No speakers audio DM4-1060us

About a month ago I suddenly stopped getting audio I from my laptop speakers. I was still getting audio from the headphone jack and HDMI.
I thought it was an issue caused by windows update so I tried to check for the latest audio drivers.
I had the latest so I went to HP drivers page and downloaded the original drivers. I installed the IDT HD drivers, did the restart and nothing changed, I was still having the same problem.
I tried to disable the “audio device” and device manager, uninstalled it, re-enable it, reinstalled it, but nothing happed, changed the default communications device. I thought the speakers were either burned or gone.
To test for hardware I run a live Ubuntu 8.10 64bits and to my surprise they worked. The generic drivers did work!
I proceeded then to do a clean installation of Windows installing the corresponding drivers. I finished installing the Intel HD graphics controller and then the IDT. The speakers were not working. Did windows update again restarted the laptop several times and still have the same problem. Windows and the Controls IDT audio settings don’t detect any errors. Headphones and Bluetooth speakers work just fine.
Today I was playing with the Controls IDT audio settings while I was listening to music using my headphones. On the “Communications headphones” I did a “test speakers”. I heard a hissing noise on the headphones and music on the speakers. Windows sound tones also work when I do the speakers test on the headphones.
Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

    Hello Achates:
I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.

dm4-1060us laptop SD Card Reader 5-in-1 question. Does it work with SDHC and SDXC memory cards?

This cart reader is a kind of multi card reader and you can use different cards with it. In my opinion every multi device should be used very, but very gently. I do not know what happened exactly in your case but maybe you have damaged something inside.
Try to restart your notebook and use other SD card to check if everything works well. Please do it very gently and if you see something is wrong stop with inserting the card.
I use 1 GB SD card on my A200 without any problems.
In my opinion you should check notebook by technician.
    Bye and good luck!

  • Speakers / audio not recognised / not available (cups permission issue?)

    Hi,
I've reposted here due to no replies in Account / Login.
I upgraded to Leopard a while back and have had multiple issues regarding syslog eating my cpu etc. One of the other odd issues is that almost every other time I restart or startup the computer, the audio input / output's aren't recognised. I assumed this was a software issue as I had it hardware checked by Apple but they didn't find anything wrong. I've just reinstalled Leopard and everything was fine. I then used migration assistant to bring everything over. Next time I started up, no sound. The sys log is below:

    Any ideas?
It seems to be related to this:
Group differs on "private/etc/cups", should be 0, group is 26.
On permission verify in Disk Utility, this comes up every time speakers / audio isn't recognised. On repair and restart, speakers work. I don't want to do this every time I startup though.

  • External speakers - audio out not working

I have these old Creative speakers with a subwoofer that I often use with my macpro laptop.
I just bought a 4K Mac Pro tower, and on the back, I see two similar jacks, one of them with a little speaker icon, which I assume, means thats where I should plug the speakers in.
I plug my speakers in there and they don't work. I plugged my speakers into the little jack next to it, and it still didn't work. I did this extensively. Stupidly, even.
I plug my speakers in the headphone jack on the front and they work just fine.
The speakers have always worked, we used to use them as part of our home stereo system, and they were plugged into an audio out jack. I've never had a problem with them.
Is there something wrong with the audio out jack on the back of the tower? Is there a way to fix this? A driver? Software? It's not a huge deal, but I would rather keep ugly cables behind my computer.
    Thanks!

Do you know if there is a way to have the sound output coming from both analog audio outputs at the same time - from the headphone jack and the back jack? I'm amazed you can't have both working at the same time.
    With Audio Hijack Pro
    <http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/>
you can take the output from any application, or all system output, and use the "Auxiliary Device Output" effect to send it to a second output device.

  • Speakers/audio

I have the K7N420 and am currently running cheap desktop speakers ($9.99 and 3 watts each). I want to upgrade my speakers to something under $50 with between 3 to 5 speakers, including the sub.  I also am using the on board audio which i have heard is good. The only thing is I noticed that there is no digital connections for speakers, only the analog 2.5mm or 3.5mm jack which ever size it is.(doesnt matter) is this how everyone elses came? the reason I ask is because I have noticed some speakes come with RCA cables instead of the regular jack. I also am wondering how I can run 3 to 5 speakers off of the one jack. do they come with a y converter of some sort? I basically need all info on setting up the speakers on my computer, if there is a link you can refer me to (The Idiots Guide to Setting Up Speakers on a Computer) or if you can break it down for me it would be great.  Thanks.

  • AirPlay Speakers audio syncing and other issues.

For awhile I have been having a lot of issues with AirPlay Speakers (that is, sending the audio from my Apple TV to my AirPort Express while syncing the video). These include:
Almost any app can have the audio go out of sync with the video. This usually can be fixed by pausing and playing again.
WatchABC Live repeating commercials and not going back to the show. (ABC 7 WABC NY on Optimum)
Certainly not the worst issue to have, but Hulu Plus will skip most commercials.
And now, Showtime Anytime is guaranteed to have the audio go out of sync for both live and on demand shows and it will not go back to normal unless I switch to my TVs speakers.
These issues have occurred since I had a 2nd gen Apple TV, and now I have a 3rd gen (Rev. A) with Apple TV version 6.2. The AirPort Express (802.11n 2nd gen) is right next to the Apple TV and connected to my AirPort Extreme via Ethernet, extending the network. I have tried connecting via Ethernet and it only seemed to lessen the issues slightly.

