I would use this driver..
Conexant Audio Driver for Windows Vista
In Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) expand Sound, video and game controllers. Do you see the Conexant audio in there?

  • No sound under Vista on Satelite U300 - waranty question?

    Hi
I have some big problems with sound. I tried a lot of solution, but nothing. So, this is the problem...I have no sound under Vista.
    1. Sound (volume) icon showing, that "no audio output device is installed".
    2. I checked System tolls-system information, under _Components - Sound device_ - nothing, no info. _Components - problem devices_ - also nothing. No problem device at all.
    3. In device manager - hardware with Sound, video and game controllers - missing. Even then Im checking all other devices, such System devices, or unknown device, it's also nothing. No devices even with yellow question mark. Its seemed like systems run ok.
    Very Strange.
Of course u can say, maybe I didn't install sound drivers, but drivers are installed. Download a newest driver from Realtek.
But...sometimes, I have sound. Usually sound is missing. Such thing like restart doesn't help.
One more thing, then I have sound (sometimes it happens), the sound can disappear during my work with computer.
Maybe it's warranty question? I should go to repair centre?

I tried to install Vista using recovery image about 10 times. It doesn't help. Even after that it shows me same mesage. Download newest drivers from realtek, and still nothing. The main thing, that confusing me, it is device manager. No sound hardware at all. It's seems like everything working ok. Even system information show that i dont have installed sound.

  • No sound under Vista

I can't seem to get sound under Vista. Well, I get sound when I select USB headset, but I can't get my iMac's built-in speakers to be recognised. Help!

It would help if you posted under the appropriate forum, and more details about what you are running to get Vista.
First off, your profile says iBook, but you are talking about an iMac.
Vista can't run very well if at all on an iBook, since iBooks only support emulators and won't support Boot Camp at all. The iMac, if it is an Intel Core iMac, will run Boot Camp. So are you running this under Boot Camp on an iMac Intel Core Mac?

  • P6N SLI Plat and realtek onboard sound in vista ?

Ok for everybody who's running the onboard sound in vista I have a question for you.  In your realtek settings do you have a multiband eq to adjust settings or is everything just a preset to choose from?  I dl'd the latest realtek drivers 1.67 and no multiband eq, only thing is presets that you must pick from to shape sound.  I'm looking for a multiband eq so I can adjust each frequency myself.  Thanks.

Everything is just a preset to choose from. I could not find an EQ anywhere. I was actually able to get some nice sound out of the onboard chip. First of all I put a check in "speaker fill". This alone will get sound in all speakers on a surround sound system. Second, I went into "sound effects" and "Room", and then selected "live". Again, this alone will give you sound in all speakers. And third, I set up "room correction" according to my speaker layout. All these combined have produced beautiful sound through my Z680 sound system. Is it true surround sound? I have no idea, but I like it.

  • No digital sound after Vista upgrade on Audigy Platinum

I finally got around to upgrading my Media Center PC from Win XP to Win Vista Ultimate x64. Following the upgrade and after installing the latest official drivers for my Audigy Platinum, I am unable to get any sound when using the digital out on the sound card. I also made sure to change the Audio Console setting to use SPDIF. If I switch to normal line out, it works fine and digital out worked fine on Win XP.
I tried searching but only came up with threads pertaining to the X-Fi and Audigy 2.
Is there something else Im missing to get this working in Vista?
    Thanks a bunch!!

    Hi there-
I just finally had the chance to install these drivers and I still have no sound coming out when I connect to the digital out of my Audigy card. Again, Ive verified the Audio console has been changed to SPDIF output and still nothing.
Is there something Im missing here? Are there other settings I need to change / set in Vista to get this working? This is very frustrating that this worked without issue in XP and I really dont want to have to go back to it.
    Any help is much appreciated!!

  • Macbook Pro cracking sound on Vista x86

    Hello,
In run Mac OS X 10.5.6 and Vista Business x86 via Bootcamp. However, the sound output while running Vista is cracking and slightly hissing every ~20 seconds.
Does anybody know the correct sound settings of the internal sound card (e.g. 24-Bit/48000HZ) is? Or is it just an unresolved sound driver issue?
    Greetings

I just found out that the sound chip is a Realtek ALC885.
    Chip Specs here:
    http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/productsView.aspx?Langid=1&PFid=28&Level=5&Co nn=4&ProdID=138
Regarding the sound sound settings, there is a Realtek Audio Manager accessible through Start>Control Panel>Realtek HD Audio Manager.
What worked for me, was, I set the Default Format in Start>Control Panel>Sound>Speaker Properties>Default Format to the same setting as in the Realtek Audio Manager and I also deactivated the "Exclusive Mode" in said window.

