No sound with headphones on x-fi. please hel

I have X-Fi Platinum, bought 2 weeks ago from BestBuy, and I've downloaded the newest drivers from this website.
The problem is the following:I can get sound from the headphones only if I choose 4. and above as the speakers mode. If I choose Headphones in the Entertainment mode, I get no sound from the headphones.
I'm pluging the headphones to their location at the I/O Dri've. (I tried to plug them also to the pci card audio outputs but still got no sound)
Important thing to know is: If I choose Game Mode instead of Entertainment Mode and choose headphones then I do get sound.
So the only case I get no sound is in Entertainment Mode with Headphones selected but this is the most important configuration for me so I can't ignore it.
One more thing I can add is that the diagnostics tests passes ok but again, when I reach the sound test, I get sound from the headphones only if I select 4./5./7. speakers.
And one last thing - I got a built-in sound on the motherboard but I haven't installed the drivers for it from the motherboard cd because I wanted to try to prevent conflicts between the 2 soundcards.
So windows does not recognize any sound device other than the x-fi.
The only devices I have with ? or ! are in the "Other devices" tab as windows doesn't even recognize them.
Hope anyone can help me since the technical support wasn't much of an help.
Thanks.

did you try the headphones with the drivers from the cd that came with the card before you updated to the ones on the site?

  • HT1459 my  4th generation ipod only has sound with headphones

my 4th generation ipod only has sound with headphones how can i fix this problem

    - Try inserting/removing the headphone plug at least a dozen time.
    - Cleanout/blowout the headphone jack
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
If still problem that indicates a hardware problem. Likely the headphone jack is bad.

  • Sound with headphones & notifications only

Can only get sound with headphones and notifications. Speaker not working.  HELP! Going nuts.

You really should stick one discussion or the other one. You have created two discussions now and it may get confusing.
You can try plugging and unplugging the headphones a few times. There may be something loose in the headphone connection. However, this issue has been reported before, so it has happened to others.
You can also try restoring from a backup - if you have a recent backup. If you restore from a backup - everything in that backup will be restored to the iPad. So if your last backup is one month old - you will restore the iPad to the condition it was in one month again and you will lose any app data and device settings that you had on the device since then.
You said you "reset" the iPad. To me that means you rebooted the iPad with the home and power buttons. If you mean that you restored the iOS software that's something else. If you haven't restored the iOS software, that might be your next option.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.

  • Intermittent sound with headphones

My internal speakers work just fine, but Ive just noticed when I plug my headphones into the macbook the audio plays through them for about 0.5secs and then is silent for 0.5secs... it does this continually.
When I remove the headphones the internal speakers work just fine still.
I've tried it with several headphones and they all do the same.
There is no red light on the headphone port, like others have experienced.
    Any suggestions?

There is no red light on the headphone port, like others have experienced.
The red light only come on when there's something plugged into the headphone jack, for optical output. So you shouldn't see the red light in normal situation when nothing's plugged in.
As for the breaking sounds via headphone, I would suggest turning your headphone jack a bit when its plugged in, it could have been a bad connection, and try it with another headphone. If all fails, take it down to an apple store and have them exchange it if its still under warranty.

  • No sound with headphones

My ipod NANO 7th Generation - sound cuts out with headphones. Works fine when doccked. I've tried different headphones.

Hi, try changing your headphones, if they are all healthy(test them on another device; doesn't matter on what) probably it would be your headphone jack installed in the ipod.
If you couldn't do anything for it, go to the most near physical Apple Store, and ask for help from them.
    Best Regards

  • Sound with headphones is constantly going away uln...

So, I have recently switched to my hd tv for my monitor. I use a usb mic and just headphones out of the headphone jack, every minute or so I completely lose sound from my skype and I have to either leave the call and join the call, or unplug and replug in my earbuds. This has only recently started happening when I changed moniters so I think it has something to do with constantly changing audio priorities but im not sure. I unchecked the automaticly adjust speaker settings in call>audio  settings because I thought I saw a similar thread where someone was having the smae problem but that didnt work. Please help!

Yes. Your speaker jack is malfunctioning, and you could get a USB to Headphone adapter.
I had an older PowerBook that could hear nothing through the speaker jack. All i could hear was static and badly tuned radio noises.
    Hope this helps.

  • Ipod classic 160gb showing music playing but no sound with headphone headunit aux cable or hardwired car stereo

last week i had my ipod classic 160gb plugged into my ford falcon fg xr6 ipod connectivity hardwire for the car stereo as i have had for over a year now since i only ever take it out to update music and software. i unplugged it and was using an iphone 5 in the meantime for about 2 hours while my ipod classic was updating. when i connected my ipod classic the connection is fine i can browse files and songs like normal but no sound comes out of the speakers. i thought my car was stuffed but i have tried it on alpine pioneer kenwood aftermarket units through an ipod cable which i have done hundreds of times in the truck i drive as well as tryin to connect headphones as well as an aux cable to play through the speakers all to no avail.   the ipod works fine i can scroll throught lists the seconds and minutes of the song or video roll on by so it is playing but no sound is being produced.
if anyone could help me with this ASAP it would be greatly appreciated and i would be one grateful man to have my music back. thank you in advance

    Hello Brutl6,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPod classic.  You have gone through some really good steps to isolate the issue. I recommend continuing with the steps in the following article to further isolate and troubleshoot the issue of no audio when connected to headphone or speakers:

  • SOUND WITH HEADPHONES

hi ! I wanted to hear my music with my ipod headphones on my new macbookpro, but, it doesn't work ? has someone the solution ? thanks ! cat

Should check in System Preferences -> Audio to see if the "output" changes from Internal Speakers to something else when you plug your Headphones in the jack.
Did you check to make sure it was in the correct jack?
The problem I'm having now is that normal non-digital (non-SPDIF) speakers are being recognized as SPDIF digital output...thus no sound.

  • Can't get sound with headphones on iPad mini

When I plug headphones into mini sound wont come out but still comes out if bottom of mini.

    Hi!
I have exactly the same problem, and when I look for netflix on the App Store it doesn't show in the results. Did you find a solution?
    Thanks!

  • Phone will play sound with headphones only?

My iPhone 4S will not play sound except on headphones.  When I push the up or down button for volume adjustment it doesn't change on the screen at all ( like bars going up / down?)

    1. Remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
    2. Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
    Best.

  • My computer only plays sound with headphones

    Product Name: pavilion pd6
    product number: vm22ua#aba
    operating system: Windows 7
error: my laptop only plays sound when i have headphones plugged in
no changes made to the system before the issue occurred. new drivers were installed for my audio settings after the problem occurred but nothing worked.

Do the Music and Videos app still play through the iPad's speakers ? If so then have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
