No sound on avi clips

I am new to CS5 premier pro. I have avi clips on time line ( vid and audio waves ) but no sound. Have gone into preferences to determine proper output but to no avail?  Mind you clips play properly on widows media player and on Adobe On Location, also in sound booth as well. There has to be something I am over looking.  I do believe the clips have been captured properly. Can anyone shed light to this situation? and yes the speakers are turned on! lol

  • Premiere CS5 import avi clips without sound. How can I import avi clips with sound without convert?

    Dear Adobe Forum,
I have the following problem, please help:
I would like to import avi clips in adobe premiere. All clips have the same avi codec. But unfortunately my adobe premiere does not import the sound of a few
avi clips. It is wired because about 10 out 70 avi clips which have all the same avi codec does not work with sound in premiere CS5. In the timline premiere import the video and audio line but there are no audio waves in the about 10 avi clips. additonally premiere plays the 10 avi clips in the source monitor without sound. Furthermore when I open the 10 avi files without adobe premiere they have sound, but with premiere there are no sound in the 10 avi clips.
What can I do, so that I can import all avi files with sound. I do not want to convert each of the avi files because then they have not a good quality and it is to complicated and it takes to much time to convert all files in this video project and in the other video project in my future.
Consequently How can I import all avi files so that they have immediately sound? Do I have to change some premiere settings?
    Thank you in advance
    Leonardo

  • AVI clip not playing in Quicktime 7.2 on intel based imac

I downloaded my digital pics and AVI clips from card reader into iphoto. The clips play white with only sound. When I first clicked on AVI clip I got message saying I needed to get a plug in and gave me link to Apple - quicktime components, then this message below.
"Note: If you are using a Macintosh with an Intel processor be sure to visit the component developer's web site to download a Universal Binary Component that is compatible with your Intel-based Macintosh. PowerPC-based components will not work in QuickTime on Macintosh with Intel processors." Then there was a bunch of links to various 3rd party plug ins.
I went to Intels page and searched "Universal Binary component", and it's all french to me. I'm sure there is an easier way to get my clips showing A and V. I also tried importing clips to imovie, but that didn't change anything. Thanks!

Well, I'm trying click the "Solved" button to let you know that the perian plugin worked (yay), but I'm getting an error message, so maybe on your end, you can say it is solved.
Thanks, I'm so grateful for you smart IT guys!

  • Moving sound from one clip to another?

Can I take the sound from one clip and move it so that it plays during another clip?
In other words, if I have some narration in one clip that would be better in another clip, can I pluck out that sound (narration) and re-locate it so that it plays at the same time another clip (video) is playing?
I know that FCP can do this..you just cut out the sound portion you want and cut/paste it into whereever you want, beneath the visual part of whatever clip you want it to play with.
    thanks!

Is it possible to take sound from one clip and put it in another clip?
    Yes

  • Encore: editing .avi clips results in large file

    Greetings!!!
So, I am using Encore CS5.1 in my attempt to edit some parts out of .avi clip.
The source clip is is around 500MB.
After I have set all the begin/end markers & got the desired output clip ready for rendering, I proceed with the
final rendition.  And then that is when things get funny.  The resulting clip (.avi) is over a gig! It should have been way less because I have actually cut stuff out.
And yes, I do retain the resolution of the source clip.
Why is this happening?  Please let me know if I am missing some settings.
    Thank you.

I can't discuss anything regarding copyright violation, not condoned. However, if you have a DVD that you made yourself, Premiere can edit that natively, no need to transcode. Open the DVD in your computer and go into the VIDEO_TS folder and there are .vob files inside. Copy the .vob files to your hard drive on the computer, then Import them into Premiere. There is no quality loss since you are not converting to another format (DVDs do not use .avi at all).
Do that, and do your cutting in Premiere and when done, go to File > Export > Media and in AME interface, choose "MPEG-2 DVD" as the format, and then an appropriate preset such as "NTSC Widescreen High Quality" or one that matches YOUR footage best. Under VIDEO tab, you'll want to adjust the data rate depending on program length. The formula 560/minutes=rate works well, though I like to round down a bit for safety and space that menus can consume.
So 560/120=4.66 and I would then encode at 4.5 and no worries (not to exceeed 8 on short movies). Import results to Encore to burn DVD. Another option from Premiere is to use Dynamic Link to go over to Encore, a more automated process. But no need to create an .avi intermediate, that just means time and quality lost, you want to export straight to MPEG-2 for DVD.

