No Sound - Need H

Okay, I have the SB Li've! Value sound card, but I have no sound. I think it's the drivers, but they seem up-to-date. I cant reinstall the sound card because I can't access the device manager, because Windows has been really screwy- (won't let Windows Update work, neither will some stuff like the Device Manager...). Microsoft is no help, since I can't even find out how to contact them, (closest I've ever gotten was when XP crashed and I took the survey...). Gateway's no help either, because I violated their warranty contract- (I installed Windows XP and added more RAM... sigh...), so they won't help me.
The only thing I can think of doing is manually taking out the sound card, then putting it back in and see if the computer tries to install it.

sounds like winxp is ready for a repave. It is so nice to have your computer run like new. Look on the bright side, you won't have anymore viruses or spyware! Reinstalling xp is pretty painless, just boot from the cd and it will ask if you want to reformat. before you do, just be sure to BACK UP!!! Don't worry about the activiation, when you activate a certain product key, it also send a machine serial number, and it will activate again.

MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI sound needs -5V; newest Antec 550W has no -5V rail

I came within a whisker of ordering a non-returnable 3700 Venice, MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI mobo and an upgraded Power Supply, Antec's newest 550W PS the TP2-550 EPS12V ($117). This has dual 2x24pin 12V 19A rails and is touted as the new V2.0 EPS12V/ATX12v compatible power supply for high performance SLI systems. By accident I came across a page at MSI for this mobo

• For this model, you must use a Power Supply which has a -5V pin supply. Also, the users manual which I downloaded on Pg 2-10 says the same thing
The above Antec PS specs do not show a -5V rail, nor does an Enermax 600W I looked at. The V2.0 specs for ATX12v which added 2x24pin 12V rails dropped -5V rail from the spec and it appears MSI is not conforming to the spec (See Antec response at end) None of the web sites selling these PS & mobos contain any warning. I vaguely recall from a forum a while back it may have something to do with the Soundblaster system in the mobo.

Isn't this a major showstopper which is going to cause a lot of grief for those of us upgrading to SLI systems using this mobo and upgrading our PS to the newest & best power design? We won't know the PS won't work until we build the system.

These are really high end, expensive and only 3-4 choices. Since I'm getting one 6800GT and eventually another & possibly eventually a 4800 X2, I was hoping the OCZ 520W would do it but computerpro3 says Powermaster 520 isn't good enough for SLI. I found that there is an OCZ 600W ATX12 dual rail which surprisingly has a -5V rail needed for K8N Neo4 SLI Soundblaster. Will this meet computerpro3's preference for a high end PS for SLI systems even though I'm losing the 1 rail advantage. Maybe the 600 Watts just overwhelms the 1 rail/2 rail question.

Wondering what you settled on. I got the Antec TP550 and it's flawless on the board. I even have the older 20pin model which works perfectly (including sound). If you really wanted what I would consider to be a top dog (pcpower and cooling), and find the -5v rail missing, all you have to do is place a phone order and request they add a -5v rail. It's a minimal cost and a total solution for having everything. Just my $0.02

Ipod Isn't Putting Out Sound- need reply FAST!!!

I have a fifth gen. white 30 gb ipod. i have tried many types of headphones and sound outputting devices and none work. no sound will come out of hte ipod with things liek like. i have tried updating it through my g4 tower mac and nothing. any ideas? i have also tried restarting it. i am leaving for a long trip in about one hour and need a reply fast! help!

External monitor - no sound needed, just picture

I am a composer. I want to take a quicktime file and send the output onto an external television monitor. I do not need sound, just picture. I'm running two monitors already for my desktop, a 23" and a 19". Is there any inexpensive method to get that done?

I'm assuming the outputs on you graphics card are used. If size doesn't matter, you can try a USB monitor. It is the cheapest way without adding another card.

