No sound when switching to "entertainment mode" in audio cons

So i installed the drivers for x-fi fatality on xp. i get sound when i'm in "game mode," but not in "entertainment mode"?no error message appears. anyone have a fix??

Try this beta driver (i don?t know if work with fatality,?I have extreme music)

the sound quality from my headphones gets messed up whenever I switch to "entertainment mode." when i say "messed up," i mean the volume would constantly fluctuate from really high to just noise then high again.
however, when i switch it to "game mode" all the problems disappear.

I had a similar problem using X-Fi Fatalty. By similar I mean everything worked until switching to entertainment mode. When in entertainment mode all audio had a horrible amount of loud static and noise riding on it. This wasn't limited to headphones though as the same occurred using my 2. speaker system. I was using the latest driver, from June of '06 I believe.
I rolled back to the driver on my install CD (version 5.2.2.43 dated 8/8/2005)and it solved the issue.

X-Fi Elite Pro - how to change from Entertainment mode to Audio Creation m

Upon installation of my X-Fi Elite Pro, I was asked to choose one of three options, namely Entertainment, Audio Creation, and Gaming.
I chose Entertainment, simply because I listen to vast amount of music. However, I am also a Digital Music Creation student, so the Audio Creation mode is also appealing. Apparently each of these modes uses different hardware on the X-Fi PCI card.
The trouble is this - is there any way to change the mode in the installed Creative software, or do I have to run the entire installation process every single time I want to change the settings? That's a 20-minute round-trip.

You can change mode whenever you wish, just go to Start> All Programs> Creative> Soundblaster X-Fi > Creative Mode Switcher. You can use that to select which mode you need, when you need it. For instance, if you are about to launch a game, switch to game mode first, or if you want to do some recording/audio creation, switch to the audio creation mode.

Audio mutes when switching modes in Audio Cons

I have an Xfi Platinum that is working great except one annoying problem. Ever since I upgraded the drivers to the latest version, everytime I switch audio modes, for example from game to entertainment, the sound mutes on my system. I have to open the Windows XP sound control to uncheck mute every time. Has anybody experienced this problem and have a fix for it's I downloaded the mode switching program from a link on this forum, but it does the same thing. Thank you!

Don't know if this will help... Try changing the multi-track preview/playback settings (press F4)... If the playback buffer is too big or too small you may get dropouts...
Also try to defrag the hard drive with virtual memory turned off. With VM off it may run slow, but it should defrag the swap file as well making your drive super optimized. You may have to boot in safe mode to make it work though... Of course you can turn the VM back on when you're done...
Clean out the dust from the computer and make sure it isn't over heating...???

When switching to asymmetric mode - what functionality is lost?

I'm working on a IPS design in a fully redundant DC that is almost impossible to force symmetrical flows. My question is when using assymetric mode for TCP reassembly - what exactly is lost? Below is the list I've come up with so far:
1. TCP Normalization. (No big deal in my case because the ASA provides alot of this same functionality)
2. Anomaly Detection. With assymetric mode this should be set to Inactive.
I'm also including a diagram that depicts my situation.

Thanks for the response. In our design, the only time we would really see asymmetric traffic is if one of the 4270's link's went down. If we lose an entire 4270 we are still ok - just an individual link is when we could encounter asymmetric flows. I'd really like to design around that, but it seems the only way would to have a services block layer where via STP we can rely on the traffic always going to one switch. vPC with all it's benefits does lose you a predictable traffic path.

Video freezes when switching from window mode to full screen mode

I have seen repeatedly that when I play a video (downloaded via iTunesU) and try to switch to the fullscreen view, the video freezes at the frame I hit "fullscreen" on. The audio, and the file, however, continue to play but the video is frozen. To fix this, I have to keep hitting Pause/Play for the video to resume. It also happens when I go back to windowed mode.
Any solutions?

Same problem, as soon as I 'upgraded' to 9.03.15. At first I thought it was only a problem with older videos, but as I checked out videos, even a recently downloaded TV show exhibits the problem. Some videos, however, work fine? If I play around with a problem video until I get a green screen I can get it to work.

No sound when switching audio sources after 12.1.1.4 update. Requires iTunes restart every time.

Before the 12.1.1.4 iTunes update I could simply turn on my bluetooth speaker or headphones and both Windows and iTunes would automatically switch to that audio source, even mid-song. I could turn the speakers on and off multiple times and the sound would almost instantaneously switch between sources without fail. Now I have to restart iTunes to hear music after turning on my bluetooth speakers or headphones. Itunes simply stops playing music, although the pause button does not revert to the play symbol, but the track progress indicator stops moving.

