No sound on Envy15T 3001 with windows 7. No update KB2962407 .

As of 2 days ago I suddenly have no sound on my Envy15T 3001.  I have Windows 7.  Was there an update like that described for Windows 8 that might have cancelled my sound?  What to do to get my sound back?

  • HELP....need a good sound card that works with Windows 7 64 bit

I've searched the internet and I'm seeing that folks are struggling with getting sound cards to work with Windows 7 (particularly the 64 bit systems). I know there are stability issues with the 64 bit system but I'm looking to install a decent sound card to improve stereo sound from my HP Pavilion (h8-1260t). The onboard sound is OK, but I'm looking for higher fidelity and the shortcomings of the stock sound chip is noticeable when played through my hi fi system.  Don't really need 'surround sound' (I'm not a gamer) but I'm assuming any card that comes with this feature will also produce a quality stereo signal.  I also like to archive music from steaming sources and have found a significant loss of sound quality once the track is saved.  I'm assuming a good sound card will help with this.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Spauld, welcome to the forum.
I suggest finding a sound card that you like and contacting the manufacturer's Customer Service to assure its compatibility with Win7 64-bit.  They are the experts on their products.  While I am not a fan of dedicated sound cards because their drivers are conflict prone, I would buy a Creative Soundblaster.  They have been proven over time.

  • Looking for a site that shows problems with windows patches or updates.

Looking for a site that shows problems with windows patches or updates...so I know what not to install.
Plenty of sites list and summarize individual patches, I want one that consolidates problems and complaints so I can better assess the risk. Currently I'm waiting to install patches several days and doing google searches. That works, but I'd rather find a place
    that does it with expertise.
Which forums would be best to look for such problems.
Thanks in and advance for suggestions

    Hi,
I agreed with Cyber and Rick.
Windows update helps to keep your PC safer—and your software current—by fetching the latest security and feature updates from Microsoft via the Internet.
Although there might be some problems when installing it, Windows update is not the one to blame.

  • Problem vith T61 sound card not regocnized with Windows 7 ultimate

When I try to Install SoundMax, I get the dreaded "The audio driver files do not support your computer hardware" error
I have found other threads with Windows XP but haven't found any with Windows 7
Is there a way to force to install these drivers? or can it be accounted as hardware error?
Windows itself also does not recognize the sound card in any way.
All the updates have been performed and absolutely no hint of available sound card. (Except fot the bluetooth external audio controller)

is this the driver that you're trying to install?  does your sound device show up in device manager?  is there a yellow tag on it? if this is the one you're trying to install and it won't did you try to manually update the driver from device manager.  don't let windows find the driver. point the update to the folder where the driver is.

  • No sound from headphone jack with Windows 8.1 (Hp Envy 15)

Hello all, I have an Envy 15 3040nr and I did a clean install of microsoft latest Windows 8.1 version plus all drivers. Everythink works BUT the headphone jacks. I had windows 8 before and everything worked.
Once I plug a headphone in either jack (envy 15 has 2) the speakers stop as expected but I get no sound in the headphone. I tested two headphones that work just fine on my phone and other computer.
I also checked if it was a hardware problem but it isn't. I boot with Ubuntu and both headphone jacks works perfectly.
I installed several (at least 6) driver versions searching the forum but even when I get the speakers working the headphone jacks never works.
    Please help!

You stated that you are able to get the speakers working, but you have been unable to get the headphones to work. I would like you to get your speakers so they are working and then try the steps I have outlined below to get the headphones working afterwards:
Step 1. Go to the Tiles menu and type "Troubleshooting"
    Step 2. Click on Troubleshooting
Step 3. Click on Troubleshoot audio playback in Hardware and Sound option
    Step 4. Click Next
Step 5. Choose Headphones and Windows will automatically detect the problem
Step 6. Click on "Apply, fix" button
This should resolve your headphones issue with Windows 8.1. If it does not please re-post for further steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • System sound delay RDP session with Windows server 2012 R2 standard

I have the following problem during a RDP session with a Microsoft Terminal Server 2012 R2 standard:
when i produce a system sound, the delay could be up to 15 seconds before I hear the cound on the client side.
making immediately a second system sound, the delay is minimal,
When i wait about 10 minutes, the delay could be again 5-15 seconds.
This problem occurs both with Windows 7 and Motorola Scanners
I also noticed that after making a sound on the first device, there is also no delay when making immediately a sound on a second RPD session.
I tried different settings for audioqualitymode or audiocapturemode, no luck

    Hi Henk,
As the way I see it, it’s a poor performance behavior of RDP.
You may try to update sound driver and fully patch systems to see whether performance can be improved.
“RDP was originally designed to flush the video frame buffer to the client about once every 100 milliseconds.  While this is fine for most Windows GDI applications, graphic intensive applications, 3D applications and applications requiring audio
/ video synchronization don’t fare so well.  With respect to streaming media in particular, RDP is only meant to cache the bitmap files (compressed) not the audio which is uncompressed over the wire”, quoted from the article below:

  • Keeping up with windows 7 64bit updates

I am deploying the windows 7 security updates through patch management. However, I am using a computer that is configured for automatic updates as a baseline and zcm is not covering all security updates. I have created bundles to deploy the missing updates. Is there an official list of all security and recommended updates that need to be deployed for all computers?

  • Sound Blaster Not Compatible With Windows 7

I recently installed w7 over my xp system. All was fine except it didn'y support my sb li've 5.1 digital card. Any ideas apart from trying updates (i have the lates already), what product my work with an older system

Which Dell cables? To the speakers? If so, time to change the speakers then.
Also try online such as eBay. Google for "Dell 38FRH". Ignore the Windows 7 drivers links. First few I found were fakes/scams. Scroll down. On the first page there were a couple of sites that carried it.
I would rather change the sound card [get something "modern"] and speakers than continue to use proprietary stuff.
Using Win 7 on an 8 year old system? Yeeesh.

