No sound in Windows 8 Metro, Sound ok in Desktop.

I upgraded my HP Pavilion G7T 1000 CTO from Windows 7 Home 64 to Windows 8  Pro 64. Sound works in Desktop Mode. In Metro Mode when I OPEN the MUSIC Tile there is no sound when I click a song or album in MY MUSIC.
I have IDT Hi Def Driver 6.10.6315.0

Hello GPRogueCowboy,
You’re having problems with the sound while in the metro style of windows.
Open command prompt and run the following SFC /scannow. This should search the files and correct any errors that it can.
Here is a link to open command prompt in Windows 8.
You might have to run a refresh, which will uninstall windows and reinstall without affecting any of your files.
Here is a link on how to run a refresh.
Let me know how everything goes.

  • JavaOne 2012: JavaFX on iOS, Android and Windows 8 Metro???

Besides wonderful demos on JavaOne 2012 I'was wondering one big thing: Where are the news from JavaOne about JavaFX (embedded) running on iOS (ready to AppStore), Android and Windows 8 metro????

Thanks Adrian for that information! Another guy who spoke with people from Oracle told us via twitter that's not a technical and not a political problem! But what you say ("management has not deciced yet...") sounds like a political problem. I can't believe that Oracle does not believe in a developer demand for iOS and android support?!
Yeeees, many many developer are looking for a good(!) technology to develop crossplatform mobile applications for phones and tablets. currently there is no really good technology. As a developer you have to decide to choose the native way - so you have to develop 3 times the same app for iOS, android and windows 8 -/ metro, or choose the HTML5 way. Web apps written in HTML(5), javascript and CSS are good for small and simple things. But the main problem with web apps is the really poor rendering performance, especially of Android devices! Developing web apps with HTML frameworks like JQuery Mobile, Sencha Touch, Phonegab/Cordova and so on doesn't make much fun. It's really a hard and time consuming job to develop native looking apps with HTML5 which works performant too...
So what we really really need is a real crossplatform technology like Java and JavaFX! JavaFX for iOS, Android and Metro would be a killer technology! Java (Swing) is not really often used to develop main stream applications...Anybody know a popular application like Photoshop, Word, Firefox, Angry Bird, Evernote, ... written in Java Swing??? No, Java is only used for business applications and server code (J2EE).
So if Oracle invests many dollers in pushing JavaFX as the new platform for modern user interfaces, the most important thing - IMO - is to support modern operation systems like iOS, Android and Metro. There are so many young developers who developing innovativ apps for the iPhone - all these developers are Oracle clients of the future if they would use Java(FX)! The Java language is simple and JavaFX uses modern technologies like CSS and XML - technologies which are known by young developers.
So Oracle, please show us your stuff from your labs, publish Java embedded for iOS, Android and Metro.
The most important thing for me concerning JavaOne 2012 was any anncounement of "JavaFX on iOS, ....". But I was really disappointed to hear no single word of this topic...
So Oracle please speak to your developers and clients, speak with us and stop this annoying secretiveness...
    Best regards,
    Tobi

  • Deploy Windows 8 metro app in OSD

    Hello,
I'm working on certifying notebooks with Windows 8 image for corporate use and have faced some issues with Windows 8 sideloading.
Lenovo provides "Lenovo Settings" application for its notebooks. It's additional software to handle battery, wireless, etc. and it's implemented as Metro-style app. It could be found in Windows Store, however, Lenovo also provies stand-alone solution
for enterprise in .appx format that could be sideloaded. Unfortunately, Lenovo do not provide instructions on how to load and instead points to Microsoft documentation.
When I try to sideload application to user/machine after OOBE with dism or powershell - everything works great. Application appears to users and could be used.
I was also able to inject the application to .wim file in offline mode. I'm aware of necessary group policies and pre-set both of them:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Appx]
    "AllowAllTrustedApps"=dword:00000001
    "AllowDeploymentInSpecialProfiles"=dword:00000001
But the real problem comes when I try to deploy image to the fresh PC (I use SCCM 2012 SP1, OSD feature). I can list all loaded apps with (DISM /online /Get-ProvisionedAppxPackages) and Lenovo Settings app lists as installed during any action in task sequence
in FullOS mode. But when I first logon to the machine after deployment, application do not appear to user (I know about built-in Administrator restriction and I'm using custom account that is admin on the PC). Using the same command to view installed W8 applications,
Lenovo Settings do not appear any more in the list.
I was able to find one entry in the logs (Event Viewer -> Applications and Services Logs -> Microsoft -> Windows > AppxDeployment-Server -> Microsoft-Windows-AppXDeploymentServer/Operational):
Package(s) with the following package full names were not registered due to sideloading policy restrictions:
    LenovoCorporation.LenovoSettings_1.1.0.11169_x86__4642shxvsv8s2
Image - Windows 8 Enterprise x64.And It's joined to the domain during OSD (Apply Network Settings step, before I've used DISM to add W8 app). All sideloading requirements are met.
I've tried to reapply AllowAllTrustedApps and AllowDeploymentInSpecialProfiles policies in Task sequence from using gpedit.msc, then I've tried to reapply Lenovo settings using dism - it says that import is successfull and application could be listed as
installed. But the same problem appears when I logon to the deployed PC.
So, my question is whether Microsoft supports Windows 8 metro-application sideloading during OS deployment. And if so, what would be the correct procedure to overcome described issue?
As for now, I've tested all cases that I can think of, so any suggestions are welcome.
    Thank you!