    Chris,
I also own a T400 and had huge issues with skipping audio. Try the following:
    1) Uninstall Intel Storage Manager and let Vista use the default driver for disc controller (I presume yours is by default in AHCI mode just as mine was).
    2) Then go to Control Panel -> Sound, select Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 and after clicking on Options, select Disable all enhancements under Enhancements tab (this is a time-proven trick I learned while using a Dell at work).
Pls let me know it this works for you.

  • Audio output changed to 'Digital Out' and speakers don't work! Please help!

I'm not exactly sure what's happened, but after starting up my macbook pro, my speakers/audio haven't worked.
The volume control in the menu bar is inactive (looks light grey) and in the Sound menu, I have no option for output devices except for 'Digital Out' - there is no other option for 'external speakers' (as per usual) or anything!
I can plug earphones in, and sound comes out fine... I don't know what may have happened, but I'm really worried - I use my MBP for home & work; I need my speakers to work!!
If anyone can offer any advice, I'd be really grateful. Thank you in advance.

Talked to Tech Support about this when my machine locked up in this same fashion. There's a little "door" inside the headphone jack that can get stuck in the open position and keep the audio from switching back to the internal speakers / stuck in the digital (optical) output position...
The solution: the iPick... It's a toothpick, but if you use it to poke around inside the headphone jack until the little door gets unstuck, it becomes an iPick, and a box of them are very expensive, but they come in lovely colors and are very intuitive to use...
I'm not kidding... Stick a toothpick (or other non-conductive small stick) in the headphone jack and joog it around until it releases the little door...

  • "Peggle" audio comes out internal speakers instead of externals

Here's a weird one- last week I was working between my mac pro and a mac mini I had bought and was configuring for a friend. I borrowed the internet, mouse/keyboard, speakers, and one monitor from my dual monitor set up on the mac pro tower in order to configure the mac mini. While it was doing software update, I borrowed the keyboard and mouse, came back over to the mac pro, and played some Peggle- popcap games' wonderfully addictive arcade game. Since there were no external speakers, audio was temporarily routed to the internals on the mac pro.
When all was said and done with the mac mini, I reconnected everything, and for some reason, the music from peggle still plays out of the internal speakers. everything else on my computer: warning noises, the audio buttons, audio from other programs, even the SFX audio from peggle play through the line out on the back of the computer, but the music audio plays through the internals.
I went into system preferences --> audio and made sure everything was set to audio line out, and I deleted and reinstalled peggle, losing all my progress in the game, but still when i reinstalled it, same issue. If, however, I route all the audio through the audio headphone jack on the front of the computer, i can get music and sfx to come out of my external speakers, but as soon as I go back to the rear output, peggle's music goes right back to internal speakers.
I contacted popcap games, and they basically told me to delete everything peggle- system folders and all, and reinstall. I did that, but am having the same issue. Any ideas? anyone experience something similar? Help!!!

I can't speak to the specific case of Peggle, but you will want to make sure to delete any preference files associated with the game. Check in the /Users/your name/Library/Preferences folder for any files which contain the names "peggle" or "popcap", and delete any such files. You will, of course, lose any saved data associated with the games.

  • Audio From Speakers Keeps Skipping and Stuttering on HP ENVY 15-j185nr

Hi I have a HP ENVY 15-j185nr and My speakers audio keeps skipping and stuttering and i can see in the beats audio control panel that it fluctuates in the levels between the Bass and Treble and also The Volume. Now When I connect my Beats Wireless Headphones to My Computer i have no problem with the audio on the bluetooth side but when i connect the headphones on the wired side and plug it into the computer audio jack the audio is playing from both headphones and speakers and it is STILL skipping and Stuttering. My Computer OS was 8.1 Enterprise when this Problem Occured and since then I've updated to Windows 10 Enterprise by Doing a clean install hoping that this will fix the problem but it didn't After i updated my windows OS I can now see in the Device Manager in the Sound, Video and Game Controllers Category that my High Definition Audio Device have a yellow triangle exclamation point icon under it and its device status says This device cannot start. (Code 10) {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful. The driver version is 10.0.10240.16384 and The drver date is Thursday July 9. 2015.  i've uninstalled and resinstalled the driver numerous times and the exclamation icon is still there and i wanted to know is it a Hardware problem or a Driver Problem?. Is this a simple fix or do i have to take it in and get it fix by a computer tech? can anybody please help me?

