No soundblaster midi with x-fi extreme audio pc

I know this version of x-fi isnt based on the same chipset,all i need to know is does it support using the sound fonts and sf bank manager?The software is on the cd but i get no choice to install it so all i get is the generic midi sound from windows. I'm using vista 64.

The Xtreme Audio is the only "fake" X-Fi in the series, and I don't know why someone would seriously consider buying it (I was considering it too once, but then I saw that forum, and saw that an Audigy 4/Audigy 2 was much better specified, for almost no difference in price).
Is it a true X-Fi? Surely not.
Is it a relabelled Audigy 2 SE/Value? None knows for sure, however there is indirect evidence like the physical similarity, and the similarity of the drivers.
I would like to know what's under that "X-Fi" sticker...if you weren't returning it I'd ask you to take a look :-)

Hey,
after trying for hours this forum is my last hope. For about a year my PC worked more or less fine with Vista Business und the Soundblaster Extreme Audio PCIe (if you ignore the not working line in).
But today the driver vanished for no reason. Instead of the Creative Driver an Vista HD Audio Device was installed. I still got sound but the overall sound quality got really bad.
So i tried reinstalling the Soundcard using the Driver CD. There were no error messages but after a reboot there was still the HD
Audio Device. I downloaded the new driver from the creative HP: Same effect. I tried updating the HD Device, i tried deleting the Device. I even tried deleteing the the internal Driverfiles but after that I just got the problem that I had no audio device at all.
I don't think the card is broken because i get sound using the HD Driver.
Has anyone any idea what i can do to fix this

Funny fact: Today, after a reboot, the card worked again... Dunno why... But it does...

Why MBA (Mid - 2013) doesn't support with Bose Headphones for Audio Input

I just bought two MBA 11(mid - 2013) and MBA 13 (mid - 2013) two week ago and I found out that it doesn't support bose audio headphone (MIE2i mobile headphone) for audio input. So I am having experience for audio input with it. When I am having skype or recording, the voice go slient if i use that headphone as external microphone. All of my friends who are skyping with me can't heard my voice if i am doing skype with my MBA. Audio output is fine though, you can hear as usual in headphones. Internal microphone works though, but it is not good for privacy though.
Thus, I went to apple store (Five ave) to trouble shoot about it, they said that is because Bose has noise cancelling, (BUT Bose MIE2i doesn't have noise cancelling though). They gave me two ear buds of apple ipod (one is outdate version & another one is latest version - that representative sucked, because she doesn't value the customer, she gave me outdate ear-buds, but i didn't urge with 3 dollars ear-buds), apple ear-bud works for audio input and output, however apple ipod ear buds are suck, it hurts the ears all time if you wear for 1 hrs. that's why I use quality headphone such as Bose headphones. Unfortunately, my bose headphone is not compatible at all.
Is there any one having experiences with audio input with your headphones when you are using skype or audio recording. Which headphone is compatible with your MBA for input/output?

The MacBook Air has a single headphone port. The microphone or headset in question must be of the three-ring variety, just like Apple’s headsets ......, the Macbook Air has the “headset” port, not a conventional 2-ring mic and speaker port.

Youre likely going to need to get a USB headset to use with your Air. OR, standard headphones plus a USB Mic.

X-Fi Extreme audio and FlexiJack with mini-tosl

Hi.
I was told that you can use a standard mini-toslink to toslink cable instead of the i/o module if you only want optical spdif output from this card.
So i bought me the card and a the cable.
On my gamer pc the optical led of the FlexiJack is glowing all the time even if i dont use the port.
On my HTPC (the one with the Extreme Audio card) the FlexiPort is black as night and ofcourse i dont get any digtal signal to my reci'ver. The decoder tab where you are suposed to be able to set "Dolby Digital/DTS Bitstream Out" is absent..

Anyone? I really need to get this working...

