  • Sound Issues HP Pavilion dv6-6158nr Entertainment Notebook PC

    Hello,
I have HP Pavilion dv6-6158nr Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit OS. Recently I noticed issues with how my volume control works. I am not sure if it's an application issue (Firefox 9/10) or audio drivers. While watching playing an audio file or watching video my default playback device is set to speaker, but as soon as I plugin my headphones both headphones and speakers will go to mute. Some times disabling and re-enabling the device will solve this issue, and other than that I also have to restart Firefox to get the sound back.
Tried installing all the available updates form windows, also reinstalled/update the sound drivers as n admin with no possible fix. Also as shown in picture below, when I try to make a Google call using Firefox I use built-in mike an headphones. During that time headphones icon will be appeared in the window shown below listed as communication device and disable both audio in/out.
Let me know if any further information is required.
    Thanks.

    First uninstall the audio driver:
Click Start and type device in the search field, then select Device Manager. >> Audio, video and game controlar >> right click and uninstall all values under it >> restart >> download and install the following drivers:
    BIOS
    Audio

  • Loss of sound on HP Pavilion dV6000 - Vista

I've suddenly lost sound on my dV600 laptop.  Volume control shows 100% and small green bar moves when sound should be heard.  This is affecting all sound:  internet, cd's, stored music, etc.  Sound is fine when I plug in a headphone or external speaker.  Mixer shows "internal speaker/headphones" as the application - icon shows a headphone.  Other than a Window's update, I've changed nothing.   Can anyone help ?   Thanks.

You may have a driver issue, try uninstall the audio driver from add/remove programs in control panel.
Download and install vista audio driver from your support page.

  • Brightness & light colored font-bad sound on HP Pavilion All-in-One, 20-b013w

I help correct learners of English, and when I record the sound on playback is horrible.  I purchased a new mic, but the problem still exist.  Seems like a lot of noise in the background.  A big problem I have with the monitor is the brightness and light color of font.  It is so light that it is very hard to read.  For instance on this page, the blue lettering is hard to read with the screen being so white.  I have a HP Pavilion 20 All-in-One, 20-b013w, and have the Windows 8 on the computer.
How can I improve the sound when I record using a microphone, and is it possible to darken the font and maybe change the contrast?  I am not a computer expert by any means, so if someone can help me I would be very thankful.

Hello leatherneckco.  I understand you're having some trouble with your microphone and your screen's brightness.
What program are you using to record your audio?  Have you tried recording in another application?
A good first step is to uninstall and reinstall the drivers.  Try the following.
From either the Metro or Desktop view press the Windows+X key combination.  This opens the Context Menu.
    Select Device Manager.
Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section.
Right click on your sound card and select Uninstall.
After the uninstallation has completed you should reboot your notebook.
Once Windows loads it will reinstall the device.
Verify whether the issue persists and post the result.
You can adjust your brightness by following these directions or using the monitor's physical buttons.  This document can show you how to change the settings related to your computer's fonts.
I'll keep an eye out for your reply.  Have a good day.

  • Intermittant sound on HP Pavilion PC

    Can someone please help us?
We have a HP Pavilion PC running Vista, our problem is that when the sound is turned on there is intermittant sound coming from both channels, and you are unable to understand anything coming out of the speakers.  But if you put a headphone jack in, there is only sound coming from the right channel.
I have uninstalled the audio driver and reinstalled to hopefully correct the problem, but it continues to stay the same.  We have run out of ideas and hope someone can help.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59501-60000/sp59542.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • No Sound on HP Pavilion Slimline s7520n PC

I have no sound on my HP Pavilion Slimline s7520n PC.  It uses Realtek AC97 Audio. This sound card is on the Motherboard.
I did all the troubleshooting steps and it says everything is working properly.  Nothing is muted.
I have tried updating the driver but it says I am using the most updated driver already. So that did not fix the sound.
I tried plugging in headphones to see if there was sound that way and there is not.
I noticed the sound was not working after a Microsoft Update but can't say for sure that it caused the problem or if it just happened  about that same time.
I tried asking Microsoft Support  for help and they sent me a link to download a driver.  It did not fix the sound and they  suggested I re-install WinXP  I have not done that yet because I really did not want to loose all my data if I don't have to.  If it is the sound card gone bad I would be doing that for nothing. I am in the process of saving all my music and photos to CDs just in case I have to reinstall XP.
Someone suggested just installing a new sound card and assuming the Slimline has a open slot in it
I would need instructions on installing a new sound card.
Anyone else had this problem or have other suggestions on fixing the sound?   Thanks for any help.

Go to the Control Panel --> Sounds and then right mouse click on Playback and make sure you don't have a disabled device. Do the same for Recordings.  Do the speakers under the Playback tab have a green check mark?
The other thing to check is to go into Device Manager and make sure that there are not any yellow exclamation points for yellow question marks.  A red X on the Sound device is also not good. Click on the Sound device and then right mouse click (properties) on each sound device and see if all are working.
Lastly, since you have the Sound driver downloaded, you could try uninstalling the sound driver and then reinstalled it.