When try to listen sounds, need to restart

when i try to listen any sound, no matters if it's on itunes or any other source, i will need to restart the mac in order to hear anything.
everytime the mac goes into standby, after i haev to restart because there will be no more sound.
anybody knows whats the matter?

in the same time as this problem begun, also the battery lifetime decrease massive. from full battery lifetime of 9 and even more hours when i bought the mac 3 months ago,now since a couple days (simultanely with the sound problem) the full lifetime is only 7 and less hours.
the battery check says "good" and 82 cycles.
but it won't load up to 5500 mah full capacity, instead it only loads up to 4400 mah and shows 100% loaded.
i don't know how the 2 problems are realtionated to each other, but there seems to be a connection...
i already did a calibration.
lost.
and guess after 3 month lifetime those things should work like new,,,,

Button down sound needs to finish - how?

I have a flash 8 menu bar that I created and need to have a 1
second sound on the down state of each button. But when the button
is clicked it is going to the new URL and cutting the sound short.
Is there a way to make the movie pause until the sound finishes
before going to the new URL?

Personally, I don't know why the built-in buttons' sound functionality works the way it does. Seems odd.
I am new to Actionscritp 3, but it seems I have to use it. This worked for me, in case any other Flash CS4 users have the same problem.
1.) import sound files to the stage (puts it in the library)
2.) right click and export to Actionscript to create classes of the sound files. (mine were named overSound and swooshSound)
3.) give your button an instance name (mine was btn)
3.) in actions panel frame 1 add:

Gymnasium sound needs work, Help please.

alright, my question is simple. For my School I need to do a senior project so that I can graduate. I didn't know what to do until I was warming up for basketball, and it hit me. The sound system was way to fuzzy and didn't sound the best. so I decided I was going to get the money for a new system.
Enough about me though, here's what I need help with. I can't decide what a good system would be, since I don't know mcuh(I mean I could hook them up and get them wroking.) other than that I don't know what brand makes the best kind of speakers. So can anyone help me by giving ideas. I preferably need ceiling speakers.

I would like to inform everyone that Best Buy® does sell professional audio equipment in our stores equipped with our Musical Instruments (MI) section. The number of stores to have Musical Instruments is growing rapidly. Currently at 84. Check with the local stores to see if they have MI or if they know the nearest location that does.
Depending on the size of the gym, the setup could vary. The problem with gyms is they are always an echo zone. Positioning is the most important aspect of a gym sound design. Keep in mind how many people could be in the gym at a time. Are there bleachers or roll out seating? If there is often many spectators (for games) then you have to take into account how many people that could be. The more bodies, the more power needed.
I would suggest involving a professional. See if you have a MI section at your local Best Buy® store and if not then try to find an audio/visual shop in your area. If you ask technicians that do any theatrical design they should be able to suggest a place to go. If your school has a theatre department then their techs will probably know of a local place that has audio/lighting supplies. Often times the same shops that sell pro audio and lighting also can install and build designs.

Shallow sound, need advice ple

Hello everybody. I'm noticing that my sound from my Xi-Fi Xtreme Music card is somewhat dull; the sound quality isn't really rich and deep. I'm not really sure how else to explain it, but is there a way I can enhance the sound coming out of my speakers using the console?

Hmm, strange, I updated my drivers to the latest versions and suddenly my sound is rich and vibrant again. Ah well! Make that a note to anyone else who's having issues.

No sound NEED HE

Ok I havent updated my computer in a long time with the windows updates and I was cleaning up space and after everything was cleaned up I decided to just update it. After I updated it and restarted it my sound didnt work and nothing loaded on my desktop. I had to do everything from the console, so then I went in add remove programs through the console and removed all the updates but the sound still didnt work. Now my computer works fine but the sound doesnt. I have soundblaster li've! 5.. I reinstalled the drivers 3 times now, my computer detects it, it shows up in device manager but still doesnt work. When i goto sounds and audio devices in control panel, for volume it comes up no audio device, and for audio it comes up no playback device. What do I do?

The problem I had was a little different from yours. My Audigy LS failed the Creative Diagnostics but I could get sound. But to fix it I had to uninstall everything Creative, remove the soundcard from my computer, reboot without it at least once, and then put the soundcard back in the computer and reinstall from the CD. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling without going through all this and I guess something was left that still caused the problem. Also if you uninstall the Creative stuff, after that you may want to delete the Creative directory. On my computer it is C:\Program Files\Creative Don't know if this will fix your problem but it worked for me.

