No sound on hand set ear piece

I have an iphone 4 with the ios5 update, and I can only talk on the phone using the speaker phone. If I try to talk on the handset using the earpiece I can't hear anything the other person says, but they can hear me. I've tried restoring my phone to factory settings etc. but nothing has fixed it. It has done this once before for a couple of days, but it fixed itself; however, it has not been working for about 3 weeks now and it's driving me crazy!

my iphone5 has the same issue! How did u do after that?

  • HT204368 Have tried all of the above regarding connecting a jabra easygo hands free ear piece and still unable to pair.

Hi all, cant get jabra easygo to pair with ipone 4s, it pairs with ipad, ipod touch, blackberry etc etc any suggestions would be appreciated.

PS - have found other posts indicating that clips smaller than 2s or sometimes 5s, or "short files" can cause this. Modern style editing often uses short takes ! Good grief I cannot believe Apple. Well I deleted a half a dozen short sections and can export, but now of course the video is a ruined piiece of junk and I need to re-do the whole thing, the sound etc. which is basically taking as much time as the original. And each time I re-do it I risk again this lovely error -50 and again trying to figure out what thing bugs it via trial and error instead of a REASONABLE ERROR MESSAGE POINTING TO THE CLIP IT CAN'T PROCESS. What a mess. I HATE this iMovie application - full of BUGS BUGS BUGS which Apple will not fix obviously, since I had this product for a few years and see just hundreds of hits on Google about this error with disappointed users. Such junk I cannot believe I paid money for it and Apple does not support it with fixes !!!
If anyone knows of a GOOD reasonably priced video editing program NOT from APPLE I am still looking for suggestions. I want to do more video in future, but obviously NOT with iMovie !!!

  • Need recommendations for bluetooth headset/ear piece

What bluetooth head set/ear piece is best and compatible with iPhone?
    Thanks

I've used several, and landed on the Plantronics 655. I think a newer version is out now (the 665, I think). The headset is small and sounds great, it comes with several different earpieces to suit the size of your ear canal, the recharging options are good, and it has a good battery life.
I just started using a Aliph Jawbone, and so far it's very very good, too. I've heard very good reviews for it from others.
P.S. I've used both with the iPhone, no problems.

    Hi folks,
i have an apple IPhone4. I am experiencing certain problem with my iphone4. The problems are as follows a. my ear piece and proximity sensor is not working while making a call. 2. It cannot reproduce sound without earphone but rings normally if gets any call.
Can any one help me in this regard??

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches after installing new software or apps.

  • Sound is coming from the ear-piece and its really really low

    Title pretty much says it.
My iPhone is acting really weird ever since this morning, sound isnt coming from the bottom speakers anymore but instead from the ear-piece and its really low.
I tried resetting the phone with holding down the home and sleep button at the same time but its still the same.
    Anyone else having this problem?

Connect the headset to a computer or stereo or anything else with 3,5mm minijcack to see if the headset is ok of they work there then your headset is defect if not your phone is the problem

  • Cannot adjust ear piece sound volume while Incoming call

Receiving an imcoming call with ear-piece plugged, the sound volume becomes maximum and cannot be adjusted from both ear-piece and iPhone side button.
Playing music, the sound volume is normal and ear-piece and side button are adjustable.
Thank you and look forward solutions.

From the iPhone user manual, Restarting or resetting iPhone
If something isn’t working right, try restarting iPhone, force quitting an app, or resetting iPhone.
Restart iPhone: Press and hold the On/Off button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
If you can’t turn off iPhone or if the problem continues, you may need to reset iPhone. A reset should be done only if turning iPhone off and on doesn’t resolve the problem.
Reset iPhone: Press and hold both the On/Off button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • 1020 ear piece 'Lisp' - audio settings update 2.1....

I have had several 1020's, 10 in fact that all suffered with the same issue.  When talking to someone, it sounded like they had a lisp.  this was only previlant when listening through the normal ear piece speaker.  It only did it when connected, ringing tone was fine.
Thought it must be the phone so sent it back, then again and again...
Tried hard re-set, soft re-set nokia recovery software, the lot.  All phones did it.  they were all yellow, sim free.  Now, I am currently on a Vodafone 4G contract.  Each phone has been sim free. Sim card has been changed more times than I have had hot dinners.
Strangely enough, I updated the audio settings to version 2.1.4.1 and it has got massively worse!!! so much so that it's almost un-useable.  And, users at the other end can also hear the lisp and it's terrible.  So much so that I am going to hard reset the phone again and not carry out the audio update.
I also noticed that although I had not changed my volume settings, the phone was definately quieter.  Shame, this is one update that's a complete screw up.  However, it would lead me to think the lisp issue is sofware related and not hardware.... perhaps....

