No sound with flashplayer
I have tried all suggestions provided by nviel which seemed to be along the right track but I still have no sound with flashplayer using IE8 and Vista Home Premium. My regedit settings are correct when I go back thru them. Adobe's site didn't want me to go back to flashplayer 9 that was fully functional. I have no problem loading the program which seems to be another common problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times!!!
I did have sound from all speakers not long ago but now sound is limited to the main/front outs. Using realtek alc888. As usual enabling environment effects/echo makes sound come from all other speakers but I have never liked any of the effects/echo. Usually have at least three sets of speakers hooked up at all times and they all work with other applications as they used to all work with flash???
This happens in both firefox and IE7.
My main front outs are hooked up to the "big stereo" which are not on all the time and would really like to get sound from the side and rear speakers again.
This may be a windows update problem too but I am not sure???

Crackling sound with Flashplayer 10
I have a major issue with the release of Flash Player 10. I
have over one thousand sound files pulled into my swf via XML of
spoken audio which now crackle with the new version of the player.
My developers tell me that it is to do with the encoding rate
being 48Khz and when they tried one at 44Khz it was fine. Obviously
I do not to have to re-encode all of the sound files when they
should be fine anyway.
Has anyone else come up against this problem and know of a
solution.I'm honestly surprised you didn't have problems before with
audio files that were encoded to 48K. I have always had subtle
issues with audio if it isn't encoded to 44.1K. This is the way
Flash has been for as long as I can remember.
The only solution I know of is to re-encode all of the audio
to 44.1 -
No sound with Flash 15 and Windows 8
No sound with Flashplayer 15 and Windows 8. I have followed the steps to enable the program and to disable Active X filtering and still no sound. Sound works on all other applications.
The Adobe website instructions refer to a way to troubleshoot sound that cannot be followed -- see the inserted text below -- it refers to an application below and there is no application shown on the page.
Can someone please help?
How do I test my speakers?
Click Test Speaker in the application shown below to hear a sample sound. Adjust your speakers or headset so the sound is at a comfortable level.
How can I display this panel again?
You may want to display this panel again if, for example, you want Flash Player to use a different microphone. To display the Microphone panel:
Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Macintosh) the application image while it is playing.
From the context menu, select Settings, and then click the Microphone tab.
I don't see the Microphone tab, so I can't display this panel.
If your computer or device doesn't support audio recording using Flash Player, you cannot select a microphone to use, and this panel doesn't appear.Hi
Is the sound card recognized properly in device manager or can you see yellow exclamation marks there?
I have founded an interesting article on the Toshiba website regarding no sound:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB7C021B0001R01.htm
By the way: You can also mute/unmute the sound if you press FN+Esc. Check this!!! -
No sound with Flash 11.3 - Sound card conflict?
After updating to Flash 11.3 (11.3.300.257) on a Dell desktop on April 10 there was no sound in Firefox, Chrome or Safari. There was sound in Internet Explorer (IE9). I think I have determined that the source of my sound problems was some kind of conflict between Flash 11.3, my sound card and the three browsers above. My sound card is a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE.
If audio was output through the Dell's built-in sound there was sound with Flash 11.3. If audio was output through the sound card there was no sound with Flash 11.3.
I also have an HP notebook computer (no sound card; HP says current notebooks use built-in sound) running Windows 7 (64). I downloaded Flash 11.3 from: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ on April 16 and have sound on Firefox, IE9, Chrome and Safari.
There have, however, been two crashes reported on Firefox.
On two computers my experience has been that if audio is being output through the computer's built-in sound that sound works all right in Flash 11.3 .
If you are having problems with sound in Flash 11.3 please describe the problems, system information and details about any sound card you are using.
Maybe the good people at Adobe will provide some guidance about what information they would like to see here. Here are more details in case these might help users or the Adobe team.
Prior to updating to Flash 11.3 I had 11.2 on Windows Vista (32) on a Dell E510 desktop with external speakers connected to the sound card. There were never any problems with sound with Flash 11.2 or previous versions. Drivers on the sound card are up to date.
I filed a bug report about the sound issues on April 11, number 3210981.
Also, there are 15 crash reports on my Firefox browser from April 10 to 14 (accessed by typing "about:crashes" in the address bar) .
I reverted to Flash 10.3 on April 14 and there was sound in IE, Firefox and Safari. There was no sound in Chrome which had automatically updated to Flash 11.3
On April 17 I did an experiment.
When external speakers were connected to the Sound Blaster Audigy sound card (and the sound control panel was set to "Speakers SB Audigy") there was no sound in Chrome (Flash 11.3).
When the speakers were connected to the computer's built-in sound output (and the sound control panel was set to the computer's built-in audio, "Speakers SigmaTel...") there was sound in Chrome (Flash 11.3). Note: restart may be required for changes in the sound control panel to take effect.
There was sound in Firefox with Flash 10.3 with either configuration.
Finally, I physically removed the sound card and connected the speakers to the computer's built-in output. (I probably didn't need to physically remove the sound card but I wanted to anyway.) I updated to Flash 11.3 and now I have sound in Firefox, IE9, Chrome and Safari.
It remains to be seen if there will still be crashes on Firefox. -
WILL THERE EVER BE SOUND with Flash Player?
I must use Version 11 or later of Flashplayer to view and listen to most of the material that I need on a daily basis. Very recently (within the last two months) this reqt has become paramount across many sites, including cable tv, professional instruction, etc. I have downloaded upgrades, uninstalled current versions, re-installed, followed NUMEROUS sets of advice, tasks, etc. I have upgraded to Internet Explorer 10. I run Windows 7 professional. I do not care about Google Chrome.
I just want to be able to hear sound again. There is nothing wrong with my hardware.
Please tell me how to successfully get rid of whatever the latest upgrades did to remove sound capabilities. Thanks.Do you hear sound with either of these two videos?

