NO SOUND IN WINDOWS, YES IN LINUX... HP620

Hello everyone.
I have problem with my sound/sound card.
My notebook is HP 620, product number WS730EA#BED, OS Windows 7 32bit.
Audio driver is IDT.
This notebook has HDMI outport and couple days ago I connected it with my Toshiba TV, which you can connect with HDMI cable.
So I connected notebook and TV and there was picture but not sound.
In sound options I made Digital Audio (HDMI) as a default device, so I can have sound on TV, and there wasn't any sound. I restarted my notebook and there was the same problem - there wasn't sound on TV again.
I disconnected notebook from TV. There wasn't sound on notebook either. As a matter of fact there is no sound to this day.
In IDT audio control panel everything is muted and it's impossible to unmute speakers or headphones.
Device Manager doesn't see problems with soundcard. It says that everything is OK.
On speaker icon is red x and says "no speakers or headphones are plugged in". When I troubleshoot it, it can't fix it and it says that it is disabled.
I tried with updating the drivers - doesn't help.
Uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling it - doesn't help.
In control panel -> sound says that HDMI is not connected (you can't disable it), speakers are default (but you can't configure it) and headphones are default (you can't configure them also). When I go to the recording devices the sound control panel just freezes....
So I thought that problem is with the sound card and I bought the external USB sound card. In BIOS I disabled the integrated sound card. So I installed  the external sound card. Everything installed like as it should be. The notebook recognizes the external sound card and says that everything is ok, but again I have red x on sound icon and again I have no sound via external sound card. I rebooted the notebook, same problem.
So integrated or external sound card - I have no sound. Nothing helps, I tried everything to repair it, but it doesn't help.
PLEASE HELP ME !
THESE ARE PROBLEMS IN WINDOWS, WHEN I AM IN LINUX UBUNTU I DO NOT HAVE THESE PROBLEMS ! PLEASE EXPLAIN

You can begin by checking for drivers for the chipset, and for listing your Mac in your profile and question, as it would vary - and you'd get a more direct answer.
If you have not yet run the Apple setup off OS X DVD (while in Windows) to get Boot Camp 3 installed, that of course would be first thing to do. Sometimes 3.1 doesn't help and can make matters worse.
Use Device Manager to update, rollback, uninstall drivers also, and to see what drivers you are using or need.
But knowing what Mac is first.

I bought my lovely brand new imac, done all the updates and all is good, I installed windows 7 on bootcamp but cannot not get any sound from the windows, yes I get sound while running the mac but when I boot to windows 7 i hear nothing.
Now the meters that should pop up and down do that so there is sound there I just cant hear it, I have gone without sound for 3 months now and its driving me mad.
I have been to various sites and downloaded high definition drivers etc but still no luck, any ideas?

You need to install your audio driver yourself, which would be RealTek.

  • Install PT8.53 with Linux Issue: Windows NetMgr and Linux NetMgr

    Folks,
Hello. I am installing PeopleTools 8.53 Internet Architecture. Database Server is Oracle Dabase 11gR1. OS is Oracle Linux 5. I have installed JDK7, WebLogic 10.3.6, Tuxedo 11gR1 and PeopleTools 8.53 successfully into Oracle Linux 5.
I have been setting up PeopleTools8.53 Database. Because the Install Wizard has problem, I set up PeopleTools 8.53 Database manually using Oracle starter database instance PT853. I have run the following scripts:
    1) utlspace.sql
    2) dbowner.sql
    3) ptddl.sql
    4) psadmin.sql
    5) psroles.sql
    6) connect.sql
Then, we need to run Data Mover script in a Windows Client machine to populate PeopleTools Database instance PT853 in Linux Sever machine. I have installed Oracle Database 11gR2 client for 32-bit Windows in my 64-bit Windows XP Virtual Machine. Now, I confront 2 VMs' connection issue as below:
In Linux Server Machine Net Manager:
    Service Name: PT853
    Connection Type: Database Default
    Protocol" TCP/IP
    Host Name: localhost.localdomain
    Port Name: 1521
    Listener: LISTENER
    Protocol: TCP/IP
    Host: localhost.localdomain
    Port: 1521
I test the Service PT853 using UserID "SYSADM" and Password "SYSADM". The connection is successful.
In Windows Client machine, the information in Net Manager is the same, but the connection is not successful. Its details are as below:
    Net Service Name: PT853
    Protocol: TCP/IP
Host name of Database Machine: localhost.localdomain
    Port Number: 1521
    Database Service Name: PT853
    Connection Type: Database Default
I test the Service using UserID "SYSADM" and Password "SYSADM" that are the same with Linux, but get this error: TNS: listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor.
    My questions are:
Do we need to do something to connect Windows XP with Linux at first ? If yes, How to do it ? If no, how to solve the above issue ?
    Thanks.