    Hi,
    Try the following
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.
    Chipset Driver - Windows 8.1
When the reinstallation has completed, shut down the notebook by holding down the Shift key as you click Shutdown to temporarily prevent a hybrid boot.  Then unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • New audio board (c/o applecare) not recognized

I just got my computer back from the shop with a new audio board, but the system doesn't seem to be recognizing it. Is there anything I can try to get the system to 'try harder' and maybe pick up the connection before I make the trek back to the apple store?
Symptoms: no audio out (speakers/audio out jack), if I try to change the volume I get a 'no entry' symbol below the normal symbols, and the hardware list states:
    Intel High Definition Audio:
    Device ID: 0x106B00A0
    Audio ID: 0
    Thanks.

Try doing a Parameter RAM reset - hold down command/option/p/r keys at start up and wait for three chimes before releasing the keys.
See if there's a red light (digital audio signal) coming from the socket, if so insert/remove a headphone jack a few times while wiggling it to switch it back to analogue mode.
Run Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup and see what it shows for Output options.
But I think you need to take it back ...

  • Speakers only play when headphones are plugged in.

My internal speakers only play when the headphones are plugged in. (System preferences-Sound tells me I'm using Internal Speakers, audio port for sound input).  When I remove the headphones, the red light in the jack goes on and the computer says I'm using Digital Out ("The selected device has no output controls.)
I have read many community responses, most saying that the switch inside the headphone jack hasn't engaged, that I should fiddle with it using a paperclip/bobbypin/toothpick or just plug-in and unplug headphones repeatedly.  I have repeatedly both of these to no avail.  When fiddling, I don't really know which bump inside there is the switch, I've played with them all.
No, it's not dirty, I've blowin air, vaccuumed, dusted. Same problem.
I do use my speakers often for work and pleasure, go between different external speakers and a projector.
It seems that the computer has things backwards- headphones unplugged is pluged and vice versa.
Any suggestions or clear guidance as to what I should be fiddling with when I stick a bobby pin in there?  No need to refer me to old posts, I've read them.
    Thanks in advance,
    TheKip

Did you check the headphone port for any kind of debris or lint?
Did you already try another set of headphones? Are you suing the headphones that came with the phone?
Is the headphone jack plugged in fully into the headphone port?

  • Audio does not come out of my left speak

    Hello,
I just installed a fresh installation of Vista two days ago.
When I installed it, I had a Sound Blaster Li've! 5. card in my machine, and the card did not work until I installed KM audio drivers (which made only the 2 rear speakers work).
Today I went out and bought the X-Fi Xtreme Audio card.
The installation appeared to work, and I installed the Vista drivers from www.soundblaster.com.
When I go to audio management, and test the speakers, audio comes out of all 5.
BUT - when Windows Media Player, MediaSource 5, and any other system sound plays... my front left and rear left speakers do not play a thing.
I know they are working, because when I tried the surround audio from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/democenter/9series/avquality/wmapromp3/default.htm
they all played, but when I played stereo... it only came out of front right and rear left.
ALSO - I can't seem to find the Entertainment Mode, and some other features advertised on the box and guide that came with the CD.
Does anybody know what I can do to fix these issues? Help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Anthony Coy

    Hello, Alexander meerkat.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would start with resetting the System Management Controller.  Here is the article on how to process these steps.

  • Update to OS X 10.10.3 breaks headphone audio on MBPR

After update OS X Yosemite to 10.10.3 I have an issue with headphones audio. Speakers audio is OK. This happens on a MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013.
The exact issue is that when I plugin my EarPods in to the stereo jack on the left side I hear for about a second the sound is OK, then I hear popping in the right headphone and then the right one is very quite. The left one is OK.
This doesn't not happen on my bootcamp windows on the same Mac.
Resetting the PRAM and SMC did not help.
Do you guys have any ideas or has anyone else faced the same issue?

I just experienced this same problem this morning.  Does anyone have a fix?  I have checked all of the sound settings, settings for the headphone port, as well as resetting the NVRAM.  None of it has helped.

  • Audition CS6 Mac Won't Play Audio Interface Preference Issue

Hi Im having some problems with Audition CS6 mac. I have the full master collection and only encounter this issue with Audition.
    On my Macbook pro
I use my internal speakers/audio or a vrm box audio interface, occasionally Ill use a fasttrack pro to record. My problem occurs after I use the audio interface. When I next open Audition set up for the built in speakers/audio and hit play, it says playing but nothing plays.
When I open Audition after using a external interface going back to my built in macbook audio I get a pop warning that:
"Your systems audio hardware settings have changed. Would you like to go review Audition's audio hardware preferences?"
I click yes,  go to that everything is set for internal mac audio,
hit play, says playing bottom left, then  just sits there.
I noticed today when it did this, that it if I go into the Audio Channel Mapping Preference, it shows what ever audio interface I used last on the output/not working on it. I am unable to change theses settings.
I reboot after changing audio interfaces, etc.
I can delete my Audition preference files in my user folder and it functions again, but that also entails rescanning all plugins which takes some time.

I just found that removing MachineSpecificSettings.xml in the user/preferences/adobe/audition/5.0/  folder will get it to play again under the internal audio settings. And when I look at channel mapping it shows the internal audio.
