No spell check on Messages App?

How do I get Messages on OS X to auto complete and spell check like iMessage on iOS?

Spell Checker options crash apps

Hey all,
Im seeking a little bit of help regarding this issue. The issue only started occuring since the 4.4 update.
I personaly do not use Auto Correct options as i find them more anoying then helpfull. Instead ive always had Spell Checker turned on. As stated since updating to 4.4, if i missspell something and i get the spell checker red underline, when i tap on the word and the dropdown window pops up with suggestions and option of add to dictionary, if i select any of the recomended words 9/10 times i get a msg " Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped working". How ever this doesnt only occur with the native messaging app but rather any appl that prompts a key board.
I do not use 3rd party keyboard but have downloaded multiple to test - same issue occurs
i have so far performed a clean install without restoring any backup data 2 times - issue persists
i have ran the repair tool 2 times - issue persists
After running the repair tool and erase and installs, i did not load any of my data prior to testing so was performed in a clean environment with no 3rd party apps potentially causing this to happen.
As i mentioned previously, this happens 9/10 times and causes the complete app to close. I've been unable to find anything helpfull on forums as far and when speaking to sony tech support was advised that this is the first time the consultant has heard of this issue.
So im jut wondering if any one here has come across this issue and knows anything that may help resolve it.

I am also affected by the same bug.
I have it in the Messaging app since the last update, three days ago.
Xperia SP - Android 4.3 - Build 12.1.A.1.201 - Messaging version 12.1.A.0.12
It can be easily reproduced:
* start a new text message
* use Google TTS to type a message
* select one of the alternatives for a word (dropdown list obtained by clicking on a greyed word)
Although non critical, this is a very annoying bug, as the draft of the message is lost upon crash.
Please, Sony Android maintainers, correct the bug as quickly as possible!

Disable Spell Check for Skype APP windows 8.1

Hello
I am using the Skype App for windows 8.1. I am Spanish, but I regularly use English in my Skype conversations.
Is it even possible to turn off the spell check? I already disabled it for windows, in the PC settings but, for some reason I won't ever understand, Skype keeps correcting my words.
Please someone help me, before i throw my laptop out of the window.

It won't let me edit post for some reason.
If in some case you are satisfied with turning your keys globally, you won;t see the changes until you press ctrl +w. So correct steps for this procedure are:
You can do it via charms and disable spellcheck globally , but if you don't press ctrl-W then you return to skype, it won't show as working
If that rocks your socks then:
Launch the charms pressing Win+C.
Go to Settings and hit on Change PC settings.
Choose PC and devices and navigate to Typing.
Carry the slider right or left as you want to use the feature.
Come back to Skype and hit Ctrl+W to return to Skype Home and compel the changes to take effect.

Spell Check email messages ??

Hey all, I got my new iphone yesterday and after showing it off to the family I had some quality time with it and dug into all the features. One thing missing is spell check for email messages ? Or at least I cannot find that option. I see the word completion feature which is fine for the occasional spelling mistake but how about a real built-in spell checker?
My fat fingers are the cause of way too many spelling errors ;>

I don't believe there is a spell check.
I too am a fat finger guy and to be completely honest with you, I did what Steve told us too and I trust the keyboard. 9 out of 10 times it correctly fixes my errors. No, it's not 100% but for the most part it does exactly what it's supposed to. From what I understand, the keyboard is always learning from you, so it will pick up your most common words, slang, etc..
I think they did a very good job with it and I have far less problems typing on this than I did on my blackjack.. Those keys are WAY too small.

Select Settings
Select Language & Keyboard
Select Android Keyboard
Select Quick Fixes, Show Suggestions, and Auto Completion.

Thread Message Spell Checker

Has anyone noticed that the *_Message Spell Checker_* has a tendency to day dream? I mean sometimes it works as usual, and than there are the times when it takes an extended lunch break. Its a hit and miss, cause you never know when it is going to go on that day dream vacation.
Example, spell checked this message and here is what happended. The first word is the actual, where the second is the primary suggestion:
1) message, mass 2) checker, chance 3) dream, idea 4) lunch, much
Than other times as mentioned above, it works fine. Has anyone else noticed this irregularity?

