No startup status bar anymore?

Has anyone encountered the lack of the loading bar for leopard? i remember in tiger, after the inital grey apple, another box would appear saying os x was loading with a moving bar.
now in leopard it's gone missing?

I noticed this wasnt there anymore also. I guess its not a big deal though but it did kinda make me think it was loading quicker when i saw the bar shoot across in Tiger :oD
It may be that only slower machines see it. Hopefully anyway. Personally i would rather see a slow moving status bar than a blank screen but then i do tend to like to know whats going on.

In 11.0.4, is there a combined status bar for all categories and their breakdown of the total? Is there a status "bar" anymore in bar form, or just in text for each individual category?

Screen flashing grey after startup and no status bar

Recently, whenever I try on my mac for the first few minutes after the startup, the screen starts flashing to grey and back.
After the flashing stops, I got no status bar. I can still press the buttons there (Wifi, Bluetooth, etc) but cannot see them (as seen in image).
Does anyone have any clue what it might be?

Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Does anyone see a status bar on startup?

After installing Yosemite on a 2011 MacBook air, I see a status bar on the grey screen during startup. Don't anyone else? I don't get it on a MacBook pro.

Everyone running Yosemite sees it. It's normal, it's the progress bar (used to be a little spinning wheel)

There's a huge blank white screen below the status bar, that covers half of the screen in 3.6

I have v. 3.6.8. It will display blank white pages at some site and not at others. I use safe mode and the access is reversed... what used to open doesn't and what didn't does. . .
Is anyone trying to fix this problem - or are users just left to chasing their tails on this issue?

Restored my Macbook Pro but my iTunes content was saved on a separate partition. When I re-setup iTunes the status bar reports 30gb less content than my iTunes Music folder. How can I find what is 'missing'?

My Macbook Pro software was failing and the Apple Store was able to restore it without removing the partition on my hard drive that contained most of my files including all my iTunes content. Initially when I re-setup my library I simply went to file--> add to library. Shortly after I realized that was essentially copying the library to the other portion of the partition because I forgot to change the location of the library. So I deleted the content already copied & then I re-setup the library, by asking it to be pulled from the previous location using this pages advice: iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
It appeared to work & everything I thought was imported. But on closer inspection, it appears that I have 30gbs less appearing on the status bar in the iTunes app than I do when I pull up the info on the iTunes Music folder in my finder. I'm not sure if this means somehow I have 30gbs of duplicates in my finder folder or if (most likely) I somehow didn't fully import the library from that file. Any advice? Is there a way to restore iTunes to factory settings again & set it up correctly this time?
Also I never actually trashed the original content I accidentally transferred to the other drive but when i skimmed those in my trash bin it appears they ARE indeed in iTunes, so I have no clue what didn't actually import. Any ideas?! I'd greatly appreciate it!

You could have all the computers point to the same library but it can't be opened by more than one at any time.
No answer for knowing which library is in use other than selecting it at startup. This question gets asked here occasionally but I don't think it is a high-demand feature since most people have just one library. I guess you could put in an empty playlist with the library name so you have an identifier.

Status bar prerequisite - will not pass v28 until returned

So, updated to 29 on both my Win7 & XP machines before I realized the problem:
Mozilla is heck bent on hiding stuff from me.
Read another (now closed) discussion of the loss of the status bar. I think this is the first time they pronounced the status bar dead. Tried the view-toolbars-addon and it's not there anymore.
So, went back to 28 and will stay there until the status bar is returned or it becomes so obsolete that I'll have to return to IE.
On my Win7Ult machine, it was easy - just the last restore point before I installed 29 and there it was. Doesn't wotk on XP, but luckily there's an FTP site that has copies of every version you can think of. I chose the last eng-us.28 and installed it over 29. I was surprised that the installation didn't notice and balk at it. also surprised it didn't crash and burn, but I'm writing this on that now and all seems OK.

It's this: the status bar is the darling of an overwhelming majority of Windows programs. I think this is like the third time they stole my status bar. Stealing the status bar is proof positive that Mozilla hates its users - by moving everything that used to be on the status bar to varied and sundry places, they have effectively chosen to hide things from their users and I find this inexcusably beyond the pale. For instance, they say it moved "add ons" to it's own 'addon' toolbar, which is NOT on by default. You see, they hid it. MY QUESTION IS - HOW TO GET MOZILLA TO STOP DOING THIS REPREHENSIBLE THING and return my browser to the way I like it. As I said in the subject "status bar is a requirement for my continued support". don't write back that I have to accept it or lump it. I'm on 'strike28' until the status bar is returned. If it is not, then I'll be going WHERE EVERY OTHER BROWSER VALUES THE STATUS BAR LIKE I DO". As a side note, several months ago Thunderbird did a really odd security update that destroyed my ability to send Email. I'm now a happy web mail user and nobody is trying to destroy my ability to use their product. If they had a mandate of 'intuitive changes', it would be different, but hiding things you are used to seeing in a place the WHOLE INDUSTRY is in agreement, this is the death knell to my interest, if not the product itself. So, for those interested, I'm still using v28 and things are working well still. But in all this time, a couple of simple, yet salient points have arisen (arose?) in my head. 1) Mozilla keeps trying to get rid of the status bar and folks of my ilk get all agitated and it dawns on me - have they ever said WHY they want to get rid of the status bar? Do they not like me having a tall enough area at the bottom to click on to bring the window to the front? Namely, when is firefox going to be finished? I mean, more than a decade ago they finished Media Player Classic and you cannot believe how wonderful it is that something just works! The problem with this "forever development" (aside from doing idiot things like 'let us get rid of the status bar') is that things are seriously backsliding. Used to be a product would be in beta and then a few tweaks and then it was finished. Yes, there were later versions (I have NO interest in MPC home theater - ruins the good stuff and gives me nothing). It's like "since we'll never finish this project, we can slide all the way back to pre-beta (alpha?) and have everyone disturbed by what are they going to change next, just to keep some jobs. Ruin the experience and ruin the reputation and then I see no reason to come to your sandbox anymore. Someday I'll have to relate the arrogance of Forte` Agent that screwed them the pooch (it's not OUR problem, it's an issue in all microsoft operating systems!). Anyway, I see the question asked "when are they going to put back the status bar" and there is only this pseudo answer of "they won't because there's an add-on". How about "when will they stop defeating the add-on that defeats their attempt to get rid of the status bar. I mentioned that with the v29 debacle, sure enough there was a new add-on to take care of that. So, how many add-ons does it take to get them to JUST LET ME HAVE THE DAMM STATUS BAR, OK? pcG