It looks like your Creative software is not installed properly. From past experiences, it is likely due to registry settings that are messed up.
I suggest you re-install the software by the following, which has worked for many users:
. Delete the files and folders from "rogram Files>\Creative".
2. Delete the following registry node from the registry
(a) HKLM\Software\Creative Tech\Software Installed
(b) HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uni nstall\5CDDF96A-BC34-4D72-9ABA-EFFF0C39977
3. Re-install the software.

When import any sound needs render

when i put video clip or a audio file only the red bar appear in timeline and the audio needs render... why?? i work in another program ang i have in timeline 8 channels and no render needed... so now only with 2 chanels and needs render???

80gig ipod, no sound need to reset

i never had this problem with my 60gig ipod, but the new 80gig from time to time starts with no sound (video works fine but with no sound again), once I reset it starts working, Further more a lot of time when I turn it on : it start with reset apple logo. Is there something wrong? Should I be calling apple as it is still under warranty to request a replacement? Or it is expected behaviour? Thanks again.

Have you gotten this resolved? I see the exact same thing. I've been perusing the discussions and wonder if it's related to the files being played. I've been listening to audiobooks where the file is mono/32kbps. This appears to be a problem (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304490). I'm running the updated iPod software (1.2.1) and it's still occuring. These are protected AAC files so to convert them to stereo or less than 32kbps requires me to burn the entire book then import again (It's a Stephen King novel so about 16 CD's!).

K7T Turbo2 On Board Sound - Need MIDI drivers

While setting up my first MIDI keyboard accompanied with software I run into this error message:
No MIDI input devices. Instal MIDI input drivers.
I was told to instal them using the Drivers Applet in the Control Panel but I can not find such an Applet.

This is very confusing.
I don't understand how an Nvidia driver works with a Realtek chip but I will give it a try. Since we have same board and you are using the driver yourself I can't dispute that it should work. The only thing that leaves me suspicious is the fact that the sound drivers (4.42) that come with 5.10 drivers did not work at all. No sound period.
Also, I want to make sure I get rid of the Realtek drivers and software completely.
#1 I go to add/remove programs and select remove Realtek drivers
#2 I run Drivercleaner and select Realtek and hit start
After I do this though, I can go to Windows directory and there is still a ton of those Realtek "crab looking" files all over the place. I have looked in the start menu for a Realtek entry so I can see if they have included an uninstaller but no joy. I cna not find a directory entry for Realtek anywhere. It seems they just reside in the Windows folder all mixed in with the rest of the Windows files.
Am I being too anal..........?? Is removing through add/remove programs and the Drivercleaner good enough??
I am obsessive/compulsive enough to just wipe the HDD out with 1's & 0's and re-install Windows and then all the drivers again but I got my disk a couple years ago with the barebones I ordered from a re-seller and now Microsoft makes me call everytime to validate which is a huge pain in the ass. Cause I am a quick trigger on the reformat if I muck something up.

I rented planet of the apes and it keeps telling me to play it on quik time but when I do that I get no visual or sound need a suggestion

so basically this morning I rented planet of the apes the new one and have been having some sort of difficulty getting it to play it wont open in itunes suggests I use quik time which I downloaded and when I go to use that there is no visual or Audio play back what so ever it appears to read the chapters but nothing else I have been going through faqs for like 4 hours now with no luck can somebody throw some feedback my way let me know if there is something else I can do I am using windows xp downloaded a divx and my computor should be compatible but its not working out

Make sure you have cookies enabled and clear your cache. If it continues to fail try using a different browser.

hi there... have an oxygen 49... updated the drivers and all that stuff... most of the library will work... like pianos and mallets and all that junk... but when i go to the organ library nothing will load... not sure the problem...

The EVB3 only responds to midi channels 1-3. 1 for upper 2 for lower and 3 for bass pedals. Make sure the O49 is sending out one of those midi channels