  • Sound distorsion on DV6870ee with windows 7 professional

Hello fellow HP owners and staff,
I have had an HP dv6870ee laptop for a year now, and I've been very pleased with it. I'm a member of the IEEE community and in consequence, we get free software from Microsoft. So I installed Windows 7 professional RTM version on the lappy.
The original OS was windows vista with all the hp goodies that come installed (as a side note I gotta say: HP, YOU DO A TERRIBLE JOB WITH VISTA'S STARTUP PROGRAMS considering the extremely loooong startup time) and everything was really fine. Sound was very clear and hardly distorted. The speakers are Altec Lansing made.
Now when I installed windows 7 the sound from the speakers became very distorted even with audio tracks that didn't distort before. Please note that I'm using 320 kbps tracks ripped straight from original albums. I'm extremely sure that the Realtek Audio manager's settings are exactly the same ones in vista (I don't play with sound enhancements I leave them all off, because those speakers sounded wonderful on vista and didn't need any enhancement).
Has somebody experienced such a problem? And do you know what might be the solution for it?
    Thanks in advance !
    Ciao

  • T420 --no sound when video chat with windows live messenger or skype?

there is no sound when i tried to video chat  using msn or skype.
I dont know what to do with it .really frustrated
who could help me ?thank you very much

This issue is resolved by installing the latest drivers.  Lenovo has the driver and this is in another discussion:
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T420-sound-card-problem-causing-Skype-crash...
However, the Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox thinks everything is current.

  • Sound won't start with Windows 8.0, but will after hibernate (It toggles)

    TWIST U230 running Windows 8.0
Recently I had a crash that required Windows 8.0 to "fix some things", which I assume it did.  However, one of the side effects is that the sound drivers are no longer enabled, or working at least, after a reboot.  If i hibernate, then I have sound.  But, when I hibernate again, it also turns off my sound.  I also just updated the sound drivers.
    SUSPECTED
Something is toggling the drivers to wok or not work after being enabled from reboot or hibernate.
    WORKAROUND REQUESTED
I'd like to at least craft a script to reenable the drivers without resorting to Windows loading them at start.  Of couse, if I figured that out, I could also fix the root cause.

    Try resetting the SMC
    Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
    Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • All in One printer issue with Windows 8.1 update

    Hi all,
Hoping someone out there may be able to help with the following.
I have a Canon MG8250 all in one printer/scanner. All was fine on Windows 8, but then upgraded to 8.1 a couple of weeks ago. Just got round to using the printer and scanner and the printer wouldn't work (scanner was fine). Uninstalled MP drivers and reinstalled from Canon site and all seemed fine with the printing. Alas the scanner now would not work. Did the same, uninstalled MP Navigator Ex and reinstalled from Canon site, but no fix this time. PC says "Cannot start MP Navigator Ex" and printer says "Set PC to start scanning".
    Anybody know how to fix?
    Thanks,
    Peter

  • Help with Windows 8.1 Update 1 Offline Deployment using MDT 2013

    Hi guys,
Hoping that someone has encountered this problem and that there is a simple solution that I am overlooking. Essentially the problem we seem to be having is that after the OS is installed the process of updating the boot partition incorrectly updates
the boot partition on the offline media, rather than on the local disk. Because UEFI requires boot media to be formatted FAT32 and our deployment is a little on the heavy side (upwards of 40GB) we are generating multi-partition boot media and
this seems to be creating a problem, our previous Windows 7 offline media (single NTFS partition) worked perfectly.
By looking at the BDD.log I can see where it appears to examine the potential boot partitions, finds the local disk boot partition and the external usb hdd boot partition and chooses to write to the external. The task sequence restarts the machine shortly
thereafter at which point the device cannot boot with an error "No operating system found."
Thank you in advance for any assistance.

    Hello Erik,
it seems to be a bug in MDT.
The routine in ZTIDiskUtility.vbs is looking for the last available boot device:
For each oWMIDiskPart in AllDiskPartEx ( " WHERE Bootable = TRUE or BootPartition = TRUE " )
      oLogging.CreateEntry "Found bootable drive: " & oWMIDiskPart.Path_ , logTypeVerbose
      set oDiskPart = new ZTIDiskPartition
      set oDiskPart.DiskPart = oWMIDiskPart
      set oDisk = oDiskPart.GetDiskObject
      If oDisk.isOSReady( sOSBuild ) then
       set oLogical = oDiskPart.oWMIDrive( bForced )
       If isValidObject(oLogical) then
        If not bBootFiles then
         oLogging.CreateEntry "Found bootable drive (No Boot File Test) [ " & oLogical.DeviceID & " ]: " & oLogical.Path_ , logTypeInfo
         set GetBootDriveEx = oDiskPart
         ' My change
         Exit For
        ElseIf oFSO.FileExists( oLogical.DeviceID & "\ntldr" ) or oFSO.FileExists( oLogical.DeviceID & "\bootmgr" ) or oFSO.FileExists( oLogical.DeviceID & "\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgr.efi" ) then
         oLogging.CreateEntry "Found bootable drive [ " & oLogical.DeviceID & " ]: " & oLogical.Path_ , logTypeInfo
         set GetBootDriveEx = oDiskPart
        Else
         oLogging.CreateEntry "No boot files found: " & oLogical.Path_ , logTypeInfo
        End if
       End if
      End if
     next
I implemented an "Exit For", so you will get the first possible boot drive.