System-wide Spell Checker Error

I newly installed Leopard on a MacBook Pro, and now in Mail, Safari and iTunes, I get a "Couldn't contact Spell Checker" error message when I try to type in these programs. The problem disappears in Mail if I set Spell Check to never in the preferences. Safari & iTunes don't have that option, that I could see.
But that's besides the point. Spell check should be seamless and automatic. The error doesn't just occur once. It basically hangs the program because the error cycles continuously and I have to force-quit to get out of the application.
So now I am using Firefox to type this because Safari wouldn't let me type without letting me know it can't contact spell checker.
To remedy the situation, I've verified and repaired permissions, although I did not see any permissions that related to this issue. I downloaded and re-installed the 10.5.1 update. No effect. I've spotlighted 'spell checker' and only gotten the .dll file from Windows as a return.
Guesses, anyone?

etresoft, thanks for the hint. I looked and found tons of stuff, but not a thing to do with the spell checker error. I did log into another profile on the affected machine and had no trouble whatsoever. Does that mean the problem is in my home/library? I think, hopefully logically, that there's another program causing this issue. What would be the logical way to approach this?

I can not open the messages app on my daughters iphone 3gs

every time you try and open the message app the screen goes blank, white for around 10 seconds then revirts to the home screen, is there anywhay of fixing this, she has 2 messages recieved but can not read them or open them.

Close out of the message app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
Then do a reset, no data loss. Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
Then check the message app again.
Hopefully you haven't restored yet.

Spell check in Mail Leopard

I accidently got some miss spelled words learned into Spell check in Mail app. On Leopard.
What can I do to correct this problem. Is there away to reset the spell checker so that miss spelled words I learned into spell checker can be eliminated?

What I found is if you highlighted the misspelled word control/right click on it and choose "Unlearn Spelling" from the menu.
You prompted me to look for a user dictionary that I can edit. I Have not yet found it.

WebAccess inline spell check

When using IE7 the inline spell check (spell checking while you type) does not work although using the spell check button does spell check the message correctly. What setting in IE7 needs to be set up to allow inline spell checking? The inline spell checking works OK in Firefox.

That's a browser feature, not a WebAccess feature. I don't believe IE
has inline spell check.

Mail spell check hangs on last misspelled word

Hi everybody,
I have a bit of a dilemma that is quite annoying, and I would love it not to be. My spell checker in Mail (OSX 10.4.10) hangs on the last word when spell checking a message. I am able to check my spelling and choose Ignore/Guess/Correct etc. but when it reaches the end of my email it stops. Spell check will identify the misspelled word, but will not allow me to make corrections or ignore the word like it used to. The familiar tone and empty spell check box is no longer to be found.
But this does work in textedit! No problems what so ever. I have tried to scour these forums and tried a few things, but still nothing. I have also noticed this problem occurs in another user account.
I have checked the Ownership and Permissions of the spell checker file, deleted preference files, re-installed Mail by itself, performed an archive and install, completely reinstalled OSX and still nothing.
So now if any of you have an idea please let me know.

Well, you should. Leaving messages on the server indefinitely may end up clogging up your mail account there and cause this kind of problems. Just specify After one week or After one month if you don't want messages to be removed from the server immediately.

Messages App Not Synching iMessages

Hi!
I've been using messages for a while now but after updating my iPhone 4s to iOS 8 Messages has stopped loading iMessages I've received.
It goes like this, I will see an iMessage has been received on my lock screen of my iPhone, but when I go to check the Messages app, no new iMessages have come through. iMessages that I send from Messages do not show up in my conversations on my phone, and vice versa. Also I was made aware by a friend, that when I use Messages I somehow start a new text thread with him; now he has two ongoing conversations with me in his texts.
Any idea what's going on? My phone number is synched to my Apple ID, and I'm at a loss.

Spell checking should be based on the keyboard layout that you've got selected in Settings > General > Keyboard > International Keyboards - if you have an English 'UK keyboard' selected then the spell checking should be English

Spell check replies and message forwards

Hi,
Spell check checks OK, either as I type or the whole message before sending. Unfortunately, it also checks the ORIGINAL message(s) in those instances where I am replying to someone else's message, or forwarding an original message to a third party.
I know that in MS Outlook it is a simple selection to check ONLY the message that one is composing and ignore the preceeding message(s).
Is there some way that I can achieve this in Mail?

I'm informed that's just how it is, although a way for the spell-check software to discriminate between original content and prior or forwarded messages is on the list for development.
Doesn't seems as though it would be mysterious, dunno.
