No Special Event Stream with QT7.1.3? Just a black pixel. :-(

hi all,
the official link to the stream of the latest Apple Special Event (http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net/sep_2006/event/index.html) doesn't work for me.
When I click the "Watch the Special Event" button, QT 7.1.3 starts but just with a 1 second lasting 1x1 black pixel.
Anybody else with this problem?
I reenabled Flash in the settings and HTTP with port 80 as protocol but that didn't help. Before the upgrade to 7.1.3 I was able to watch every Apple Event stream with no problem at all!

The firefox window opens with no icons visible, just a black window

Hi,
When I open the firefox browser the window doesn't show me any icons, it's literally a black window.
If I hover over where File or Edit buttons would be I can see a sort of shadow of the options menu that would usually appear, however there are literally no buttons or names visible. I've done the obvious; uninstalled and re-installed, restarted the computer etc.
Please help.

however with certain graphic cards & old drivers it unfortunately appears to be buggy and lead to the black screen you've observed.

Apple Special Event 2005 - Streaming

I visit the apple site to stream the video through quicktime.
And my internet just seems to stall ??.. tried this twice on mac and pc !! still manages to either my Airport/Zoom adsl mode?.... just by resetting at the wall let's me back on the net again.
But i'm still not able to view the video!... In the very same step that i use.
1. click "watch the special event"
2. 'qucicktime' loads and begins to connect.
3. 'error' bad name/request. - (Internet Crashes)
?? please help someone. just one of those things that should work.

note. i'm using latest and updated quicktimes on both mac/pc

"bad username/request" may mean that QT couldnt keep a good hook into the stream.
Oh..and it was you(!) that crashed the internet this morning?
I thought it was my cousin -- he's always bringing it down.
(As in, "Rick, I crashed the internet this morning"...I always thought it was because he was on a PC).
No wonder i couldn't get to cnn.com..

Problem DL'ing Apple Special Event September 2009

I try to download the latest episode of Apple keynotes podcast, but I keep getting the same message - "There was a problem adding "Apple Special Event September 2009" to iTunes. The file might be corrupted, or a file type that iTunes cannot play." However, I can download and play other episodes of this and some other podcasts. Actually I see this behavior for the first time since I discovered podcasts directory in iTunes Store. I am using iTunes 9 here.

Anyone, any ideas why this is happening? Am I the only one that can't download this episode?

I had been trying since it first appeared but It was there and waiting for me this morning here in the UK - iMac / OS X 10.6.
I just went and checked some other equipment :
Apple TV will still NOT stream or download it it - says "format not recognized" ...
I have an old laptop with XP on it and it won't download it either.
Looks like they are working their way through it but doing OS X first ?

Apple Special Event not working, why?

I've been trying to stream the Apple Special Event's recording from http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net/r27842e/event/index.html?test=q1wa2sz3x and I see "Live broadcast" appear, and the title of the video as "Apple Special Event" ... but I get no video or audio! I get the Quicktime Connecting / Streaming screen. This has happened with other Apple event' streams too. Anyone else having this problem?

I was not able to view the Special Event. When I clicked the link on the main Apple page QuickTime would open a tiny little window, and all I got was a white screen with a blue Q, with a loading line zipping back and forth across the screen. Other movies play fine, including the Apple movie trailers & ads, YouTube, and videos on ABC.com. I tried it with QT 7.1.6 and iTunes 7.2. Then I updated to QT 7.2 and iTunes 7.3.2 and it still doesn't work.
After reading this thread (the AD search worked today!) I tried copying and pasting the URL given here. It worked for me, too. And the QT window is about 4X the size of the one that never opened when I clicked the link.

There are basically two ways. As mentioned, you can wait and see if the Apple decides to release an iPod version which can be vied via TV. For those who are impatient and unwilling to wait, you can always use a screen capture application to "capture" a copy of the event directly from your screen. Quality will like note be as good as what Apple would like distribute via ITMS, since the streamed files are, by their very nature, packaged for moderately low data rates over the internet in multiple display formats.
Also, does Apple keep an archive of these events?
Am sure that Apple retains the raw footage, project files, as well as, master copies of all of the various distribution formats created from their project files.

