No sound or clicker

Any reason why the ipod classic would play but have no sound. I have read of others having this problem, what was the outcome?

Is the clicker sound disabled via Settings -> Clicker?
Regarding sound from music, movie, podcast playback, have you tried another set of earbuds? Have you worked through the 5 R's of troubleshooting yet to rule out the possibility that the problem is software related?

Alt + sound icon click not working

Hi, Merry Christmas and a Happy new year firstly!
I have been using airport express to stream ITunes music and all works fine (well most of the time)
Tried to stream Spotify yesterday for some christmas music (I dont own any on itunes) and everytime i Alt+sound icon clicked and selected Airport express, it basically just ignored it and defaulted to internal speakers, I googled this and tried the only thing i could find which was to activity monitor kill coreAudio but to no avail, still no music to my sound system.
any ideas??

TS4080 apple thunderbolt display image on display intermittently goes dark, does not wake from sleep after clicking mouse or keyboard, but there is "bonk" sound after clicking mouse or pressing keys. Rebooting by pressing the power button resolves issue.

My apple thunderbolt display (which I purchased 1.5 years ago; OS 10.7.5 Mac Mini) intermittently goes dark, does not wake from sleep after clicking mouse or keyboard, but there is "bonk" sound after clicking mouse or pressing keys, so am thinking it is a hardware problem with the display. Rebooting by pressing the power button turns the screen back on, but the same phenomenon has occurred several times. Could this be a software issue, or do I need to have my display repaired? Your feedback would be appreciated.

Hi ED, tough to tell, but it does sound like it's waking with the bonk, just not displaying.

I wonder if it's a variation of this, of which I've seen many different symptoms...
Resolution
Move the mouse or trackpad cursor over the center area of the login window so you can see the user icons. Click on the icon of the user that you would like to login as, type in the user's password, and press Return.
If the login window is configured to show only the name and password fields, type in the user's name and password into the fields, and press Return (even if you cannot see the rest of the login window).
Additional Information
This issue will not occur if the display is not sleeping when the account is logged out. Use the steps below to confirm that the account is not configured to log out automatically while the display is sleeping:
1. Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. Click the padlock to unlock the preference pane and enter your admin password. Click the Advanced button at the bottom, then see if the option "Log out after N minutes of inactivity" (where N is the number of minutes) is enabled.
2. Open System Preferences > Energy Saver and configure Display Sleep to occur after the account is logged out, by dragging the slider to a number of minutes that is greater than N was set to in the previous step.
Important: If automatic log out is not needed, disable "Log out after Nminutes of inactivity" in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. This will also prevent the issue.

Check to see if the "silent" switch is turned on. This is either the hardware switch next to the volume control or a software switch on the "recent apps" tray depending on how you have your iPad configured (Settings > General).
Too see the software switch on the "recent apps" tray double-click the Home button and swipe the tray to the right.

How can I get the sounds , like clicking,etc to work on iPad 2 with IOS 5. In the settings all sounds are on and the volume is high but I don't get a sound.

After downloading IOS 5, I no longer get the sounds on my IPAD 2 to work. They are on in settings and the volume is at maximum, but the sounds such as keyboard click, email sent etc, donor work.
Any suggestions.

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. Upgraded to iTunes 6.0.5 sound now clicks and pops.

I've been using iTunes 6 happily up until yeasterday when I was prompted to upgrade to 6.0.5. I did this and now the sound of all of my purchased music is like an old scratched vinyl LP. At regular intervals there are clicks and pops in the music.
This did not happen until I upgraded. Strangely if I play the same tracks in QuickTime Player rather than in iTunes they pay without faults. I've tried changing settings to Safe Mode (waveOut only)and it makes no difference to the quality of the playback.
So, is there any way to revert to the old iTunes installation or is there a fix for 6.0.5?
FWIW, QuickTime Player isn't much of a solution since it doesn't support playlists.

How to play sound after clicking on an object?

Can anyone explain me how to play a sound in java when I click on a particular object? I have read lots of threads but couldn't find anything. All I want is a short sound(3,4 seconds) to be played each time I click on an object. I know I need to use Sound API but I cannot find anything helpful

Application makes a sound when clicking alt + any key

I have an EventListener that catches the key down and key up events to see if Alt is being pressed for certain hotkeys. I noticed when you hold down Alt + anykey the application makes a sound. I thought this may have been from what I had overwritten, but I opened an application that had nothing in it and hit alt + any key and it made the same sound. Where is this sound coming from and how can I remove it?

I don't think so. If I hit Alt + 1, while no AIR app is running it doesn't make the sound.
If I click Alt + 1, when any AIR app is running it makes the sound.

Change sounds, by clicking same button

I need to create a button, that will play one sound at a time
when it's being clicked, switching to a different sound from the
library each time it's clicked. (I have about 10 sounds at the

Actually, I got it to work - I just removed the line

If that doesn't solve it then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Sound with Click Box

Hi,
I have a series of photos on a slide and for each an audio
track. Currently using a rollover caption (minus the text) to play
the sound track. The client would prefer to be able to click on the
photo to hear the audio track. How can I do that? I have tried the
clickbox but it plays the imported audio as soon as the slide
appears.
Any help would be appreciated. As usual, thanks in advance
for the help!

Hi Gary
What you could do is change that Rollover Caption to a
standard caption. Well, sort of. Unfortunately there is no magickal
way of changing from one type of object and transmogrifying to a
different type of object. So you would need to delete the rollover
caption. Then insert a standard Text Caption and configure it as
you have the rollover. The trick here is that you would stage the
Click Box object so that it paused the slide at a particular spot.
Perhaps at half a second in. Then stage the invisible Caption with
the audio to begin at perhaps 0.6 or 0.7 seconds in. Configure the
Click Box to simply Continue (That's the default setting anyway).
The end result should be that the slide pauses, then after
your user clicks the Click Box, they hear the audio.

Loss of sound after clicking on "snapshot/default" in entertainment m

I recently had to reinstall a new Windows XP OS. Had soundlblaster before the crash and got it up and running again with new OS. When I went to reset all my preferred settings, I came across two problems: first, there was an echo whenever I spoke into my headset and second, after somehow managing to get that problem corrected, I clicked on "Snapshot" then "default" and all sound stopped - no headphone audio, no anything. Trying every possible thing, I eventually fumbled around and got sound from my desktop?speakers, but the echo? was back. And still have not been able to recover sound from headset. Help! How do I easily recover my settings or reset them, how do I get rid of the echo, and how can I save those preferred settings once I regain them? Can someone please help?me?

Might be corrupted sound preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following;
/Library/Preferences/Audio
Click Go then move both .plist files from the Audio folder to the Trash.
com.apple.audioDeviceSettings.pllist
com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
Restart your Mac. See if that made a difference ...
