No sounds when importing Quick Time

I received a clip from someone and am able to open it and it p[ays fine, However, when I import it to FCP Express, The video p[ays nut there is no sound. The clip has a mpg extension.

MPEG video files are muxed (multiplexed). You'll need to demux and convert the MPEG file into an editable format that will match your FCE Sequence settings. MPEG Streamclip should be able to do this for you.

  • FCP wont import Quick Time anymore

I´m using FCP HD 4.5 everything was fine until I tried to import Quick Time files previously exported from FCP. I always imported Quick Time and never had this problem. Any help will be apreciated.
    Thanks.

the important thing to understand is .mov doesn't tell you much about the file. It's just a wrapper. Open it up in Quicktime Player and go to Window>Show Movie Inspector (or show movie info).
This will tell you the format of the video. Odds are it's a format that FCP 4.5 doesn't support and you'll need to convert it to compatible editing format.

  • Importing quick time movie issues

Should be simple - but: I am putting together a video presentation using photos on iPhoto, converted to a slideshow and exported as a quicktime movie (.mov)
    So far so good
Then I need to import to iMovie to do additional editing. I have done this before, no issues.
However, when I try to import, the .mov file is not available. It shows in finder, I can access and play via finder etc, but from the drop menue on iMovie it is not accessible -
    what's up?!?!?

this is really confounding me, it should be so simple
First I tried simply exporting the iPhoto slideshow and kept getting
The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -9459.)
Then used the drop down menu to export to quick time and have a successful export, showing in finder and playable, but cannot import it to iMovie for further work.
Then, tried removing any music and text and tried to re-export as quick time movie, and got
"free up disk space" when there is plenty of disk space available.
Then tried to export as mpeg4 and got
The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -9459.)
    again,
    ?!?!?!?!?

  • No sound when importing from a Sony HDR-HC7

    Hello all together,
I bought a new Sony HDR-HC7, the camera is fantastic. There is only one thing perplexing me: When importing HD-Clips into iMovie HD 6.0.3 I cannot hear the sound that was recorded by the camera. When I play the clips, I can hear sound. What could this be?
With my old Sony TVR 33 (no HDV) I don't have this problem.
    Did I forget any settings?
    Thanks for advices,
    Stefan

    Hi Stfan:
I guess I would try the easy things first.
Make certain that " Video Play Through Camera " is
not enabled in imovie Preferences. That is
because it sends all audio through the FireWire port
and mutes it on the computer.
ake certain your video is 16-bit audio (not 12-bit).
Once you have imported (and saved) the video into
imovie, close imovie. Then unplug all firewire
    devices (camera included).
Relaunch imovie. Is the audio there now?
    Sue
    Hi Sue,
thank you for your advice. As I use the German version I am not quite sure, if "Video Play Through Camera" is in the third tab of the iMovie-Prefs the fourth checkbox overarm? This one's unenabled. Audio is 16-bit.
Audio was alwas there in the play-mode but not in the import-mode.

  • Importing Quick Time file to FCE problem

I tried to import a quick time movie I had saved on a DVD from work and it would not import into FCE. It says "unknown file". But other quick time movies that are on my Mac import fine into FCE. Both my work Mac and home are almost identical-Power Mac g5. Why is this happening?

    Stephen
QuickTime comes in many shapes and sizes and not all work with FCE.
Files from a DVD are multiplexed.
They will need to be de-multiplexed before FCE can use them.
    Search this forum for demuxing.

  • Importing quick time slide shows to dreamweaver site

I can't seem to import a mac osx quick time slide show to my
web site. Anyone know how to do this?

There is a part of the website here referred to as the
    Exchange:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/?ogn=EN_US-gntray_comm_exchange_home
It is under the Community drop-down up at the top of this
site. This is a resource that allows you to find and download
plugins for all of the Adobe programs. If you go to that link, then
on the right click on Advanced Search. Then search for "quicktime"
for the exchange "Dreamweaver". Just searching now, the second one
    is what you need:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm?event=extensionDetail&extid=16025
Just download the file and double-click on the file that you
save to your computer. The Adobe Extension Manager will launch and
should install it automatically for you (please note that DW must
be shut down for the install to work).
I gave you both links so you can find what you need quickly
and so that you can search through the exchange later in case there
are other extensions that might help you out.

  • MBP shuts down when making Quick time conversion

MBP core duo 1.83 2G ram current updated software.
It shuts down when I try to do a Quick time conversion..
went to the Genius bar and booted from another drive and my macbook still shut down when doing a QT conversion. He says that means it is NOT a software issue.. blames the logic bd.. 310. for a fix if I send it out.. they would keep it overnight and do testing for free.
the console says "previous shut down cause: 3"... He said that was a code for shutting down by holding the button for 4 seconds and got all puzzled about that.
I have been able to convert files using Compressor which I have to do before I can use the go pro video in final cut.
it might have shut down once during a conversion that way.

Monitor your CPU core temp and see at what temp the computer shuts off. Also, download SystemLoad and run that for awhile to stress the processor. See if you can get it to shut down with that and at what temp.

  • No sound when importing video

I am importing video into iMovie using a Canon Elura 85. The DV port does not work on the camera, so I have a cable with 3 RCA plugs on the end that goes from the camera's AV port that connects to my Canopus. I plugged two of the RCA plugs into the Left and Right audio ports on the Canopus, and one RCA plug into the video port. I am able to see the video image show up in iMovie's import screen, but there is no sound. How can I solve this? Thanks.

iMovie does not play sound on import. Most cameras that iMovie supports do not import in real time, so sound is not meaningful. It could be useful for those with tape based cameras, but these cameras usually have a speaker so you can hear it on the camera.