I just checked to see if the update to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 solved any of the issues outlined in my previous post, and to my dismay, nothing has changed -- all of the previous problems persist.
My iMac (8) -- it's renamed itself eight times since the recent troubleshoot with the Apple tech rep -- shows up as a shared device in Finder on my MacBook Pro, but when I click on it, I cannot establish a connection using "Connect As". So I've attempted to connect using the menu "Go/Connect to Server...", using both (alternately) the iMac's name and IP address, to no avail. I get a message which reads: "There was a problem connecting to the server 'Peter's iMac (8)'. This server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
Here's what I know:
The server -- Peter's iMac (8) does exist;
The server -- Peter's iMac (8) is available at this time;
The server name -- Peter's iMac (8) -- is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
The server IP address is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
The network connection is active when I attempt to connect.
I'm convinced the problems stem directly from the OS X Yosemite update. None of this was ever remotely an issue in the previous OS X's -- any of them. This is maddening! What can be done? Apple?? Anyone???

Xfi extreme audio SB0790 Windows Home Premium

I have installed Windows 7 upgrade on an HP desktop that was running XP Pro. Install went fine exept I have an error "No Audio Device Installed"? yet I have installed the Xfi extreme audio card in its slot. The card works fine with XP. I have gone with the windows update installed the current driver with still no luck. Searched the forums again no luck, have done my due diligence via the internet and with beta drivers and still only have the red X everytime I boot. What can I do to get this card working agian?

I have gone through every forum google points me to we are not alone, taking advice I've installed then deleted these drivers about 0 to 20 times I've tried compatibility mode "Vista" "Vista SP", "Vista SP2", "XP", and so forth with no luck also running the driver as admin. Every time I update driver in 7 it tells me I have the current driver yet I have a red X and no sound.
I can't believe that Creative does not have working drivers for the final release of 7 knowing that they had 6 to 8 months to prepare. Really poor on their part.

Extreme audio digital

I connected my amplifier 5. chanels CAT CS-906 to my extreme audio through the coax cable using the digital output of the soundcard. I understand that the Dolby Digital 5. conversion isn't hardware made but still i want at least a software real time Dolby Digita 5. conversion so my amplifier would recognize and enable Dolby Digital not prologi. It sends Dolby Digital 5. signal only when i watch movies or listen to music that has the soudtrack on 5 chanels?
The problem with this is that my amplifier isnt that good at de decoding prologic and it sounds like crap when i listen to stereo music it mixes chanels up and it's just like piece of crap coming out of the speakers.But if the sound card sends Dolby Digital signal the it would sound MUCH MORE better. I know someone that has the exact amplifier and uses it on the computer but his sound card is nforrce 2 onboard and it still does Dolby Digital in real time all the time> The diference betwen us is just to great when it comes to listening to music
I want Dolby Digital 5. decoding in real time everytime why isnt this possible?

Purchased XFI extreme audio PCIe for someone and it won't install on vista 32

The hardware isn't detected and thus cannot be installed. I had the same problem with my fatality titanium but at least there was a patch download for windows 7 so the card can be detected. No such patch exists for the extreme audio PCIe which means the card won't install under windows vista or windows 7.
Am I missing something or what? I have read other similar complaints about this particular XFI.

Reading the bowls of the post just below, It said to make sure shockwave was enabled. It wasn't!! I enabaled it and tried my web sites and things worked fine.

I have the X-Fi Extreme Audio Card , am running Vista (32) and need the "What U Hear" function. It appears I need old drivers/software from 2006 to make this work - Can anyone kindly point me to a li've link for these, please?