  • 5.1 sound in Vist

I need an external usb sound card that will do 5. surround in Vista 32 bit. Which creative products would work for me? Analog 5. is fine, digital spdif optional.
How about the USB SoundBlaster Li've! 24-Bit External? It's cheap, would it work for me? I see people are complaining about drivers for Vista so I just want to make sure before I spend my money.

Audigy 2NX or Audigy 2ZS Video Editor will work -even tough there is no Vista support for the Video part of the Audgy 2 ZS Video Editor (yet I hope!).Message Edited by Daedalus3 on 03-9-200708:52 AM

  • No audio / No sound following Vista SP2 install on HP DV4 (HP Pavillion Entertainment PC)

Solution: I struggled with this problem (no audio) for 4 days. After installing Vista SP2, all sound stopped coming from my HP DV4 laptop. (HP Pavillion Entertainment PC).  I checked all settings, unloaded and reloaded SP2, reloaded all sound drivers (IDT) and tried the Microsoft "Fix It"... 50131. Nothing worked. Very frustrating. I happen to notice that the driver being loaded by the MS program was IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Driver 6.10.6209.0. I started to suspect this most recent driver was either loaded with SP2 or was incompatible with it. I noticed the HP Support web-site had a list of drivers specific to my machine. The sound driver was listed as IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Driver 6.10.6087.0, which appears to be an older version. I downloaded this driver, applied it, restarted the machine and voila!
You can find the codec here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-69143-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&...
                GK -- Fremont, Ca

This often occurs when you plug in an HDMI device, on my machine.  Try manually setting the playback device:
Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar.
    Select Playback Devices.
Right-click the audio device you want (i.e. Speakers)
    Select Set as default device.
If this does not work, try logging in with an account that has administrative access.  I discovered the wireless network can not be enabled by a non-administrative account, when it is disabled while logged in as an administrator.  You have to go back to the admin account, enable wireless, and then log back to the other account.
Avoid updating your driver, unless the device no longer functions.

  • Satellite M60-BK3: Cannot get sound after Vista installation

    Hi,
I've installed Windows Vista Ultimate Edition (32bits) on my Toshiba Satellite M60-BK3, but I can't get any sound either the correct video settings. I've searched on the internet and it seems that this Satellite family is not supported to be upgraded to Windows Vista :S
Does anyone have any idea of how can I get these drivers in order to make my laptop work fine with Vista??
    Thank you.
    Rodrigo

    Hi
This Satellite M60-BK3 model is not known to me. Where did you purchase it???
Try to install a hardware diagnostic tool to find out what sound chip and graphic card this notebook supports.
Then you could download the drivers from part manufacturer site.

  • Low sound in vista

hi guys i have just reinstalled vista, and now i installed all the stuff of mr. daniel_k for audigy 2 zs but the sound is too low, much lower than before - 50% or more ( i had my zs unrecognized once by vista but before reinstalling vista), now i must put everything (vol in my speaker and in windows) in maximum to have the normal vol. I replug the card but still can't solve it.help me plz - i have never got this problem b4