    Folks,
Hello. Thanks a lot for replying.
Regarding PeopleSoft networking, I have done Configuration Manager to enable Data Mover and Application Designer to login into Database Instance PT853.
Regarding 2 Virtual Machines (Windows XP and Oracle Linux 5) connects with each other, I have done the following:
First, I follow this tutorial http://www.vmware.com/support/ws5/doc/ws_devices_serial_2vms.html to configure 2 VMs for Windows 7 Host.
Second, in Windows XP Oracle Database Client Install Directory, the file "tnsnames.ora" has one entry that is the Service Name in Net Manager. In Linux Oracle Database Server install directory, the file "tnsnames.ora" has no entries because I installed Oracle Database Server with the starter Database instance PT853.
I have tried to test 2 VMs in the way as below:
    In Linux, [user@localhost ~]$ping WindowsHostName
    Its output: unknown host WindowsHostName
    In Windows XP Command Prompt:
    C:\ping localhost.localdomain
Its output: pinging localhost.localdomain 127.0.0.1 with 32 bytes of data...
    Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time=2ms, TTL=128
It replies a few times and then disconnected by itself. It seems that Windows XP is pinging itself and not Linux Server. The hostname of Linux Server is "localhost.localdomain" as well. It's a kind of confusing to me.
From the above infromation, we  can see 2 VMs cannot connect with each other. Net Manager in Windows XP Oracle Client cannot connect its Service PT853.
I don't understand how to connect Oracle Client in Windows with Oracle Database Server in Linux. Can any folk help to solve this issue ?
    Very grateful in advanced.

  • Start Navigation sound in Windows 7 64 bit dissappeared

? [size="">I have been scratching my head over this one.
[size="">After doing a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on a new build this week, and installing a new X-Fi PCIe Titanium Fatality Pro, I found the start navigation windows sound was no longer there - I am talking about the brief sound you hear, that sounds like a click, when you click a link, double click a folder to open , etc. I could find the sound in windows sounds, but when I pressed test I could not hear it.
    [size="">
[size="">After much trial and error, I discovered that I had to disable sound blaster enhancements, in the properties tab for speakers in the sound card settings. I now have that windows sound back.
[size="">When I enable sound blaster enhancements, it goes away, when I disable them, it is back to normal.
    [size="">
[size="">Is this normal or unique to me?

Wow, that fixed? my problem also by disabling soundblaster enhancements. How were you able to figure that one out? I was trying to figure it'sout also many months ago when I first got windows 7 beta and couldn't do it. Anyway,
Seems like most people don't like this start navigation sound, but I do.
I don't like the fact of having to disable soundblaster enhancements also.
Have you noticed that if you change the windows theme to something else it will actually work?