I can not comment on SteelSerios, but I totally removed all Creative software, which included the driver. Vista then picked-up my 'X-Fi Extreme Audio' sound card as 'new hardware' and automatically found a suitable Creative driver. After this I updated driver allowing it to check the internet and the working driver is Creative 5.2..68 dated 08/05/2007 (that may be 05/08/2007 to you).
If that doesn't work, try temporarily removing any software you installed relating to SteelSerios

X-Fi SB Extreme Audio + Barracuda HP-1 + Game M

Hi,?Windows XP OS (with all service packs) with X-Fi SB Extreme Audio + Barracuda HP - I do not have Game Mode available as an option in the Creative console. As I research this, it seems this is the normal state for this audio card. However, I am unable to get sound from all the speakers in the HP-. When I uninstall the card and revert to the on-board sound card, the HP- appears to be?working properly - it seems that this is likely a driver issue rather than a hardware issue. Assuming I get a good clean reinstall of the X-Fi Extreme Audio card and drivers such that the HP- works, am I going to get positional sound from the HP-s when i play games such as Gothic 3, BioShock, Gears of War, or F.E.A.R.,?or do I need to upgrade the audio card?I'm not really interested in the technical reasons why the sound card and headset may or may not be compatible, I'm mostly interested in knowing if this combo works or not. If this is a driver issue, is there a best driver set to use rather than the most recent drivers at the Creative site?

I never got any help with the above from anyone. I am using the remote control to jack in and out now, but the Zalman mic wont shut off no matter where I go or what I do. HELP

Mixing down X-Fi MIDI with effec

I'm using Cubase SX, and I have a few drum tracks where I'm using the on-board synth of my X-Fi card. (I'm using another device - M-Audio 40 - for audio recording).
Now I want to include the MIDI drums in the mix, so I need to record them on an audio track.
How do I do that?
* Is there a way to do it internally (routing the signal)?
* Or do I use the SPDIF output of the X-Fi to feed the M-Audio?
* Or do I use the analog output of the X-Fi to feed the M-Audio?
Additional question: I need some reverb on the track, can I use the X-Fi onboard effects for this? I tried it using the console, but I couldn't apply any effects on the X-Fi output ...
Or are all these questions irrelevant? Can I access the X-Fi synths/effects with a VST instrument or similar?

Here is one method you could use:
w/ Cubase SX -3 (maybe SX 4 is different), you can 'bounce' MIDI (drum) track(s) into audio track(s) (one track at a time) using "what u hear" method (ASIO input ports Mix L/R are same as "What U Hear" (least w/ Audigy cards)):
- enable Mix L and Mix R (maybe differently named in X-Fi) as input ports (VST Inputs)
- add new Stereo Bus and select Mix L/R as ports (VST Connections)
- set ASIO latency as low as possible (Device setup-VST Multitrack) and enable Lower Latency (Expert settings)
- create a new stereo audio track and set it input from Mix L/R (set track output to master)
(- mark the area (timeline: left/right locators))
- solo the MIDI (drum) track
- record the new track
- mute the original MIDI (drum) track
You can add X-Fi onboard effcts to this new track by setting the track output to some of those "ASIO FX n" output ports (needs st to be enabled in VST Outputs/VST Connections). It's maybe best if you make a copy of the track(s) and direct its output through internal effects (otherwise there may be issues w/ tracks output levels).
You can also add any VST/DX effects to this/these audio track(s) normally, which I recommend rather than using onboard effects. There are many excellent freeware effect plug-ins available and you can find them through KVR plug-in database (as for an example).

Issues with SPDIF out Extreme Au

I have yet another issue with my Extreme Audio and Digital I/O, but I found my own work-around so I decided to post it.
I have the Digital I/O module and I just picked up a Z-5500 speaker and wanted to go digital on my HTPC. Nothing reported that I had a SPDIF out (PowerDVD, Nero, VLC). So I reinstalled the drivers (and did not reboot). It worked and all was good until I rebooted, then no more SPDIF out. Nothing I could do would re-able the SPDIF. Reinstalled the drivers (and didn't reboot). SPDIF working again. Hmmm, this is going to be a PITA.

I figured out that if I disable, then re-enable the card in Device Manager all is well (until I reboot). This is a 24/7 HTPC, so this isn't a major problem for me.

