No Sound When Exporting a DVd

I am using Adobe Premiere CS4  and when I try to export a DVD to a file to be used either on Easy Worship or any other program I have no sound.  CAn you help?

Jeff,
Sorry for the confusion.  I am wanting to import into to Easy Worship. The computer I am using for Easy Worship is a little old.  It is Windows XP Pro,  2.3 GHz and 2 GB of Ram.  When I export a Mpeg2 file I have to compress the video down to 540 x 320 and it is a little pixel. If I go over 540 then the sound becomes really distorted.   When I export is as a DVD-MPEg the video quality is a lot clearer.  Takes a bit longer to export as well.
If it is not to much to ask.  How to I export this file into Easy Worship so that it will look great.  If I export a DVD how  do I combine the Video and Audio so that I can just transfer it on a flash drive rather than DVD.
Once again,  I am using a MAc Snow Leopard.  3.06 GHz INtel Core 2 dual  4 GB Ram  500 Gig Hard Drive.

    @Harm,
"Pear-shaped" (or sometimes "fruit-shaped") is a euphemism meaning that the effort has gone awry; it was a mess.
    @John,
Export to DVD is a PPro 2.0 function; in CS3 it is now Export to Encore. Is that what you meant?
First thing is to check the field orders of your source material and of your export settings. Don't invert them, and don't deinterlace interlaced footage.
Perhaps a short list of the settings you have tried (and why you chose those settings) would help us help you.

  • No sound when playing a DVD...

I replaced my DVD ROM with an HP dvd 1040i DVD R/RW and there is no sound when playing a DVD? I loaded the Nero 7 essentials software that came with it. My system is a HP compac dc7600 Small Form Factor. I am running Windows XP-Pro and IE8.

    Hi:
    Interesting...
Does your onboard audio work when listening to music files or playing a video on the internet?
If you have sound normally but not thru the DVD player, try this free DVD playing software. I use it all the time. See if that fixes the audio problem.

  • Why don't I get any sound when export from imovie to quicktime DVD

Help. I am a new imovie user so hope not being stupid. am using G4 powerbook with OS X 10.3.9. imovie 3.0.3 and quick time 7.1.2. Have made 2 films so far - first exported fine into quicktime with sound. Second exports but without any sound. This film is 5 mins long. It plays fine in imovie, and if exported as low quality for web also records sound (when 188 kg), but big version for DVD gives the problem. thanks for any advice. Sue

    Hi Sue: (Nice name)
    Welcome to discussions!
It may be that your quicktime is not getting along well with you OS X version...try to revert back to another version of quicktime (BUT- I don't know if this will work with your current QuickTime though)

  • Common No Sound when exporting to all video formats.

I am trying to import a video into FlashPro8. I had a wmv(with sound) file and bought QPro in an attempt to convert to flv. No luck, won't even allow me to open the file....Nice, Then told to get flip4mac. Done! File now opens but no luck... all exports have no sound. Then I ask the client for MPG file instead of troublesome WMV format. Still no sound. Now I have no option to encode the sound at all in any format with this mpg file when exporting. I export to MOV ...no sound. Is there a simple answer to this issue without jargon that i won't understand?

MPEG won't export with sound from QT at all. You can, however, export MPEG 1 and 2 from MPEG Streamclip, to all QT formats.
Flip4Mac in the non-free version(s) will allow opening of WMV then export to QT from WMV format. The free one won't.
Toast 7 will take a lot of formats and export to MPEG 1 via the make VCD menu or MPEG-2 via the make Video DVD menu. You make the VCD or DVD then mount a disk image and rip the files - in the case of VCD the AVSEQ##.DAT file is a MPEG-1 and you can just rename it.