[RESOLVED] No sound in flashplayer...
in Firefox using nspluginwrapper or from the GDM Greeter (Gnome 2.20) and general sound quality degraded on Arch64 since today's update to alsa-lib 1.0.16-1 and alsa-utils 1.0.16-1.
Regarding the Firefox/Flash, console output when playing a flash video is:
ALSA lib pcm.c:6618:(snd_pcm_slave_conf) unknown format unchanged
repeated endlessly while the video is playing.
I found a relevant bug report in Debian's bug tracker (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=469641) and downloaded and installed the latest alsa-lib Hg snapshot, compiled with a hacked version of the Arch alsa-lib PKGBUILD. That fixed the general sound quality problem but I still have no sound from flashplayer or the GDM Greeter (gdmsetup won't play sounds either). Everything else that I've tested so far works (Kaffeine, Rhythmbox, Mplayer etc.)
hwdetect --show-sound gets:
SOUND : snd-mixer-oss snd-pcm-oss snd-hwdep snd snd-page-alloc snd-pcm snd-timer snd-hda-intel soundcore
Any suggestion for what to do next gratefully received!
EDIT: I regained sound in the GDM Greeter by changing from "SoundProgram=/usr/bin/aplay" to "SoundProgram=/usr/bin/play" in /etc/gdm/custom.conf. Though this only worked after I had upgraded to sox 14.0.1 from the Arch 14.0.0-1 package because the 14.0.0 version of play just whinged about not being able to find /usr/lib/libltdl.so.3 (because it wasn't there any more!)
EDIT1: Is this the bleeding edge that everyone keeps talking about?
EDIT2: And it turns out that the way to get sound working in flashplayer is to downgrade to alsa-lib 1.0.15 but I cannot be bothered and have gone for gnash 0.8.2.

