No sound when my iPod nano 6 th gen is connected to Logitech S751i

It does charge (I always keeps the dock plugged on AC) - or at least I think it does because the green light stays on for a while - but when I want to listen to music: NOTHING.
That I press on the remote to play, or I press on iPod commands directly. NO sound... Nano lights up and looks like it's playing but NO sound.
It used to work very well.
I didn't use the units for a year and I am now living in Europe.
Please help. Thank you in advance.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

From the OP: "My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. "
They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

Have iPod Nano Shuffle 6th Gen.  I purchased it when I had Windows Vista.  I have since upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate .  Was fine with Vista.  Now, it keeps shutting off during the song, 3 or 4 times.  Have to press power button and then arrow to restart song.  I went to my iTunes and ran diagnostics.  Passed all until the end.  The last test had a red dot failure.  It said no iPod, iPhone, or iPad found.  Does someone know how I can correct the problem?  iTunes is always updating, so I am current.

  • Is it possible to find out when was ipod nano 6th gen last time connected to the iTunes?

    Hi
I would like to know is it possible to trace this information using serial number or is it possible to get this info from some authorized personal?
    Thanks in advance

You may not be able to show "When" the iPod nano was plugged in, but you can find out when the last sync was.  Open the desktop iTunes app (you don't need to plug the nano in), choose the iTunes drop down menu, select "Preferences" {or after opening iTunes, use Command-Comma to show the Preferences, select the "Devices" icon.  It will show all devices which have been synced.  This may or may not show if logged in under another user.  This is only the easiest way.  Jim

I have iTunes on my iPad. I have a new iPod nano. How do I connect iPod to iPad to download iTunes and music library?

    Hi Divine Inspiration,
You wouldn't connect the iPod to the iPad for data transfers. Music is stored and shared either through a computer or iCloud.

  • I just purchased an iPod Nano (Red) and want to connect to my truck's speakers.  There is no built-in direct port.  What is the best product to buy to make that connection?

I just purchased an iPod Nano (Red) and want to connect to my truck's speakers.  There is no built-in port to connect.  What is the best product to purchase in order to make a connection?  Thx, Robert

Your truck's audio system may not have a specialized docking port for iPods, or a USB port, but does it have a standard "auxiliary" audio input port?  It would look like headphones jack on the iPod.  If so, you can use a cable like this
    http://www.amazon.com/Monster-iCable-Player-Auxiliary-Input/dp/B002AR5XIK
to connect your iPod's output to the car's audio.
Otherwise, if your audio system is old enough to have a casette tape player, you can get a device that looks casette tape with a cable coming out of it, and play your iPod through the casette tape player.  The other way is to get a device for the iPod that sends the audio, through a low-power radio transmitter, to your car's radio (at a frequency that is normally not used by local radio).  From my experience, neither of those methods work well, in terms of maintaining full audio quality.

  • Enabling "sound check" in ipod nano second generation

I have spent hours trying to figure out how to enable the "sound check" for my second generation ipod nano. I want to adjust all my songs to play at the same sound level, and I think that's the first step. I've followed all the directions I can find.
I find the right screen and select "enable sound check" but the minute I close that screen, the check-mark in the "enable sound check" box goes away. What's the trick for getting it to stay?

    Hi,
I would suggest going to "Preferences" in iTunes first and then going to the "Playback" tab.
Make sure the checkbox with Sound Check is checked. I had read that you must have it checked in the iTunes program so it will then work in the actual iPod when you sync it.
I have a brand new 80 GB Classic and a 2 Gen. 2 GB Nano and I had checked this sound check option on each of the ipods in "Settings" but it never seemed to make any difference.
I was reading the online manual for my new Classic and found that the Sound Check needed to be checked in iTunes for it to work in the iPod.
I did this and iTunes instantly went thru each of my songs in my library and adjusted the volume.
It has worked for me on my Classic but I cannot say if it has on my Nano since I use it for only Podcasts and do not have any music loaded on it. Plus I use a different computer for each of my ipods and have iTunes installed on each.
Hope this may be of help. Check the iTunes software first.

  • ITunes displays -48 error message when syncing iPod Nano on Windows XP

My girlfriend's mom's iPod Nano ran out of charge while jogging so she decided to charge it on her daughter's iHome. The next day she went to use her iPod but it was totally empty of all music and files. When she tried to sync it to iTunes, she received an eror message stating, "An unknown error has occurred (-48)" from iTunes and a Windows message stating that some iPod folder/file was corrupted.
If anyone receives such a message, I was able to correct it by:
-Plugging in your iPod to your PC
    -Ignore the error messages
    -Go to My Computer
-Find your iPod's drive letter (ie. G:)
-Right-click on it and select Properties
-Go to Tools Tab >Error-checking and select Check Now
You should be able to sync your iPod as before. I do not claim to be an expert so be warned that it may not work for you. Good luck!