  • Malfunction of media smart and sound on HP Pavilion dv8t entertainment PC

I have an HP pavilion dv8t-1100 entertainment PC  with Windows 7 64 Bit operating system.
I have this peculiar problem which is affecting the efficiency of the PC.
The volume and bass and treble volumes just pops up once in a while intermittently even though no sound media is active. When it does that it turns off blue tooth and wireless automatically on and off.
It also temporarily takes control of the PC and interrupts other applications from running for brief periods .
At first it gave a message that 'internet radio is turned on but not discoverable'  I have owned the PC for about two years now. It is now getting worse.
    Any solutions?
    Thanks

  • Sound stopped on Pavilion E 400Y

On my HP Elite Pavilion 400Y, the audio quit working. This really looks like a hardware problem.  This is a multi-boot system.  I use the Win7 Pro installation daily, and that's where I noticed the problem.  If it was a software problem, sound should still work in the other installations.. Win7 Pro partition. Device Manager shows only a High Definition Audio Device with manufacturer Microsoft, Location 0, and that it is working properly.  Device Manager-Sound Video and Game Conrollers shows only a Digital Audio (HDMI) deivce not plugged in for playback and shows nothing for recording devices.   Device Manager-System devices-High Defintion Audio Device shows manufacturer Microsoft Location PCI bus 1, device 0 , function 1, and working properly. MSINFO 32 shows: Name        High Definition Audio DeviceManufacturer       MicrosoftStatus        OKPNP Device ID : HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_1002&DEV_AA01&SUBSYS_00AA0100&REV_1002\5&18D1BC4F&0&0001Driver        c:\windows\system32\drivers\hdaudio.sys (6.1.7601.17514, 342.00 KB (350,208 bytes), 1/2/2014 11:03 PM)In Control Panel, I have Realtek HD Audio Manager.  It does not load.  No error is given.  Win7 Home Premium PartitionI booted into the rarely used original partition of Win7 Home Premium.  By original I do not mean out-of-the-box.  It is the well used and fully updated Win7HP that came with the system.    Device Manager-Sound Video and Game Conrollers shows only an ATI high Definition Audio Device, Manufacturer ATI, Location O and that it is working properly. Device Manager-Sysem devices-High Defintion Audio Device shows manufacturer Microsoft, Location PCI bus 1, device 0 , function 1, and working properly. MSINFO32 shows:Name        ATI High Definition Audio DeviceManufacturer       ATI Technologies Inc.Status        OKPNP Device   ID HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_1002&DEV_AA01&SUBSYS_00AA0100&REV_1002\5&18D1BC4F&0&0001In Control Panel, I have Realtek HD Audio Manager.  It does not load.  No error is given.
The factory installed operating system shows software for ATI hardware, not Realtek. Are ATI drivers the same as Realtek drivers or are they generic enough to work?   I do not know if the ATI drivers are original or if they appeared during an update.  I do know that sound was working on this partition the last time I used it.  Now, however, sound does not work in Win7HP, either.   XP PartitionI booted into the even more rarely used XP partition.  Device Manager-Sound Video and Game Controllers show an AMD High Definition Audio Device and 5 other lines for Codecs, legacy drivers, etc.  Are AMD drivers the same as Realtek drivers or are they generic enough to work?  My memory is that my XP sound once worked, but maybe I'm wrong.  I haven't logged in here for abouat a year,.  Certainly I would not have loaded the AMD software unless it was found automatically during installation.  . Control Panel sounds and Audio Devices shows the AMD and the other devices.  All state they are working properly.  Sound does not work in XP, either. Steps TakenI downloaded the original driver from HP.   SP46470.exe loads Origianl Realtek software for ALC888S until it gives an error stating "Your system does not meet the minimum requirements for this update.  Update has been canceled (9996)."  One HP forum entry addressing this message stated it could be because some hardware was not original and specifically mentioned keyboard and mouse.  I am using the original keyboard and mouse.  It also mentioned outdated Windows Frameworks, and I have the latest on that. I checked the BIOS, and the audio function section was enabled. I checked Realtek's site, and found data sheets but not drivers for ALC888S (the model shown on HP's site for Pavilion E4000y.)  I downloaded Realtek software vrsn 2.79 from Major Geeks.  It installed OK, but did not solve the problem. In Control Panel, I have Realtek HD Audio Manager.  It does not load.  No error is given. Ultimate Question? Is my sound chip dead?  Should I just go buy a sound card and forget the motherboard sound system?  Or are there other steps I should take?

    Hi
You have a couple of options as I see it.
Please First check if the speaker icon on the unit is not muted.
Go to device manager and uninstall the driver and restart and unit will install the driver automatically.
Try doing System restore to the date when the unit was working fine.
Try to update the driver from hp.com website.
Last step is to run a recovery on the unit before this please back ups your data.
If still does not work speaker on the unit has gone bad needs to be replaced.
If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the speaker replaced.
Let us know how it goes!
