7, 3.33GHz, 12GB ram, 4.5 TB disk)
    - Windows 7 Ultimate
    - Two 24 inch LCD displays
    - Runs several Adobe programs (like PS, LR, Acrobat).
Don't get me wrong:  I love Adobe software.  You are the best in the graphic arts industry.  That's why I buy and run your stuff.  But when I have a deadline hanging over my head, and I have to spend 1/2 day getting the software to just come up, I get crazy and want to herd feed animals for a living!  Maybe I'll have to do that if the economy does not improve in 2011...
    Thanks, Ole Pa

  • Premier Elements 9 - DVD Main Menu not showing navigation highlights

    Hi All,
Apologies if this discussion / question appears twice. I seemd to lose the original and did not think it had been posted.
New to Adobe and just started using Premier Elements 9 for a basic DVD project.
I managed to work out importing, editing, transitions, adding soundtrack etc and got to the DVD Menu stage where everything seemed to come together.
Once i had burned to DVD i checked it worked on the PC which it did but when i tried in a number of DVD players, there was an issue with Main Menu marker navigation.
This project has a main and four scene menus plus an 'Extras' marker i added to the Main Menu pointing toward Stills..
On all the Scene menus, i can see a clear highlight dot move from scene to scene as i navigate with the remote, showing where I am as you would expect.
On the Main Menu however, where i have Play Movie, Scenes and Extras markers, there is no sign of any dot or highlight to tell you which of these you are currently on so its a lottery as to which you get when navigating with a remote from the Main Menu.
I am pretty sure this is user error and if anyone has thoughts of what i have done or not done when i set up the DVD Menu section maybe, i would very much appreciate it.
A little additional info is apart from adding the 'Extras' button to the main menu i imported a still image/Logo to show up in the middle of the menu screen and added a sound clip to the main and all the 'Scene menus.
Whether that has anything to do with it i don't know.
thank you in advance for any clues as to what i have done wrong.
    Regards
    psutt.

    Hi ATR,
My sincere apologies for not getting back to you sooner. This project has been above and beyond my day to day work as an integrator to the Post Production area and everything went a little nuts over the last few weeks.
I wanted to let you know that I was successful in the end, thanks to your input.
I ended up substituting the ‘Fun in the Sun’ with’ Memory Box’ HD under ‘Memories’ and this was the magic solution.
I got bogged down trying to lengthen rolling end credits and  lengthening a title plate that headed the Extras but I left as is in the end.
The main thing was the menus worked just fine after the change so I won’t go near Fun in the Sun again if I do another sometime.
I kept it to NTSC widescreen and it looked fine.
Many thanks again for your input.

  • Windows shuts down Premier Elements 9 randomly

I have a more than adequate Windows 7 based computer.  My hard drive died before Christmas and I had to reinstall the software.  I created a new project with captured video and added some background music.  Did not save often unfortunately and lost it all when windows shut down the program.  Recreated it from scratch, saving often and still had occasional shut downs while creating the project.  It's only about a 30min video with some added sound tracks and a few title screens.  Now, when trying to make a DVD, it gets through Encoding 4 Menus and will begin encoding media.  Sometimes makes it 7% sometimes 80% and then windows message says program has stopped working, shutting down.  I see progress bar was still moving just seconds before the shutdown.  Tried to convert to an MPEG and save on my computer instead and got the same shutdown notice.  I just saw the FFDShow codec note and have not checked to see if that is on my computer or not.  Would deleting this folder potentially solve this?  Forgot to mention, Premier Elements is on non partitioned C drive with 100+GIG free space, save location is on a partitioned drive F with 300+GIG free space.

Is there an update link for Premier 9?  I saw one come through this morning for 9.0.3 but the one in your "Hangs UP" thread is only for 9.0.1.  Tried to update to 9.0.3 but would not connect to Adobe server this morning.
