No sound while capturing vi

I am new to this, but I have a new Dell, 3.0 , 2x 60GB HD, gig mem, ect. I am using the Sound Audigy 2 ZS card with the Pinnacle AV/DV 9 capture card. The problem is that when I capture video via a VCR, there is no sound. I have tried everything that I know of- still no audio. These are home movies taken on an old mini 8 camcorder. The tapes are 0 years old and need to be converted to DVD. I have used the S-Video And Composite connection and neither one of them produced any sound. I was told that this was the card I needed to complete this job. Please help! Thanks

As I recall, that model of capture card does not come with audio inputs on it. You will have to make sure you are running the audio into your soundcard. If you are already doing this then you need to check the input settings. A simple way to check is use windows sound recorder located in start/accessories/entertainment or Run:sndrec32 . Make sure your inputs are not muted or turned down, make sure to check the record options found in the options portion of volume control in your system tray. If you can record sound using the sound recorder and not in your capture program, then you will need to look at the software you are using.

  • No sound while capturing video

how do i get audio (sound) while capturing video. I know about audio scrubbing and canvas playback for editing but while capturing video I am not getting sound.

During capturing, sound will not play through your computer's speakers. Many cameras will play it through their internal speakers or you can connect external speakers directly to your camera

  • No sound while capturing

I'm trusting their really are no dumb questions on this site, but I've tried everything to resolve the problem, including returning FCE preferences to default settings. The problem: no audio while I'm capturing video real-time. However, when I play the clip, there is audio, so I'm flummoxed. I'm use FCE 2.2 on a G5 processor. One other observation: when I go into settings, the audio box, while checked, is grayed out. Any help would be appreciated.

    Everything IS working correctly.
You will not get audio out of your computer's speakers when capturing. You can moitor audio through your camera/deck. If you connect a monitor to your camera/deck you will hear the audio through the monitor.
    All of this is normal.
    Good luck!

  • Monitoring sound for capture

    Hello -
I have read through a few posts with similar dilemmas regarding how to monitor sound while capturing/logging. I now know I'm not going deaf.
I have a Sony DSR-20 deck and will be soon changing that to a DSR-11 deck, and was planning to log shot-by-shot and then batch dig each tape. Obviously during interview footage I need to hear the sound.
I also have temporary use of an NTSC monitor on loan, but I can't figure out how to hook up speakers to that. I don't have the right speakers, obviously, just my old ones with those red/white wires that I have on my ANCIENT stereo system.
Should I invest in new speakers or just hook up my television to the deck? I know it's not perfect (that's ancient too). I am going crazy not being able to start this process since I only have this deck for a week or so.
As a side note, I know that can instead import each full tape one by one and then go back and make subclips, hearing the sound at that point after the media has been captured. I'm not entirely clear on that process, whether you delete the original media and recapture based on your subclips, but that's for another post.
I sound muddled and I am muddled. Any help will be so appreciated.
    15" Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1 GHz, 1 GB SDRAM, 60 GB HD

    thank you.
I had read in an earlier post about it being better to listen to the audio off the VTR, not the computer, but I will try your suggestion as well. I just don't want to overtax my Powerbook G4 as I log and capture.
    Any other input?
(quoted below, submitted last January by Studio X)
When you download a video file from your camera, FCP and, more to the point, Quicktime is working furiously to split the muxed DV stream into distinct audio and video components. Though they stay within the same file wrapper, they are transcoded into unique components.
The point of this is to explain that the computer (CPU, RAM, ect) are working very hard to do this conversion. Now, to ask the computer to figure out and play the audio while you are converting it just simply adds more CPU/RAM overhead to A VERY TIME SENSITIVE process. The conversion MUST happen in real time or frames are dropped.
This is why it is highly recommended that you monitor your audio on speakers attached to your VTR not through your computer. It is also why FCP gives such a low res and slow refresh on the video component.