  • No sound when playing a DVD on my Lenovo 3000 N200 (0769-A44)

    Hi,
I recently got an N200 under Vista Home Premium.  Everything is doing well, except an annoying problem with PowerDVD 7 which is factory-installed.  When I play a DVD with PowerDVD, there is no sound.  With Windows Media player, MediaCenter and even MediaPlayer Classic, the sound is there.  Only with PowerDVD is there no sound.
Any hint on how to solve this ?
    Thanks !

Update 2008-04-30 : the problem only appears when playing commercial DVD that rely on AC3 codec for sound. For recorded DVD that use MPEG2-Layer2, sound is OK. Seems to be a limitation of PowerDVD OEM. However, if there is a solution ...

  • Poor DVD Quality when exporting to DVD

I have an HD timeline with XDCam footage 1080i.  I have been trying to export to DVD and everytime I export I get poor quality video.  The image shows distortion and pixelation.  My client is not very happy with the final product and I'm just running out of asnwers.  I have tried exporting using Dynamic Link, Media Encoder and I get exactly the same result.  I have tried exporting the first 15 min with same results. Jagged edges, etc.
I just upgraded to CS5 from CS4 hoping to resolve the problem and I get the same result.  I only have the problem while exporting to DVD in MPEG format.  Blu-Ray format works great.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Ann
Here are the specs of my PC.
         Dell Workstation T7500
         12Gb RAM
Quad Core Xeon E5520 2.27 CPUs
         Vista 64Bit OS
Terrabytes and Terrabytes of RAID storage.  Too many to mention.
I can edit HD content in real time and works great the only issue I'm having at this point is just Encoding HD to SD.  The encoding is normally done fairly fast, except for HD wich takes almost a whole day to encode when delivered in HD. Right now is taking longer because I'm trying to go from interlaced to progressive I guess.
    Question regarding your settings.
My settings are different than yours on:
         Quality = 5
Field Order = Lower (Could this be the problem?)
    Thanks

  • Disappointing quality when exporting to DVD - how do I improve this?

    Hi,
I've spent quite a long time producing beautiful slideshows in iPhoto '08 - complete with soundtrack, Ken Burns affects and transitions. I wished to burn this slideshow to DVD, but I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the final result.
Compared to playback on my iMac, the slideshow on the DVD was very grainy and jerky. I have a HD (1080i) plasma at home, with an upscaling DVD player. DVD movies are excellent quality with my home cinema set-up, so I'd like to achieve similar results with the slideshow movie I create from iPhoto.
When exporting from iPhoto, the maximum resolution I seem to be able to specify is 640 x 480 pixels, which to be quite frank is rubbish.
Is there anyway that I can export a higher definition slideshow movie? If I purchase Quicktime Pro, will I be able to do this? I don't want to spend money upgrading to Quicktime Pro, if I can't produce a better quality output from iPhoto (or iDVD for that matter).
    Can anyone advise?
    Many thanks in anticipation.

iDVD creates presentations that are 640 x 480 in size. That's the standard for TV. I create all of my iDVD slideshow in iDVD and, IMO, get better image quality when played. I don't get to use the KB effect but it's not one of my favorites anyway so it doesn't matter.
You could create the slideshow in iMovie (iMovie 6 is my preferred version) and then after you've got the slideshow as you want quick iMovie, launch iDVD and drag the iMovie project file into iDVD. That will prevent iMovie from encoding the movie before importing into iDVD where it will get encoded a second time. This lets iDVD to the encoding and will give better results.
If you add the movie project to an iDVD slideshow (doesn't have to have any photos in it) the movie will be scaled to the TV safe area and not get affected by the TV overscan issue that movies added to iDVD as movies do. They lose about 10% of the image due to the overscan. It's the nature of the beast. iDVD 7 will not scale them to the safe area if they are added to an iDVD created slideshow and can have be included with photos also.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • [PE9] noise or no sound when exporting