Thank you tobiash!!! Works for me as well
Actually, there ought to be a PKGBUILD for some version of lib32-alsa-lib in AUR already because lib32-alsa-oss depends on it but searching for lib32-alsa-lib just returns a page not found! Anyway, I built my own i686 alsa-lib package first using the same mercurial snapshot that I had to use for the x86_64 package in order to resolve the poor sound quality problem and then used your PKGBUILD to make the lib32-alsa-lib package.
So that's everything done:
1. Sound quality back as it was with alsa 1.0.15
2. Flash player in firefox has sound
3. GDM Greeter sounds working again after updating sox to work with libtool 2.2-2 (libltdl.so.7)
4. Rebuilt alsa-utils, so aplay now works as well
5. Oh, and alsa-driver updated to 1.0.16 so that the kernel modules have the same version as alsa-lib
What fun
EDIT: The only significant change that I made to the PKGBUILD was to add a dependency on lib32-glibc.

I am trying to connect my Macbook pro 2010 to my Samsung HDTV using a mini display port to hdtv cable. Trying to play a slide show in IPhoto but I only get sound with no picture. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I keep saying this over and over, in the hope that people who do a search will find it. Apple cannot possibly test for or be reponsible for the bazillion combinations of adapter, cables, and TV's out there. The only monitors that are 100% guaranteed to work with the MacBook Pro are the Cinema Displays and Thunderbolt Displays, because, they're made by Apple. They're expensive, but they work perfectly.
My guess is that you bought a cheap MDP to HDMI cable, or have a defective one. From my reading of these boards over the past few months, cheap cables have a high failure rate. And the regular priced ones have only a slightly less of one. Try a new one. Make sure you do not damage the Thunderbolt port. -
My iPad does not have sound when on the Internet, including YouTube, but does have sound with iTunes and other apps. How can I correct this?
If you are sure that you have sound in other apps - and if you can still hear keyboard clicks and get notifications, then system sounds are not muted. Try this and see if it works.
Close all apps completely and reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
[SOLVED]No Sound with ALSA - Intel Corporation 82801G HD Audio
Hey all,
I've succesfully installed Arch Linux. My past two attempts have met with failure, all because of my own failure to read and follow directions correctly. This time everything is installed correctly. I am running Kdemod3 on my laptop with Arch and everything works great. I LOVE Pacman and the simplicity of Arch's configuration files. It's super fast and all together simple. My only remaining problem is this:
My sound with ALSA is not functioning. I followed the installation instructions at the arch wiki and after unmuting all of my channels I still would not get any sound. My sound module is snd_hda_intel and it is detected, loaded and the whole nine yards (as far as I can tell). My user is a member of the 'audio' user group also. I looked at the troubleshooting tips on the bottom of the Wiki but decided not to try them as they do not seem to pertain to my card (snd_hda_intel) but I will try them if anyone would like me to.
If anyone has any ideas, they'd be greatly appreciated!:D Anything I can provide that you need I will be more than willing to provide.
Thanks for such a great distribution,
Dan

I am running an Acer Aspire laptop, 1.9Ghz Intel Celeron CPU, Windows 7, 64 bit, and 99% of the time, Firefox 29.0.1. RARELY, do I use IE. I am not very tech savvy at all, but I have attempted many different solutions, given to me from inquiries to several varying forum members with no luck. There are no extensions at my add-on page that have anything to do with FlashPlayer OR Adobe. I used a file path that someone sent to me, found an older version of Flash, right-clicked and deleted it. It was in my recycle bin, and on the advice of my wife, (who is much better with PC's than I)was going to uninstall this older version. I hadn't checked it in a day or two, but went to my recycle bin a few minutes ago, and somehow, it's disappeared. ??? There is something else. It is strange TO ME, but may not be to others. I took the same file path, ( C: Windows/ SysWOW64/ Macromed/ Flash ) that someone on a forum gave me to see my Flash version, except this time, instead of opening "Macromed", I opened "Adobe", and there is a file there that reads "Shockwave 12". ??? The same person that told me this file path, also said that a NPSWF32_13_0_0_214.dll file was the MOST IMPORTANT file in the FlashPlayer 13 folder, and as long as it was there, everything was OK with my updated Flash version. There IS NO SUCH FILE in the "Adobe / Shockwave 12" folder. The files in this folder, I, of course, do not recognize, but for the sake of this discussion, ( question ), there are 10 or so .dll files, 4 or 5 Application files, ( the .dll's are Application extensions ), one DCR file,(???), and a file folder named Xtras, that, when opened, shows (6) X32 files, and a text document named "autodownload". I AM SO VERY SORRY for this extremely long rant. It is a long, ongoing story. FP 13 won't playback 90% of the video I try while I am online.
I think you made a mess by deleting things from the install folders. I suggest that you perform a clean install of both Flash Player and Shockwave Player.
download the Flash Player uninstaller from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html and save it to disk
download the Flash Player installers and save them to disk
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
download the Shockwave Player uninstaller http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/uninstall/win/sw_uninstaller.exe and save it to disk
download the Shockwave Player installer http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/default/english/win95nt/latest/Shockwave_In staller_Full.exe and save it to disk
close all browser windows, then run the downloaded uninstallers, followed by the installers -

