No sound on my Qosmio G50-10h

Hi,
Every now and again the sound disappears from my laptop.
Sometimes it's all the sounds / beeps, other times I can hear the beeps when I press the buttons at the top of the keyboard (Dolby, Media Center etc).
I've downloaded the sound driver for the machine (realtek hd audio), sometimes it fixes it, but most times it doesn't.
When all the sounds disappear and I click the 'Dolby' button at the top of the keyboard I receive the following error "No audio end points".
I've looked in device manager when there is no sound, but nothing irregular appears.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
James

I have the same problem with my X305-Q705.
I had some problems with sound skipping, and decided to go to the Toshiba website and install sound drivers.
After I installed Microsoft HD Audio drivers from the Toshiba website, Dolby no longer works.
I cannot start it from Start>Programs>Dolby or from the Hotbar touchbuttons on the keyboard.
Also, I realized the built in Webcam is still installed, but the MIC is not registering as a Recording device anymore.
The error given is "No valid audio endpoints found" with the Dolby icon on the taskbar.
Hopefully someone can find a fix soon. :)

  • Where to buy an Qosmio G50-10h

    Hi
I want to buy a Qosmio G50-10h. However none of the g50 range seems available from the toshiba site
    ...nor anywhere else
Does anyone know why it is not available and when it would be?
    Thank you

    > I was going to get a g50 too - don't Toshiba want to sell their stuff, or have they discovered something wrong with them? If they're not available very soon, I'll have to go with other notebooks.
LOL you are funny guy Maybe the Qosmio G50 is out of stock because its a really nice notebook and many people want to buy this unit ;)
    Did you think about this??
I dont know why UK dealers dont have this unit on stock in my country (Germany) I could find several online shops and dealers who offer this notebook series

  • How many WLan antenna's are installed in Qosmio G50-10H?

I am trying to connect a DIR-855 D-Link to the G50 build in WIFI Link 5100 and can't get an connection higher then 150Mbps.
According to the specs of pre-N v. 2.0 at least 3 antenna's are needed to reach higher then 150Mbps.
So my question is how many antenna's does the Toshiba G50-10H have. build in.

I assume the Qosmio G50-10H supports 3 wires WLan antenna because the built in WLan card Intel 802.11agn ShirleyPeak MiniCard supports the 802.11 Draft-N and this is a presupposition for such Draft N support.
PS: In your case I would recommend checking the +device manager -> WLan card properties -> Advanced tab+ if the draft N and other needed settings have been enabled

  • Qosmio G50-10h - strange display issues

My Qosmio G50 was running less brightly for a few months, then experienced intermittent fault whereby Qosmio logo would show on the screen, then the windows logo for a split second, then the screen would black-out completely. Restarting or hitting function f5 might resolve the situation. Now the problem has become permanent. I cannot get the screen working other than to show the qosmio logo, then a bit of the windows start up, then black-out.
I have been through the maintenance manual and options are Inverter? Screen? fluoro? System board? That is the question... Without all the spares, it's difficult to determine what is the cause... I Have an inverter on order but they have sent two wrong parts and when the right one does eventually arrive i am not sure that's going to cure the problems
Really need to use the computer. Your thoughts and assistance will be greatly appreciated
    Kind regards
    Simon Riley
    (ironysmile)

    Macius, thanks for your thoughts...
I tried f8 at start (don't know how to do the bios thing)... The f8 resulted in a black screen which I was able to flip into working for a second by pressing fn f5 twice (switch screens and backs again)... This cause a slight fizzing noise from the area of the inverted and then blackout again... Did this a few times as start up took place and then it stopped working and was irretrievably blacked out
Does this help narrow down the search any further?