I have the Express configured now as ‘extend a wireless network’. Is this correct, or should it be ‘join a wireless network’ ? It presently shows the router mode as Off (bridge mode).
Router mode "off" is correct but "extend a wireless network" and the dotted line indicate that it is "wirelessly extending" your Extreme's network which is not what you intend.
If an Express detects a viable Internet connection from its WAN port, AirPort Utility should propose that connection. Since it did not, verify the Ethernet cable is intact by connecting a wired Mac or other device to it, ensuring its wireless is temporarily turned off to avoid confusion. When you are satisfied that the Ethernet connections are correct, reprogram the Express. Usually it is best to start with another "hard reset". AirPort Utility should configure it the way you propose. If an Express is already configured to connect wirelessly, it's difficult to convince it otherwise without a "hard reset".
It is possible that the complexity of your wired network could introduce an element of uncertainty. The noises you describe are unusual. An Express's internal power supply might make a barely detectable whine but an Extreme's power supply is separate and I can't think of anything within an Extreme that should make a noise that you describe.
Check each connection point and cable for connection integrity. If in doubt, check each connection point with an Ethernet cable known to be good, and a device capable of verifying its connection. If it's not a portable Mac, try the Xbox or similar device. An Ethernet network test appliance is another option. Cat 6 problems are usually found at connections, and they are not very forgiving of improper work.
There is nothing wrong with routing Ethernet cable alongside metal ductwork, as long as it's not within it.

Soundblast XFI with DTT3

Hi everyone. Well, I'm hoping I can enlist your help here to get me up and going. Here is my scenario:?. Using Windows Vista 32-bit2. I have the standard Soundblaster XFI card that Dell puts in the XPS machines (I believe it is an ExtremeMusic if I had to guess)3. Cambridge Soundworks DTT3500 speaker system4. Using a SoundBlaster Digital I/O Module between the sound card and the speakers with a digital optical audio cable5. Im using the beta vista driver dated 28 Dec6. Hmmm, Sorry it didn't work for ya, Have you tried headphones plugged into the port next to Digital DIN, See if you have any sound at all?**bleep** fine speakers these DTT3500 but they sure are a biaaatch to get working, Almost too complicated with all the features, I had a lot of issues in XP also with these, Always had to set them up in?windows sound settings or change speaker modes in order to get sound from ALL speakers in some games. Hopefully Creative will release some updated drivers soon for us Vista users.Cheers,Macca

Why does transport bar show Midi Out activity from an AUDIO track?

I am running Logic Pro 9 on Mac OS 10.7.5 and I've noticed lately that The Transport display is indicating Midi output signal when I have an AUDIO track engaged. This happens when I engage the Record-Enable button, while I'm actually recording, or when i merely press Play. The good thing is that it does not affect my ability to record and playback my vocals.
I should add that this also happens when I have a Software Instrument track playing or recording (but not when only Record-engaged). I'm not sure if that's what's supposed to happen since we are dealing with midi data in this instance. I know there should be Midi-In activity, but not sure about the Midi-Out activity.
My Audio Track is used for recording vocals from my mic input, which is a separate in put from when I'm recording the output of an external midi instrument. I have checked all of my connections, I have tested my Midi Interface and Midi controller keyboard through Audio/Midi Setup in the Utilities and everything checks out. I have not added, taken away, or replaced any software, nor hardware.
This is very puzzling to me because as far as my limited knowledge takes me, I do not think I should have any midi activity while I'm recording from my microphone inputs onto an Audio track. Any insight would be helpful.

does the x-fi in question use the pci express portion of the bus?
I want to?get one but I only have a PC CARD slot not an Express Card one, and I've seen a USB to Express Card converter BUT it warns that IT WILL NOT DETECT OR WORK WITH CARDS THAT USE THE PCI EXPRESS PORTION OF THE INTERFACE, so my question is, does the x-fi extreme audio notebook use this portion? if it does guess I'm pretty much PWND...