It's a good idea to upgrade your BIOS with the latest avaliable from your motherboard vendor. Then you should optimize your BIOS for improved audio quality:
-Increase VGA Shared Memory Size if you are using an onboard graphics card.
-Set AGP Aperture Size (MB) to half of the system's RAM or lower.
    -Toggle Peer Concurrency.
    -Toggle Spread Spectrum Control
    -Toggle Memory Hole
-Enable AGP Fast Writes if your graphics card supports it.
-Change PCI Latency Timer ( starting with 32).
-Invoke dual-channel memory mode on the motherboard. Systems that are not configured in dual-channel mode can experience crackling during games. For more information about invoking dual-channel mode, please refer to your motherboard manufacturer.
-Ensure that the SATA hard dri've is not conflicting with PCI memory resources. Changing to a different controller may help.
    To fix your problem:
Try to disable onboard audio in your computer's BIOS, then unplug your card from the PCI slot1. After then, uninstall your onboard audio drivers, and do a cleansweep for your audigy drivers too.
Follow these steps for driver uninstallation:
    1. Open Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager - browse Sound, video and game controllers - right click on Creative SB Audigy 2 - Uninstall - in the new window, select "Delete driver software for this device" then click OK
    2. In Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs also uninstall all Creative software (including Audio Console)
    3. Browse to the C:\Temp and C:\Windows\TEMP (if it exists) folders. All files and folders in the temp folder need to be either deleted or moved to a new folder.
    4. Browse to Program Files, Creative and delete the Sound Blaster Folder. If a file won't delete, right click on the file, click Properties and clear all the Attributes. The file should then be able to be deleted.5. Restart your computer in safe mode, and delete the remaining files and clean your registry with Driver Sweeper.
    5. Empty the Recycle Bin and shut down your PC.After this, choose an other PCI slot for the card. If it's possible, put your card to the farthest slot relati've to your graphics card. After you turn on your computer, cancel the Windows hardware recognition, and install?either driver you want (I recommend you to use the officially avaliable?2.2.0002 driver to fix your volume?problems?till the 2.8.0000. It will come in late July or early August.) After the driver installation, set Full Range speakers in Vista's speaker configuration, and do the speaker test. Then set 2.0 settings, and you're done.
Good luck, and don't hesitate to post any questions if you need further assistance.

  • Qosmio F30-112: Cannot install Virtual Sound for Vista

Installed Windows Vista, downloaded sigma sound drivers ver. 6.10.5462.0 and installed them, then tried to install Virtual Sound and got message "Toshiba Virtual Sound does not support your computer." Where is the problem?

Toshiba European driver page for Vista gives me this (http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/vista_drivers.jsp?macId=&mode=allMachines&userOS=& action=search&selCategory=2&selFamily=381&selSerie s=170&selProduct=652&selOS=26&selType=all&country= all&language=13&search=).
Virtual sound is listed there. I tried to install Virtual sound ver. 10317, 6.10.5462.0 is the version of Sound driver.

  • FEAR crappy sound in vista xfi fatali

I have the latest xfi driver & alchemy, but the sound in FEAR is really crappy, with distortions & sound skipping & the level is really low.Anyone know how to fix this Are there any alternate 3rd party drivers I can use Any help would be great ;( vista 32 ultimatecore 2 duo E6600asus striker extreme moboasus 8800 gtxxfi fatality2gb 667raptor

The distortion/skipping (at least in part) is just a setting in ALchemy that you need to change. Im fairly sure I had to add FEAR manually to ALchemy to install it in the first place, but I did so after doing a manual install quite some time ago where I played around with the settings. In your FEAR directory, open up the file called "dsound.ini" (double-clicking it should open it in Notepad automatically). Change the value for "Duration" from 25 to 0 (the line should now read "Duration=0"). That should solve most the stuttering, unless youve got problems akin to many other users of these forums, which I dont personally have.
If the dsound.ini file is not in the directory than ALchemy has not been properly installed for FEAR - you may need to manually install it (just add it to ALchemy - settings should be 4 Buffers, 0 Duration, 28 Maximum Voice Count, and you can leave Direct Music enabled). Interesting to note that Half-Life 2 requires a similar setting, as do some other games, so if youre having problems elsewhere it might be worth checking this setting for them as well (so far the only values Ive had to use are 25 and 0).
As for the volume levels, thats just FEAR in my experience. Speech was relatively quiet on XP Pro with an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro, and its still relatively quiet under Vista x64 Ultimate with an X-Fi Fatalty.

  • Whining sound in Vista

I've had this problem for a while, and it's bad enough that I uninstalled Windows and recently started using it again.
Anyways, I'm using a regular white Macbook, bought about a year ago, maybe like 10 months. If I just install Vista and do nothing the computer emits a sound, but it's not too bad. After I download and install all the latest updates though, it becomes REALLY high pitched and annoying. It almost starts causing headaches.
It comes from roughly the upper left part of the keyboard. I get sounds from the same spots while running in Mac OS, but they're not high pitched and you need to practically put your ear on the keyboard just to hear it.
Any idea what causes it and what can make it stop? I've searched google a bit and I mostly read about thing pertaining just to Macbook Pros, and they suggest plugging in the power cord and dimming the screen.
Running 32 bit Vista with service pack 2 if that's important. Also sorry if this is the wrong forum, looks like the most appropriate to me.

yeah, people are becoming a bit selfish with computers now...then again, i can't blame them...but once the Core 2 Duos start being used, the whine will decrease...you see: Lower power usage ->cooler processors->fans more at idle->less noise