  • Qosmio G50 No sound over HDMI

*Qosmio G50 No sound over HDMI*
    Hi all,
Hopefully anyone recognises the following and would be so kind to help me. I have searched the forum and tried severall of the offered solutions mainly applicable to Vista, but still.
I hooked up my Qosmio G50 to my Philips LCD by HDMI cable. Picture is ok but there is no sound. I tested the cable with a Toshiba Satelite Pro L550 and it works allright. Picture and Sound are working. But that laptop has Intel HDMI audio.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I upgraded by Toshiba update DVD from Vista 64 bit. Sadly I do not know for sure if HDMI audio did work before that. I think so because I did use the laptop for watching a movie on a Panasonic plasma. But I can not remember if that was before or after the upgrade.
Realtek HD Audio device is installed driver version 6.0.1.5923
Realtek HDMI Output is selected als default playback device.
Testing gives me graphical response ( the indicator flashes ) but no audible sound from my tv.
Choosing the other audio device Realtek Digital output changes nothing and I do not believe that this would work anyway.
I have tried removing the device and reinstalling the original drivers. I have tried REaltek drivers from their website.
I have tried changing the view to HDMI only but that does nog change anything either.
One thing that worries me is that under Sound / Realtek HDMI Output / properties / Supported Formats there are no formats present. The Satelite gives me DTS audio and some other. So I am wondering if there should be formats present and if so how can I change this / add any.
Please forgive me if there are errors in the text. I am translating this from a dutch language version of Windows 7.
Please help me. Any suggestions are welcome!

Jeka-?? & PinkPanther thanks for your replies!
The solution for the G30 you mention is not the one for me I am sorry to say. I have tried that one allready. Windows automatically switches on the HDMI audio out when I connect an HDMI cable. Connecting the cable before switching on the TV and laptop is a good thing to try because it eliminates possible problems with the connection. The connection in my case is ok.
At some point I concluded that there must be a softwareproblem of some sort.
I have found the solution over night. Could not sleep anyway. I did not know that the videodrivers are also handling HDMI audio out but in a way it makes sense. I have completely deinstalled the NVIDIA video drivers. After downloading the latest drivers and installing them everything works absolutely fine!

  • Qosmio G50-10I - No synchronization on TV between image and sound

My problem is that there is no synchronization between image and sound (+the sound is late about 5 seconds+)
when i watch TV on Windows Media Center on Qosmio G50-10I
I tried to change the settings on Windows Media Center but some will be escape.

How did you connect this TV to the G50?
Do you use the HDMI cable which provides the audio and video signal together at the same time or did you connect the TV with two different cables (for audio signal & video signal)?
Please check additionally the settings in Realtek HD audio manager which can be found in the control panel. There you can change some sound effects for different audio outputs (HDMI, digital, speakers)
PS: Last but not least install some codecs. I recommend a package called K-Lite Mega codec package

10 minutes ago I tested it with Windows Movie Maker (Vista) too. Here some facts:
    - My Sony cam was recognized properly
    - Started Windows Movie Maker and chosen option IMPORT > From digital video camera
    - Browsed into right folder
    - On next step from alone application started rewinding videotape
    - Importing video started from alone and when finished I checked it and sound was there.
Later I chosen option "Publish to" > This computer and after 20 minutes everything was finished.
I use simply firewire cable. Nothing special.
I really don't understand what is wrong there.
Is this first time you do this?

  • Qosmio G50-115 - Overheating?

After shutting down my 10 days old G50 it refused to restart.
I noticed the white A/C light was blinking orange which, according to the manual, indicated a heat dispersal problem. I checked the fan covers at the back and made sure nothing was blocking them. Everything seemed fine and I waited a while but it still wouldn't start. I took the battery out and checked that, even though I was running on mains power. After I replaced the battery it started but after turning off once again refused to start.
I removed the external hard drive, a Simpletech 250GB USB-powered drive which, after I inserted it into a USB port a box opened and stated that this drive would perform faster if I connected it to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port, for a list of ports click here.
This showed me a load of ports and I found it to be quite confusing. Anyway, I decided the external drive just wasn't powerful enough to operate itself properly so I added a 6v (the correct one for the drive) adapter, the information box still opened but I used it while powered anyway. I've since kicked the drive into touch and the laptop starts every time, however it seems to be quite slow and takes almost 4 minutes to go from booting up to on-line readiness.
I like to have quite a lot of hard drive space and had toyed with the idea of purchasing the G50-10H but I'd been advised to opt for the G50-115 as the 10H is 35W, the 115 25W apparently the less heat generated in a laptop the better, I'm wondering if I can upgrade my laptop's hard drives to 800GB?
    Regards, Russell.