  • Best way to deal with AVI clips taken with stills cam?

we have a nikon S70 consumer camera which also takes video clips; these clips are .AVI format.
I thought it would be smart to convert them to QT format, but a 1.5GB clip became a 38-GB monster!
What would be the best way to get these .avi clips into my FC Studio workflow so that I can edit, color correct, etc., so that I can burn them to DVD?
this little cam offers several video formats, like HD (720) and a couple of formats it calls "TV" which appear to be 640x480...at least some of them are those dims.
    thanks!
    rc

Like the ubiquitous QuickTime .mov file type, AVI is just a wrapper or container; the video contained within could be made from any number of codecs.
Convert the AVI files to the codec that will match your FCP Sequence settings - prior to importing it into your FCP project.

  • N900 Ringtone sound. Distortion / Clipping error /...

I have the ringtone problem with the N900 when you select a mp3 out of your own albums in the profilemenu it sounds clear, but when you get a incoming call, it sounds strange, a clipping sound.and how higher the ringtonevolume in the profilemenu, the lower the clipping sound is, but is not completly gone.
Tis problem is also with the standard ringtones/alarmtones but you have to listen very carefully, the reason why you almost don't hear it with the standaard tones is because they lack of bass and beat.
But the problem is also with the standard tones.
Are there more people with this problem and somebody a solution for this problem?
and does this mean that the N900 can't even play a normal mp3 song as a ringtone without Clipping/distortion?

Message Edited by Celestial on 17-Dec-2009 09:39 AM

i haven't had this problem myself but usually the clicking sound on digitaly compressed media is a corrupt file or in the case of a scratched mp3 cd its miss read data, if you haven't used mp3 cd's they're very different to digital audio and rather than skipping they make strange noises and/or just jump to the next track
if this hppens with the songs when used as a ringtone its more than likely that its a ram issue (which it shouldn't be seen as they usually run at 128k). all i can suggest is using a lower bit rate (maybe 92k) for the songs you want as your ringtone or maybe just having less apps running

  • HT204382 I have no sound with avi

I have no sound with avi file

Evidently there is some codec missing that Quicktime needs to play avi files in Snow Leopard.  Anyone know what it is or how to get it?  VLC is fine, but I prefer the functionality of Quicktime Pro and would like to be able to view avi files there.  Thanks!

  • Vertical banding in Canon XL2 avi clips

I have recently installed premiere elements, and have a problem adding media to a new project.  Avi Clips imported from my Canon XL2 are perfect when viewed in windows media player, but show broad vertical lines when viewed within Adobe premiere.  What is the problem?

  • Incorporating external sound within a clip without re-encoding

I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable than me can save me a bit of time. If Premiere is not capable of doing certain things (see below) then I won't have to vainly search through the manual to find how to do them.
    1. Can Premiere automatically align a sound clip that was taken with an external recorder, to the sound already inside an AVCHD clip? A TV cameraman I was talking to recently said that FCP can do it. For a particular clip, he just highlights a series of sound files (if I understood him correctly) and FCP chooses the right one and aligns it to the existing sound.
    2. Can I import a clip in AVCHD format (taken on a GH2), remove the existing sound track and replace it with another (for example, as above), and save again as AVCHD, without the video part being re-encoded? What I want to do is store the externally recorded sound files within the clip instead of having them as separate files. Simplify my archives.
I don't need instructions how to do the above, I just want to know if it is possible, and what technical terms to look for in the manual.

