No sound on imported files premiere elements 12

I had an old version Windows Premiere Elements 2 and I imported the files to Premiere Elements 12....they have come across ok to the Mac, but without sound.  Can I get the sound back please? There is sound on the computer, just not when I playback the files through the organizer.
Thanks

.Even if we take the Windows versus Mac out of the matter which we really cannot....
You cannot import .prel files into another Premiere Elements project file (project.prel). "Most of the time", you can open a Windows Premiere Elements project file created in an earlier version in a later Windows Premiere Elements version. And, "most of the time", you can open a Mac Premiere Elements project file created in an earlier version in a later Mac Premiere Elements version..But, you cannot open a Windows Premiere Elements project file (project.prel) in a Mac Premiere Elements. And vice versa.
If you have a .mod standard file and are having problems with it in Mac or anywhere else, then try renaming just the file extension from .mod to mpg before importing it into the program. That often works in Windows. Not sure if you would need a special converter for .mod for Mac.
As for prv files...not sure what that is. In Timeline rendering, preview files are generated, but, for SD project, the preview files are DV AVI, and, for HD project, the preview file is MPEG2.mpeg with a companion xmp file. (at least in Windows). The counterpart of DV AVI may be DV.MOV for Mac?
If you have any more details on your situation, please let us know, and I will follow up on your information. What are the file formats/file extensions that seem to be making it into Elements Organizer 12 on Mac? I cannot see how a file with the file extension .prv or .prel could be importing into Elements Organizer 12.

On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13 running?
If your Photoshop CS6 comes with Bridge, I am wondering if there is a way to go from
CS6 Bridge to Elements Organizer 13. From Elements Organizer 13, you could import from there
into the Premiere Elements 13 Editor.
    Quick results...
Photoshop CS5.1 Extended, File Menu/Export/Render Video
    File Menu/Browse in Bridge
Right click .mp4 export in Bridge, select Open With, select Adobe Premiere Elements 13 which needs to be set as default.
Seems 13 is opening but without the .mp4.

  • Sony AVCHD conversion software for import to Premiere Elements

I am testing out a Sony HXR-NX3 camcorder.  Planning to use it for wedding videos so I'm looking at the color and low light capabilities.  When I copied the footage from the SD card to my PC then dragged the files into Adobe Premiere Elements v10 I noticed the sound did not come along.  After some research, I found an article that stated:  "In order to edit Sony HXR-NX3 60p MTS files smoothly, the easy workaround is to use 3rd-party to rewrap and convert 1080 60p footage a more "editable" format."
Here is the link to the article:  http://www.brorsoft.com/how-to/import-sony-hxr-nx3-footage-to-adobe-premiere.html
I filmed in 1080/30p (not 60) but apparently it has the same issue.  I also read that the Sony needs special software to combine files (>2g) that it split during recording and also if you are trying to combine files that crossed SD cards.
I found three possible pieces of software and wonder if anyone has a recommendation.
I am running W8.  Adobe Premiere Elements 10. Footage shot at 1080/30p 17mps.
Sony Content Management Utility (which requires the physical camcorder to activate).  I could only find v1 online.  (Camcorder is a rental.)

ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE12: Seamless File Merging Before Import
It uses Command Prompt to get the job done.
It may be on the primitive side when it comes to the converter mentioned, but it might just take care of the audio issues and the files merging if those are the target concerns?
Please let us know if you decide to try the approach on a mini test run basis.

  • No sound in my rendered Premiere elements 10 mpeg

I can hear the sound during playback in Premiere Elements 10 but not when exported as a rendered MPEG for playback on a PC or in other formats. I am just learning, and can't see anything obvious that I'm doing wrong, but this is probably something simple like a set up setting. Any help?

    Hi ATR,
Sorry for taking a while to get back to you. I was so excited when I had a fix to the problem that I wanted to finish my project and get it out to our staff. With that done, I can now reflect further on what went wrong.
It looks like this is not just an isolated evil sound file. I think that my work computer doesn't accept a lot of sound files. It makes me wonder if your suggest for "a. checking the audio card driver" might be in order. I'm not an expert at this, but I think I have a SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio (but I could be mixed-up and this could just be a driver).
The only two sound file sources that seem to work are from my video camera and from the .wav files created from Sonicfire Pro 5 SmartSound software that came bundled with PE10 (that's what I used to create the background music that worked). I tried to convert the .mp3 files into .wav files using PE10, but on my system it didn't work. I then used an online converter and things appeared to work well (it would play the audio on my computer using Windows Media player, and it would preview in PS10, but it would not render a finished file with the audio). So, a friend in the office came up with a workable solution. I played the .mp3 file on my speakers and filmed it with my camera. Crazy, but it worked. Fortunately, I'm not working on a Hollywood quality video. It was a 45-second teaser for employees that would be shared electronically with an e-mail directing people to the file on our intranet.
By the way, in answer to one of your other questions - I have tried other audio channels. In fact, I had originally tried the soundtrack file, but that didn't seem to be the problem.
You last point that you were curious why I didn't have the problem on both computers I think comes down to the possibility that my computer at work has an issue. Does the 32 bit vs. 64 bit mean anything? Would a sound card problem mean that files some sound files might not be rendered, even though I can hear them in the preview mode?
In the meantime, I'm just so happy that my video is finished. I have a clearer sense of what I can't do on this computer. I have a work-around that means I can have music in my productions (although the quality isn't fabulous). And I'm hopeful I might figure out a more long-term solution.