I chose the 10H over the 115 for its features. I don't give a stuff for 10W! Anyway, to your problem.
Difficult to diagnose at a distance but the first thing that comes to mind is whether you were using two USB ports for the external HDD. On laptops, there should only be ½ amp available at each USB port and the HDD needs 1 amp (these days). So that's the first thing we need to know. I wasn't fooled by the SATA port at the back of my Qosmio and I haven't been able to find a single cable that will work through that port. I connected a powered USB hub to one USB port and put mmy twin USB cable into two ports of the hub and then into the external SATA drive. All USB ports on the Qosmio are USB 2.
On some laptops (and I think this is poor design), the device can draw the 1 amp it needs but that potentially stresses the USB port and perhaps that was one of the meanings of the orange semaphore. This could be what happened to you if you only connected with one USB cable.
Can you change the HDDs in your laptop? Yes - with great care. The principal steps are:
    1/
Create the restore disks on DVD if you haven't already done so - to get you back to square 1 if necessary.
    2/
Copy your data from the current HDDs (including PST files and the like - all this needs thought and care) to the external HDD connected with a dual USB cable. If you can't do that, then file your data somewhere over the network - like a SAN drive. BEST would be to put your data on the second of the two larger drives you are creating. Make this the D: drive.
    3/
Put one of your new twin disks (the one from which you will boot) into a SATA enclosure connected by USB as above described.
    4/
Use Symantec's GHOST programme to take an image of your existing boot HDD onto the new HDD in the USB SATA enclosure. Ghost should work as the boot disk doesn't use up 4 partitions from what I can see in Disk Management.
    5/
Remove both HDDs from the 115 and make a note of their position in case you have to return to that configuration.
    6/
Insert the two new drives in the 115. Somehow you'll have to find out which is drive 0 and which is drive 1 - I've only done this on a Dello laptop with a single drive. Easiest way is to look for a marking. Otherwise just put the boot HDD into a slot and see if it works - move it if it doesn't.
This effort needs concentration and the above sequence needs study before you execute it. You will always be able to return to status quo with this approach. You will, of course, void your warranty.
Let us know your thoughts and whether I've got the symptom analysis right; if not we;ll need to know full detail of what you're connecting and how.

  • Re: Weak Microphone on Qosmio G50-12U

    Hello,
I have "Qosmio G50-12U" laptop and everything is perfect, except the built in microphone.
When I try to communicate with people by "SkyPe" and I don't want to use headphones, I have to be very close to my monitor in order the other side to hear me.
When I talk using built in microphone to some people using for example "Toshiba Satelite L675" they can stand 5 meters from their laptop and I can hear them very good and loud. I have to be very close to my microphone, otherwise they will not hear me.
I checked all setups and have the drivers "Realtek Semiconductor" from 08.24.2009 driver version 6.0.1.6923
When I use headphones, the sound is perfect to the other side.
I also checked in web camera setup. Everything looks normal.
    I am suspecting:
    -"SkyPe"
    - drivers
    - hardware
I cannot believe that such a good laptop has such a bad microphone..
    Anybody have some advice?
    Thanks

    @silas
Yes, weak is much better description :)
English is not my native language ( I am from Serbia) and that's why I used the wrong word.
    Sorry for bad English
I checked several setups and finally I finished with some setup which seems to work a little better.
The problem is definitelly in my laptop.
I am using exclusively SkyPe to communicate with my daughter and my clients.
Whoever I call they are all using the built in microphone and they can talk from up to 5 meters distance and I hear them excellent.
I have to be no more than 0.5 meter away in order for my clients or daughter to hear me at least acceptable.
Another laptop I have is Toshiba Satelite L675 and the situation is much different. I can use built in microphone and I can talk from much bigger distance.
I am wondering if I should take the laptop to the service and they might check it and eventually replace the microphone with a better one?
Anyway, thank you for your attention people. It is good to know there is someone who is trying to help

  • How to connect video-in cable with Qosmio G50?

    Hi
I bought the Qosmio G50-11S, and received a video in cable with it. (Red/White/Yellow RCA jack to mini jack) But I cannot find any way of connecting it to my notebook, not the manual nor any online resources talks about it. The issue is I need to capture video from my video recorder to my notebook and the normal TV antenna comes with a lot of noise, so I which to utilize the video in cable. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    M

    Hello
In the past Ive made some experiments with it. I wanted to create DVDs copying the material from old VHS recorder. Do you want to use the same recorder? Ive done this on Qosmio G30 but the principle is the same.
The fact is that you must send the signal to the notebook and for this you must use video-in port.
I don't see your Qosmio has several of them so I think only way to send signal into your notebook is to use antenna-in port. Which video-out port you want to use on your recorder?

