When i woke up this morning, I found out that my speakers and headsets are both playing at the same time. It did not do this before and I've been really stumped in finding a fix. I have gone through most the the related threads about this online but none of the fixes have worked for me not even system restore.

    Hi percepter,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you have developed a problem with your speakers and your headphones for your HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC. I will try my best to help you with this.
I suggest following the steps in this document for Troubleshooting Sound Problems with External Speakers and Headsets in Windows 7 for preforming a Windows sound test, to see what is causing this issue.
I hope this helps, please let me know how it goes.

  • Swithing between Speakers and Headset

I have a computer with a ZxR installed and have set it up to work with a Tactic3d headset. What is the quickest and easiest way to switch between the headset and a pair of external speakers? How should I attach the speakers and what Windows 8.1 driver and SoundBlaster driver settings should I use?

Plug your speakers into the soundcard as usual.
use the front mounted headphone socket on the fromt of the X-Fi I/O unit to connect your headset and set the control panel to automatically mute your speakers when the headset is connected. Your speakers will mute when the headset is plugged in and all you have to do is plug or unplug the headset at the front to switch modes!...Now please do not ask about doing the same with your mike connector!! see other thread by me!! p.s creative do ship a /4" to 3.5mmm adapter with the card.

  • Connecting speakers and headset together on Qosmio G30

My question is, if it is possible to use two different audio out on Qosmio G30. It has two connectors, but seems to be connected together. I want to use my Qosmio with virtual DJ, one audio channel for speakers and one for preparing music (for headset). I want to have one music on speakers and one on headset for better mixing.
Is this possible, or must I buy one more external audio card? Is this inside audio card two channels or not?
    Thanks

    Hello
I have made follow test: Qosmio G30 connected to LCD TV. One headphone port connected to TV and second one to my headphones. On both sides I have had sound (the same music). After changing ports the sound was still there.
I can say follow: You can hear just the same music on both ports at the same time but if you want to use two different things I think you must buy some external solution.

  • Sound from both speakers and headset! How to fix?

Hi I've had this problem since buying my laptop early last year; whenever I skype call, all other sounds except for my call itself comes out through the speaker. Due to my mic being internal I am then forced to play games without sound and am unable to watch videos/ movies  whilst skyping. I have googled this, and it appeared people has had identical issues in the past. However, the remedy for this issue does not work for me. I go into: Tools -> Options -> Audio Settings; but there is not option for Headphones/ Speaker. It only has speakers and headphones separately for me. Please help me as I have been unable to play games with sound/ watch videos for the past year while in skype (Which is extremely frequent). Thanks

    Hello Terry
What is the exact model of your HP Pavilion 20? If you are unsure you can use the article: How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Also what operating system are you using and how are your speakers and headphones connected? What program are you playing the music from?

  • Switch between speakers and headset on X-

I've got X-Fi Fatalty FPS edition and desperately need to find a way to switch between headset and speakers. Especially since I use teamspeak a lot in games and don't want my speakers to echo while I'm talking.
There is an option to mute speakers when the headphone jack is connected, but that requires me to reconnect the headphone plug each time I want to use them.
There must be a switch to turn only the speakers off manually as well?
With Soundblaster Li've! Digital, this problem was easily solved by switching between digital mode on and off, as my speakers were connected digitally and my headset on analog.
But with X-Fi, there's no way to turn off the digital speakers alone.
    Please help.

  • Computer speakers and headset

My desktop gets sound only from the speakers I have, and when i try to plug headphones into the desktop, no sound is heard, only in the speakers, now if I buy a headset, which as microphone and earphone ability, now if I plug it into either my speaker or desktop, I'll probably only be able to hear or talk, is that true? I don't want to spend money and have to return it.

    Hmmmmmmmmmm
Is this a RealTek sound card built into the computer ?
Its my experience that you can only utilize one jack , front or back panel jacks at a time.......

  • HP 2000 no speakers or headset plugged in

I am using an HP 2000-2d70NR running windows 7 64 bit os.  The laptop came with Windows 8 and I removed that drive and installed a new drive with Win 7.  I've had no problems for 4 months.
Earlier this week, I lost sound.  No updates that I know of.  No changes or new software.  My sound icon has an X on it and the message "No speakers or headphones are plugged in".  I've run the internal diagnostics and they detect no error.  When I go to playback devices, it only shows 1-Digital DIsplay Audio "AMD High Definition Audio Device not plugged in."  There is no longer an option to click on the internal speakers.
I've read several posts on this forum to uninstall the IDT driver and reinstall.   I've tried several drivers with no luck.  I've completely reinstalled Win 7  and receive the same error.  Finally, I put the original Win8 drive back in the laptop but it still tells me "no speakers or headphones are plugged in".
Not sure where to go now.  My computer is still under warrantee.  I tried to open a case and get service as I suspect a hardware problem, however HP immediately closed the case and told me to go to the forums!?!
    I'd appreciate some help.

    Hello disgrntld,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand there is no audio coming from the computer. Before anything else, I would suggest a manual uninstall and reinstall of the sound driver:
    1. Go into Device Manager, then "Sound, video and game controllers".
    2. Look for the Audio driver. Right-click on it and select "Uninstall". Do not restart the computer.
    3. Restart the computer. It will force the computer to detect the hardware and install an appropriate driver.
Please let me know your results. Thanks!

  • How do I get my speakers and Fatal1ty HS-1000 USB to run at the same time?

I am having trouble running both my speakers and Fatal1ty HS-1000 USB headset at the same time. Sometimes I like to take off my Fatal1ty HS-1000 USB headset and listen to my music really loud with my 5.1 system, but now I would have to unplug the Fatal1ty HS-1000 USB headset from the back.
So when I play WoW I have to plug my Fatal1ty HS-1000 USB headset back in and go back and forth when I want to listen to music loud and play WoW.
I installed the the drivers with the audio panel.

