No sound on ipad2

My iPad 2 has latest software, just finished updating.
I can not get sound from any app other than Music app.
The settings has the side switch set to lock rotation, not mute.
Any ideas or suggestions please.
64gb non 3g iPad2.

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

  • Some apps won't play sound through iPad2 speakers

I've noticed since updating to iOS 5 and 5.0.1, I've got more apps that won't play sound through ipad2 speakers, but will play sound through earphones though.  Using the same app on the iphone plays sound through the iphone speakers as normal.
It seems to be picky with which apps it does this to as Sky News/BBCiplayer/YouTube/Video/ IMDb all play sound through ipad speakers. Apps like FilmOn plus/ FreeAppMagic/ Falling Gems/ Bejeweled2/ FNS Shift2 will only play sound through earphones.  These Apps updating to the new iOS doesn't fix the sound issue either.
I can use an app that plays sound through iPad speakers, then use an app that doesn't play sound through the speakers, then use another app that does play sound through speakers, so the earphone connection actuator doesn't look like the problem to me.  Maybe some sound drivers may have been lost or deleted with new iOS updates over wifi...?
    Any help would be appreciated.

See if perhaps this is the reason why some apps aren't playing sound.

    No sound on ipad2
    Solution???

    1. If you have no sound at all, even in the Music App, try rebooting the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
    2. If you lost sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications but have sound in the music app, system sounds may have been muted.

    3. If you still have no sound at all ....try cleaning the dock connector opening of the iPad with a soft brush and just a little bit of rubbing alcohol.

  • Sound on ipad2

My sound on my ipad2 keeps going on and off including when I type on the keyboard????? Only got it yesterday x

It seems like you might have an issue with the headphone jack. Have you tried inserting and removing the headphones a few times in succession to see if you can maybe reset whatever is causing the issue inside the device. It almost seems like something is not making contact the way that it should and when you remove the headphones the iPad still thinks that the headphones are still inserted into the device.
That is my completely unscientific explanation - but it does seem to be related to the iPad thinking that the headphone jack is still inside the iPad. Does that make sense to you?

The following is a C&P from a post made by Demo.  It's a better explanation that I can come up with.

  • Some apps do not have sound in ipad2

in my ipad, I do not get sound on some of the apps. sound is working for some apps ( like pbs kids) , also for you tube.
How can I fix it ?

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound. Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

  • No sounds on ipad2

Just went through a reset with an apple support rep yesterday to solve the problem of losing all sounds on iPad. It's decided to do it again. No keyboard clicking sounds, no music - nothing. I have installed iOS 7 and the 7.0.2 update. Any ideas?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

  • Scribblenauts has no sound on ipad2

I am getting no sound from scribblenauts remix.  Other apps have sound just not this one

Had the same problem then realized mute was on in the control bar. Press home twice to bring up app switching then scroll over to the audio controls. Click the speaker button and make sure it's not muted. It's independent of the volume level so I missed it. Hope that helps.

  • Sound on iPad2 suddenly stops working

From one day to an other there is no sound output from the external speakers. I can't change the volume with the buttons, it shows the bar on screen but nothing happens. If I go to the settings and play around with the ringtone volume the speakers work fine. But there is still no sound when I'm running videos, music, apps, lock or unlock the device. Reboot, recover, hard reset and any other trys to make it work failed.
With headphones it's still working. Already checked the headphone input for any debris, negative.
Any ideas? Sorry for my bad english ;)

  • Turn off "you have mail" sound when iPad2 is ASLEEP

My wife's iPad 2 beeps all night as emails come in through her exchange email account.  How do you stop this?  The iPad is ASLEEP, it shouldn't be making any kind of noise in my opinion, and so far it seems impossible to turn off!?  Very un- apple, what gives?
    Thanks
    Bob

My solution to this very annoying "feature" is to do the following:
    Go to settings
    -Mail,Contacts,Calendars
         -Fetch New Data
              -Advanced
                   -Exchange
                        -Set the schedule to "Manual"
I agree with you Michael, I do NOT want to be disturbed by an email notification at night.  I also do not want to hear a pause in my music when I get an e-mail.
Now I simply get my updates when I open my mail client.  If someone needs me right away, they should call.
    Thanks,
    Phil

  • My ipad2 has no sound since upgrading to iOS6

Since I updated my iPad2 (white 64gb wifi only) to iOS 6, it has no more sound.  I don't know if it's just a coincidence or if it's really related to iOS 6.   It seems like a lot of people are also having sound issues.  Some were able to fix it by as simple as switching the mute control or plugging in the headphones.  I tried at least 6 different "solutions" suggested by the people in this forum and on Youtube, but the sound's still not coming back.  It seems like nothing works anymore ever since Steve passed away.  Man, I miss him greatly.  Without sound, my iPad2 is basically useless now.  I really hope I can save my iPad2.  Any assistance in this matter is much appreciated.

Well, that fix worked less than 24 hours. This morning--no sound again. At least this time the Reset only took about 2 minutes. And not all sounds have 'recovered'; I don't hear the click when turning on or off the iPad. And, of course, there's the fun of resetting everything. Re-establishing the network links is probably the worst--right after realizing that my iPad alarm didn't work this morning. Again.
Any other ideas? I'm heading into a Genius Bar tomorrow. I want to be sure Apple knows about the problem! And maybe, maybe there's a fix...

  • Lost sound ipad2

Lost sound on ipad2. Is there something in the setting that got turned off or is there a hardware issue?? Appreciate all the help I can get, thanks.

    Hello RogerFromeC\'ville
Check either the side switch to see if it is set to mute or if it is mute in Control Center. The article below will have more information on a place to start to see the issue for having no sound on your iPad.
