  • Chromebook 14 continuous buzzing sound through external speakers when powering on

I have this consistent buzzing sound when I power on my Chromebook.  Every time I power on, an electrical buzz through my external speakers (plugged in to the headphone outlet) remains until I completely unplug the speakers cable from the Chromebook, and then plug it back in.  Unplugging and plugging the cable back in always stops the noise.
Is there anything I can do to keep my external speakers plugged in without the buzzing noise starting when the Chromebook is powered up?

The speakers are made by Creative, Inspire t3000.
    1.  Yes, they are powered, so they are always plugged in to a wall outlet and I leave them on always.
    2.  Yes, they are normally the speakers for my desktop Windows system.  I've don't have this problem with that PC.
    3.  No, I don't hear the same buzzing sound from the Chromebook's built-in speakers.
    4.  No, I have not tried another set of speakers yet.  I don't have any others at the moment.
    5.  No, there was no software with the speakers when I bought them IIRC.
There is a loud buzzing thump noise made each time I unplug or plug in the speakers to the Chromebook even if it is powered off.  That's always been there.
The buzzing noise appears for about a second whenever I power down the Chromebook, that happens a second or two right after it is powered off.  Also, if I turn the volume control down for the speakers, the buzzing sound volume is lowered too. But if I turn the volume down to where I don't hear the buzzing noise, I can barely hear the sound.
Update: I noticed after fiddling with the speaker volume control that the buzzing sound goes away now after about 30 seconds.  It didn't just a few days ago.  And it never had the continuous buzzing sound at all when I first bought the chromebook and used these speakers with it periodically.
    Thanks.

  • No sound through external speakers on my iphone 4s but headphones work fine! When headphones unplugged volume button shows headphones not plugged in! Tried all solutions suggested here to no luck?!??

No sound through external speakers but fine through headphones! Button on left is not on mute and checked all settings and all fine! Tried all solutions here but no luck! Sound gone before I updated the software??

You may have debris in your headphone jack blocking the sensor.  Try blowing hard on the jack, and inserting/removing your headphones quickly multiple times to clear it.

My iPod Touch will not play through external speakers when it is docked.  It only plays through it's internal speaker.  All the other functions on the iPod can be controlled by the external speakers (volume, track, etc).  How do I fix this?

    I would try in oreder:
    - Resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restoring the iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • No Sound through external speakers during capture/ log

How do I get sound through my external speakers when logging or capturing using FCP7.0.1.
Other forums suggest creating a duplicate preset and then switching speakers on in the Quick time audio setting via an advanced button. But there is no advanced button in the quick time audio settings my software.
    Is there another setting elswhere?

Try clicking the preview button in the log and capture window, clip settings tab. Not sure if you can enable it while you're actually capturing and if you can, it's not recommended. In previous versions of fcp when you could enable this, it would occasionally cause problems with the audio of the captured file. Apparently since the native sampling rate for the mac is 44.1k, it needs to resample on the fly to monitor it, and this can cause problems. I used to get random clicking in the captured audio. Much better to figure out a way to monitor directly off the deck/camera.

  • HP laptops diverting sounds from external speakers when headphones connected

    Hi there,
The problem is reproduced in several cases, but the most annoying is the following:
    1. Headphones are connected to the laptop (I assume all sounds must go to the headphones, not to the speaker)
    2. Have skype (or googletalk or several other apps) run in background
    3. Have browser (chrome, firefox) open and youtube video is being showed
    4. Message comes to IM (skype, gtalk...) and when BEEP from the application is played - it is played not in headphones, but in external speakers!
I though the issue was with skype - but after some time I faced with the same problem in other apps - and it is not reproduced on other laptops (not HP).
The problem is being seen on several different HP laptops. Here is details of my laptop:
    HP ProBook 6550b WD700EA#ACB
    Windows7 Enterprise 64bit, SP1

Ok I have it Fixed on my computer.
In the control panel then sound there are 3 devices.
    AMD HDMI Output
    AMD High Definition Audio Device
    Speakers and Headphones
    IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
    Communications Headphones
    IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
What apears to happen is that as soon as a communications type program starts it devides the audio inbetween 2 mixers and seperated the headphone jack from the main audio card. As soon as I right clicked and disabled the "Communications Headphones" Then there is only one mixer that focres all applications to use the heaphone jack instead of the regular applications through the external speakers and communication applications to the headphone.
If for any reason you want to reactivate the "Communications Headphones" one you disable you will need to right click in the sound windows and select show disabled devices.

  • Morse code sound through external speakers

I'm getting a morse code sound through my external speakers every 1/2 hour or so on my MDD, never bothered me before. But all of a sudden I'm getting the "ring of death" telling me to re-start the computer. Any ideas?