Thanks for the responses, but I'm still not clear about what is and is not possible. I've got the full Adobe suite, so if any of the software included in the suite can automatically sync sound, please let me know.
    1. Jim Simon responded that it might be possible to sync sound if both clips have identical timecode. Well, my recorded sound does not have timecodes, so does that preclude Premiere from automatically syncing external sound to internal AVCHD sound?
    2. Dave Merchant suggests third-party software for (2), the demuxing/remuxing. That's sort of okay, but I'd rather stick with Premiere (if possible) or FCPX (if I have to). So, does Dave's answer mean that Premiere is not able to replace sound inside an AVCHD clip without re-encoding the video when saved?
    3. Jim Curtis suggested PluralEyes. Looks good for automatic syncing. But it means another piece of software, and for $100 extra I can buy FCPX. He also says that FCPX has this function built in (I assume he means auto sound syncing).
I'm left with this (correct me if I'm wrong):
A: FCPX and PluralEyes can automatically align sound files. Premiere cannot.
B: FCPX and Premiere cannot, without re-encoding when saved, align and replace the audio in an AVCHD clip. For that I need other software.

  • There is no sound on video clips downloaded from my camera phone

There is no sound on video clips downloaded from my cell phone camera. I have sound on all other applications. The clips have sound on my husband's computer which has windows vista.

  • Mulitple AVI clips to movie in QT.

From iPhoto I open mulitple AVI clips in QT pro. Then, I command A>copy>paste the contents of each separate clip into the first clip to make a movie, just using QT. I know, I could use MPEG streamclip, if I had all day. But I just want to use QT. Question, is there an apple script or other way to automate the process I describe above. My method works great, but it gives me carpel tunnel. Thankyou so much in advance.

For future reference, here are two ways to make this work. If you cannot find the _DVD player_, use Spotlight to locate it.
To view a disk image, first double-click on the icon for your project. Then open your DVD player by double-clicking on the icon in the applications folder. Another way to view the disc image is to open DVD Player in your Applications folder, then use its Open command to select your disc image.
I'm not sure why the text would look pooly in iDVD but good once burned to disk, but no harm no foul.
The previews in iDVD and iMovieHD6 are not considered to be very good predictors of the final product. That is why I suggested creating the disk image, which shows you what you will get when all is said and done.
I am glad things worked out for you.

  • Erratic sound playback using Clip (javax.sound.samled)

    Hi,
I have recently delved into writing an application with sound using Scala. Sound does play but seems rather unreliable across systems. For instance, only the long sounds are audible on my Ubuntu 9.04 system (OpenJDK 6b14-1.4.1-0ubuntu11). Interestingly on my windows PC running Vista Home with Sun JRE (build 6.1.0_15-b3) only the short sounds are audible and the longer sounds are cut off.
Before reporting bugs at OpenJDK and Sun respectively I would like to know if there is anything that I need to pay extra attention to. My programs "play" method is as follows:
    Tuple2 sound = audioResources(name)
    Clip clip = AudioSystem.getLine(sound.getInfo()).asInstanceOf[Clip]
    AudioInputStream stream = AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream(new ByteArrayInputStream(sound sound.getByteArray()))
    clip.open(stream)
clip.start()Have adapted my code from Scala to Java somewhat. I am assuming that clip.start() works asynchronously. Hope can give me some pointers on how to get this to work correctly.
    Best,
    Dirk Louwers

Well, that's kind of a weird way of doing that... I would have done...
    Clip c = AudioSystem.getClip();
    AudioInputStream stream = AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream(new ByteArrayInputStream(sound sound.getByteArray()));
    clip.open(stream);
clip.start();Anyway, clip.start() does work asyncronously, so you'll want to make sure your program isn't terminating before the clip has time to play.

  • Premiere elements 13 sound of import clip gone after importing?

The sound of the clips I load into premiere elements (13) is all of a sudden gone. For all the clips I uploaded earlier I had no problem. Is there maybe a setting I changed without knowing?

    Camilio
On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13 running on?
What are the properties of these clips that you are importing - what is the difference between the earlier imported clips and these latest one?
Same camera, same settings, same everything?
Do you have the problem if you start a new project?
Let us start here. More questions later depending on your reply.
    Thank you.