  • Converting 1080/50p video for import into Premiere Elements

    Hi there,
I'm currently looking into buying an HD camcorder, and editing software to go with it.  I'm considering getting a camcorder which can record in 1080/50p for future-proofing, however I see that Premiere Elements doesn't currently support 1080/50p editing.  I was wondering whether I could sensibly shoot video in 1080/50p for archiving, but convert it down to either 1080/50i or 720/50p prior to importing into Premiere?  Is there a suitable intermediate input format which Premiere supports and which wouldn't result in a significant loss of quality due to the extra transcoding step?
Also, what is the recommended system requirement for 1080/50i and 720/50p editing?  I have a 2007 Macbook (2.2 GHz Core2 Duo, 4GB RAM), would that be sufficient?
    Thank you.

Thanks a lot for the very quick response Steve.
I suspect shooting 1080/50i is likely to be the way to go, I'll obviously have a play once I get the camera.  I just wanted to check whether it's feasible to shoot in 1080/50p, but convert to 720/50p prior to importing into Premiere Elements.  That way I can keep a copy of the 1080/50p clip to use in a few years time when the consumer editing software has caught up.
If I were to do that, what's the recommended file format to convert to prior to import?  Is there something similar to AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec) which is fast to convert to and edit from - ideally I'd rather not convert to 720/50p H.264.  Is there a list of Premiere Elements' supproted input formats somewhere?

    Hi Steve,
After reading everybody’s responses I am feeling a little out of my depth.  Being new to this I am having difficulty in understanding a lot of the information given to me and also in the information you require from me.  It appears that one thing I should never do is mix film from two different cameras.  I would really like to fix this one particular clip though as it holds an interview that was taken when leaving Coober Pedy and something that I don’t want to lose.
I have today done some research on the camera that took the offending video clip.   It was a Samsung S85 and according to the Samsung website it uses MJPEG video format.
Here are the specifications as per the Samsung website.

I downloaded and installed Media Info and Morgan Multimedia MJPEG Codec V3.99.108 today.  Do I have to register it to get it to operate?  I read the documentation file that came with it hoping to find a clue as what I should do but I could not comprehend the information it contained.

  • I can't get sound on my old Premiere Elements Files

I had an old windows laptop....which I had Premiere elements 2 on.  I had some rendered files.... they have come over to Premiere Elements 12 and they are playing, but I have no sound.  The sound is on on the computer and but not when I playback.
I am using the trial version at the moment, but would like to purchase the real version, but want to make sure I can use all of the old files first.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
The sound will not work on the Photoshop elements organizer either.

Have you gone to settings > sound to make sure your built-in speakers are selected? That would be my first guess for troubleshooting.

  • Can a .prel file be imported to Premiere Elements 9

I have several movies that have been created with past versions of Elements. I do not have the DVDs. Is there a way I can import and edit these .prel files?

    Thank you for your response.
I guess I did not give a good description of my problem.
Yes I have three 1TB hard drives with most of my movies from the past few years. These drives contain the Adobe files along with the video and audio files that were edited to produce the Adobe projects and DVDs.
I must also say that I have registered versions of Adobe software going back to when.......the newest version of Premiere Elements, ver. 9, is installed on my computer at this time.
I had a request from a friend for a DVD of a basketball game from 2007. His grandson was one of the players in that game. Not having a copy of the DVD for that game I thought this is easy. I loaded the hard drive went the Adobe project file and tried to open it. This project was created with an older version of Adobe software. The reply was that code for that file was not available! Now I'm thinking Adobe would not do that to its customers. So I went online to look for an answer. I should have never done that. I get too frustrated because the answers now days is never to the question I asked. I understand the economics of this but I've been working with computers since DOS 1.1. Back in the days when Bill Gates answered the help line with "Hello this is Bill can I help you!" The key that is missing today is real customer service. Sorry I'm off the subject. I could not find any answer about the Premiere Elements being backward compatible. That is when I turned to the forum. Since I do have the video and audio files I can create a new project and create the DVD. I stand is that I should NOT have to re-do this project. I'm going to have to spend time redoing work done. The part that makes me mad is I have to do this because Adobe wants more money on its profit sheet at my expense. I know I don’t have to buy the product but I am a loyal customer or at least was a loyal customer. I've notice other software out there that does what I need. Sorry again I'm off subject!
I thank you for taking the time to reply and trying to help. If you know anything about an add-on or extra code I can use to save me time I would really appreciate it!
    Thanks

