I have just purchased this computer installed with Windows 8.1, which immediately upgraded to Windows 10 & after chatting with Microsoft, who couldn't provide an answer, and trying other options suggested by HP troubleshooting, I have still not had the slightest hint of any sound whatsoever.

  • Getting my HP Pavilion g7 with Windows 7 back to normal after a system recovery.

I did a system recovery for my HP Pavilion g7 with Windows 7 and have all of my files on a SanDisk thumb drive. How do I get my laptop's files, folders, shortcuts, applications, etc. all back to the way they were?

Hello marinegf.  I understand you've lost your sound after performing a System Restore.
What is the product number for your notebook?  There are many versions of the HP 2000 and this will make it easier for me to locate any appropriate software.  This document can show you how to identify the notebook by the product number.
Also, it may be helpful to know what issue you encountered which led you to perform a System Restore.
The first suggestion I can offer you is to run Microsoft's Audio Troubleshooter.  Here is a link to the utility.
If the troubleshooter is unable to resolve the issue I suggest you next try removing the driver and allowing Windows to perform the reinstall.  I assume you're using Windows 7, so these instructions will be for Vista/7.
Click Start, type "Device Manager," and press Enter.
Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section.
Right click on your audio device and select "Uninstall."
Reboot your computer and allow Windows to perform the reinstallation of the driver.
Verify whether or not you have sound and post the result!
I'll keep an eye out for your reply.  I hope you have a great day!
Please click the white star under my name to give me Kudos as a way to say "Thanks!"
Click the "Accept as Solution" button if I resolve your issue.

  • How do I enable the blue function keys on an old Pavilion N5445 with Windows XP?

Yes, how do I enable the blue function keys on an old Pavilion N5445 with Windows XP?
The blue function keys currently do not work.
There is NO mention of the function keys (or even action keys) in the BIOS.
Let me repeat that so that nobody posts a stupid link to how to turn on the function keys in the BIOS. THIS IS AN OLDER LAPTOP.

Somehow the function keys got turned off. So I suspect there's a way to turn them on again.

I regret that you are experiencing an issue with the function keys. • HP Advisor stops working on my Pavilion p6330f with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit system

My computer is a  Pavilion p6330f  with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit system.  It bothers me when I get error messages and can't seem to correct the problem.  After loging onto my computer  a message comes on that the HP Advisor stopped working. When I attempt to load the HP Advisor it gives me the same message and does not come up.

HP Advisor-one of the first things I uninstall, flaky software.
Have you tried the update for Advisor from your support & drivers page?

    Hello there,
I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 and after i disassembled and reassembled it to clean the fan, the lap top has no sound. In the device manager an error on ''PCI bus9, Device 9, function 2 & 3'' was appeared but after i installed new drivers the errors was fixed and it was written that the device was working properly. but unfortunately the device is not working properly because i stills have no sound. I also disassembled and reassembled for second time to find out if the problem was minor like an unplugged cable but everything was completely fine. Operation system: Windows 7 64 bit.  Can someone please tell me what to do?

  • No Sound - DC7600 Small Form Factor with Windows 7

I've searched through this forum but no other solutions helped ...
I just bought one of these second hand and installed Windows 7 on it. No sound comes from the inbuilt speaker, although in Device Manager it says it has the drivers and that they're working correctly.
    The little speaker at the bottom has a red cross over it as if it's muted. When I click on that I get this message;
"The peripheral does not appear to be plugged in. Check the connection. Proceed to next step to finish."
And it tells me to plug headphones in?
Tried looking on the HP website for drivers but it only goes up to Vista. I've also run Windows update and installed every update available but still nothing.
Any chance of the sound working on this PC with Win 7?
    Thanks in advance

Hey i just ran into this same problem, but was able to solve it.
    1) Download the most recent windows vista 32bit audio drivers from here. (or navigate to the page on HPs website yourself)
    2) Once downloaded, run the file. The install will fail but will create the folder "swsetup" on your "C" drive.
    3) Open up control panel --> system and security --> Device Manager
    4) Under "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" right click the audio device that appears and choose "Update Driver Software"
    5) Click "browse my computer for driver software".
    6) Click "Browse" and navigate to "C:\swsetup\SP35288\Vista", click "OK" and then "next"
    7) The driver should then begin installing.
This process worked for me, and I hope it works for you too.