    i don't think it's supported, have a look at
slide 25 here and I quote
    Applications are installed per-user
”Installing” an application makes it available for a single user
”Provisioning” an application makes it install for each user on the computer.
"ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 only supports “installation” of applications,
not the “provisioning” of applications.  Installation is done per user, hence the user deployment above.  Provisioning is done per machine, as provisioned apps automatically install for each user the next time they log in.
If you look in the MDT 2012 Update 1 “ZTIApplications.wsf” script and you’ll see this:
    sCmd = "DISM.EXE /online /Add-ProvisionedAppxPackage
    /PackagePath:""" &
    oUtility.SelectSingleNodeString(oNode,"CommandLine")
    & """ /SkipLicense"

  • Windows 7 Desktop synchronisation - Windows cannot access \\server\users\name\desktop

    Hi there
My client has a laptop which won’t load the desktop when disconnected from the network. When you log on (while disconnected) you get the error
    “Windows cannot access \\server\users\name\desktop”
Works as expected while connected to the network.
The server is a Windows Small Business Server 2003 with active directory etc. and roaming profiles turned on. This issue does not occur on other workstations/laptops.
When I check the Users folder on the local system drive there is not a desktop folder. I assume this is the issue although I’m not sure how you would force windows to create one or why one hasn’t been created?
This is a brand new laptop so my initial reaction was to reset the laptop to factory state and then add the laptop back in to the domain. After this process the issue was still present!
I guess the only thing I should mention is that this was shipped as a Home Premium laptop and was then upgraded to Professional using an upgrade key.
I have checked Control Panel, System & Security, System, Advanced, User Profiles and the account shows as Local with Roaming Profiles greyed out.
    Any ideas?

  • How to install Windows 7 on my Hp a6302f Desktop?

Hello everyone. I'm glad that i found this forum. Here is my issue:
I want to make a clean Install of Windows 7 on my preloaded Vista desktop Hp a6302f. How can I install a new clean Windows 7? How should I format the computer? any new drivers or things I have to do before upgrading, or just insert the Windows 7 instalation disk and follow instructions on the screen? I want to use my own Windows 7 disc and not one ordered from HP.
    Any suggestions? Thanks a lot.
    John.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi, and welcome.
To make a clean install of Windows 7 what you do is simply back up your current files to a disc or flash drive or hard drive to make sure you save your documents, etc because all data will be erased and also create your original Recovery discs in case you need to go back to Vista in the future.
Then you simpl put in the disc, restart the pc hit ESC or just wait and make sure it boots from the cd/dvd drive and follow the steps and choose Custom install/clean install, format your disc to erase them or click delete on all drives and then format, then go next and let it do it's thing.
Keep in mind if you need some drivers for Windows 7 such as wireless devices or printer you may be able to use the drivers supplies for vista byhp at the link below for your pc and choose either 32bit or 64bit version depending which Windows 7 version you install and that should work.
Or simply plug in your pc physically to the modem/router because Windows 7 should install just about most ethernet drivers on install and you should be able to connect to the internet and do Windows Updates and go from there to get further drivers.
    Hope this helps.

  • Will the new time capsule back up Windows on an iMac running Parallels Desktop?

Will the new time capsule back up Windows on an iMac running Parallels Desktop?