Where is the 10/23/12 Special Event Podcast?

Here we go Again!
Apple had another Special Event today to announce iPad mini and other products.
Now 6:00PM (ET) and the podcast that allows me to watch the Keynote with my family on Apple TV is NOT available.
This is the 10th straight keynote where the podcast is not immediately available.
I am very aware that I can watch on my laptop!!!
Why Oh why! does every poscaster on the planet make their podcasts available to the public for viewing IMMEDIATELY after, while Apple does not!!!!

Like the stock price, my confidence in Apple (after 30 years) is dropping fast.

Today's Special Event on iPhone

Just curious: has anyone been able to view the special event via Apples websight on the iPhone?

Vernon: I have 3G service everywhere I go here In Miami and when I travel around the U.S. I have found a couple of places that does not have, so I would say that about 95% of the time I have 3G service. I don't think that the problem of not receiving 3G service has anything to to with your Apple iPhone most likely it's your service provider.

How does exactly AMS sync a video stream with another stream of audio only ?

I have the following situation: 2 instances of FMLE on one machine and another machine with AMS Starter.
The instances of the FMLE are:
1. Video H.264 + audio MP3
2. Audio only MP3 - track 1
The application on AMS is a livepkgr/_definst_ and i am using HDS with a live event
I have an OSMF based player to consume the streams and to do audio switch using late binding audio.
When I consume the Video with the Default audio everything works just fine. The problem is that when I try to consume the Video with the other audio track, the audio tack has a 1 second delay compared to the video.
I have tried to fix this by changing the configurations on the FMLE, but it doesnt seem to work. So I really want to know how does exactly AMS syncronize differents streams, in this case a video stream with a different audio stream.

First, what is the file format, and its specs. for the remote recorder?
Though the rates of modern cameras and digital recorders SHOULD match 100%, in the real-world, they seldom do. This make perfect syncing a labor intensive process.
One should do tests between the cameras and the recorders, to find out the % or error. Then, adjust their Audio to match first. As an example, one user in the PrPro Forum tested his Panasonic cameras, and his Zoom recorders, and found that the Zooms were off by 0.04% constantly. To correct this, he used the Time Remapping (with Maintain Pitch checked), and would apply that adjustment to all of the Zooms' files - perfect sync.
As for the Waveform not displaying for your remote recorder, did you allow those files to completely Conform (creation of the CFA and PEK files, the latter is the Waveform Display)? See this article: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/726693?tstart=30
Also, you should be able to increase the vertical zoom of your Audio Tracks, and hence any Clips on them, by hovering the Cursor over the junction between Tracks, in the Track Header, and when it turns into a = sign, with up/down arrows, click+drag. Then, you should be able to find commonality in the beginning, to sync up to. Tip: for this critical work, toggle the Snap feature OFF, with the S key.

MAX 2006 Special Event? (O/T)

Sorry for the O/T post.
I just went to register for MAX. I am bringing my wife for
the first time, and was looking forward to seeing what Adobe had
for this year's special event. However, the registration form says
it's $425 (!!!) for a guest pass to this event. Seeing as they
don't tell you what the event is, that seems exceptionally steep to
take a gamble (pardon the pun) on.
I went to the Allaire conference in D.C. in 2000. The special
event there was a cocktail party. I went to DevCon 2002 in Orlando,
where the special event was Universal Studios. I went last year,
where the special event was Disney's California Adventure. All were
fun, for sure, but I'd never spend $425 to go.
Does anyone have any idea on what this year's event is? Is it
worth $425?!?

