No sound with my iPods videos!

HEY,
IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT IS WRONG PLEASE EMAIL ME AT [email protected]!! I AM TRYING TO WATCHA A VIDEO BUT NO SOUND IS PLAYING!!!!!!

Quicktime and iTunes do not like muxed files(video/audio are one track).
When you use either to convert, you get video only.
You need a third party transcoder.
I recommend:
MPEG Streamclip http://www.squared5.com/
Media coder http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/

  • Anybody run a lot with your ipod video?

Hi, guys. I run a lot everyday and i just wonder if it's ok to run with a ipod video. I know this will increase the possibility of damaging the harddrive. but doesn't apple consider this already and made it robust enough?

well the hard drive buffers approx. 32 minutes ahead. so the likelyhood of skipping is minimal. In the way of negative effects of the motion in runing im not sure i dont run. im sure it would be ok to run with it ....i mean i see alot of people luggin the larger older ipods around asa they run in their hands. And since the new ipod is smaller and lighter im sure it wouldnt be as bad. I would just recommend looking for a durable adn good arm band.

  • What is the case that comes with the iPod Video?

My Friend just got a Nano and the case that came with is is just like a little sleeve that the iPod slides into....it also has no access to any controls (hold button, Dock connector, Click whell, etc.) and cannont see the screen.. you have to take the ipod out to use it....is it that same thing for the iPod video?
Dell   Windows XP Pro   Future owner of iPod video 30GB or 60GB (5G)

The case that came with my 5th generation black iPod video sounds similar to the one you're describing. It is totally enclosed and the only items that I have access to are the headphone jack (top) and the hold button (also on the top). If I put the iPod into the case upside down I can have access to the usb connector. This isn't meant to be a case for use (other than turning it on and going) but I've been able to push through the case to skip songs, rewind, etc.
So, in short, it's nothing fancy but it has done a good job of protecting my iPod against scratches.

  • My PC is rebooting when I try to sync up with my iPod Video

Since I downloaded iTunes 6.0.5.20 last week I have been having serious problems. When I tried to sync up my iPod Video with iTunes my PC just goes blank and reboots. Also, when I tried to download videos from the music store my PC also reboots and I never receive the video though the store says that I have received the files. This happened with 2 different videos. They were free ones and so no loss but my iPod is now unable to be updated!

    ati3duag.dll
that's the second time i've seen that dll referenced here in a blue screen in a week. that file is associated with ATI video card drivers.
try running through the troubleshooting steps i was suggesting to Bahama Boy in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=2957231
but let's also enlist some additional technical help. let's capture a minidump of the crash and send it to someone who can interpret minidumps.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. When it crashes, look for the MiniDump file. It's usually in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" and is called something like Mini<number>-<number>.dmp.
collect the minidump, and send it to this email address
in the email, include the URL to this thread so that the person who gets the email has some context, but also give as much information about the context of the crashing as you can.

  • Earlier Issue with 30Gb Ipod Video

Hey, I have a 5th generation 30Gb Ipod video. I recently went out and bought a new 2.0 USB port for a PCI slot for my Ipod since I only had a 1.1 before that.
Well my problem is, I had it plugged in last night and it had the do not disconnect screen on the ipod for about an hour, so I pulled it out without ejecting it, and later on it said that windows said that the device was not able to be identified and was malfunction try unplugging it and plugging it back in, I did that and it still would work, so I restarted my PC and got it to work, then about a hour later I was uploading some photos and it gave me the same message, so I just turned off my PC and went to bed as it was getting late.
This morning when I woke up I thought maybe it was just the port so I unplugged and plugged it back into a different 2.0 port since I got 4 with that card I bought, I then left for school and came back to find that my Ipod is working like nothing happened since I changed it's port.
I just want to know if I should pull out that warrenty card and get a new one or if that message was just because the one port could recognize something was there, but not able to tell what device it is.

  • I am sad with my ipod video 30GB...HELP!

after i found a disclaimation mark icon diplays on my ipod vedio, i tried to upgrade and retore my ipod video with most updates ipod updater 1.1.1 version. it doesn't work!; it told that "cannot retore", so i use the Mac's application - Disk utility to erase the disk. the process took 30 hours to finish. i restart my ipod and mac.
but after that, ipod still cannot mount on to my desktop. my OS X 10.3.9 ask me to "format/ignore/eject" after restarted. i press "ignore" to make ipod connect to my mac. open my ipod updater to retore it again , it runs a moment and told "error while format ipod"!
i have NO idea to fix it, anyone can help?
or i just send it to the apple warrenty center?