  • Dual boot with Windows 7 and LINUX - Tecra A11 (PTSE1A-00L005)

    Hi,
I bought a new Tecra A11 Laptop which runs WIN7 Pro. I want to install LINUX also. That means, I want to run my laptop in dual boot Win7 Pro/LINUX (any distributor). Please tell me how to do that.
There are 5 partitions on the HDD:
    1. Active, Recovery partiton 1.46 Gb (no drive letter)
    2. Active Primary C: Boot 145.04 Gb (NTFS)
    3. Active Logical E: 78.13 Gb (NTFS)
    4. Active Logical F: 64.25 Gb (NTFS)
    5. Primary Partition 9.2 Gb (no drive letter, application unknown)
Hey, I need it badly, because I have admitted to a course of RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer)
    Please help me

    Hi
I may not be able to give You a step-by-step explanation but most distros today offer a possibility to co-exist with Windows.
During the installation the unused free space will be taken by Linux (with the consent of the user of course!!)
What exact setup is needed by You is impossible for anyone else to say, but I would suggest to make the space occupied by the F drive available for Linux.
You seem to have space enough for Windows and the Linux OS does not need much.
Some thoughts concerning your partition setup:
I would NOT touch 1,2 and 5 no matter what. They are your system and some system internal partitions (recovery environment and data) and would not be fun to lose.
    1. Active, Recovery partiton 1.46 Gb (no drive letter)
    2. Active Primary C: Boot 145.04 Gb (NTFS)
    3. Active Logical E: 78.13 Gb (NTFS)
    4. Active Logical F: 64.25 Gb (NTFS)
    5. Primary Partition 9.2 Gb (no drive letter, application unknown)
So pick a Distro (my suggestion Ubuntu, Mint, Fedora, OpenSuse - Fedora will be the one closest related to RedHat) which will guide You through the steps to allocate space for Linux.
I would suggest however to remove the drive F in Windows so Linux does not start resizing all partitions.
I am sure that will work fine, but will just take time and the pretty unnecessary F drive will most surely be kept.
If You already have valuable data on your unit, make sure to back it up!! No software comes with warranties :)
Last but not least - make 100% sure to create a recovery set with the help of Toshiba Recovery media creator BEFORE you start installing Linux.
If something goes wrong You might want to have the possibility to put the unit back into factory state.
Good luck and keep asking if You need additional help!

    hi botards01,
If you're planning to use linux occasionally (Ubuntu for example) and you don't want to risk losing the One Key Recovery functionality, try to install Ubuntu via Wubi as this doesn't repartition your HDD but creates a virtual disk on your current OS.
Check it out - Install Ubuntu in Windows With Wubi

  • Dual booting pre-installed Windows 8 and Linux?

I just bought a G780 with Windows 8 pre-installed. Ideally, I would also like to install some flavor of Linux. I've been searching but not finding much info on how difficult or time-consuming this would be, or if there are any special considerations or anything. I've found some guides on dual-booting Windows 8 and Linux but they were all for installing Windows straight from a disk, not anything where it's already pre-installed, and some indicated they thought it might be problematic to use a pre-installed version of Windows. Anyway I was hoping that if anybody has done this on the G780 or even a similar laptop that you could share how it went and any difficulties you encountered. I'm open to using any Linux distro if it'll be easy to install. I would appreciate any info you could share. Thanks.

I had issues with Windows 8 as pre-installed on my G580, my employer at the time was using Windows 7 only and would not allow upgrades for security purposes.  I deleted the entire drive (including hidden) knowing at some point I would re-install Windows 8 or later from retail disk when needed.
Linux can resize partitions during the install process, but be careful not to disturb the hidden partition or the windows boot loader in the process.  Linux Mint is the best yet for this purpose, OpenSUSE and Fedora failed, CentOS failed and Ubuntu was not able to boot, but did not "hurt" the windows partitions.
    Good luck.

Problem solved.  You cannot turn on computer with the microphone or other audio cable plugged in.
Otherwise the computer does not respond to the inputs, you have to plug in the microphone or audio
cable after logging in and then a window will open that allows you to select the that input over the default.

  • On windows: ok. on linux: failed, why? JBO-30003 and JBO-26061

anyone know how to solve this?
i've checked out bc4j.xcfg to look for whether i have changed to the correct user name and password and it is all right.
It ran perfectly under windows 2000 and windows 98 and linux but ever since i have change the password, it only run on windows 2000 and windows98. Anyone have solution to that? Your help is very much appreciated. =)