Windows home version MSBackup, cannot backup to network drives.
That was a little bonus from Bill for those who didn't fork out for Pro or Ultimate.
Like people with home versions would never need to backup to network drives.. oh no.. never!!
You need to mount the hard disk in windows for it to work.
It will help a lot if you load the airport utility for windows into your windows OS.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1547
Open windows explorer and type the network address of the TC.
\\TCname.local (where TCname is the correct network name of the TC).
The TC should have all names that are windows compatible.. ie
Fred Blog's Airport Time Capsule is just wrong. It is too long, it has spaces and it has apostrophe which is illegal.
A good name for the TC is TC
The default hard disk share name of data is fine. It should not be Time Capsule or anything again that is over long .. has spaces or is otherwise incompatible with windows.
A good name for the TC wifi is TCwifi
Then you can mount it \\TC
typing that directly into the address bar of windows explorer.
There are still issues with windows naturally and running in parallels I have no idea what other issues might come up.
Tell me if you have issues.. but you will need most likely to check the network.
Open a command window and ping the TC by name and by IP address. If IP address works just mount by IP.
\\10.0.1.1 for example .. and that is the default TC IP address when in router mode.
If you still cannot access the TC my recommendation is to use a USB drive and use that.. it is 10x easier and more reliable than mixing Mac and windows backups on the TC.

  • Windows 7, 64 Bit, Bluetooth Hotsync, Desktop 6.2.2 by Access

Windows 7, 64 Bit, Bluetooth Hotsync, Desktop 6.2.2 by Access
I have had problems of hotsyncing my Palm T3 to my windows 7, 64 bit, laptop ever since I bought the laptop.
I've read many posts and followed various instructions to no avail.
But, I've discovered a way that works every time.
As I stated above I have a Palm T3 with built in bluetooth. My laptop is an HP DV7, operating with Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit.
I am using Palm Desktop Version 6.2.2 by Access on my laptop, of which cannot be hotsynced using a USB connection.
I installed an I/O Gear, brandname, bluetooth adapter on my laptop, I bought from Walmart. A very nice micro size adapter.
I established a BT to Laptop PC connection on my T3, and use it instead of the standard Cradle/Cable connection option that was already established on the T3 from the factory.
Make sure your bluetooth is turned on, on both the computer and your Palm device.
Make sure both your computer and Palm device are discoverable and connectable.
Make sure the Hotsync icon is displayed in the taskbar at the lower right corner of your desktop on you computer.
Now you should be setup to sync both devices by bluetooth connection, right?   Wrong.
    Here's the trick!
Connect your Palm device with your computer using your Palm charging cable connected between your Palm device and into a USB port on your computer. This will pair your device with your computer and bluetooth hotsync will begin immediately after you tap on the hotsync button on your Palm device.
    It works for me.
    Hope it works for you.
    Best wishes

In PD 6.2.2 there is a PIM conduit switcher. Have you tried this?
Another option I can think to try is to export your data in a format compatible with Outlook, .csv or .tab and then import into Outlook.
Chapura makes a program called pocket copy. It is a one time transfer of your data from PD to Outlook.
They have a program called Pocket Mirror but is only compatible with 32 bit versions.
Here is a link to their site.

Is it possible to trade over or change the licence into iMac version for a small fee. If not , can I partition the hard drive of iMac and install windows and also photoshop elements? which is the best alternative ? why?

A Photoshop Elements license is good for both Mac and Windows so it should be just a matter of downloading the Mac version and using your current serial number to activate it.

  • Easy print not working on a 64 bit Windows 8.1 client with Remote Desktop connection version 8.1

Easy print is not working on a 64 bit Windows 8.1 client with Remote Desktop connection version 8.1 . Printers dont get redirected when you connect to the terminal server. The server we are connecting to has Windows 2008 server.  On 32 bit Windows
7 and windows XP clients Easy print is working fine and printers get redirected in terminal server.

I am having the exact same problem. Windows 7 works fine, but 8.1 will not redirect printers. Others said to check local policy terminal services settings and my setting are all set as they should.
I think Windows 8.1 is not telling the terminal server what printers it has.

update available window has parked itself on my desktop and won't close

    Here's my suggestion:
On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Cellular (where you would turn on cellular data if you could).
You can actually scroll that menu down a bit so the "Cellular Data" button is not necessarily in the far upper right corner of the screen.  Hopefully you can scroll it down far enough that you can successfully set it.

Ok thanks. Actually I figured it out. I was trying to remove the icons (windows) I had open when you use 4 fingers to see all the desktops and windows you have open. I just had to click on the window then press esc, then X and it deleted it. Thanks anyways
