No sound on DC5700 microtower on Windows 7

I recently changed from Xp to Windows 7 and now my sound does not work at all.
I get a message in the sound icon that: No audio output devise is installed.
In my device manager no sund is either installed so I cant update the driver for that sound, I have tried to install the realtek drivers both for windows vista and windoes 7 with no luck.
My question:
Is it possible to get the sound to work on dc5700 microtower with Windows 7 or shall i just leave this error and get a new computer?

My problem: No audio on my dc5700 sff after a CLEAN FRESH NEW install of Windows 7 64-bit over XP.
A streak of light, no audio throught the internal speaker ( and an X showed over the little speaker @ lower right hand) but Headsets worked though.
Solution:
1. checked in the BIOS that "internal audio" is enabled... f10, advance, device, internal audio = "enabled".

Windows 7 uses .wav (wave) files for the sound events. The default folder that Windows 7 uses to store the sound files in is located at C:\Windows\Media.
You cannot use a MP3 file but there are lots of (WAV to MP3 converters) available on internet which can help you to convert MP3 to wav serving your purpose of changing system sound.

Did you download and install the Windows Support software? First step in Bootcamp Assistant is to download the support software. Then did you install the support software from within Windows?

After you install Apple driver to enable the audio chip, YOU then need to manually download and install (Cirrus or Realtek audio depending on the Mac).

HELP....need a good sound card that works with Windows 7 64 bit

I've searched the internet and I'm seeing that folks are struggling with getting sound cards to work with Windows 7 (particularly the 64 bit systems). I know there are stability issues with the 64 bit system but I'm looking to install a decent sound card to improve stereo sound from my HP Pavilion (h8-1260t). The onboard sound is OK, but I'm looking for higher fidelity and the shortcomings of the stock sound chip is noticeable when played through my hi fi system. Don't really need 'surround sound' (I'm not a gamer) but I'm assuming any card that comes with this feature will also produce a quality stereo signal. I also like to archive music from steaming sources and have found a significant loss of sound quality once the track is saved. I'm assuming a good sound card will help with this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest finding a sound card that you like and contacting the manufacturer's Customer Service to assure its compatibility with Win7 64-bit. They are the experts on their products. While I am not a fan of dedicated sound cards because their drivers are conflict prone, I would buy a Creative Soundblaster. They have been proven over time.

No sound with Flashplayer 15 and Windows 8. I have followed the steps to enable the program and to disable Active X filtering and still no sound. Sound works on all other applications.
The Adobe website instructions refer to a way to troubleshoot sound that cannot be followed -- see the inserted text below -- it refers to an application below and there is no application shown on the page.
Can someone please help?

No Sound on Satellite U205 running Windows 7

I have tried re-installing the sound driver repeatedly. I tried installing the Windows XP driver, the Windows Vista driver, and the Windows 7 driver. None of them work. I own a Toshiba U205-S5022. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In Windows XP, open Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) and expand Sound, video and game controllers. Do you have the ADI audio device? If so, double-click it and tell us what Device status has.
Try both of these drivers.

The internal speakers work fine, but I want to use my surround sound and can't seem to get it to work. It doesn't even work with headphones. Is there an update I need to install or what?

Alll I can offer is what I bookmarked, that you can access, other threads, and of course Google and what others have found works.
A simple instruction manual I can't offer but a few words of wisdom, Apple provides driver to enable a chip or device but that is not the end, just the beginning.

Sound problem with java and windows (volume)

Just wondering if there is any way that java can manipulate the sound volume
in windows...I've searched through the forums here and ive noticed that this question has come up a number of times, but nothing definitive has really been posted.
My program is a 'server' side portion of a mobile phone app ive written, that im trying to use as a remote to turn up the volume, skip tracks, etc. on my pc via bluetooth. Basically what im doing is sending a string from the mobile phone app to the pc telling it to increment the volume/decrement the volume by a certain amount. Can java do this natively or am i going to need to use a C++ library through JNI (which i have never done before)

I've tried your suggestions and found that the first one only alters the volume of the midi file that is being played through java. I want to be able to alter the volume of the sound that I already have coming out of my speakers, through windows master volume control.
Your second suggestion I also tried but to no luck...i always get the following exception message:
"Failed trying to find LINE_IN VOLUME control: exception = java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Line unsupported: LINE_IN source port"This exception occurs no matter what I change LINE_IN to in this segment of code (I want to control sound output so i assume it should be either SPEAKER or LINE_OUT):

I noticed on the j2se sound guide site, they mention a way to get a list of supported mixers and/or lines, but im not exactly sure how to go about doing that (maybe it will be helpful?)

Sound Issues in Mac and Windows

I'm new to the forums so please don't flame me if there is a solution out there. I have a month old MacPro on 10.4.8. Over the past week my headset sound has been very spotty. Sometimes I can hear music with no vocals. My games play ambient sound but I can not hear characters talk. Videos on the web play with no sound.
If I fire up iTunes my songs play only instruments for left and right channel but there are no voices. I have the same problem with the rear output on the G5 now. Is this a hardware issue? In Windows using bootcamp I have the exact same problem... or sometimes no sound at all..
Any ideas?

Macs and PCs obviously render web pages differently. Unfortunately, many web designed optimize their code for IE, leaving many people with pages taht render slowly or not at all.
Some things I have discovered to speed up my Mac. Go into the network sys pref and make sure that the type of connection you are using - ethernet or Airport - is listed first. Go into the configuration and turn off IPv6 or if it is off, turn it on. IPv6 is new and not all ISPs support it. Having it in the "wrong" state can cause a problem.
Also, if there is anything in the DNS server box, write it down and then use "4.2.2.x" where "x" is 1-6. Some DNS servers are slow and using those values on my Mac and PC made a big difference to me.

Hello, I have an old Sound Blaster Li've Model CT4620 that I installed on my old PC (windows 95) and loved quite a while back, I have since upgraded my Pc to a newer model that has Windows XP Pro and was hoping to install my old much loved Sound Blaster Li've card but when I went to install the drivers from my origanal discs windows put up a warning that this version of driver was not compatable with my system. I have looked around the site and am lost. Is there any hope for me and my older Sound blaster li've card? Assuming you are running Lion or Mountain Lion, did you download the Windows Support software when you ran Bootcamp Assistant? Did you save the Windows Support software per the instructions you printed from within Bootcamp Assistant? Did you install the Windows Support Software from within Windows per the instructions in Bootcamp Assistant?
If you are running Snow Leopard the Windows Support Software is not downloaed it is on your Snow Leopard install disk.

Loss of sound to speakers/ headphones after Windows Pro 8 upgrade

I upgraded my laptop from XP media SP3 to Windows 8 Pro and chose the option of keeping only personal files. After the installation the laptop was running well and there didnt seem to be any problems so I deleted the old windows files. I did not however check the sound and on doing so later I discovered the issue and after reading the forum I seen the issue with the upgrade not loading the speakers driver. I have tried down loading the drivers but to no avail. I can hear the sound very faintly whilst wearing headphones but all the volume levels are on max! I have tried all the recommended fixs within the control panel etc. but still have no sound. I cannot take my laptop back to factory settings as my Toshiba load discs that I got when I purchased are not recognised. Please Help!!

Thanks for your helpful suggestion.
In fact I had already done that, I created an avi file (video+sound) and imported it into Encore.
It worked OK and I made the DVD.
However, the whole point of using Premiere and Encore together is that I should have been able to export/import the project without rendering or making an intermediate file, and this is not working, except for very short files.
I have raised a support case on this.