Make sure you have the latest version of QuickTime (7.6.6) installed - if this is missing or out of date there may be no audio output from iTunes (including, but not limited to, playback through Bluetooth devices) or playback may be of poor quality.
Also check iTunes' Play Audio Using setting in Edit > Preferences > Playback (you will have to restart iTunes for any changes to take effect). In most cases selecting Direct Sound addresses playback issues when Windows Audio Session is active (though some users have reported the reverse),
If neither of these solves your problem try installing this alternate version: iTunes 12.1.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards). The "for older video cards" label is a little misleading, as this also fixes some playback issues, QuickTime and Outlook interoperability errors, and problems with other third-party applications.

Introductory sound when switching on my powermac g4

does anyone know how i can stop this loud sound that comes bellowing out when my mac is switched on ? i dont mind the sound but its just too loud, and the settings on the mac dont seem to affect the loudness of this introductory sound, which is pretty affecting when you've just woke up at 6am and everyone is asleep !

Setting the volume to zero just before shutting down will stop it on some models. Muting the sound via the keyboard mute key before shutting down should achieve the same.
If you do not use external speakers, plugging a dummy plug (a plug with no wires attached) into the headphone or external speaker jack should eliminate the startup chime by shutting off the internal speaker(s). After the machine is up, removing the plug will turn the internal speaker(s) back on.

When the battery has gone flat, once it has been charged, there is no sound or key clicks. Sound becomes available 10-20 minutes later.
Is there an obvious reason ?

This is a bug. It only seems to affect iPhone 4S users. Since you have an iPhone 4S, that must be that bug.

Strange sound when switching on the microph

i use a "sound blaster li've! value".
i don't remember when this strange signal noise had appeared but later found out, that you can hear it only, if you turn on the microphone input.
the noise appears and disappears and it doesn't change if you use or do not use the microphone jack.
my english is too bad to find the right word for the sound but it think this is the most accurate description for it: if you fry an egg in a frying pan you'll get this cracking sound, sometimes it gets louder an if the pan gets colder the sound volume decreases. if you plug a connector into the output jack very slowly you could hear a similar sound.
to solve this problem i tried to change the audio driver, i tried using the "kx project". the problem appears with this driver as soon as i turn on the ac97 chip.
therefore i assume the ac97 chip is broken.
if there isn't a way to solve this, is there a way to use my onbord c-media audio chip parallel to my soundblaster? the c-media chip is crap and i would just use the microphone input, the output should be done by the soundblaster, is this possible?
if somebody has an idea, please answer me!

X-FI 2 is the same failure as X-FI IN drivers hardware xfi is great, so if you buy the new x-fi2 there will be the same crappy drivers as you use now.
Anyway, Please post spec, Because this is a hard problem to solve many things can make the Sound to crackle.
PSU = To low Watts for a system can make the soundcard crackle,
=2, sharing power with other devices like hard drivers floppy drivers etc.
= Not goot psu enough, bad quality psu can make this beli've me i had the same problem
= Quality cables to the soundcard, use a different rail if that is possible.
Bios = check for bios updates. even if there is none information about creative, sometimes it can help BUT READ INSTRUCTIONS on how to do it and what the stakes are if you do it wrong, and read the forums about the new bios, not allways new bios is good. IF you are a Asus user you should know why.
GFX = Place the soundcard (PCI) away from the grphics card, if you got ex 4pci slots and gfx pci express use the last slot for soundcard, if that dosnt work try 3,2, etc. but futher away from the graphics card should prevent EMI
X-FI= check the power slot in soundcard check for bendings etc.
I had this issue fixed it with new psu, had no idea first but after my ASPIRE TRIO 520w cought fire and i changed it to Antec 620w it allmost dissapeard, then i checked the power slot in X-FI and it was bent outwards, after carefully bending it back the crackle dissapread.
Now im using Cooler Master Real Power 850emba and using a different rail for the soundcard.

If it is a single "boong", that is part of the startup. Hardware is checked at system boot, and a single boong means all is well.
3 short beeps in a sequence means memory-issues, and other sounds mean other bad things.

Warning when switching to Design mode

everytime I double-click a mxml I am receiving a warning inside Flash Builder 4.0.1 with Extension Builder 1.0.2 installed. The warning is shown under the Problem tab and is expecially related to "Design mode".
This is the message I am receiving: "Design mode: Cannot load csaw_indesign.swc..." or "Design mode: Cannot load apedelta_swc". I had a look to the complete Eclipse (Flash builder) log and got this:

No sound when a device is connected to audio-in

I have an iMac purchased new in the Fall of 2008 with OS 10.6.4 (Leopard). When I connect a device such as an iPodTouch or a Cassette Player the sound record properly but I cannot hear it.
Otherwise the internal speakers appear to work normally when I use iTunes, Skype, YouTube, etc.... as well as when I test the various sound alerts.
No external speakers nor headphones are connected to the iMac.
