No speaker audio-Pavilion dv9413

While watching a video clip, speaker audio stopped. Speakers are inoperative in all modes. However, headphone audio is working. Has anyone had a similar problem? If so, what was the fix.
Thank you!

No Sound from the Speakers (Notebooks Windows 7)
Because this issue is a recent event, the easier thing to do might be to "backtrack" in time to before things went sideways.
Restoring Windows to a Previous Point (Windows 7)
HP PCs - Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8)
System Restore sometimes works better if you first drop the system into Safe Mode:
Entering Safe Mode in Windows 7
Assuming that works, then you may want to set your Windows Updates to NOTIFY (instead of automatic updates).
Restart / Reboot the computer and log in.
Call up the Windows Updates program and do a search for new updates.
Check the list, click on one update and install it.
Reboot the system, if necessary...
Check your Sound.
When you find the culprit Update, use your system Restore to go back (again) so the update is removed.
Restart / Reboot the system and log in
Open Windows Updates, search and list the available Updates >
Right-click on the offending Update and select to HIDE / Ignore that update
At this point you can Create a Restore Point to mark the spot and either repeat the "hunt and ignore" process or just take a chance and install the rest of the Updates all at once.
Good Luck!

  • Laptop left Speaker audio not working

    Sir,
I have dv-5 1102 tu model laptop, in that left speaker audio not working. But, in headphones & Speakers have no problem in both left & right audio.
    Kindly do the needful

    Hey @KKVK ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your left speaker is not working on your dv5 notebook.
If the headphones are working it would tell us the sound card is fine. The same properties are applied to the speakers and the headphones in your audio control settings.
You could try a system restore to before the issue started to make sure it's not something in the operating system. To perform a system restore see the following guide: Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8) or Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7).
If this fails I would suggest contacting HP Phone Support to send the notebook for service. Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the following link to get the support number for your region: Phone Assist Worldwide.

  • TS5180 How do I get my iphone 4s to go to speaker audio when not on phone...ie. listening back to notes I have recorded?

How do I get my iphone 4s to go to speaker audio when not on phone...ie. listening back to notes I have recorded? It seems I can only access the speaker when I am on the phone.
    Much thanks.

    Hello Frame1,
Thank you for the question.  It sounds like you are trying to listen to your Voice Memos on your iPhone using the speaker so that you don’t have to hold your iPhone to your ear.
Enabling the speaker is specific to each app.  When using the Voice Memo app, you can tap the speaker icon in the upper right hand corner to enable or disable the speaker.  When the speaker icon is blue, audio should play through your speaker:

  • Dv6000t no speaker audio, low left channel on headphones

    HP Pavillion dv6000t, running Vista
Out of the blue, I recently lost speaker audio entirely, and the headphone jack now only gives me the left channel, at a very very low barely audible volume.  Bizarre...
I've updated the BIOS, did all the Windows updates, etc., tried 12 different Conexant HD audio drivers, nothing works.  No change.  I'm thinking hardware issue at this point?
I don't want to trash this laptop but I need the speakers to be working!
    Help and new suggestions welcome!

  • No Speaker Audio But Headphone Audio's OK

The audio on my  two month old A505-S6025 Win-7 Pro worked well yesterday. When I turned it on today the speaker audio was not working. I checked the Headphone audio and it is OK. I know of nothing I did that would have turned the speakers off and I can;t find any setting that is not enabled for them.
Action Center "couldn't identify the problem."
Anyone have any instructive comments to fix this?
    Thanks

Off and then On again.   Don't know why... did not change anything... just shut it down normally and the speaker audio returned when I turned the laptop on the next time I needed it.   No idea what the issue was but at least it is running OK... For now, at least.

  • No sound from right speaker on Pavilion g6-1353ea after installing Windows 8

I've had no sound from right speaker on my HP Pavilion g6-1353ea after installing Windows 8. I've checked all drivers, and have done the sound test in sound properties (left speaker beeps fine, but then nothing from the right). Anyone else having this problem/found a solution?!