I'm putting together a video from a trip. After a while, my computer started getting slow and Premiere Elements almost instantly showed a memory error when opening my project. So I arranged a faster computer to borrow for a while, which solved the memory problem.
Now I want to share/produce/export my project as a movie, so I can watch it and write down things I want to change. Rendering as an avi results in an "unknown error", other formats seem to work fine apart from the sound. I either get a continuous noise or no sound at all. I literally tested every output possibility in PE9.
I assume it's not the project itself, because I did preliminary exports before which looked and sounded fine. The difference is: those exports where made on my own computer, the one that got to slow in the end. So it's not the footage used, everything sounds just fine in PE itself.
The new computer is brand new, with barely anything installed except for PE9, Windows, VLC and Chrome. Is it possible the computer lacks the proper audio encoder(s)? I thought those would be installed with PE9...
    So in short:
    - old computer exports movies perfectly fine, but when I open my project PE9 exits immediately, due to not enough memory. I simply can't open my project anymore.
    - new computer can handle the load, but produces noise or silence instead of the sound.
I exported two very short clips, one in MPG and one in MP4, the export settings are in the filenames. Both clips are the same content-wise and you should hear a bit of Johnny Cash as the soundtrack. But you won't.
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4832845/HD%20720p%2030.mpg
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4832845/iPod%20and%20iPhone%20-%20High%20Quality.mp4

Sorry, it's been a while since I had the time to dive into PE9 again. I updated the audio drivers and installed Service Pack 1 for Windows 7. That seemed to solve the problem briefly, because when I exported a short bit of the project, I had the correct sound. When I tried it again a while later, it was the old noise again. Very weird...
I continued my project in a new project (because the first one seems to be too much for PE9 to handle) and when I export bits of the new project, everything is fine. So it's probably a file used in the first project that causes the mayhem. Maybe one of the mp3's I'm using, although they're all self ripped from my own cd collection.
Still weird that it renders ALL of the sound useless when exporting. Also, PE9 doesn't indicate file problems (as I've seen in the past, with the little yellow danger triangle in the bottom left corner). I guess I'll have to split the project up in several smaller projects and see if I can isolate the troublemaker that way.
I didn't have the time yet to figure out the video codec used, but all footage is from the same camera and the mp3's used are self ripped. The computer has now been updated to the max.
I did however start the first project in PE8 and continued with PE9 later, when I moved to a new computer. But that shouldn't cause my audio to be messed up, should it? Using any of the standard presets results in noise or silence. I've tried them all
Also, when I export the new project (which was started in PE9), it exports to avi just fine. When I try avi in the first project (started in PE8, continued in PE9), I get the "unknown" error and exporting to avi or wmv is not possible.

  • Lose sound when exporting MPEG with QuickTime to iPod format

I paid the $30 to be upgrade to QuickTime Pro in the hopes that I would be able to export MPEGs from my digital camera for viewing in iPods. The video comes out fine but there is no sound. Any suggestions regarding how to get the sound to export too?

    Thanks; the discussion is helpful.
When I downloaded the MPEG Streamclip software from http://www.squared5.com/; the conversion process was agonizingly slow. As an example, a single 6 minute Quicktime movie took hours to convert. After it was converted, then it not was recognizable by iTunes. So, MPEG Streamclip has not worked for me.
This seems like such a straightforward process that Apple would support. Basically, you can create iPhoto albums that synchronize with iPods; however you CAN NOT create Slideshows that synchronize with iPods. This is so frustrating since the slideshows have much more functionality and presumably would be what most people would find most useful. The process to get a slideshow to the iPod requires you to go through Quicktime and then Quicktime to ipod; this process only occassionally seems to work.
Anyway, Quicktime Pro, the $30 application, seems to sometimes work and sometimes not work for conversion of Quicktime files to iPods. I tried using non AAC protected audio files for the iPhoto slideshow sound and the conversion from Quicktime to iPod worked. In other cases, the conversion from Quicktime Pro to iPod did not work. I am at a loss to explain consistently what is happening when you use Quicktime to export to the iPod. When I open the Quicktime movie file the option to Export to iPod is grayed out. However, when I open the Quicktime application the option is black and available.