I want to show a status bar that needs to be persistent on a page. for this I used the following in my master page

Status bar in CS4 doesn't show print preview

Hi,
From what I've seen, not too many people used that... but I just noticed that Photoshop CS4 lacks a feature present in previous versions...
In CS3, for example, we could click on the Status bar to get a preview of the printed dimension of our image... but it gone now.

When we clicked on the status bar, it gave us an overview of the printed file size. When we Alt+Click on it, it gave us the informations that we can now see when we click the status bar. When we Ctrl+click, it gave us the same info as when we Ctrl+Click now... That means that the Ctrl+Click was kept and that the left click was replaced by the content of the old Alt+Click...but the regular left click isn't present anymore...
Anybody have any idea where is that feature now or why they removed it? For those who knew about it, it was a very pleasing feature...

What happened to the Safari status bar?

Before Lion Safari used to have a nice little piece of functionality in the Status Bar. Before I ask, let me explain what *didn't* change. Still functioning in the status bar is notification that the link you're hovering over wil open up in a new tab (or window based on your settings). See the image here

What *is not* happening anymore is this notification when you would like to open a link in a new tab (that otherwise would not) by holding down the command key. For example, you are on yahoo.com hovering over a link to an article. If you leave your mouse pointer over that link and then hold the command key down, the "in a new tab" note at the end of the URL in the status bar doesn't show up. This also worked for holding down the option key (download) and holding shift+command (in a new tab behind the current one).
I hope I am explaining this correctly, let me know if not.

Stopping or Removing Status Bar Icon (Android)

I use my phone for many things and BT SmartTalk is a small part/aspect. And with limited screen space, I definately can't justofy another icon in the status bar and the SmartTalk App running the entire time. I need to run t when I want then exit.
Using Settings > Apps > Force Exit after every occasional SmartTalk call is just stupid.
So, do BT think they are the only think on a smartphne or how to I get the app to exit and get rid of the icon
(I have already switched the default calling back to the phone as SmartTalk is just an occasional thing).
Interestingly, when I was doing a Google search for the answer, there were quite a few user reviews where loads of people had been saying about this daft icon - so I am far from alone in my wish to get rid of it and get the app to exit and stop using system resources).

GPS-status-bar disappeared from Nokia maps

Why isn't the little gps-status-bar shown anymore in my Nokia maps (3.04)?
Positions methode is set to 'integrated gps' only...
Any thoughts?

It took a bit of getting used to at first but I am used to it now. That's the way it is with any change. Some people get used to and comfortable with things the way they are. Any change at all is uncomfortable but it will just be a matter of time before you get used to it and don't think any more of it.

WiFi icon in status bar disappeared

Hi, two days ago the wifi icon in the status bar just disappeared. I can connect to wifi networks as usual, but no wifi icon is visible anymore. Could this be due to having installed the Accuweather app? This app has a temperature notification in the status bar. However, the wifi icon does not come back even when I switch off Accuweather notifications... I tried rebooting etc, but nothing seems to work. Bizarre.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Open Settings then Personalisation then at the bottom Status bar icons and then check to see if said icon is enabled

Still missing translations for NavBar tooltips and status bar

Again JDev 9.0.3.1 does not have german translations for the following JClient navigation bar tooltips:
- Execute/Re-execute the query
- Cancel Find Mode and switch to previously displayed data
The english status bar shows rowset information like "row 1 / 7 rows / modified: false". With german language we only see "1 / 7" and a funny looking dot instead of the modification info.
903 does not ship the sources of the UIMessageBundles anymore. So how can we correct this? Can we put the 902 source into our projects and add german descriptions ourself? Or can you publish the 903 sources?
The CSMessageBundle_de also contains some empty messages (EXC_DEF_MANDATORY_ATTR_EXCEPTION or EXC_ROW_NOT_AVAILABLE). Are they not used by BC4J?

How do I remove the status bar from iPhone apps on the iPad?

Whenever I go onto an iPhone app on my ipad I have recently had the status bar covering up some of my game. Here is an example: http://i.imgur.com/Q9xnYhT.jpg
As you can see the score is hidden, I have gone through the settings and can't find anything,please help! It only started doing it when I reset my settings and updated to 7.1.

Same problem...seems that this is for apps that are for iPhone and/or for both...but not for ones made just for iPad!
Used to be able to click the 2X and the app would go full screen...not anymore...Apple you need to fix this!!!