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59001-59500/sp59154.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio in both speakers.

I understand from your post that you have sound in the right speaker but not the left. The two main reasons for this would be that the speaker has failed or your system is configured incorrectly.
Have you ran the HP Support Assistant  to aid with HP updates and fixing issues?
Have you tried running  MS Fix It to help with difficulties?
Have you tried Using automated troubleshooting (Windows 8)?

  • Right channel headset speaker audio very feable

Recently I noticed that sometimes when I boot into my Arch linux, I find the audio very much faint in the right channel of the headset. The left channel is loud and clear. I tried with another good headset. Even with that the right channel audio is very low. My laptop has two audio jacks for headsets. The behaviour is the same in both the audio jacks.
However, there are no issues with the laptop inbuilt speakers. The problem only comes with a headset. I have done 'speakertest' to make sure that it is not the issue with the media player I am using.
The problem will disappear when I restart my machine. But will suddenly come in some random day. And I will have to restart to get that fixed. Is there a way to fix it once and for all?

... any way to "unlock" the left channel?
    Head phones or external speakers.
    The "latest version"
    b does
provide sound to both left and right side through the head phones jack or via the USB port if you use USB speakers.
You are correct that Apple keeps one speaker quiet on the laptop to reduce speaker feedback to the microphone given the physical size of Mac laptops.

  • External speaker audio quality

I find that the audio quality from the external speaker on my Touch is very poor.
I don't have to turn the volume up very much before the sound starts to become distorted. Anything close to half of the full volume or higher, the distortion is so bad it's not even worth listening to.
This problem is most noticeable when using the external speaker to listen to music. I don't notice it when listening to audio from a video on YouTube.
I realize that this speaker must be extremely small and that the audio won't be the greatest but, just wondering if this is a common characteristic or if it's a problem with my unit.

P Fleming wrote:Anything close to half of the full volume or higher, the distortion is so bad it's not even worth listening to.
It's still better than nothing. It beats having to dig out the headphones or speakers when you don't have it plugged in.

  • No sound from left speaker on Pavilion DV7-3128CA laptop

I have a DV7 laptop that I purchased in May 2010.  I have always used headphones for this laptop.  Over the last few months, I had trouble getting audio from the left side of the headphones.  Usually I just adjusted the headphone cord and the problem went away.  As time progressed, it became increasingly difficult to get audio, but i figured it was just a loose connection on my headphones.  .  I then tried a different set of headphones in both headphone terminals and the same result, minimal audio at best.  It seems the right hand speaker on the jack is perfect, music and DVD's, it is just the left side of the audio on the headphone jacks.  Any suggestions?

  • Burning more than one copy wont burn right speaker audio?

    hey guys
    im about to throw up
i jus spent hours on end working on making multiple dvds...i just burned FORTY! i made a cover case printed out in high def for each one, and a dvd disc cover lable print out
after making 40 dvds i get a call from one of my friends saying how in a whole submenu full of 10 videos, the backround music wasnt playing!!
my first dvd i burned i did test out...it did have the backround music...i just clicked done after my project, and viewed in idvd the project...it had the backround audio
for all of the videos in that submenu...all the backround audio played in the right speaker
after my first dvd (which worked) it asked if i want to burn another
i put another disc in and kept goin thru that process
i didnt know that the other 39 didnt give out any backround music
its wierd because on my tv, i hear them talking in both speakers, (with no audio)
and on the computer talking on just the left and music ont he right
well i just wasted a whole bunch of cash and time
i really didnt expect that to happen. i want to save image to disc but i dont have space for that...the only thing filling up my hardrive is footage...
**lets say i delete capture scratch...will that make my exported quicktime .mov file become OFFLINE and unable to use??**
what should i do? please help im now leaving in less than 24 hours and buggin out!