  • Connecting 2.0 speakers and heads

    Hi there
Im having the connection blues with my newly aquired Audigy 2 ZS.
I want to have both my 2.0 speakers and headset (Headphones and mic) connected at the same time. What I WOULD prefer was to be able to connect the front speak/mic connections from the pc case to the soundboard, but that seems not to be possible at all.
Please correct me if Im wrong though
The alternati've is to connect the speakers to line out , the headphones to line out 2 and the mic to the mic in connector. But how do I then configure the software to put out the signal on both connectors?
Please help me, Im having the connection blues...
    Cheers. Peter

    Hi
Reading up on other posts on the same topic somewhat yielded that answer as well...
I cant say much else that Im really disapointed.
Most motherboards with onboard sound having the ability to do this out of the box, yet a very expensi've, apparently defacto standard, stand alone soundcard dont support this VERY basic feature?
Im in the market for something else then, sad sad product this is...
    Cheers. Peter.
The standard basic feature is to use audio output device with the sound card. So what's wrong with that? Even with onboard sound, they have only output jack for device at the rear. If you are referring to the pc case front jack, you could always get the platinum version of the sound card to do the same too. Anyway, using splitter is the best and most easy way in my opinion too. Alternati'vely, you can set the speaker to 4/4. in setting. Connect the headphone to the lineout 2 on the card, go to eax console and enable stereo surround cmss.

  • I have an iPhone 5 and with any pair of earphones that I plug in the sounds comes out of the speakers and not the earphones

I have an iPhone 5 and with any pair of earphones that I plug in the sounds comes out of the speakers and not the earphones
The problem occurred a few days after I had updated to iOS 7.02

    Hey Tahls23!
I have an article that can help you troubleshoot that issue:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
    No sound through stereo headset
Inspect the headset jack for debris and clean if necessary.
Connect the headset and make sure the connector is pushed in all the way.
Check the volume setting. Adjust the volume by pressing the volume up and down button on the left side of the iPhone.
If you are trying to listen to music and cannot hear any audio, make sure that the music on iPhone is not paused. Try squeezing the headset microphone to resume playback. Additionally, from the Home screen you can choose iPod > Now Playing, then tap Play.
Make sure the latest version of iTunes is installed on the computer that you are syncing the iPhone with (songs purchased from the iTunes Store using earlier versions of iTunes won't play).
Try another Apple headset (some third-party headsets require an adapter to be used with original iPhone).
Try a different song or video.
Check to see if the iPhone alert sounds or other iPhone sound effects exhibit the same audio issues.
Disconnect the headset from the iPhone and see if sound comes from the built-in speaker.
Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

  • I have a macbook pro4.1 and the sound chip in it failed. My speakers and microphone no longer work. Does anyone know of an external speaker and microphone set that plugs into the USB port so I can continue to use both of these functions?

I have a macbook pro4.1 and the sound chip in it failed. My speakers and microphone no longer work. Does anyone know of an external speaker and microphone set that plugs into the USB port so I can continue to use both of these functions and not have to pay to have the entire main board replaced. Preferably something under $100.

I don't think you're likely to find a set of external speakers that come with a microphone and plug directly into a USB port. There are USB audio cards that look like tiny flash drives but have microphone and headphone ports in them, to which you can connect a typical two-plug Windows PC headset with a microphone, or else you can connect external speakers and a stand-alone microphone. Those adapters typically cost under $10. I don't know anything about the quality of sound that can be expected from them.
I have a Griffin iMic, which is much the same idea but larger, a bit more expensive (retail~$40), and perhaps delivers somewhat better sound quality (I hope so, but I don't know because I've never had occasion to try one of the little ones).

  • Laptop thinks there is a headset plugged in so speakers do not work, win7.

DV7 Win7, no sound from speakers, thinks there is still a headset plugged in.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55094.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • New headset, but certain programs are transmitting sound through speakers and not headphones.

    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
    Hello,
    Hello,
I just recently purchased a new headset for gaming but have been having some issues with it and the system sound. One major issue is when I call someone on skype, the sound from Skype or the call will go through the headphones, but any other audio comes out of the speakers. I have also notices that iTunes also does not function when I am in a call as well. Some examples would be if I were to want to watch a YouTube video while in a call, the sound would come through the speakers and not the headphones. However, I did find a fix for it. All I had to do was disable the main speakers and the audio was transmitted to the headphones. Another example would be if I wanted to run games via Steam (Garry's Mod, TF2, ect.), I wouldn't get any sound whatsoever from the game. Not through my speakers or headphones. With one exception, Garry's Mod volume I can hear through the speakers while in a Skype call, but I want the sound to come through the headphones. But with TF2, I get no sound whatsoever. If you need any more information about my issue, please feel free to ask. Thank you.

    Hello @LayneStaley,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I have read your post on how certain programs are transmitting sound through speakers and not the headphones, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To ensure that your headphones are utilized when plugged into your notebook, I recommend following the steps below:
    1. Click the Start button
    2. Click Control Panel
    3. Click on Hardware and Sound (sorting the control panel icons by "category"), and then click on Sound
    4. Under Playback, you should see one or two speaker icons. One of them should already have a green checkmark next to it (which will be your notebook's main speakers). If the second Speakers icon is not visible, right-click in the list of devices and select Show Disabled Devices
    5. A second, disabled icon of "speakers" should appear. Right-click this icon and click Enable
    6. Select the newly enabled speaker device, right-click it, and select "Set as Default Device".
    7. Click Apply.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!
