No sound was recorded when recording videos on iPhone 4

Hi, my iPhone can't record sound when recording video, but the voice memo app still works fine. Any ideas?
(It plays some "weeeee" sounds insteaad)

Thanks for your reply . I've removed the cover when doing both tests I mentioned. The earphone I used is at good condition and I don't see any problem with it. I've also reinstalled the iOS as your instruction, but still no luck, the video sound still has noise.
I've decided to export the video file to my PC to see if I can hear sound better or not, as it's hard to hear and sound except noise with the external speaker on my iPhone even at maximum volume. On my PC I had to increased playback volume to 100%, set volume booster to 300% and applied noise reduction plugin (I use Media Player Classic on Windows 7) to get an acceptable sound (still noise but better than the original). If I don't boost the volume, it's hard to hear anything. I don't expect it to be crystal clear like the voice memo (using the bottom mic), but too much noise like this is really bad.
So I think it appears to be a hardware-related problem. I will later consider to send it to a phone repair shop or keep it and accept this bad video sound problem . In Vietnam we just have Apple authorized resellers but don't have any official Apple repair shops, that's why I'm still confused as I don't really trust those phone repair shops to handle my iPhone. Anyway, thanks again for your comment .
P.S: it maybe a little off-topic, but do you know any video recording app that using the bottom mic ?

No sound in 'phones when recording

I am using SBLive! and inputting instruments through the line in 2/mic in 2 socket on the break out box. When recording either with Magix, Goldwave or Windows Recorder it records fine but I cannot monitor the input during recording, either through 'phones or speakers. I checked all the Volume Contol and mixer settings and they all seem fine. I was able to do this some while ago without any problem, but cannot think of anything I have do to change any settings.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hey I was really dissapointed to hear that nobody replied cause i was having the same trouble so see of this works! Go to playback/record in the top bar and then select recording options "R" (the second one of the same name and then select playback while recording! That's it but do they tell you this no! So annoying! Hope this helps :-)

Maybe you have muted your iPad. The button above the volume up and down on the upper right hand side can either be programmed to Mute or Lock Orientation. See if you have it programmed to Mute.
Also check control center. On your home page, swipe up from the bottom of your iPad screen and control center opens. There's a sound icon in a circle, which could be on. Tap it to see if you're muted there.

How to record non-HD videos on iPhone.

I would like to record a lengthy video and save up my free space by not recording 1080/720p video. Is this possible? Any suggested apps that can do this maybe? Sa record videos on VGA quality only?

No audio when shooting video on iPhone 6

Since getting my iPhone 6+ I've shot 3 videos, only one that actually played audio back, but was so muffled you had to have the phone up to your ear to hear it. Every time I take a video I'm a little more than arms length away from who I am filming, so I know it's not that I'm too far away.
Anyone else having similar problems?

From your post I see you're experiencing issues with the audio on your recorded videos. I'd like you to make sure that when you shoot a video that you're not covering the microphone when recording, either with your hand or a case, and follow the directions in the article below.
Resolution
Test the microphone
To find out if there is an issue with the microphone itself—and not the app you're using or your cellular connection—test the microphone with the built-in Voice Memos app. Speak into the microphone and then play back the recording. You should be able to hear your voice clearly.
Fix common issues
Follow these steps, testing after each with Voice Memos.
Unplug anything plugged into the headset jack.
If you're on a call and holding your phone next to your ear, speak into the microphone and make sure you don't block it with your fingers or shoulder.
If you're using a screen protector or case that covers the microphone, remove it. Clear any debris from the microphones.
Restart your device.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
If you've tried these steps and people still can't hear you well on calls, contact Apple Support.

you would probably get better help if you describe your problem a little better, but check your settings in itunes and see if 'automatically open itunes when iphone is connected' is checked, and also if you have itunes set to sync automatically or manually.

Mini DV Camcorder Has Sound Drop off When Recording to Tape

I'm wondering what my correct a problem with a camcorder... audio seems to stop recording after 45-50 min. Model PV-DV530. Would setting to NTSC Firewire Basic.

Unless you are using a Canon camcorder, you probably should be using DV-NTSC Firewire - not Basic.
Have you fully rendered the project before output?
Have you done an "audio mixdown" (look it up) before output?
Do you have the material on a non-system drive? Is that drive less than 75% full?
If these things don't work, try exporting a self-contained version of the timeline, import that back into the project, put it in it's own sequence then send that out to tape.

I'm using motu 896mk3 to record my drums. any tips to not make them sound like i'm in a cave. also sounds this way when recording guitar tracks. the overall sound is "bassy". thought maybe a setting or something else to brighten up the mix?

No sound on clips when importing video in Final Cut Pro X

I recently got a new Mac Pro tower and installed Final Cut Pro X in it. I have imported 4K media into my library and since the footage was located in the same drive, I left the files in place and created proxy media to make the editing easier and faster. But every time I try to do a batch import, the video files appear to have no audio...the audio is missing within Final Cut Pro X.
Yet, when I look into the library files (in the finder, not through Final Cut) and find the transcoded proxy files, they do have audio.
I have had to delete the files from Final Cut, then re-imported them either one at a time or in batches of no more than five shots a a time. Very cumbersom and a waste of time.
Is there a fix for this?