  • Change in color when exporting to dvd. Please help

I have some AVCHD footage that looks great when exported to quicktime. But when burning to DVD with iDVD all colors are "stronger", especially red. (Skincolor get way too much red).
This appears both when playing back the DVD on the Mac or on a LCD screen. Have I done something wrong?

Yes, you didn't properly monitor your footage. Sorry to be so blunt.
If you want to know what your footage looks like on a TV, you need to monitor it on a TV. Your computer monitors will not get you the same colors. And since you are working with AVCHD footage that you will downconvert to a standard def DVD, you'll need something that can downconvert to SD.
Cheapest option? Decklink Intensity Pro (www.decklink.com). This requires that you have a PCIe Intel Mac Pro or Quad G5. It can downconvert the HD to SD so you can connect it to your TV and see what you will really be getting. There are other Decklink options as well that are more expensive, as well as solutions from www.aja.com and the MXO from www.matrox.com.

  • No sound when exporting from imovie 3,03

After having read most of the posts related to sound troubles, I still can't figure out why I can't get any sound when I export from imovie 3,03.
I almost know the entire dan slagle site, and checked every button to play with, I've tried many export or preferences settings (including various depths or rates) but got no result at all.
Surprisingly, when I grab the .mov file to some converters (ffmpegx), the expected audio part looks to be there, but remains silent (for me, meaning all of the bits at 0).

  • No sound when playing burned DVD with Windows Media Player

    Hello!
I made a 10 minute movie which I burned , tested and delivered today.
But it turns out that when playing the DVD with WMP, there is no sound.
I had tested the movie playing it with powerDVD, and it worked as it should. When playing it with a normal DVD player and TV it works allright.
But I had not tested it with WMP. And sure enough, when playing it with WMP there is no sound!
The ones who will show the DVD will do it from a computer to a video projector, and maybe they don't have a "proper" DVD program installed. But I heard that there was sound when playing with "VLC" which is a relief.
But I feel the need to get to the bottom of why there is no sound with WMP? Any clues?

In NTSC-land, one has but two choices: PCM/WAV or DD AC3, which is a particular "flavor" of MPEG. In PAL-land, one does have the option of MPEG (not DD AC3) as an option, but that seems to be falling out of favor.
When MS was re-tooling WMP, they wanted to add back the functionality of commercial (pressed/replicated) DVD's, but sought to limit any burned DVD's. Do not know what the mindset is now, so much could have changed with a few iterations of WMP. I have to admit that I just do not reach for it that often.
In the Project, or Disc, menus, one can tell En which Audio Transcoding to use. As John T, suggests, I would definitely do a test with PCM/WAV, and X my fingers.
If your client(s) is/are set on WMP as the player, there is hopefully a scheme that you can get to work. Also, remember that some older versions of WMP might not play the DVD at all, unless one finds the right plug-in, that basically hacked the intended setup in those older versions. Just like when delivering to a client, and not knowing their systems' calibration, or setup, trying to cover every base in a particular player software might involve a lot of work, and prayer.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • 30 fps projects automatically become 25 fps when export a DVD from share menu

I shoot some video at 30 fps.  I made a project setting to match that.
My 30 fps projects becomes 25 fps when I make DVDs from FCPX share menu.
I thought it would make 29.97 DVDs but somehow FCPX makes PAL DVDs.
I tried different settings: all 23.98, 24, 29.97, 60 fps projects give me 29.97 DVDs when I share from FCPX.
Only 30 fps projects does not give me 29.97 but 25.
Do you know why that happen?

I am bit confused.  It is not easy to make 29.97 out of 30 fps yet let FCPX handle the frame rate change?
Of course we should have the right fps setting when we shoot.  I guess it is still best option at this stage to set FCP project 29.97 and let it do the math.
If, though, I am okay to have my source video slow down tiny bit, then using Compressor for frame-to-frame conversion will assure the best quality?