Wow! That is pretty steep. They usually don't announce the
venue till the last minute, but you'd think with that price, they
might want o to provide justification. It won't hurt to write the
conference organizers and ask: [email protected] Post again if
you find out anything.

my coworkers iphone 5 loads it fine

Strange behaviour of iPad Photos app/My Photo Stream with iOS 8.1 and Yosemite

My requirement is surely simple and commonplace, yet is proving impossible to achieve thanks to Apple's weird design of the Photos app and the way My Photo Stream works. I'm very technically savvy, but I'm quite prepared to admit I'm being stupid if someone can explain what I'm doing wrong! I have an iPad Air running iOS 8.1 and a MacBook Pro Retina with OS X 10.10 (Yosemite). I've enabled iCloud Drive on both. iPhoto on the Mac is at v9.6.
I have a selection of 109 photos from a recent holiday in a folder on my MacBook, which I would like in a folder on my iPad as a nice way to show them to friends. iTunes may work but seems so incredibly clunky and old-fashioned I hoped I could do it over the network or via the cloud. I would use (and often have used) Dropbox, which is reliable and logical but rather tedious as you have to save each photo one by one.
So, with a little research and playing around, I found that I could get them to the iPad using iPhoto on the Mac, with My Photo Stream enabled. However, it doesn't seem to work. The photos were all created yesterday so had yesterday's date (I'd removed EXIF data that contained various earlier dates).
I've just done the following test:
I deleted all photos from the iPad (using the Photos app)
On the Mac, I deleted all photos from iPhoto
In iPhoto Preferences on the Mac, I turned on “My photo stream”, with the two sub-options also enabled
I imported the 109 photos into iPhoto
On the iPad, in My Photo Stream, I saw the photos gradually appear over the next few minutes
A minute or two later, when no more seemed to coming, I found that 103 of the original 109 were in My Photo Stream. So, strangely, 6 photos were missing
Even stranger, in the “Photos” tab, under “Yesterday” 37 of them could be seen. If I understand this correctly (which I may not), that means 37 of them had been copied from the My Photo Stream to the iPad itself. Am I right? Why only 37?
On the iPad, I added a new Album called Summer 2014
I selected all 103 photos from My Photo Stream to add to the album
In the Summer 2014 album, I briefly see “103 Photos” at the bottom of the album, but this quickly changes to 66 as photos that briefly appeared now disappear, leaving only 66 left in the album
Checking in Photos/Collections/Yesterday, I find there are now 66 photos (rather than 37 as there were earlier) - the same ones that are showing in my Summer 2014 album.
If I attempt to manually add any of the missing photos to the album, nothing happens - the album refuses to allow any more than the 66 it has.
In iPhoto on the Mac, if I click on the SHARED/iCloud entry on the left, I see all 109 photos, which I think means iPhoto has correctly shared them all, so I suspect the problem is with the iPad.
Yesterday, when I was playing with this, the album allowed 68 photos. I tried deleting one and adding one of the missing photos, but it wouldn't allow this either, so I don't think it's objecting to the number of photos so much as disliking particular ones.
I've got 7.7GB free space on the iPad so I don't think it's a space issue.
Can anyone help? If it's a bug in iOS, iCloud or OS X, how can I report it, given that I'm out of my 3 months support for both my machines?

Well done lumacj! This is a good workaround. Forgive me if I offer a simplified version here (this works if original photos are in Photo stream):
1. In "My photo stream", tap on select at top of screen
2. Tap on each photo you want to send via WhatsApp (circle with "√" shows for each photo)
3. Tap on square box with arrow at bottom of screen (Share) - NOT "Add To"
4. Tap on "Save image(s)"
5. Check that selected photos now appear on "Camera Roll"
6. From WhatsApp, send photos as you would have normally

Events problem with (Java and ActiveX)

I use an ActiveX component with Java and i've got a problem with events.
Java classes were generated with Bridge2Java (IBM).
In order to manage events I added a listener in my application :
javaMyActiveX = new MyActiveX();
javaMyActiveX.add_DMyActiveXEventsListener(new _DMyActiveXEventsAdapter());
I also added a constructor in the _DMyActiveXEventsAdapter class and I fill the body of methods.
The ActiveX generates two types of events :
- The ones are directly generated by methods.
- The others are generated by a thread.
With MS Products (VB, Visual C++, Visual J++), I catch all events.
With java (jdk 1.4), I catch only events generated by methods.
Can anyone help me.

I'm not 100% sure, but the last time I used that bridge, it only worked if you ran your Java app within a Microsoft VM.
