No sound on most games--please help!
Hi,
I am having some kind of problem with my sound on my iMac. I don't know what caused it, or if I did something wrong myself, but here is the problem...
On most--but not all, of my games...there is no sound. Some games DO have sound (not many), some games have sound only on an opening screen & then have no sound afterwards, and a few won't load at all (I get a pop-up notice saying there is some sort of error w/ the sound (I forget the exact wording) and the game will not load).
I am pretty sure that I'm having no hardware problems as all the chips, drives & everything else--passed all the tests on "Tech Tool Deluxe" and there is no problem with the sound on any other type of app other than games (iTunes, Quicktime, Dvd Player, etc.--sound works fine).
I have run permissions repair on Disk Utility (nothing came up to be repaired BTW) and I have restarted (including completly shutting down--and pulling the power cord out of the wall), and I have tried reinstalling several games (the problem does not seem to be with the games...they have exactly the same problem after reinstall. That makes me think the problem is w/ OSX software that communicates the sound data between the game software and the speakers or whatnot).
I hope somebody out there can advise me on what best to do.
~Just FYI...my entire disc is cloned to an ext. HD using "SuperDuper" (I'm a bit worried that the problem could be cloned to the HD along w/ everything else though). I never had to do a system restore or anything like that, but I should be able to do one if it is necessary.

Do you get sound on any apps e.g. Music and Videos but not others ? If you do then have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. Hi there,
No I didn't. Someone suggested in another thread that my iPod was registering as a disk instead of a device, so if I removed my iPod as a disk on Disk Utility then it would reload etc. and show up in iTunes. Which it didn't, and instead just cleared all my music (16,000 songs).
So frustrating.
Hope if you have the same problem you are able to find a better solution! -

Here's what happened to me, and how I resolved it. In my settings, (Settings->General), I had "Use the Slide Switch to:" set to the default, "Mute." I had the slide switch in the mute position when I went into settings and changed the control for the slide switch to "Lock Rotation." This caused the slide switch control to change to rotation locking, but it left the volume control in the muted state.
This is where King_Penguin's response comes in: if the slide switch controls rotation locking, you have to use the home button to get to the mute setting. Double-tap the home button to reveal the application switcher bar at the bottom of the iPad. Then swipe from left to right in that bar to reveal the audio controls. The icon on the far left will be of a speaker. If it has a slash through it, audio is muted. Simply tap the icon to toggle it to a non-muted state. Also, you can verify that the volume level itself is not all the way to the lowest setting. The volume slider is on the right side, next to the Music icon. -
Ps4 Controller not responding in game please help!
My controller has been fine for the past year and a bit, but is now not working in game. It is fine when I am on the home screen but when I start a game all controls except the home button stop working and I cannot play, this problem has occurred in all the games I've tried to play and I have only very recently had this problem. I'm not familiar with XP Home, you should be able to right click on the folder, and set the share permissions. You may have to turn off Simple Sharing to get access to this. Also you can set permissions on the folder as well. The share permissions I believe are Read, Write and Full Control. The NTFS should be able to set Read, Write, Modify, etc. Remember in Windows it will take the least privileged, meaning if you set the Share permissions to Read, and the NTFS to Write, you will only be able to read.

Suddenly no sound... Please help. Been trying to fix it for last 3 hrs.
Can someone please help me with this no sounds issue. I've been trying to fix it for the last 3 hrs. until I've reached the point of wanting to hurt it. So I'm really hoping someone has had this problem before and knows what to do.
I've checked all of my settings. Everything to do with the ringtone sound as well as alerts, the sounds it makes when you send or recieve text.. Just non of the sounds at all work. Not even the clicking sound that the keyboard makes.
I've turned it off and back on after a min or two. I'm at my wits end.

Yes, I feel really stupid, but that's okay as long as it works now. I don't know when I did it, but that was it! I had at some point hit that switch and it never occurred to me at all to check that. In fact.. I really forgot it was even there.
If it didn't cost so much, phone would've met wall a hour and a half ago.

1. Right click speaker icon (right hand corner)
2. Select Playback devices
3. Right click Speakers
4. Enable it and set as Default
5. Click Apply/Ok

</edit>HI GUYS I HAD LOTSA MESSING WITH NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER 10.VIDEO AT FIRST THEN NOTHIN AT ALL.
THEN AFTER UNINSTALLING AND THEN RE INSTALLING ,ICHECKED AGAIN ,YET AGAIN NO VODEO /OR SOUND. I THEN WENT TO TOOL BAR,CLICKED ON TOOL OPTION AND CHECKED THAT FLASH PLAYER WAS ENABLED ,BELIEVE IT IT WAS NOT. I ENABLED FLAS PLAYER THEN WENT BACK ON YOU TUBE AND WOW __EE THERE IT WAS WORKING LIKE A REAL GOOD ONE

Try reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings

Cannot distinguish between left and right sounds IN EARPHONES. Please help!!
when i connect my earphone, i cannot distinguish between left and right sounds (which gives a plesant effect); both left and right sounds are same. Earlier it use to work fine. I realised about this problem when an app-3D audio illusion was was not giving proper sounds, and my ipod songs were also sounding dull. i hav removed that app, but still my ipod songs sound monotonous. I have tried using different headphones, but problem still persists. I am not sure wheather this is a hardware or software issue..PLEASE HELP!!

I unplugged my iphone from my computer and tried to call someone. It wouldn't make any sound; no ringing tone, nothing. So i tried to play a song, it acted like it was playing but no sound came out. i checked all the settings and nothing is turned off or muted. It won't vibrate either. i restored it three times both from the iphone and from the computer. I've restarted it countless times to no avail. i've plugged headphones, computer, and music dock in but nothing makes a sound. PLEASE HELP!
Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. If these steps fail to fix the issue, you'll need to go to Apple for evaluation.

Thank you for your help.Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

It sounds like the phone thinks it is still plugged into a dock connection but it is not.
I would first recommend, if you do have a dock connection, plug it in there and if it shows in iTunes eject it first, then unplug it. If it does not show in iTunes unplug it, and then reset the device with this process:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
That should get your iPhone working properly again.
