yes, BlackBerry has acknowledged this bug in this article from the public knowledge base:

    Please Help!!

There's a countless number of volumes on the iPhone.
The Main volume, On-Call volume, Music volume, Siri volume, Directions volume, etc. etc.
While On-Call with an individual or Voice Mail for example, make sure you're holding the up button to it's maximum.

  • Qosmio X500 - Very low sound

    Hello everyone!
I have a problem with my new Qosmio X500. Its speakers produce a very low sound, especially when I'm using Guitar Pro. Please, tell me, if it can be improved somehow. Thanks a lot!

Have you tried adjusting the speaker enhancements? This Increased the volume quite a bit for me.
Open "SOUND" from the control panel, on the "Playback" tab double click "Speakers" This will bring up the "Speaker Properties" box. Go to the enhancements Tab. "Loudness Equalization" made the biggest increase for me.

  • Very low sound volume on Portege R500

The sound volume on my R500 (R500-11c to be exact) is ridiculously low. Only with volume maxed out (100) and using headphones do I hear anything at all, and even then it's way too low to be useful. I can just make out the test sounds in the left and then right earphone when using the test sound found at Control Panel -> Sound -> Speakers (there are no Headphones to be selected) -> Properties -> Advanced -> Test. Unplugging the headphones I hear nothing from the speakers, due to the (very low) sounds made by the fan and HDD. Playing music (with headphones) I can just make out that sounds are being produced, but I can't even make out what is playing.
I've tested the things mentioned in the "Satellite 5105-S901 Sound is very low (even on max volume) using supplied Toshiba driver" thread with no success (including Loudness Equalization).
I'm running Vista Business 32bit, and have tried the driver_audio_realtek26117B.exe, driver_audio_realtek_TC00157600B.exe, and Vista_Win7_R243_x86.exe driver files, and also used the util_mute_off_25847B.exe utility.
Enabling mute makes the already faint sounds go completely silent, so I don't think it's a mute issue.
Jack detection does work, I can see that in the Realtek HD Audio Manager program. Using that program's sound test (Speaker Configuration) I have to go to a completely silent room, and even then I only hear something in the right earphone. (I think; it's so darn low I could be imagining I hear it.)
Decreasing the sound volume slider from 100 does make the almost inaudible sound even harder to even notice, and at around 45 it is no longer audible even in a quiet room with headphones.
So it seems that I somehow need to reset the audio chip to "normal" level. Or it is broken and can't output anything more audible.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can try next? I can boot to XP or Linux if anyone has any ideas on how to get sound there, just to get started. (They're silent as well, I haven't done as extensive testing under those as under Vista.)

    Hello, and thanks for answering.
Yes, I have tried increasing the volume in control panel -> Realtek HD audio manager. No success.
I have used a bunch of different drivers, both from toshiba's website and realtek's.
Recently did a fresh XP install on another hard drive (don't have Vista install media), tried both 5.10.0.5869 and 5.10.0.6066 drivers (5.10.0.6066 is from march 13, 2010), sound still as low no matter what I do.
Did the really desperate thing: bought a new (used) sound module on ebay ("Toshiba Portege R500 (PPR50E-00L048EN) USB jack" on ebay.co.uk), but it has the same problem as the original one.
A hardware problem... well maybe, I was thinking perhaps the sound module doesn't get enough power from the motherboard, but since there is some sound (although very low), the USB jack on the module works, the headphone/mic jack detection works, and the diagnostics found in the Control Panel all say that the device is working OK, I don't think it's a hardware problem.
I'm guessing there is a problem with the drivers initializing the sound to a ridiculously low setting, and increasing the volume level to 100 makes it go up to a level equal to perhaps 2 in a regular system. That should be solved by a fresh install, but it isn't.
Perhaps the BIOS messes up the sound? But re-flashing the BIOS doesn't help...
    Anyone got any other ideas?
I've googled and found people having problems with low sound volume on other laptops using the ALC262 chip, but no general solution.

  • IdeaCentre B520 - sound recording too low, sound on Skype too low

    Hi
When I speak on Skype or use Sound Recorder to record my voice (using internal microphone), the sound is very low.
I think I have turned up every possible Microphone and Audio setting on the system to its highest.
My IdeaCentre B520 is very new and I haven't installed anything else on it other than Skype.
    OS is Windows 7 x64.
I used the Lenovo automatic check for drivers and it said all drivers up to date.
I haven't had a system with an internal microphone before, I literally just talk (loudly) at the monitor, I presume there isn't anything else I need to do?!
Thanks for any help you can give with this frustrating problem!
    Patricia

    Hello Patricia,
This is not good to know that you are encountering the issue with your new desktop.
Please make sure that the Audio driver version is 6.0.1.6294, if it is not then you may download it from the mentioned below web link.
    http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/ie/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_show_4706.html
If the version of the driver is same then you can try the settings.
    1. Right-click the icon of the speakers icon at the notification area, and then click “Sounds
    2. Click the tab “Recording”, and then click “Microphone” à select “Properties”.
    3. Select the tab “Listen”, and then check “Listen to this device”. Apply it, and the function will be enabled.
    Best Regards,
    Tanuj

  • Very low sound

Just purchased Mini Notebook NB205-N230.  I am very disappointed in the sound quality.  All the speaker icons indicate they are at 100% and nothing is muted.  What do I do?  Thanks