Hi Russ. The video and audio were originally recorded with a Sony NEX FS700 R camera with its 4K Raw being transcoded to 4K Apple ProRes HQ by an Odyssey 7Q recorder.

Shape selection operation is not recorded when recording a macro

in Word 2013, via "record macro" tools, i am writing a macro which performs the following tasks for me:
1- when i select a word, it changes the font size & color & cuts the word
2-inserts a quick part object called "MyRectangle" in the location of cut word ( i had created a customized rectangle shape & i had saved it as an Auto-text for later use)
3- clicks on that Auto-text ( that Auto-text be selected)
4- paste that word into Auto-text (Add the text inside that object)
all above steps are done fine except step 3. the problem is when i start record macro, then it's not possible to select that rectangle shape ( i mean i left click on that rectangle but noting happens & it's not selected), so i can't paste that word into
that shape.
during record macro operation, can't we select shapes? if no, so what code i can write inside the macro for selection of that shape?

Sound automatically Reduced when another video app is playing. (using Windows 8.1)

Hi , first of all If my laptop is inaproppriate here, then you can move this thread to anywhere else suitable. I am using the Lenovo G40-70 laptop that runs on the Windows 8.1 OS bought in March 2014 in a singapore Lenovo store.
When i open an app like VLC or Twitch.tv or playing more than 3 youtube videos simultaneously the sound seems to further decrease for one of the app. When i play only one VLC or one youtube tab the sound seems to go normal. What i want is for the sound to go normal whenever i am playing something as a background and not to automatically quiet it down.
My purpose for this is because my work involves sounds and i want to listen to music while i am working.
Firstly the only close result i've searched is to right click speakers->Playback Devices-> Clicking the Communications Tab-> Do nothing
But it still the same old automatic sound reducing.
I searched everywhere else but i got no luck and now I'm thinking it could be a problem in my laptop.

When you go to the Playback devices.
Under Playback TAB highlight your Sound card and click on properties
You should have another windows which have an Advanced Tab.
Open That and try disabling these two settings and then hit apply.

Display won't sleep when converting video to iphone in itunes

Whenever I convert video files to iphone under the advanced menu in itunes, my display wont sleep and the screensaver will not come on. I tried using the hot corners and the display sleeps for a few seconds and them awakens. Since conversions can take quite a while, is there any alternate method to sleep or temporarily shut off the display. I have also tried the sleep display widget and it does nothing for me.

if it's still within 12 months hardware warranty call apple and have tech support diagnose the fault. If it turns out to be hardware related -which mine was- SEND IT BACK. IF it's hardware, there's almost zip you can do except wait longer and get closer to the end of your warranty.

was hardware related and I ended getting a refund. Admittedly I have had a REALLY duff machine and the sleep issue was the last in a run of hardware malfunctions but if I never pursued Apple regarding a seemingly innocuous issue I would have come to the end of my warranty and been stuck with it. Now I have my money back - enough to buy a 17" C2D with a 200GB HD for less than I bought the original 15 in CD for. If it's broken get it fixed.

iTunes shuts down when trying to sync videos on my iPhone 3gs. Music syncs fine but when videos try and sync iTunes crashes ant suggestions?

When my new 80GB iPod attempts to sync my Outlook contacts information, Outlook opens, and then I get the "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close" screen and iTunes shuts down.
hmmmm. in the "further information" link, is there a particular compenent being identified as causing the crash? if so, what is it called?

Ipad Air drops wifi when streaming videos, browsing. iPhone 4S fine

I recently bought an ipad air.
I have been experiencing numerous problems regarding the wifi connection and I have contacted apple support twice about it but I thought I'd ask here before returning my device for a refund.
Basically, ipad air is behaving inferior to all my other apple devices.
Problems:
Wifi drops randomly and sometimes it comes back by relaunching the application (e.g. Safari) or sometimes I have to turn of wifi off and on again to restore connection. This especially happens when I watch streaming videos either on YouTube app or safari.
At the same time when I perform speedtests ipad air gives always mixed results most of the time being slower than my other devices (iPhone 4S , iPhone 3GS, MacBook Pro 2011).
What I have tried Already:
Resetting the network settings
Restarting the ipad and the router (bt hub5)
Switching between 2.4 and 5 ghz networks
The most important thing is that all my other devices , my iPhone 4S , my iPhone 3GS and my MacBook Pro work great in every network where the ipad air seems to either give poor performance or drop the connection randomly.
I would be happy to know if there is an issue with ipad airs that is going to be resolved with an upcoming OS update, I am patient. It would save me the hassle of returning the ipad for a refund.

If you have not yet done so, I recommend backing up your iPad Air and restoring the device as new:

After the device is restored and updated to the latest version of iOS 7, test the Wi-Fi connection with Safari or another app before restoring a backup of your data.