Thanks for the question. The following resource provides information if you are receiving a -50 error message when syncing:

  • When my ipod nano 6th generation falls asleep or if the light dims the music will stop how can i fix this

i cant get this to stop i have reseted it and everything. i have the 6th generation ipod nano and when i press the little sleep button so i wont press any buttons it turns off or when it dims the light the music will stop i dont know why please help

Your problem is that your iPod is not sensing that your headset is inserted. There is a pin inside the headphone port on the Nano that senses if it is inserted fully. If it does not sense anything, it will pause playback to save battery power. Here are the solutions:
Insert it fully. This will fix it for most of you. Press that thing in there all the way. You should feel and hear a full click when it is fully seated. If you can see ANY silver of the headset jack, it is not fully inserted.
Debris inside the headset port. If you are totally unable to push the headset jack all the way, the most likely problem is that you have crud inside your headphone jack. Try blowing it out or slapping it against your palm with the headset port facing your palm to try and get the stuff out. If you look into he jack with a light, you should be able to see to the bottom. The entire inside of the headset port is white, so if it looks dark at the bottom, that is the crud that is keeping your nano from working.
Headset jack or plug issue. If you cannot solve the problem with 1 or 2, then there is likely something physically wrong with either the headset jack on your headphones or the headset port on the nano.
If none of the above works, you need to take it to the Apple store or wherever you purchased it. I think they are still under warranty.

  • CD ROM Drive lost when installing iPod Nano

After installing my iPod Nano and iTunes my PC will no longer recognise it has a CD ROM drive.
Like a dummy I tried it on 2 PC's and now they are both stuffed!
Apple tech support don't have a clue.
I have uninstalled everything, even the CD ROM Drives and rebooted, hoping the plug and play would kick in but no luck - HELP

I now have a solution for this. I printed out the solution before it disappeared off the PB website so im quoting direct from my printout. If you are not familiar with using regedit then be careful or seek assistance.
    Packard Bell PC’s
Yellow exclamation mark in device manager against CD/DVD drives and drives not useable/visible on PC. Can happen after attempt Ipod Nano install.
To fix involves running and modifying system registry editor
1 Click START then RUN type REGEDIT and click ok
2 Locate and then delete the following registry values:
    HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE\SYSTEM\currentcontrolsset\control\class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-B FC1-08002BE10318}-
This string will be visible in the right hand pane of registry editor and will have a yellow folder beside it.
When you open the folder that has the above string immediately to the right of it then in the right hand pane of registry editor a list of values will appear.
Reading from top to bottom they will probably be a list of items each having an icon with the letters ab in red.
    The list is
    Default
    Class
    Enumproppages32
    Icon
    Installer2
    Lowerfilters
    Noinstallclass
    Silentinstall
    Troubleshooter=0
    upperfilters
Now click on lowerfilters to highlight it then delete it,do the same for upper filters. When you’ve done this, drop down the file menu (top left hand corner) and click exit then power off the pc and restart)
If you’ve done this correctly all should be well, the nano should work and the DVD drives will be present.

  • When my ipod nano is plugged into my computer it says ipod not found

My ipod nano no longer connects to computer.  It still works when playing elsewhere and Itunes is working as well.  It is exempt from firewall so that's not the problem.  Not sure if my ipad or iphone will connect.  I am afraid to test them at this point.  I tried another usb cable (Apple) so that's not the problem.  Diagnostics says ipod not found.

  • 4 year old PC turns off when new iPod Nano is plugged in

    Hi,
I have an older PC running Windows XP. I just bought a new 8G iPod Nano. When I attempted to plug it in to my computer for the first time, the computer abruptly turned off (it did not go through the shut down process) and I was unable to turn it back on for several minutes. Now the compuet is back on and appears to be functioning normally. Can anyone help me with this problem? I have not yet tried to plug in the iPod again. Thanks.

I have the same problem and wondered if it was loosey goosey headphones which were just cheap 10 dollars buds.  So are you saying I should get new ear phones that fit tighter?
That would be my guess....Here is what Apple has to say about the problem.
       http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3700
My guess is that it is a compatibility problem with older or aftermarket ear buds.  My daughter has a 6th generation Nano and does not have this problem but keep in mind she is using the ear buds that came with the 6th Generation Nano.  With the replacement program they are not sending new ear buds.  I just did a test with my daughters 6th Generation Nano using an old set of aftermarket ear buds I had in my desk and I was able to duplicate your issue.  I then used the ear buds from my Iphone 4s and did not have an issue with the Nano going to sleep and the music turning off.