  • No sound when importing mpg file

I have used several camcorders as sources for video clips. All of the clips can be imported to my Premiere Pro CS4. The problem I am having is that the mpg files from one of the cameras, when importing the clip, the video comes through fine, but the sound does not come through at all.

Is the problem MPEG file using MPEG audio or Dolby audio format?
    Cheers

  • No sound when importing video CS3

    Hi Guys
Here's my situations. I am a media technician in a school and have a PC running windows 7 and Premier Pro CS3 installed. We have just got some new Lenovo G700 laptops (Windows 8) and I have installed Premiere CS3 on these using the original instal disks.
When I import a video on the laptops I am not getting any sound, when i drag the video onto the timeline there is no audio track. If i use the same video on my PC it works ok! I have had the settings side by side an the ONLY difference I Can see is under the info tab when clicking a video in the project is says 'VIDEO' on the laptops and on my PC it says 'MOVIE' other than that everything is the same!
    Any ideas?
One other thng, the videos play using WMP on my PC with no problems, however on the laptops they freeze and only play the audio, so I was thinking maybe a codec issue? but I have never gone out my way to instal a codec on the PC it's just always worked

    Ryan,
    Welcome to the forum.
A MOD will likely Move this post to the Premiere CS4 & Earlier sub-forum, but your link, and any e-mail subscriptions will follow.
One of the main causes of no Audio, or truncated Audio, on Import is the failure of Audio Conforming not completeing 100%. This article goes into more detail, and offers tips: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3892177#3892177
The Conforming of the Audio is for Premiere, so being able to PLAY the muxed file in WMP is not a good test, other than to insure that the file does contain an Audio Stream.
Good luck, and please let us know if this is an Audio Conforming issue.

  • No image, just sound - also for Quick Time questions

    Hey everybody!!
I am editing a movie on Final Cut Pro, and I use Quick Time Pro to capture the clips and source them to FCP. The type of recorder I am using is an HDV, and up to a couple of days ago, things ran smoothly.
Then I started having problems with my Mac, of a different kind, and I had a friend of mine RESTORE my system. After that, I can't work on my film anymore, cause the Quick Time files from Capture Scratch only play sound, and have a blank screen. Every time I try to open them a window box appears, telling me that Quick Time is missing some components, and cannot play the clips properly. I tried downloading most of these programms, like Divx and On2, but the clips still can't play. I also tried erasing and re-installing Quick Time, but this doesn't seem to work either.
I must have edited and delivered this video by tommorow, so what do I do??
    Please advise.
    Thanks.
    Stef.

First, you should NOT be capturing your clips via QT Player - use FCP itself to capture. Otherwise you have no logging information. This is bound to create problems for you, and today's issue could be a byproduct of this workflow.
Second, once your system was restored and updated, the system and FCP software versions are almost certainly different. Different versions of software produce different results, and one possible outcome is that you cannot view clips, as the codecs have changed. So - what version of OSX and FCP were you using before the restore, and what versions are you using now?

  • No Sound when importing mts-files

    Hi there!
I am strongly using Adobe Premiere Pro for years now, and since I work with the AVCHD Codec I got this problem:
Every time I import a mts file into premiere pro, it got no sound with it. I first tried this with premiere pro cs4 (last update). There it worked properly. Then I upgraded to cs5, and suddenly the problem was there. I reinstalled the application, I installed all sorts of codecs, etc etc... nothing worked. Then I upgraded to premiere pro cs5.5, and the sound was back. Just as normal as it should be! And now, that I have premiere pro cs6, the sound is gone again...
It's just really annoying and sometimes even preventing me from doing my work! Because when I have really really much footage to import, I have to convert it to mp4 first!
Please, I don't know what to do any more, this is driving me crazy!

  • No sound when import mpg

    hi!
I am trying to import a pile of mpgs to make a dvd out of but when i import one at a time or all of them, I get no sound.
    thanks for the help
    J

iMovie is a video edit app meant to work with firewire connected miniDV camcorders
get for 20$ the Apple mpeg2 plugin in case you want to convert dvd content....
and for free the tool Streamclip for converting mp1/2/4, divx, avi, vob...
(with that combo you can NOT override copyprotection mechanisms! ... but you do know how...)

  • My itunes adds snippets of sounds when importing music

Ive had this bug for a while now where itunes adds about 2 seconds of what i think might be other songs or maybe just random sounds into random parts of the mp3 file. It doesnt do this on all songs just every now and again. Ive checked the files im importing and when i play them with a different program like quicktime or whatever, the songs are fine. Im using the setting where itunes copies all added music to its directory, in this case an external hdd. Ive checked the file in the itunes directory and they do have the snippet in them. so im assuming itunes messes up somehow when copying to its file directory or maybe my hdd is slowly getting corrupted, which i doubt as other files from the hdd are fine. Also i think this only happens when i add multiple songs at a time but im not 100% on that as it happens to maybe 1 in 100 songs so it might just not have happened to an individual import yet.
Has anyone ever had any similar problems where itunes added random  2 second snippets to the mp3 file?
    thanks in advance,
    Timo

we'd better check on the usual suspects with that one:
You can't import or play music from an audio CD in iTunes for Windows
