Have you gone into system prefs nad made sure that the headphone port is set to audio out. And not audio in.
Also make sure that you are selecting built in speakers for your audio output.
If that does not fix it try doing a Pram reset.
    Shut your mac down.
    Press the startup button.
Hold down the following keys. Command Option P and R. Wait till you hear the chime 2 times. Then let go. See if that fixes it.

  • How come I can't get any sound out of my speakers

I  have a mid 2011 iMac...can't get sound to come out of the speakers... It was working earlier today... I checked to make sure everything was connected and not muted... Thank you in advance for any help out there...
    Shane

Go step by step and test.
    1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
        Highlight  Internal Speakers / Headphones
Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
    2. If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
Try this even if you don’t see the red light.
    3. Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14222
    4. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
        Choose the appropriate method.
    5. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
        Audio Devices window
        Side Bar
        Click the Built-in Output.
Make sure that no box is checked under “Mute”.
    6. System Preferences > Sound> Sound Effects
        Play sound effects through:
Select "Internal speakers" and then back to "Selected sound output device".
7.Launch iTunes and play a song through headphone and adjust the volume
       in  the Mini player.

If still no sound, try a hard reset, works sometimes.Disconnect all external devices first.
    1-remove power cord and battery
2-press power button for 30 seconds
3-reinstall only power cord for first startup.

  • HP HPE H8-1203 I am not getting any sound out to the speakers.

HP HPE H8-1203 It is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.  I have installed all audio drivers required. The only change is that I started getting bluescreens and could not log into windows so i reinstalled it. I can not find any information telling me where to put jumpers on the audio connector on the mother board to eliminate the front audio connector from being the issue.

    Hi Wild1,
As I mentioned there isn't a jumper setting for the front audio. I have included a link for the motherboard specifications and a link to your manual page that has some information on replacing some components.

  • IPod stopped playing sound out of speakers

I have an iPod touch 5th Gen which is around 3 years old and today it suddenly stopped playing sound out of the speakers. If i put headphones in sound plays fine out of them but as soon as I take them out no sound comes out even if there is something playing.
The speakers were working fine around 20-30 minutes before I realized they weren't working and my iPod has been doing nothing but sitting on my desk in that time. I tried restarting my iPod but this didn't fix the issue.

It can't be 3 years old since the 5G iPod was first introduced in Oct 2012
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

  • Sound still from internal speakers when connected to a bluetooth headset

I just got some new bluetooth headphones for Christmas. I have them paired to my Macbook Pro. The bluetooth menu shows them as connected and if I hold option and click on the sound menu bar item it shows my current output and input device to be my headphones.
When playing music it only comes out through my headphones. Some other applications (my IRC client and various others) also only produce sound through the headphones. However the Messages application and Skype application both produce there notification sounds out my internal speakers only.
I would assume that this isn't really related to by headphones but rather the operating system not directing the sound to the proper output correctly.
Has anyone experienced this? (been able to fix)
Also for reference my headphones are Sony MDR 10rbt.

I have the EXACT same issue. I've tried Googling for a solution every so often to no avail. Did you ever figure this out?
Edit: Actually, I think I found a solution. I installed Soundflower (http://cycling74.com/products/soundflower/) and set the 2ch and 64ch to my Bluetooth headphones. In Mac System Preferences > Sounds > Sound Effects tab, I also set "Play sound effects through:" to Soundflower (both the 2ch and the 64ch seemed to work). Did the same in the Output tab. Now it seems like every sound is being pushed through my Bluetooth headphones! Hope this helps.

  • Why no sound out of front headset port of MSI 975 MOBO?

A friend of mine has an MSI 975x motherboard and hooked up his cases molded front audio connector to the MOBO on JAUD1.
There is only one way to connect the connector since one pin hold is filled in (no hole there).
While he gets sound out of the speakers connected to back of case, he gets no sounds via the headphone connection on front of case. Ideas???
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Thanks George,
    It was unticked.
The way I got the headphone to work b4 your reply was to click on the rear panel headphone jack and there was a pop-up that allowed me to click on headphones.
If I tried to click on the Front Panel area within Audio I/O and clicked on headphone or anything down there-nothing happened.
I did get sound out of headphone via front panel now. And then I just shut off my speakers connected to the rear panel and I am okay.
Guess that is the best I can do unless I am missing something.
All I have is a standard 2 speaker system with a bass speaker on floor.
    Thanks, Peter

  • No sound out of my Xtremega

I've bought a brand-new computer not long ago and I'm having problems with my Xtremegamer ever since. I only get sounds out of my speakers at random times, not all the time. Sometimes there is no problem at all with the sound but almost all the time when I turn on my computer I can't hear anything. Everything is normal on Sound Devices and I have the right soundcard in there. My speakers are connected properly as well. I see no problems on my Device Manage and my onboard sound is disabled in the BIOS. When i connect my speakers to the onboard sound there's no problem at all. My drivers are also updated for the Xtremegamer and I've reinstalled it already. Any ideas before I call my manufacturer and replace the card?

Try plugging the headphone jack in and out of the headphone port half a dozen times or so. There's a tiny switch in there that may be stuck. Is there a red light showing in that port?
See this thread dealing with the same problem.

Thanks for the feedback Len, I am staggered by the quality loss. What would you say is the degredation from say watching mini dv from you camera on TV to a dvd encoded from iMovie/iDvd.
My finger in the air estimate in what I'm seeing, would be about 30% degredation. Do you think we are talking about the same thing/issue or are you seeing more on the scale of 5% degredation / loss of quality?
I'm mentioning these random numbers because I can't believe there wouldn't be a far greater outcry if it would be as high as I am seeing.
I'd expect these differences when the source in analog and it is being converted to digital, as I will have to do with my old Hi8 tapes, but mini DV is already in digital format.

  • Itunes only works with 2 speakers out of 4 speakers

I have a Soundblaster Audigy on a Pentium 4 with 2.4 Ghz. PC with 2 gigabytes of memory and can only get sound out of 2 speakers out of a 4.1 speaker system. I have tested all 4 speakers and they work fine. The speakers are Cambridge Soundworks. The audio output works fine in games with all 4 speakers and also works fine when playing music in Windows Media Player 10. I have contacted Creative who makes the Soundblaster Audigy and they say the problem is with Apple Itunes since I do not have problems with other applications. Please help and thanks in advance.

My guess is your setup is wrong. On my 5.1 system, I get sound from all the speakers, including the rear ones.
Open the Quicktime control panel, and click the Audio tab. Make sure the "Channels" pulldown matches your current speaker setup.
Also, in the "Sounds and Audio Devices" control panel, on the "Volume" tab, click the "Advanced" button under "Speaker Settings". Make sure the Speaker setup pulldown matches your current speaker setup.