If i was you i would just send it away to apple because you are obviously trying everything you can to fix it and nothing is working.
Even if you just contact apple via email or phone they can maybe suggest other options.

  • Using a iPOD nano in combination with a iPOD video

I am using for a while a iPOD video that contains a copy of all my CD's. As I would like to run without breaking the hard disk, I have bough a iPOD nano 3rd gen. When I connect it to the PC, he has got the same name of the iPOD video.
How can I diffenriate them to store only a few CD, podcast, ... on the nano?
    Thanks in advance

The solution is to rename the iPod by double-clickung on his name in iTunes.

  • I am facing some problem with my ipod videos

I am facing some problem with my ipod videos

Because many apps are not compatible with your old device
To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • No sound with my converted videos?

Hey guys, I have downloaded videos to my PC. Then, I convert them to play on the ipod. Once transfered over, I can see the videos...but I have no sound? Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance!

What software are you using to convert the videos to iPod format?
If you are using Quicktime Pro, or iTunes 6.0.2 to do the conversion... then that is most likely where your problem lies.
Neither QT Pro or iTunes has the ability to successfully encode a muxed video file with audio. You'll end up with video and no audio.
You'll need to use some other third-party software to do the conversion. There's a handful of software available. Just search the forums and you'll find many titles mentioned.

  • No sound with Keynote imported video

My boss is planning to show a Keynote presentation from her iPad when she takes it overseas, but we've run into a weird problem.  I imported the video into Photos as per the approved way, and when I play it in Photos on the iPad, it has audio.  However, when I go into the Keynote presentation and add the video, there is no sound.  Does anyone know what's going on?  Clearly it's not a problem with the clip since it plays the audio in other apps on the iPad.

    Just to add to larryfromauckland's post . . .
If you find that moving the side switch does not work, make sure that switch is set to "mute" in your general settings rather than "lock rotation."  This is under the General settings tab about 2/3 the way down the page.  I tried this fix and it didn't work initially, then realized the setting for the side switch was set to "lock rotation" instead of "mute."  Once I swtiched it and made sure the switch was moved so that red dot was not showing, my audio worked just fine.
    Hope that helps.

  • No sound in my ipod videos

i read the previous post, and i can understand u not helping with stolen music, but i have simple videos taken with my digital camera of my friends and i...and when i convert them with quicktime pro 7, theres no sound! whats up with that?!
    60 gig video

The video files created by the camera are most likely in a muxed format... where the audio and video are muxed into a single track.
Quicktime Pro does not have the ability to convert a muxed video file. You'll end up with the video and no sound, as you have noticed.
You'll have to use other software to do the conversion for you.
    Try MPEG Streamclip.

  • No sound with transfer of Videos

I recently bought a Sony HDD camcorder and after tranfering the videos to my computer there was no sound. I have figured out that they are being recorded in MPEG-2 format and so Downloaded the Quick Time Pro which is suppose to be a MPEG-2 Player but still no sound. Please Help. Interestingly, after uploading these same videos to Goole there is sound associated with the clips. Any input would be helpful.

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Have you tried resetting the PMU? This may correct a problem with not being able to hear the videos. If it doesn't help, post back, and we will see if we can find something else that will work.

  • Sound lag on ipod videos

i have downloaded a few movies onto my pc, converted them for my ipod touch, however each movie starts fine but after 20 mins or so the sound is out of sync with the picture, i am using im too ipod converter is this software the problem do you know of any good ipod movie converter on the market

You need to check the original files, they may have timecode breaks in them that cause problems when transcoded-even tho' it is easy to blame videora(which was notorious for this 6 months ago) or whatever the program I have never heard of that you used is called.
PS. We can not give you aid in converting DVD's, it is against the terms of use-unless you mean non encrypted, non commercial DVD's.

  • Bose Soundock - No sound with Mini Ipod

Greetings, purchased Bose SoundDock yesterday. I have two ipods - a Mini and a Nano. The nano works well in the SoundDock, but the Mini will not -- even though it plays fine with earphone headset. It shows that it is running and charging but no sound. I have tried all troubleshooting suggestions in the manual. When the nano is connected to the Soundock the remote works well. When the mini is conncected, only the pause/start button and the fast reverse/fast forward buttons work. The Off and Volume buttons do not, yet they work fine with the nano. The mini is model M9804LL and is running version 1:41. Help.

I know this may sound stupid but I know my ipod mini will not work properly when I have a "jacket" on the ipod and try to place it in the sound dock. It does not seat properly. So just make sure that the Mini is place and seated properly. Hope it works