[SOLVED] No sound (with flash)
Hello.
I have no sound with flash. It does work elsewhere.
I am using ALSA.
My flash should output audio correctly according to wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fl … d_in_Flash
# aplay -l

EDIT: I'm retarded. I didn't add my user to audio group. And sound elsewhere was from speaker-test which needs SU.

Orrrr it's because the flash plugin uses OSS.
run `aoss firefox` and be happy.
OSS does still work or at least the alsa backwards compatibility layer that emulates the old interfaces, right? did i miss anything?
for newer versions of flash (like version 9) simply install firefox in wine and let it install the plugin. that usually works great! -
NO SOUND with iMAC 24 - Please help
I have tried everything.........searched for drivers, everything, installed boot camp drivers from the CD numerous times.........I can't get rid of the ?pci device that shows up in the device manager. I am using windows xp sp3. The ? still shows up in the device list and I have no sound............everything else is perfect and great, but can't get sound!!!!!!!! I tried to update driver from realtek and sigmatel from the location on the hard drive and CD and no help. I DLed new drivers from realtek, no help..............does anyone know??????????
For those that are interested, this DOES work, as I have just tried this using SP3...........this is from another forum:
http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=490
Basicly, download the file at the bottom of the page, unzip, go to Device Manager, right click the yellow (?) PCI driver, mark to select your own location and direct it to where you unzipped your file. That's it. UAA driver should be found and you should be able to hear sound.
If not yet, try now to re-install your audio drivers, and it should work. (if on mac, that means re-install boot camp drivers).
When doing the above, if it asks about a missing file, then point to where you just unzipped everything, it should be there, as it was for me. And, finally, in device manager, I still had one more issue for "audio device on high definition BUS" AFTER i corrected the PCI. To fix this, in device manager, I simply selected UPDATE DRIVER and use the MAC CD (or BOOTCAMP) and reinstalled the drivers and all worked fine after...................
I now have sound with my IMAC 24in and Windows XP SP3 (yes, i don't want to use much of XP at all, but it's nice to have............
Enjoy and let me know if this works or if you have issues, I would love to actually try and help...........

No Mic Sound with Pulseaudio, works fine with Alsa.
Have a Acer Aspire One D225E that I've set up with Gnome 3. Everything seems to be working except I'm not getting any sound out of my microphone. I've messed around with the sound settings in the gnome settings app with no success. Using alsamixer, I've made sure the mic channel is unmuted.
I'm able to record sound with Audacity using Alsa and play it back fine. When I switch to pulseaudio however, I get nothing. This wouldn't be a problem, except skype only allows you to use pulseaudio to record if you have that installed.
I've checked the wiki troubleshooting section on Pulseaudio and found the section on Acer Aspires, but solutions in the link led to a dead end. Nothing has worked so far that I've tried.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge of pulseaudio will be able to point my in the right direction on this one.I have exactly the same problem with my Acer Aspire 3820. It's definitely pulseaudio related, since arecord works.