Wow, I guess no-one else has had this issue.

  • Does your ear piece on the phone rattle?

my volume is set to about mid level on the ear piece built into the phone itself. when i first listen to the ATT voice setup automated voice, I noticed it was rattling the the phone speaker.
Then someone called me, and sure enough, it sounds like a crackle, or rattle in the ear piece. Turn it down where I can barely hear it, and it stops the rattle.
    F

no problem here (or hear) - or with anyone I have talked too that has one. Mine sounds fine.
Here's how you fix it. Drive to your local Apple store and ask them to replace the phone with a non-rattle version. Maybe that one was designed for young children or snake wranglers in west texas.

  • Need Recommendation for Ear Piece that Won't Fall Out When Running

I've got a nano with the Nike sensor and jog nearly every day. It drives me crazy that the ear pieces that came with the nano fall out several times during my run. Can someone recommend a good set that will not fall out and sounds good? Not to sound like an a@@, but price is no object. In other words, what are the best possible ear phones that I can buy to jog with?

Well, if you can find a pair of in the ear canal earphones that fit you well (I had to try a couple of different brands), they might work for you. I like etymotic research er-6is. I find that when I take the trouble to seat them properly, they stay in no matter what. The only irritating thing about them is I can hear the cord moving.
I've also used a cheap pair of Koss earphones that have a plastic piece on each one that goes around the ear. The sound was adequate. However, when I'm running on the street, I don't mind the less than stellar quality and I can hear what's around me. I think Sony makes a well regarded set of earphones that with similar over the ear pieces. I don't remember the model number.

  • Ear piece issues - ongoing

I've been searching this discussion group for over a year now on this issue (which I continue to experience on and off with a iPhone 4), and I've read the loss of sound from the ear piece is either : (a) iOS related (b) hardware related OR (c) an incompatibilty issue between hardware and software.  There have been convincing arguments from "experts" on each cause.  I'm certainly no expert, but if there's someone out there who could learn from my experience today, I'll share this with you:
My phone was working fine for a couple of months, and then I went for a jog.  When I finished, the ear piece wouldn't work.  And it's been out of service for about a week. I tried squeezing the ear piece, re-sync, etc. - nothing worked.  But knowing it comes and goes, I was going to be patient and just wait for it to return.  I was testing it about every 20 min with a dummy call to my home, but no luck.  I called a friend today and it worked!  Then before he even answered, there were obvious electrical "clicks" with static, and then the sound was gone again.  I discovered that I could engage the ear piece on and off by pushing on the back of the phone in mid call.
So don't waste your time syncing, restoring, etc..It's a hardware contact problem.  And I think the only (and very undesirable) solution for all of us with this problem who are out of warranty is to open up the phone, replace the speaker (most complicated, but has the most success) or add some pressure to the backplate by inserting a sheet of paper (least complicated). There are numerous Youtube videos out there on these options.  Good luck everyone.

It very well might be your earphone jack. Take another set of earphones and see. a common problem is that one side, usually the right will go out on the ipod video. It is is still under warranty you should go here: http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
or take it to an apple store.
If it is out of warranty you might want to fix it yourself or take it to a third party place to do that. If you need more help with the last two options write to this post and we can help you out further.

  • TS4449 I can no longer hear music on my iPhone unless I use an ear piece could you please help

For a couple of days now I can no longer hear music (or if I play a video with audio) unless I connect an ear piece. I can't find anything in setting that turns this feature on or off unless I have some hardware problem. Help?

Try your volume buttons, if the slider does not show, then there is a short in the iPhone charging port. Clean charging port with toothbrush and small amount of isopropyl alcohol. If still problem the replacement part is iPhone charging port with flex cable, lower mic, and home button flex connector, all a single less than $10 part. Apple handles this problem with Warranty or AppleCare with Replacement iPhone 4S, if no coverage it will cost $199 for replacement iPhone 4S.
