No sound w/ kt4v

I've installed the drivers, windows reads the integrated card fine, I've tried three different working speakers, and i still get no sound from my kt4v. Thanks for your help.

did you open the "Sound Effects" program that should have installed with the cards drivers, its a taskbar icon that sits by your clock, blue with yellow lines in it.   If you click on that in the window that comes up you should be able to select which style of speakers, and which port the come out of.   Also try just going into the Sound window (click on the sound icon by your clock) and make sure nothing is muted
i know it sounds basic, but sometimes the solution is right under your nose!

    Thanks zd.

Try re-installing the VIA 4 in 1 drivers from www.via.com and later re-installing the AC97 drivers from www.cmedia.com.tw or www.realtek.com.tw

  • KT4V MS-6712 Odd sounds

Got this mobo a few weeks back now, everything seemed to be running fine.  Decided to change the heatsink/fan for something less noisey.
Now I have noticed a noise !!  Sounds like a off centre fan ! Checked all the fans in the system, nope they are all fine.  Then realised the noise only happens when I move the mouse(usb) or hotsync my palm(usb) or use the keyboard(ps2) !
The noise is not coming from the soundcard, it appears to from the mobo itself !
Anyone come across this before ?

It's probably the PSU, some of my systems have the same But you only hear it with very silent systems
With my VIA EPIA-800 i hear it when i use my scroll-wheel

I have recently formatted my hard drives and installed MS Windows XP Pro +SP1 and also installed a new case.
Soon as i turned it on the sound didnt work.
I then tried almost everything inside windows to try to get the sound drivers working but to no success...
I have installed loads of different drivers - AC 97 Audio ones
Tried different speakers and headphones but it still doesnt work
Could it be something on the motherboard as there are two wires hanging around???

  • KT4V OnBoard sound (ac97)

    Hi all,
I've been trying to install a hercules fortissimo3 soundcard in a KT4V Mobo.
I disable the onboard sound in the bios and try to install the F3 card but the puter locks up. When I reboot into safe mode I see that windows has installed gobs of stuff into Sound, Video and game controllers in Device Manager.
I'm assuming that the onboard sound is causing a conflict. Is there a jumper to disable this? Or is it done strictly through the BIOS?
If anyone has any other ideas or suggestions, I would love to hear them...
                                              Thanks!
                                                        Mike

the sound disables by the BIOS alone... try putting your Sound Card in slot 4 and specify IRQ 4. Sounds like you have a hardware conflict.

  • KT4V onboard sound problems (alot)

    hello,
just recieved a KT4V MSI motherboard today, installed it ok, turned on onbaord sound, downloaded latest onboard drivers and configured it for 4 speakers and a microphone socket. I open half life up and only the front 2 speakers work, i exit HL and look at the settings and its changed it back to 2 channels (although it still says 4 channel it changes rear to line in) Operation Flashpoint also only runs on 2 speakers, i know both these games support surround sound as i used to have a SBlive5.1 which worked ok with them.
Also when playing music the rear speakers work but sound low quality.
Please please help me with this
    thank you
    tim

I have the same problem with my KT4VL. The front 2 speakers are loud as normal, but the rear speakers make almost no noise. I have a 4.1 ch speaker system and use the AC97 onboard in 4 ch mode(with the software set to convert the Line in port to rear). The subwoofer is fine no matter what, just the rear. When the MOBO is set to 2 ch stereo, sound comes from all speakers but the surround is lost as it just splites the stereo. I do not have a clue as to solve the problem and want to very much.
This is my thread on the subject so far:  http://www.msi.com.tw/program/service/forum/index.php?threadid=19536&boardid=13&styleid=1&sid=bf5e069916a52f2877c4dc62f0685329&page=1#8
Maybe a driver problem but I have the lastest. Hope the MSI people can help us on this. Welcome to the MSI forums!

  • MSI KT4V-L sound not working!

    Hey all
I've been trying for the last day to get my sound to start working out of my MSI KT4V-L motherboard to no avail.  I have all the latest drivers installed, all of the volume sliders at max, all of the settings I can think of set correct....and I know the culprit is not the speakers, I tesed them with my discman, and they worked just fine.  What can I do?

Cool, glad you got it going
And thanks for posting back to let us know

  • KT4V Sound Issue

Hey, for some reason (and I dont know why) my sound took a crap on me right in the middle of doing completely nothing on my pc. I get no sound what so ever. I restarted, shut down and booted again, reinstalled the driver, tried different speakers, and nothing helped. Although, when I install the drivers and/or roll them back I get sound until I reboot, where as they go bad again. Any ideas on what's going on?

I uninstalled the onboard hardware in my Device Manager and restarted and it started up working. Thanks! If, however, I start having problems again I'll come back here....thanks again

  • KT4V onboard sound issues

Well the sound crackles and stuff. The sound is great but every now and then it crackles down just like theres a glitch i some wire or somtn (but it isnt ive checked). Ive reinstalled IDE controllers, Ive updated chipset, audio drivers and set win xp to fit my soundsettings.. but still.. real pain when listening to MP3s.  :(
    my system is:
    AMD XP 2100 Thoroughbred
    KTV4 Mobo
    256 pc2700 ddr ram
    Hercules 8500le 64mb graphics
    IBM 60Gb Hdd
    BTC cd/cdrw
    Samsung DVD sd 608

argh.. i thought 300W would be sufficent.. or is it just that my psu sucks? but then again my system is not under heavy graphic or hdd process at the moment but it still acts up..

  • KT4V-L - onboard sound problems, any suggestions what could cause this

Board and system (winXP and xp2400+) set up fine.  The only problem is with the sound. Every now and then i get a horrible screeching sound out of the speakers (a bit like feedback).
This is only intermittant, last night it ran for 4.5 hours and only 'screeched' once for about 5 seconds.  It doesn't seem to be the speaker (it happens on different ones) or the speaker connections (i wiggle them around but can't reproduce the noise).
At one point they were bad so i closed down and whilst it shut down the noises actually increased.
Are there known problems with the onboard AC97 sound.
Can the PC-Cillin cause sound problems?  Any suggestions greatly appreciated as the answer i got is to try a soundcard  - which i hope will fix it.
    thanks
    Doc

    thanks Asaf
to be honest i can't recall - i have ahd a mic attached but don't think it was everytime i had the noise
in any event - surely it still shouldn't make a noise like that anyway
just got a cheap (£4) Soundblaster 128 so will try that
    cheers

  • Big Problem with KT4V. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

    Hello ewerybody.
At first I describe you my confiugaration.
    KT4V Mainbord
    AthlonXP 1700+
    256MB DDR 333
    Segate Barracuda 20GB
    CD-ROM LG 52X
    Power Supply 230V
    WIN 98SE
    And now the problem.
It appears when the procesor is set to XP 1700+. After the temerature of processor rise obove 55 C my computer is shutdown automaticly even if the bios option "critical CPU themerature" is disabled. When it happens something like alarm siren goes off. It is one high and one low sound.
Another big problem is dramaticaly low ( even 20% - after one hour work ) "system resources". I dont know if it is call like that in english so it is START->Settings->Control Panel->System->"performance".
    Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

First thing you might want to do is get a new PSU. Anything under 300W is pretty much going to make for an unstable system for any processor like yours. AMD recommends(if I remember correctly) 300W or better and also read up on this sticky, I think it will help you out.