Sorry you have run into such a problem
This is exactly why all of us recommended that you do a 'Save as disk image' BEFORE burning to disk. It is exactly the same process, takes up the same amount of space and will allow you to identify potential problems before you waste disks. Once the disk image is created, you can play it back on your computer to be sure everything is ok. Then, when you actually burn the disk, using DIsk Utility, it takes only a fraction of the time because all the encoding is already done.
See Len Goff's explanation here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=914789&tstart=0
At this point, you can still do the save as disk image from your iDVD project. It will probably take as long as the first burn. Open iDVD and go to the menu bar at the top of your screen. Under 'Advanced' select 'Delete Encoded assets' to clear your project of the prior encoding.
Now go to File/Save as Disk image and let the image be created to your desktop. Go to sleep. Hopefully it will be ok and play back fine. (You use DVD Player for this). Once you are sure that the disk image is ok, you can then do the burn from Disk Utility. Set the burn speed to 1x, 2x, or 4x. Don't go faster than that. Be sure to use a good brand of disk, like Verbatim DVD-R.
Since you are so short on time, if the disk image is ok, burn some of your disks, and keep the disk image on your computer for burning more later.

  • Very low speaker audio!

I just bought a L505-S5964 laptop and it has next to NO volume. Why even put speakers on this laptop if they don't put out anything. Anyone else having this problem?

Yes the sound is very bad/low right out of the box with these Toshiba L505 series laptops that use the Realtek HD Audio Drivers. Its not clear where the problem lies; Realtek, Microsoft (since I don't have trouble with the Realtek HD audio on a different computer under Windows XP, only with Windows 7 on an L505 series laptop), or with Toshiba ( a possible design flaw with the computer).
Here's one suggested fix that works for many of us who experience the low sound issues on laptops which use the Realtek HD Audio drivers. These directions are for Windows 7, other operating systems may require a slightly different set of steps.
First, Download and install the latest Realtek HD Audio drivers from the Realtek website. If the ".exe" or executable file version of the Realtek HD audio driver is downloaded, this file may need to be run twice (run installer, reboot computer, run the installer a second time, then reboot the computer a second time) to properly install the audio driver.
Second, once the audio drivers have been updated, enable "Loudness Equalization" on either the Start --> Control Panel --> Hardware and Sound --> Realtek HD Audio Manager --> Sound Effects tab, then click OK to save the setting change. Or on the Start --> Control Panel --> Hardware and Sound --> Sound --> Speaker Properties (select Speakers then the Properties button) --> Enhancements tab, scroll down the list of sound effects to enable "Loudness Equalization" then select the OK button to save the setting changes.
Once the Realtek drivers have been updated and the "Loudness Equalization" has been enabled the system sound audio level is much louder, however the DVD and Audio CD audio levels might continue to be low for some users. Some find that setting the Equalizer, found under the Realtek HD Audio Manager Sound Effects tab or on the Speaker Enhancement tab, to "Powerful" seems to help with the sound levels.

  • No Audio (Pavilion dv5-2070us)

    Hi,
There is no audio coming from my laptop. I recently had my cooling fan replaced. Could this have messed around with the audio?
    Product name: Pavilion dv5 -2070us
    Product number: WQ744UA

    Hi Millie,
In this case I dont think this is a software issue but before you take the computer back to staples, try to install the Sound drivers for your computer from the HP website.
    The link is given below
    Sound Driver
Try this out. If this doesnt work, contact staples and inform them about this issue.
    Let me know what happens

  • Connect 27" iMac to audio equipment WITHOUT losing built-in speaker audio.

Is it possible to connect my 27" Intel iMac to audio equipment (receiver, pre-amp, integrated amp, speakers) WITHOUT losing the audio from the built-in speakers (they make a nice center channel)? If so, how? Are there USB or FireWire devices that do the job?
    Thanks!

If you are playing music via iTunes using AirTunes and an Airport Express you can otherwise I don't know. I've been doing that for about 2 years and it works fine.
