No sound when my notebook starts

When my notebook (HP Pavilion g7 2243nr) starts there is no sound for a while, then it will come eventually. I have windows 8.1.

Hi,
Try the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update, select 'View update history' in the left hand pane and then select 'Installed updates' link in the following window.
Locate update KB2962407, right click it and select Uninstall. When done, restart the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update and select 'Check for updates'. You'll see the update you just uninstalled being offered again - right click and select 'Hide Update'.
After this you may or may not need to delete and reload the Audio driver - the latest version for your notebook is on the link below.

Sure! Not only your MBP dear gwforeman, everyone's does! Mine too, but without the disk in the drive. The hissing whirling sound starts sometimes at startup after the Mac's DING chime, sometimes when the MBP is up n' running and it starts in middle of nowhere. Seems something stuck in fan or MBP is protesting with a hissing sound that something is going wrong inside. Activity Monitor's report seems fine though.
No idea, what's going on.... Any buddy out there with a solution???

Alert sounds when new tune starts

About a week ago, I began hearing an alert sound about three seconds after each song began to play. I've turned off every sound I can find, and this is now the ONLY time an alert of any kind sounds. does anyone know why this began happening or how to stop it? It began before I upgraded to the latest version and continued doing it after the upgrade.

Do you have sound in videos and other sites? Is it only Facebook that you don't get sound? You might have accidentally muted audio for Firefox. The article Knowledge Base article [[No sound in Firefox]] will show you how to check.

This would be an extremely bad idea, the start up tone is there for a reason. It tells you when your system is attempting to boot, it is also necessary in the even resets like a PRAM reset are done. There is software to mask the sound however as stated it is a very poor idea.
Also, why turn it off. Why not simply put the display to sleep when the machine is not in use. You can easily do that in System Preferences - Energy Saver

Sound "kkrkrkkrkrk" [like abnormally sound of fan] on starting up Lenovo U160

when starting U160 Ideapad, i heard sound like broken fan, but the source of the sound is on the right up corner of keyboard frame [ the position of fan is on the left side..CMIIW].
this sound loud especially when the notebook start in the morning.

Clicking sound when I insert CD/DVD

I just want to ask if that clicking sound is normal. Because it sound really, really bad.

Hi Keith, it really hard for me to tell, because I cannot hear it myself.
But my macbook and all other 2 in my office all produce clicking sound when those macbook start up, or pull the disk into the optical drive, and I consider that normal.
Visit apple store and compare your "clicking" sound with their display unit, and if they produce similar sound, then consider that normal.

It will be replaced with the exact same model. It is not expensive compared to the full retail price of a new phone (without carrier subsidies).
If you're eligible for an upgrade from your carrier, now might be a good time to consider upgrading to an iPhone 5, though.

Why do I get an interminable siren sound when I start FF?

I'm using FF 3.6.3. I get an interminable siren sound when FF Starts. I can't get it to stop unless I go to Control Panel and turn sound to MUTE. This is unacceptable behavior for FF. Is there anything I can do to get it to stop?

I had that happen with a MacBook. It turned out that the metal case above the slot was slightly bent down.
Putting a flat blade screwdriver in the slot and gently twisting it to move the metal case up allowed it to eject. Don't put it in too far you only want to bend the case not the drive.
The case can get bent down by picking it up with your thumb pressing down on the case above the slot.

Try Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
If that doesn't help, try Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
If nothing helped, since you don't hear the startup chord, make an appointment at an Apple Apple Genius Bar or take your Mac to an Apple certified repair provider.

No sound when playing youtube videos

I have run the troublshoot and checked for upgrades for my sound driver and I still have no sound when playing a youtube video.
I can listen to radio over the internet fine.
My laptop started doing this about 2 months ago when I was trying to finish my finals for class.
Running windows 8. computer only a year old.
