No sound through my bose sounddock

I tried restoring and resetting but my nano still won't emit sound off my bose. i notice when i plug and uplug my headphones and redock it in the bose, it would start emitting sound but then 2 minutes later shuts out again. do i just have a malfuntional nano?

Hi,
I have seen quite a few similar issues here and a reset or reloading the iPod software has always fixed it. I would guess that you have a bad nano. Either take ot to your local Apple store or you can go to the suport section of this site and report it. They will send a box to get your nano fixed.
I think you should probably have no problem getting a replacement.
Good luck. Let us know how it works out.

  • Bose SoundDock Problem SOLVED!

I was getting no sound with my nano through the Bose SoundDock. I was able to solve this by doing a manual reset, as described here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302929
Simply press and hold menu+select for 5 or 6 seconds. Once the apple appears, your nano is reset. All your songs and playlists will still be there, but you may lose some customization. After I did this, I had no further problems, even when switching between the dock and headphones.

Yeah I forgot that's a problem and automatically did that to fix my problem docking with a speaker but forget it could be a solution. And just to note it just reboots the nano's OS it changes nothing but perhaps play count updates.

  • I have an apple i-touch.  I can't hear my music through my Bose headset in the past week???

I have an Apple i-touch.  During the past week or so I have not been able to hear music or sounds through my Bose head set.

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset the Bose unit
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. You will have to rejoin all wifi networks

Not all the sound docks accept both analogue and optical on the auxillary input - I don't think the portable ones does but may be wrong - check the user manual.
As I said earlier all the mini optical (min Toslink) adapter does it make the optical connector fit a smaller socket, it does not convert digital audio to analogue for an analogue only auxillary input.

  • After updating old Touch to 3.1.3, can no longer hear on Bose Sounddock. How can I update to an earlier version?

After updating old ipod touch to 3.1.3, can no longer hear it on old Bose Sounddock. How can I reverse-update to an older version? Or, is there something else I can do? I can hear the ipod on earbuds, but not on the sounddock.

All the monitoring is done through your sound device, not Audition. When you updated your PC, the sound device playback settings would have been reset. One of them includes input socket monitoring, and it's this that you need to reinstate. Since we don't know what sound device you are using, that's as much as we can tell you, except that if it's an internal device, you'll need to open the volume control options and alter it there. This varies between OS versions though...

  • Bose SoundDock and my daughter's birthday party!

Ack! So I've got the playlist all cued up for my daughter's birthday party this weekend. I have the iPod Touch 4G, and I was just about to buy a Bose SoundDock for the dance party. Now, I'm reading that the 4G won't sit, dock, and play in the SoundDock. OK, and I know there's the DockStubz thingy that will eventually solve my problem, but the party is Saturday. So . . . .
Should I buy the Bose SoundDock, play the iPod through an aux cable for the party, and then eventually get the DockStubz for the future? Help!!

I just get the Bose sound deck portable and it works with my 3rd. gen Itouch. It plays and it charges. Previous to that I had an altec lansin speaker system, (without an insert)but my either myself or my little niece broke the connector and now it doesn't play or charge. I don't want that to happen to the Bose. I missplace the insert that came with my itouch and I am trying to buy a new one but I am unable to find it; I only found inserts for the 2nd and 4th gen itouch. I went to the apple store, I ask one of the ladys: which of the two inserts will work with my itouch? and she went inside and got me the insert for the iphone 4. Still have no idea on which insert to get. I will stop at another apple store on my way home, may be someone there knows.
    Thanks

  • IPhone and Bose SoundDock

Has anyone tried using their iPhone with the Bose SoundDock?
I was wondering if it would work. I know my Belkin cable to use the iPod in the car to play music through the sound system (that I bought at the Apple store) will not work with my iPhone.

Yes, the Bose Sounddock is fully compatible with the iPhone.
This page outlines how to use the iPhone with the Sounddock:

  • Ipod No Longer Charging on Bose Sounddock

Recently my 5th gen. Ipod (ver 1.3 software) stopped charging on my gen 1 bosesound dock and my other earlier sound systems (JBL portable speakers, etc.), however it still will play music. It will charge on a new Ihome I recently bought... All my research has shown this problem to exist with the new Ipod touch models that are firewire charge only, but not with 5th Gen. I've tried it on other bose sounddocks and it won't charge on those either, however an non-updated gen 5 my family has still charges fine on all the devices. The only thing I can think of is that the new Itunes 8.2.1.6 update that I installed changed the charging operations for my Ipod (it stopped working just after I updated it and synched my Ipod). Can anyone confirm if this is the case and how to fix it?

  • Charging with Bose SoundDock [ipod 2g]

Ok, I know it doesnt work, and I am so ****** off about it you have no idea, paid $450 for it.
Its still in warranty, if i take it back, is there any chance they will replace it with the new Bose speakers that do work?