Hi, have you blown the dust out lately?
Get Temperature Monitor to see if it's heat related...
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/12381/temperature-monitor
    And/or iStat Pro...
    http://www.islayer.com/apps/istatpro/
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • "Popping" sound through external speakers

I'm using the Apple Pro speakers through an iFire on my G5 iSight and have been getting a popping sound through the external speakers. This does not happen with the internal ones. This topic is mentioned over on the intel iMac discussions board and seems to be a widespread problem. It appears that many different brands of speakers are making the popping sounds. My external speakers work perfectly with my iBook. The external speakers sound much better than the internal ones. I hope there is a fix for this. Anyone else have this problem?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   20' iSight

Hi, on the older white intel iMacs we use to open&close Midi. Sometimes it worked sometimes not.
My intel iMac popped until I changed my older Logitech 2 speakers + Bass unit for a set of Bose..L

  • Music plays through external speakers when earphones plugged in

When earphones are plugged in sound plays from external speakers.  How can I correct this?

hmm.. there can be a few issues and a few solutions... if there has been any type of water damage to your ipod this may not be helpful.. a few reasons why the external speakers are playing while the ear phones are plugged in may be 1) your ipod touch may not recognize that the ear phones are plugged in... to fix this you may try a few things.. 1. plug in your headphones slowly... that may fix the issue if it still doesnt work try blowing in the headphone jack to eliminate and dust.
if you think that there is a hardware problem please take it to your nearest apple store.. they may be able to fix it or give you a new one

  • Mac OS 10.7.5 No sound through external speakers

I have had this iMac for about two years with the Bose Companion 20 external speakers hooked up. All of a sudden there is no sound through youtube. iTunes, speakers work fine. BTW
I also have a MacBook Pro that is about three months old and after a software update yesterday it also has no sound through the internal speakers on youtube only (that I have discovered).
But I am more concerned about the iMac, where these Bose speakers deliver excellent sound, and I am a classical music fan.
Any help? And please don't speak in code (I have no idea what "reset the SMC" means). Thank you!

Click on the YouTube speaker and turn up the Volume.

  • No sound through external Speakers?

I've had my 2.16ghz Macbook Pro from new and have never connected external speakers to it until now. When i do i get no sound, the laptop speakers work fine?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Is the volume turned up on both Mac and speakers?
Is Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Sound Output showing anything other than internal speakers?

  • No sound through external speakers using apple tv?!?!?

Hi, I just got apple tv a couple days ago as a present from a friend. As soon as I powered it up, and turned on home sharing, I was so excited. I wanted to try and play a music video. So I did and noticed there was no sound. So I thought easy fix...I tried every thing on my speakers. And it won't work, and maybe it's beacuse of my setup. I watch tv alot with this tv and I have it setup with the speakers so the sound will come out of the speakers and it works great. Im running it through a production mixer and the only thing it won't work on is apple tv....I mean there as to be a way. I love apple and all there products, but when I got this I was a little disappointed with the sound setup. Hopefully I will find the awnser soon!
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Does your mixer support digital audio.
Try adjusting the audio out and dolby digital settings.

  • No sound through external speakers from docking station

I've got an EliteBook 8460p running Windows 7 connected to a docking station.  I don't know what kind of docking station because there is no visible model number anywhere on it.
The internal speakers work fine, and the line out jack on the laptop itself works fine.  But when the laptop is docked, the line out jack from the docking station does not work.  All other peripherals work.  I even tried the line-in jack to see if they were mislabeled, but that wasn't the problem.
    Any help would be appreciated!

  • I get sound from external speakers, but not songs

    Hi,
I have a pair of external speakers plugged into the output jack of my PC. I get sound, even from iTunes Help which Dings when I enter search criteria. But when I play songs in iTunes, they're silent. Since I get other sound from them, I know the volume is okay and they're plugged in, etc. I've played with all 3 volume controls -- the ones on the speakers, the one at the lower left next to the clock and the one in iTunes itself. Still no music.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Richard

This worked for me as well. Great find! I have gigabyte ep45-ud3r motherboard and I was getting all sound through external speakers except itunes was playing the sound out of the digital output instead of the speakers. I could see this when I went to control panel > hardware & sound > manage audio devices. I did the repair as described above and now I have sound in iTunes.

  • Using Airport Express for External speakers and Apple TV.  When I'm on MAC computer adn using internet sound from Internet does not go through external speakers.  Instead it comes out of Mac computer speaker.  Why?

Using Airport Express for External speakers and Apple TV.  When I'm on MAC computer adn using internet sound from Internet does not go through external speakers.  Instead it comes out of Mac computer speaker.  Why?

As far as I know, the Airport Express only transmits sounds via Itunes. So every other sound (internet, but also incoming mail) will be coming out of your mac instead of your external speakers.