  • HP Pavilion a1210n with Windows Vista 32bit. looking for audio drivers. Can you point me to a link?

    Hello,
I have an HP Pavilion a1210n running Windows Vista 32bit. I'm missing the audio drivers and can't seem to find them. Can you point me to a link for these drivers?
    Thanks, It's much appricieated!

I found this link but it doesn't talk about audio drivers in the multimedia package. Am I missing something? Does Vista need to have all OS updates installed for this to work?
    Thanks again!

  • My HP Pavilion 775C with Windows XP 32 bit SP3 has begun to startup in Windows Recovery Mode.

I have had many problems with my Pavilion a775c desktop, running XP 32 Bit with SP3 and 2.5 G Ram.  I was receiving a Fatal Error message 1327 that Drive M did not exist.  I did a selective startup eliminating the programs I thought were causing this but that did not help.  Then I cleaned away all the files for any HP printer, and for my current printer, an  Officejet j3680 All-in-One, and then reinstalled it.  That took care of the fatal error message but I began to get a message that my DRive D was out of memory.  I deleted some regular files that were previously stored on that drive before I increased the memory on my Drive C but I continued to receive that message.  I cleaned the registry with Registry Mechanic and then deleted files I though would not harm the computer and I no longer get the Drive D low on memory message but now the computer starts up each time in recovery mode and If I'm not there to select the Windows XP option it goes to a dos screen but nothing ever happens from there.   I'm not that familiar with DOS and don't know anything except to type EXIT which I did and the computer would reboot giving my an opportunity to select Windows XP.  Now, however, it won't allow me to type EXIT.  I must instead hit enter and then it goes to the screen that allows me to select the Windows environment.  I really don't want to have to do this each time I start up.  Can anyone help?

I am not that familiar anymore with troubleshooting Windows XP, but way back in the day I seem to recall that the Windows recovery console would be used to fix issues like the one you're describing. It sounds like you may have a corrupted boot sector if it keeps going into the windows recovery mode.  The solution could be as simple as using the last known good configuration or possibly doing a system restore.  You may want to try this link on Technet that explains the recovery console and the tools available in it like fixmbr..

  • How do i reset my pavilion g7 with windows 7 laptop?

I need to reset my pavilion when I hit the F11 key nothing happens

    Hi,
There are Two options to try and reinstall Windows - the 2nd is the easiest, but you may want to try the 1st to see if it will save you having to order a replacement set of discs - make sure to back-up any important files first.
    1.  If you can still boot in to Windows, hold down the Windows Key and press R.  Into the Run Box type compmgmt.msc and hit enter.  Click Disk Management in the left pane and when the partitions have loaded, right click the Recovery Partition and mark it as 'Active'.  Close all open windows and then restart - if this has worked, the notebook will boot from the Recovery Partition upon restart.
    2.  You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below.

If you have any problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

  • No sound on Satellite Pro A120 with Windows Vista

    Hi
I have had to reinstall my Vista operating system and rebuild my A120 Satellite Pro from the revovery disk.
Most things are fine but I cant get any sound from the speakers of headphine jack.
I have checked andit says that the Realtek High Definition Sound Driver is installed and working correctly.
My volume buttons are up high on the mixer and on Windows Media Player.
    The driver is Realtek 6.0.1.5317
    Help would be much appreciatesd

Nothing through the speakers, nothing via the headphone socket. Volume bar goes up and down with the music as it should do when you play an audio file. Tried the Windows Vista built in driver, the Realtek ones from the Toshiba site.
Last thing to try is rebuilding to the XP support disk, making sure the volume is right at the tip and unmuted, and try reinstalling Vista again, which is tonight's job, but I'm not feeling hopeful about it. Like I said before the toshiba unmute tool didn't do anything for me.

  • My HP Pavilion a6357c with Windows Vista 32-bit freezes until the system warms up

Any time I start the computer up when it hasn't been used, the system fails to boot.  It will freeze up in the process where I have to hold the "ON" button down to shut it down and then attempt to reboot.  the system will freeze just about anywhere in the process.  Sometimes I get to log in with my user name, and then the screen will freeze up.  Sometimes trigger a blue screen, sometimes a black screen and then perform a hard disc diagnostic routine.  Once whatever component warms up, the system works great.