  • HOW CAN I CAPTURE SCREEN AND SOUND WHILE WORKING IN AUDITION

Hi!  I would like capture the screen in real time as well as the sound while working in audition and later add voice and annotations .
I tried Adobe Acitvate but it is not working. Time is running out for my trial version and I need to decide to get the right software.
Hope to get an answer soon.
    David

Are you talking about having used Adobe Captivate? If yes, which kind of recording did you start? And; since you talk about a trial version, I suppose you use Captivate 7?

  • Monitoring and previewing audio while capturing HDV

I have seen this discussion in the thread but there is no solution.
When capturing HDV via firewire, the audio is being previewed. This didn't used to happen. Is there a way to turn this off so that I can use other programs with sound like itunes? I can't find any way of doing this.
    Any solution?

so that I can use other programs with sound like itunes..
Buy another computer and use that for iTunes. Seriously.
If you start dedicating CPU cycles and RAM to listening to music while capturing, you are asking for trouble. Dropped frames, glitches, messed up files (pick one or more)
Yes, there is another way -uncheck the audio preview button.

  • Want to turn off sound when capturing HD from tape

Is there a setting to turn the sound "off" when capturing from tape into an HD project -- so that I can continue to use other programs (like iTunes) while capturing, without hearing the audio from what's being captured?

    Larry,
I don't know if I can offer help on your question, but depending on your computer set up, I personally would try to avoid running any other programs when using FC, especially during a tape transfer.
I'm wondering if the volume controller on the camera itself might also adjust the loudness coming from the transfer in FC without actually affecting the sound transfer.

    Hi,
Refer to SNote Note 1382678 - Pop-up to select Excise Invoice in J1IH/J1IIN cancellation.
    Symptom
While cancelling outbound Excise Invoice through the transaction J1IH or J1IIN, system always picks up the first excise invoice even when multiple excise invoices are present with same excise number and year.

  • Switching off of keyboard sound while dialing

How can I switch off the keyboard sound while dialing a number? The keyboard sound itself is switched off so no sound will be played while typing an e-mail or text message.
I am using BB Z10 running OS 10.0.10.90, German language.

Volume buttons will turn off the dialing tones ( as well as the ringer).  Also setting the phone to silent or vibrate only profile.  Only workarounds I know of for this.

  • Final Cut Express...Audio monitoring while capturing video.

Does anyone know how to monitor audio while capturing?

You might try posting in the FCE forum, very few Express users here in the Final Cut Pro forum.
In FCP, the function—and limitations—is clearly explained in the manual. I hope Apple's FCE manual and online help system are as thorough.

  • SETTING to hear AUDIO while CAPTURING?

    Hi...
    (another) silly settings question.
How can I hear audio while capturing from my HDV deck?
When capturing from a DV device (a camera), the 'preview' box enabled me to monitor the audio from the tape while either screening it or when capturing it.
I don't see that 'preview' box as an option in the HDV log and caputure window.
Although I'm capturing audio from the HDV source, I can't hear it while it's loading. It's a little annoying as I'd like to be able to hear the tape as a way to decide if it's even worth capturing.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mark

We're here all week, try the liver.
I've always been a believer in monitoring in the signal chain. Granted I don't work much with HDV-- but monitoring what is going into and out of the computer, rather than relying on the computer's built in audio seems to be the way to go. Then you know what's coming off the tape, and what's going back down to the tape.

  • Not able to get ECS & S&H value while capture J1IEX.

    Dear All,
I was trying to capture excise through tax code - Eg:- 1A(BED- 10%, ECS-2%, & S&H-1% & VAT-4%). All the value flow in PO but not while capturing it in J1IEX only BED flow, ECS & S&H is not flowing. For the same Tax Code in other Plant & material its capturing all the duty (Depot plant & non-cenvatable). I have checked all the entries in J1ID but not able to fine the Problem for (Manf. Plant - Raw Material).
    Thanks,
    sapuser

But the value are flowing from "TAX CODE"
Correct me - Condition maintained in TAXINJ are common to all plants?
What should be considered for excise flow for manufacturing?
In Manf. Plant - BED - OK, ECS - Not flowing, & S&H - Not flowing.
    Helpme to solve this.