  • Files seems to skip frames when importing into Premiere Elements 10

I am importing .mts files from a sdhc card. When trying to import the .MTS Files into Adobe Premiere Elements 10 it skip frames at clip transitions. When i place the files onto the timeline it looks like a 'jump' between clips, as if frames were missing. The same happens when I import .vob files from a dvd. A long seqence gets interrupted by a quick drop in audo and a quick jumpcut. How do i fix this ?

As John says, matching your project settings to your video is vital to a successful editing experience. If you've got a match, you will NOT see red lines above your clips when you add them to your timeline. Is that the case in your project?
Also, AVCHD video often requires at least a quad core or i7 processor with a good load of RAM to edit. If you don't have a powerful, well-tuned system, it could well be that the skipping you're seeing is just your computer unable to process the video data fast enought.
How fast is your processor and how much RAM do you have? What OS are you running?

  • Can't import from Premiere Elements 4.0 into CS5.5

    Hey guys,
I am trying to open a project that I did a while ago in Premiere Elements 4.0 (Windows) in a new Premiere software (Mac). I tried both Premiere Elements 10 and Premiere CS5.5, and both of them denied my old project, saying it was incompatible. Importing didn't work out either.
    Any ideas?
...or is there a place where I can purchase Elements 4.0 for Mac?
    Thanks in advance!

You are most welcome, and hope that things work fine.
The porting of PrE and PrPro to Mac, has caused a few issues, as those mentioned above. For some "history," Premiere (precursor to PrPro, not PrElements) WAS X-platform, at least by about Premiere version 5.0 (my archives do not go back to before that version). With Premiere/Premiere Pro 7.0/PrPro 1.0 (really an odd version, with three possible names!!!!), there were ONLY PC versions, so that Premiere 6.5 was the last X-platform version, until PrPro CS 3, when Mac support was added back. This created a "hole" and that has bitten many Mac-users, hence that rec. to Open earlier Projects (the Project file extension also changed, as of PrPro 1.0) in a PC version of CS3 (that first PrPro to go X-platform). THEN, a Mac with PrPro, CS 3, or higher, should be able to handle things.
As PrE did not go to X-platform did not come about, until PrE 9, that leaves a big hole, just like with PrPro before CS 3.
I have also found that newer versions of PrE's Project files (PREL's), will not Open in older versions of PrPro, for example, my PrPro 2.0 (PC only) will not Open PrE 7, 8, 9 or 10 PREL's.
Hoever, my PrPro (PC only) will Open older Premiere Projects from the Mac days, with those same exceptions, listed above. I have worked with many Pr 6.5 Mac Projects in my PrPro 2.0 (PC only), and each worked almost perfectly, with those same exceptions, but even then, PrPro 2.0 is cool, and tells me which Transition, or Effect is not available, and even gives me the name of it, plus the TimeCode, where it's located. In my case, I just replaced a 3rd party, or Mac-only Transition, or Effect, with one in my PC-only PrPro 2.0. Neat eh?
It is convoluted, especially as there were times, when both PrE and PrPro were PC-only. Add in several fairly major changes in the Project files from PrE 2.0 through PrE 4.0, and then the old Premiere to PrPro, and you have a real can-o-worms! And, that does NOT take into considerations changes/additions/deletions of some Transitions, Effects, and things like Instant Movies/Themes.
Now, one possible solution would be to use PrE 4.0 (or later) on a PC, to Export/Share the Timeline to MOV, say with the Animation CODEC (think that is a possibility with QT - might need QT Pro? loaded), and Import that MOV into PrPro on the Mac. If I were doing that, I would edit either very loosely, with no Transitions, so I could edit tightly in PrPro, or edit VERY tightly, knowing that changing things like Transitions would have issues. However, one would need PrE 4.0 (or later) ON a PC. Judging from one of your questions, it appears that the PC with PrE 4.0 is no longer available, so the comment above is probably moot in your case.
Most of all, good luck, and hope that you can find the person, that you need, to help you get things mostly into your PrPro.