The Bose SoundDock II is suppose to work with the 2G iphones/itouch not the original/previous SoundDock.
I recently bought, via a very recognized online auction, a new and sealed Bose SoundDock. The package seal date was 10/2007! Bose had the SoundDock listed on their website literally about 2 weeks ago then it's gone now as the company finally phased out the older model.
At least I got a deal online as the original price was $399.
    Let's see...
I bought mine with "free shipping" for $195. If I bought it at retail, it would've cost $399 + 15 sales tax in my state = $414; I saved 53%!! Woo-Hoo!
Too bad it's now "outdated" and replaced my an updated, lower cost model! AUGHH!
    Oh, well!
The SoundDock works well with my older iPods (30Gb/60Gb/80Gb) and 1G/2G/3G nanos (Yeah, yeah! I'm building an iPod farm!. I won't be buying any newer iPods soon).
    Anyway...
Despite the limitations of the SoundDock of not having an auxilliary port or limited remote functions, it works well. Music and speech sound fine and clear! The speaker is meant for the "older" iPod versions (i.e. NOT the 2G iTouch/iPhone or 4G (chromatic) nano).
Bose's newer SoundDock II is meant to be backward compatible as well as compatible with the newer iPods! At least the price for the newer version dropped from $399 of the original to $299, though it's still pricey!!

  • Trying to update my ipod software so I can use my Bose Sounddock remote

    Hi,
I have a 30 GB 5th Gen ipod that is running Version 1.2, apparently I need version 2.2 to use my Bose Sounddock remote. After searching the Apple website to find a way to download version 2.2, Apple kept bringing me back to the latest itunes 7 download which is supposed to alert you to any ipod updates. So I have downloaded itunes 7 which tells me my ipod is updated with version 1.2. How can I get 2.2 on my ipod?
I notice other people are having similar problems with no solutions, thought I would give it another try, any solutions?
    Thanks,
    Jessica
    ibook G4   Mac OS X (10.4)

Version 2.2 of the software is designed for a different model of iPod, most likely the third generation models, and is older than your model of iPod. The current version of the iPod software for your model is version 1.21; if the remote doesn't work with this version, you probably can't use it with your iPod.
The version numbers are determined relative to the release of the original iPod for first through fourth generation full-size models, and relative to the release of the first iPod with that product name for other iPods, including the iPod photos.

  • Can I connect my MacBook Pro (with Bluetooth 2.1) to a Bose Sounddock 10

I own a 17 inch MacBook Pro (bought summer 2009) and am interested in buying a new Bose SoundDock 10 with the Bluetooth adapter. Before investing $750 in this sound system, I would like to learn if I can simply pair and connect the MacBook Pro and SoundDock 10 via Bluetooth and play my music from the MacBook Pro thru the SoundDock (such as iTunes and Pandora). I know I can do this from my Driod to the SoundDock. Thank you!

I just purchased the 10 and love it. I don't have the Bluetooth adapter, it was not available when I made my purchase. I was also wondering if my MBP would connect. I can see no reason why the two would not pair.

  • Tip for Bose SoundDock 10 Remote to play Aux input from Logic (or other)

Here is tip for live performance.
If you are using a Bose SoundDock 10 for playback in a live setting (where you want to minimize awkward public HiFi system tweaking) here is a tip.
The Bose SoundDock 10 plays plugged-in iPods (I use a Nano; 4th Generation) AND has a simple auxiliary in 1/8" port. But there is neither a volume nob NOR a volume meter for the Auxiliary signal.
So.. in the process of trying to create a predictable consistent output level
I experiment to see wether I should
    a) Count increment clicks from zero,
    b) Count increment-hold-seconds from zero,
    c) Use the iPod's volume level meter.
Wow! the iPod's level WILL set the auxiliary signal!! Yea!!
Problem: while toggling back and forth between
    1) iPod-input to SEE and SET level by sight, and
    2) Auxiliary-input to test the level by hearing,
you will inadvertently expose your set-up audience to load, undesired music.
This is because of a limitation of the Bose SoundDock remote control’s toggling behavior. You see, even if you PAUSE the undesired music before toggling from the iPod-input to the Auxiliary-Input, UPON TOGGLING BACK, to the iPod-input the Bose SoundDock remote AUTOMATICALLY DE-pauses. This, then subjects you and your unsuspecting audience to an annoying and distracting snippet of the least objectionable song you can remember to que up!
For that reason I suggest creating in Logic a "Sound of Silence" Song and exporting to iTunes. Thus, no iTunes library (or professional musician's iPod) is complete with out a 3 minutes of silence file for balance, check, and normalizing etc. Don't forget to attach a remember artwork.
You could also you this track on memorial day or at funerals.
    Good luck.

I greatly enjoyed Philip Norman's Lennon biography. He said Ono changed her mind about endorsing the book because (according to her) Norman "had been 'mean to John.' " Norman does say some candid things about Lennon's behavior as a parent.

  • Connecting ipod classic 160Gb to bose sounddock

the ipod 160Gb is so thin so doesn't sit in a bose sounddock securely, have to wedge something behind it to get proper connectivity......the plastic adapter doesn't hold it upright. Any ideas?

I assume that by "plastic adaptor" you mean the one that came with your iPod 160GB Classic. It doesn't hold the iPod upright, it will be leaning back slightly. You have inserted the "Dock Adaptor" the right way round I hope?
If you have the insert (Dock Adaptor) in the correct way and the iPod is leaning backwards slightly, but no sound comes out (unless youy force the iPod upright) it sounds as thought the connector in the dock is broken.
