No Sound iPad Air 8.1

Hi,
suddenly, after upgrading to 8.0 I got sound issues on my iPad Air. No system sounds (Mail, typing, etc) and no game sounds. Youtube, Podcasts, Music, Videos sound is working correctly. No idea. 8.1 didn't help.
Regards
Götz

If you lost sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center if you are running iOS 7 or iOS 8. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • Why does the sound not work on my iPad air ?

The sound won't work on the iPad air I got 4 Xmas but I'm not sure if Apple will accept it back as I'm not sure when it was bought. The sound works on FaceTime and iMessage ring tones but not on apps/YouTube. It doesn't say head phones when I change the volume an I have shut the iPad down I've tuned the ringtone switch on and off , I've cleared all apps ,I've tried to look throughout settings but nothings working. Some times it works some times not .eg.as I left the house to pick my son up I was on an app and the sound was normal.it was normal when I looked on YouTube too when I came back but now. no sound only on iMessage and face time it did this the other day to and it hasn't been knocked .HELP ME!

    Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

  • HT4623 Since updating to ios 7.0.6 it has caused the sounds on my iPad Air to either be distorted, none at all in headphones or when locking it almost sounds like a whining drill.  What am I meant to do with that got it pretty soon after it was released

It is completley strange (did the update yesterday evening 5/3), I realise this is likely to be a bug, the iPad Air has no dirt in the headphone or speakers, have checked.  It sounds just like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnL1OjDQcLM
I don't know however if they experience the same with the headphones, I do find that if I fiddle with the mono settings and left and right balance I could get the headphones to work perfectly again, on off with the sleep button and home button seemed to clear the silly noise on the stereo speakers.  I dont really want to keep messing around with the settings to get it to work, I would assume that the update for the SSL bug fix is the problem as when I applied this update the issue started, I had made NO other changes or install of apps and had only used it for browsing e-mail and music.
This should not happen and would like to know what Apple intend on doing to resolve this and when??

Try using Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.

  • IPad Air - no ringer sounds after ios 8.3 update

since updating to ios 8.3, my iPad Air has no notification or ringer sounds on apps. eg I'm unable to use the Alarmed app as there's no sound. The volume works ok on music and movies.
For 2 days after the update, the home screen showed the Ringer icon flashing On and Off on the home screen when I woke the iPad up. (it's stopped this although the fault remains).
I have held the home and power button and rebooted, but this doesn't solve the issue.
    Any suggestions please?
I only updated from iOS 7 recently as was trying to avoid the dreaded update bugs....iOS 7 crashed. So does 8.3.

I'm not 100% sure that I know what you mean by "reset/restore."  If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • IPad Air to projector cord choice-sound airport Express?

Ok so I'm looking to use my ipad to play movies in the back yard for the kiddos.
The projector I am going to order has VGA and HDMI ports.
I am looking to project the movie to the screen/projector
through one of these ports and then stream the sound through my airport express which connects to the backyard speakers I have using airplay.
Does it matter which cord I use to connect to projector? I was wondering since hdmi has sound as well but I want to use the airport express for this.
Does anyone have advice on wether this is the best setup? I want to make sure it will all work before investing the money. THX

    duggifresh,
I am trying to use the same setup using the VGA connection from my iPad to the projector, but the image freezed when I engage the sound through my Airport Express.  Did you ever get this to work?  If so, how?  Thanks!!
    iPad Air, iOS 7.1.2

  • I stream Internet radio from my iPad air to Bluetooth speaker.  Can anyone suggest the best EQ app to use to enhance the sound.  Thanks

I stream Internet raidiot from iPad air to Bluetooth speakers.  Can anyone suggest the best EQ app to use to enhance the sound.
    THanks

Yeah, I know I can restore it, but I might as well go ahead and try. I just finished a backup for icloud and itunes to make sure, I'll go ahead and restore it and set it up as new and see how that works. Seems like I have no other options at this point, I'd still like to know what they did with the Download tab in itunes store, if they removed it or if I'm just overlooking it.

  • No sound in Keynote on iPad Air

    Hi all,
When trying to add sound (a track from my music in iTunes account) to a Keynote presentation on my iPad Air, it allows me to link a track, but then when the presentation is played, the track does not play. I have tried to play the soundtrack separately through iTunes then opened the Keynote and as soon as the presentation started, the music stops, as though it recognises that there is a track there and has stopped the other one to allow it to play. But no sound. Is there a hidden volume setting? I can't find anything and there are minimal options within Keynote to mess with.
Any ideas? I've searched the net and a few people have have the same issue.

