No sound on facetime

I have the Ipad 2.  The people I contact via facetime cannot hear me altough I can hear them.    I have already powered down - have tried to speak close to speaker without any luck.

On the upper right outside corner of the Pad ( with home button at bottom) there is a small round switch on the side. If you see a red dot, slide the switch up. This is the mute switch. Under Settings, General, you can config this switch to either mute or lock rotation of Pad.

same issue here... And a restore didn't do any good either.
Try backing up your information to iTunes, and Restore your devices as new with no content on it what-so-ever. If the issue persists after that, this may be a hardware issue. Check your Mic's for debris, and remove the case you have on the device as well to see if you have the same results. Then contact Apple Support if all else fails.

  • I hear no sound in FaceTime on iPhone while in conversation with macbook pro

i hear no sound in FaceTime on iPhone while in conversation with macbook pro

This sounds like something similar to https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3388112?start=105&tstart=0.
Looks like the problem was on the Macbook Pro. Try ask the person using Macbook Pro turning down the speak volume (System Preferences->Sound->Output->Output Volume)  or the microphone gain (System Preferences->Sound->Input->Input Volume).

  • TS3367 No sound on facetime

When using facetime on my ipad2 the people I am talking to cannot hear me, yet I can hear them. The sound is not on mute YET there is an x through the microphone. Is there any suggestions?

This sounds like something similar to https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3388112?start=105&tstart=0.
Try turning down the speak volume (System Preferences->Sound->Output->Output Volume)  or the microphone gain (System Preferences->Sound->Input->Input Volume). Do this on both sides of the call.

  • Loud Screeching sound while facetiming.

I am sure many get this problem and sometiems do not know why it is happening but i think i have found out why. While facetiming my girlfriend sometimes i get this loud screeching sound randomly and i did not know why. But now everytime i got a notification it made this loud screeching sound. WHY is this happening?

Sounds like you should contact Apple and get the drive replaced. In the mean time, backup DAILY!

  • No outbound sound in FaceTime

Last couple of FaceTime calls, I can hear the people I'm calling, but they can't hear me. My webcam is selected for sound output. I can't find any other applicable settings. Suggestions most appreciated!

    More information:
Webcam is Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac, purchased in 2010. It requires no added software or drivers. Uses OS X's built in drivers. It has worked perfectly for years. Troubles developed sometime after Yosemite 10.10.1 update. I will boot into a clone of my old Mavericks system & see if the problem persists.

  • Problems with sound on facetime

Problem occurs while using FaceTime when sound suddenly goes from normal to no sound at all.  To get back sound you must increase volume using external volume control.  Any advice on how to fix this problem?

I FOUND THIS ON ANOTHER FORUM,TURNS OUT IT FIXED MY ISSUE!!!
{I also had this problem a couple of weeks ago.  I recorded video on my iphone 4s and there was no sound on playback, but when I synced the video to my MBP, the audio was there.  I was surprised I couldn't find the answer on the internet.  I found some postings where people said to stick a pin in the hole next to the microphone, and they swore that worked.  But, that sounded a little dangerous to try on my new iphone4s.
So I finally went to the genius bar and asked them.  It turned out that the volume buttons on the side of the iphone are set differently for each of the built-in apps that use it.  So while I had the volume set comfortably for cell phone use, it turned out that it was set to zero for video playback within the Camera app.
    As a former user interface designer, it's perplexing to me that the volume buttons DO NOT universally apply to all the apps on the iPhone.  You'd think the Apple manuals or website would tell users, but I couldn't find this in any of their documentation online.}

    Hello sandraeliz,
Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities. You can use the following article to troubleshoot your microphone issues. It says it is for an iPhone, but it is applicable for the iPad also.

Since updating to os7 the sound on FaceTime calls is cutting in and out.  I'm on iPhone 5 and the other person is on iPhone 4 , the other persons sound is fine.  This only began when I updated to the new operating system.

    reset all settings
    settings-general-reset-reset all settings
    now reconnect to wifi
settings- wifi- click network name- enter password - join
if issue persists back up and restore as new via iTunes