  • How to connect satellite set-top box to Qosmio G50 using RCA video-in cable

I want to connect my satellite set-top box to my Qosmio G50 laptop using the RCA video-in cable I received with the computer. (yellow, red, white RCAs and a Jack)
Could you help me where should I plug this cable as I have not found any instructions in the users manual. (The user's manual list this cable on page 21, so it can be used for something somehow for sure!)
(The set-top box does not have coaxial output, and I do not want to include another machine (eg. an old VCR) just to use coaxial connection.)
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • How to install "YUAN FM100" on Qosmio G50?

I recently purchased a new Toshiba Qosmio G50 laptop.
From the first start up Windows keeps giving me a message saying 'Windows needs to install driver software for your YUAN FM100'.
Google suggests YUAN is the company that makes the TV Tuner software - I emailed their support centre a couple of weeks ago, but have had no response.
I can't find the driver anywhere - I've spent ages googling this.
I'm running 64 bit Windows Vista, if that's relevant?
In 'device manager', under 'other devices' Qosmio G50 comes up twice, both with the yellow warning exclamation mark.
Should I disable both of these?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give - please reply using words a 3 year old would understand!
    Thanks
    Steve

    Thanks to both of you.
    Short story - success!
    Long story;
The driver isn't C:\TOSAPINS so I went to www.toshiba.ca (I'd already looked in the .au - Australia site, where I'd bought the machine).
The driver is available for 4 different variations of Qosmio G50 PQG55C, however, I have PQG55A. I downloaded the driver anyway (for the PQG55C 043049) but it didn't work. 'Windows could not find driver software for your device'.
So then I clicked setup in the downloaded utility, and it appeared to install the whole FM Tuner application. I have the impression my PC was asking me for a driver for a program which it didn't fully have, but then I'm a moron so what do I know.
Anyway, all installed now, and it's not asking me for any more drivers.
Haven't a clue how to open or use the FM tuner though...
    Thank you!
    Steve

  • Need new laptop charger for my Qosmio G50

I've got a Toshiba Qosmio G50 laptop that I bought quite a few years ago and the charger for it finally konked out on me from heavy use and bending of the cord.
I've been trying to search for a charger for it with the same specifications as the one I currently have. I think the product number for it is PA3658E-1AC3B and it's specs are like 120W, 6.3A, 19V, 5.5mm/2.5mm.
I have been unable to find a charger with these specs and when I search for other chargers with similar specs and so on, when lists of compatible laptops come up, my laptop is never in the list. Now I'm wondering if this is due to because the laptop is actually incompatible or due to the fact that it is rather quite old.
Also, does anyone know what laptop chargers I could be able to use or specs for them. Like would a charger with these specs work for my laptop?
    Output: 19V 4.74A 90W
    DC Barrel Tip: 5.5 x 2.5mm
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I dont know where do you live but go to eBay and there you will find proper charger. As far as I know you can use any charger that is offered for Qosmio G50.
If you want to have original part for your model contact nearest Toshiba service provider in your country and order one.

  • Qosmio G50-12F won't turn on

    I got a Qosmio G50-12f
    n : PQG55E-04C02YFR
The problem is: when I plug on the dc power I got a white light on the dc plug picture and a orange light on the battery picture.
When I want to power on the laptop, the white light turn off 1 second (maybe) and get back to initial position and the light of the battery turn off definitely.
I tried to find answers on the web. All I find is that maybe due to power: dc jack connector or power cable (the one which goes from the dc in jack to the motherboard or the battery power board under the mouse pad ..
    Well Im lost
Anyone has answer? I want to repair it on my own.
    Thank you

    Hi
This does not look good dude
Im afraid that your motherboard could be faulty.
The battery indicator flashes orange because of charging.
If the battery indicator would be blue (or green), then this would mean that the battery is fully charged.
What you can do is to remove one of the memory modules and try to boot up the unit using one module in each slot
Sometimes faulty RAM prevent the notebook from booting.
However, such notebook symptoms are mostly related to serious hardware issues and it would be advisable to get in contact with an notebook technician who could test the hardware for malfunction