It appears the NB205-N230 uses some form of Realtek audio drivers. If this is the case check for and enable "Loudness Equalization" on the Speaker Properties. This has helped improve the low audio levels on other Toshiba latpops. Under Windows 7 Home with the Realtek HD audio drivers the "Loudness Equalization" check box can be found on the Control Panel --> Hardware and Sound --> Sound --> Speakers (select Speakers then select the Properties button) --> Enhancements tab. "Loudness Equalization" is found under the enhancement options list (may have to scroll down the list to find it). Another way to enable the "Loudness Equalization" option if you find a Realtek Audio Manager icon under the Hardware and Sound page, is to look on the Sound Effects tab of the Audio Manager and enable the "Loudness Equalization" check box and click OK to save the settings.
Other suggestions are to update the audio drivers from either the Toshiba support site or from the Realtek site and enable "Loudness Equalization" if the option is available. On my L505 series laptop the default installed audio drivers and the updated Toshiba ones both exhibited very low audio. Uninstalling the Toshiba version that came with the laptop and installing the Microsoft generic audio driver or installing the latest Realtek drivers from Realtek and enabling "Loudness Equalization" helped improve the system sounds audio volume level.

  • Speaker very low sound

The speaker of my HP slate 10 is very low...please help me!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Dear Customer,
Welcome to HP Support Forum and we are glad to assist you.
It looks like you are having difficulties with regards to the volume of the Table [HP Slate 10]
Please try rebooting the Table once to check if that resolves the issue
    OR
How does your Slate perform with just audio files using the Play Music app?  And, have you tried playing a movie trailer from Google Play?  Just tap on a movie title and play the trailer by tapping on the > arrow.
What about if you use earphones?
Do you ear system sounds?  Go into Settings>Sounds>Touch Sounds where there is a checkbox on the right indicating whether Touch Sounds are on or off.
The speakers on the Slate aren't all that, but they do produce sound that's loud enough to listen to TV shows and movies.  If you can't get enough volume from them with other apps such as Play Music, there may be a hardware issue.
A couple other suggestions...try restarting it.  And back to earphones, try inserting an earphone plug all the way in, and removing it.
Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again

  • [SOLVED] Very low sound level after installing kernel26-2.6.30

I can't see this issue anywhere, so I'm sorry if I duplicate it here.
Since the upgrade to 2.6.30, the sound on my desktop system (VIA P4M890) is very low.  (I also have a Thinkpad with an Intel GM45 chipset, and this is working like a charm.)
I'm using a very simple ALSA configuration.  There is sound, but it is just almost inaudible.  I've set the highest possible level in alsamixer and when I turn up the volume to the maximum, I can hear sound.  But it is very weak and not very clear.  It's not related to hardware failure: rolling back to 2.6.29 fixes the problem.
Did anyone detect the same issue?

Alright mate, thanks.  Let me try that.
In fact, I didn't have that new channel, but I set the VIA DXS mixers to 100% (like described here: http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/Via) and now everything is working.

  • Sound is very low volume

I've done a search but can't seem to find any info re the sound volume on my bw G3. The sound out of both the front, built in speaker, and through the headphones, is very low volume output, almost but not quite muted. I've searched and adjusted the controls but to no avail. Could this be a hardware problem or software? There 'is' some movement when I adjust the volume slider but it takes the level from what would normally be 2 of 10 down to nothing. That is, there is no way for me to get the sound to levels that within normal limits. It's like the output is being blocked somehow but is still leaking through enough for me to make out the particular sound (song in this case) that I'm listening to.
Any help would be appreciated. It might not be worth puttiing any money into and I'd like to at least try.
    Michael

    Michael,
Sounds like you are ahead of the game on testing with headphones. External speakers would not make much of a difference without an amplifier.
"(is there another place to check sound output?)" If you had an AV output you could test sound out of that card. Finding a card might be cheaper than any repair bill and give you a definative answer on if their is a system software level problem.

  • Very low sound output

hi, I have just got a 2nd hand g3 dual usb ibook and its very nice.
except the sound is very very low, even wearing headphones i cannot follow spoken word etc

  • Very low sound volume on Skype, but OK on everything else

I know this subject has already been raised but I have tried all the suggestions on other posts on this topic, but still the volume of Skype is very low. I can only hear the conversation in a very quiet environment. The same low volume applies when I check the sound in Skype or do a test call. I am using an Acer laptop (built in speakers) and Windows Vista which is up to date. All sliders on the sound mixer are on 100% and the box Automatically Adjust Speaker Settings in Skype is unticked. I am using a recent version of Skype (installed about a month ago) The sound volume on iTunes and other applications is absolutely fine! Please keep explanations simple, I am not a computer expert... Thank you!

Skype was working then became very quiet.I am on Win7/64 Creative soundcard, Latest Skype
The solution (for me) was simple.
    Go to: Skype>Tools>Options>Audio Settings>Speakers
In my set up there is a dropdown to select what speakers Skype should use. It was using Digital Audio Interface There was also another option called "Speakers" I chose speakers and the volume returned to match the rest of the system
How it got set incorrectly is a mystery. I guess "Gargy Watts" must have set it, as my old mum used to say... or the Skype Fairy has been fiddling, as I have other things on my mind rather than fiddling with Skype settings and I'm the only one to use the PC!
I hope this helps some of you guys and gals