  • Video inserted in Keynote has no sound on iPad Air, how can I resolve this?

I have saved a video from iMoves to my camera roll on my iPad Air. It plays fine in both programmes. Only when I insert it into a keynote presentation does it play with no sound. Can somebody help me resolve this please?

Try this. Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and cache (data in iOS 5) then restart the iPad. If that doesn't help, look here for more tips.

  • No sound at some apps Ipad Air

    Hello
My problem is that with headset all app work with sound. But the internat speaker works only with a few apps.
I try to reinstall from a backup but didn ' t work, no change.
    Harald

    1. If you have no sound at all, even in the Music App, try rebooting the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center if you are running iOS 7 ot iOS 8. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return. If you have an iPad Air 2, you control system sounds and the rotation lock in the control center, since the device has no side switch.
If you are running iOS 5 or iOS 6, the system sound control is in the task bar at the bottom. Double tap the home button and swipe all the way to the right in the task bar to get to the speaker icon on the left side. Tap on that and the sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.

    3. Try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. No data will be lost but you will have to enter all of the device settings again.
    4. If you still have no sound, try cleaning the dock connector opening of the iPad with a soft brush and just a little bit of rubbing alcohol.

  • Ipad air 16G impossible to change the sound of twitter

I have a new Ipad air and the soune on receiving mail on Gmail and receiving a twitt on twitter is the same on my iPad the sound Pépiement is on but i heard chord for both of them.
I tried to chance both but it's always the chord sound.
Please i need help on this.
    Thanks

Sorry i'am French ! And my sentance is wrong !
So my problem is that i can't control/change the level of sound of my computer. You know at the top at right on the keyboard there is the control volume, so when i push the button more nothing change, the same for the button less and again for the button mute. I can tell you there is a symbol under the graduation of intensity of volume. This symbol is a circle with a "/" inside this is te same symbol when you can put your car in front of a garage... I hope you understand ...

  • Does anyone find that the new iPad Air sounds sort of "hollow" when using the pad?

Maybe I don't know what I am talking about, but I feel like when using the iPad Air, it seems a bit hollow when using the screen pad or basically just using it in general. My last iPad (the latest one before the Air) seemed like it was more quality. Does that make sense?

Yes it does have a slightly hollow sound when you tap the screen. This is because the screen is made a bit differently than the older ones...there's a gap between the layers in the screen, which causes the sound you're hearing...it's completely normal on the Air. I took my Air back tho! It's awesome but just a bit big for my taste. I'm hoping the Mini comes soon!
And I don't know why Kappy is saying the speakers can't do the low frequency so well. The speakers on the Air produce a way better sound than earlier gens..including low frequencies.
    cheers

  • Random swoosh sound on iPad Air iOS 8

For the last 3 - 4 days my iPad Air iOS 8 and now 8.02 is sending a weird, annoying SWOOSH sound. I have done everything I could think of to get rid of the sound, like restart, reset All Settins, reset Network Setting, sounds off, background App Refresh off but nothing works. My iPad Mini ISO 8 and iPhone 5 iSO 8 are not effected. Does somebody knows hot to get rid of the spooky sound.

    Hello Lola75,
Check which action is set to make the Swoosh sound under Settings, Sounds and change it or set it to none.
iOS: Understanding sounds, ringtones, and alerts
My Swoosh sound is under the Classic category at the bottom.
    Best Regards,

Have turn click sound on and off.
    Any ideas?

    Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

  • Lack of game sounds on 2 ipad air 2 machines.

I bought 2 off "ipad air 2" several days apart.
They have the latest issues of software.
The only time they have been used on the Internet was to download Candy Crush, separately.
Today both units failed to produce sounds, whilst playing the game.
I know it sounds stupid but both sounds did disappear on the same day, but I tried mine after
I found out that the other sound had stopped.
They have not been linked together.
I have tried a reset under "general" "Reset" without any change.
    Volume not set at minimum!
Nothing else has been loaded on either machine.
Any suggestions help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Reset your device by holding the sleep/wake and home (shown above) buttons until the apple logo pops up, that should solve the problem. Don't worry it's completely harmless.
