No Stations Showing Up In iTunes Radio?

After making the switch to a Mac, I've been trying to put my favorite radio stations back into a playlist in my iTunes. However, when I click on the "Radio" tab, the radio genre list doesn't show up. The window just stays blank.
Am I doing something wrong here?

You should be able to repopulate your iTunes with the file/add to library option.

  • How does one get a radio station listed in the iTunes Radio Tuner?

    Hi!
I am CIO for Head On Radio Network, http://www.headonradionetwork.com
We have a live 24/7 Liberal/Progressive political talk radio stream which may be found at http://server2.whiterosesociety.org:8000/HeadOnRadioHQ and we would very much like to have this listed in the iTunes Radio Tuner.
We produce 60 hours of original programming every week, and also have permission to do a "The Best Of The Mike Malloy Show" in the wake of his firing by Air America, and that is appearing at 10pm ET every weeknight. When we are not live, we replay recent shows from the live stream.
I think that having HORN on the iTunes player would be an asset to Apple.
Who do I contact? Is there some sort of application form?
    Thank you all so much!
    -Ben Burch

Sorry, but there's no mechanism for getting a station added to the iTunes Tuner list. No one outside of Apple knows who's running the server that maintains the list since 3Com shut down Kerbango, the previous host of the list, and for some unknown reason Apple has not provided any way of contacting the current provider or administrator for making changes or additions.
I can only guess why this is the case; perhaps Apple doesn't want to bog iTunes down with potentially a huge list of stations (there are after all hundreds if not thousands of iTunes-compatible streams available) and so only provides a sampling.
You might want to consider listing your station through Live 365 or ShoutCast or another such streaming service. That would get it to the attention of a lot of people.

  • TS5181 Can't Find iTunes Artist in iTunes Radio Search

There are songs / bands in iTunes for which I can not find showing up in the new iTunes Radio.  Anyone know of a way to manually create a station based on an artist that is indeed in iTunes Store but not showing up on iTunes Radio music search?

    Hi kieranhoare,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Trouble using iTunes Radio

I have a subscription to iTunes Match.
When playing a station I created in iTunes radio, after a few songs, the radio stops and I get an error that says:
'We could not complete your iTunes store request. You are not authorized to access the requested resource - There was an error in the iTunes store, please try again later'.
    Any suggestions?

I'm having issues with the "playing now" button, it's not responding after awhile. I have the iphone 5 and 5s and both don't work. This is only on the iTunes Radio. I tried everything, works in the beginning but after flipping through a few stations the playing now button doesn't work, all other buttons are fine though. You guys having this issue as well?

  • ITunes Radio directory in FStream app

I am a webcaster and my station is listed in iTunes Radio, and plays fine on any desktop. It plays fine on an iPhone using the Shoutcast or FStream apps. However, in FStream/Favorites/Presets, there are webradio directories for SourceMac and iTunes Radio. SourceMac does not carry my station and the iTunes directory in FStream is way out-of-date. There seems no way to contact either one of the developers. Anybody know how to update these directories internal to the FStream app?

Having the same issue on my iPad.  I had it initially after the update, then after a restart it was gone.  Did a hard restart and it does not return.  Twitter is trending the issue as well....any thoughts on what is wrong.  How do I get it back?  And yes I am in the US.  I did restart several times, it works fine in my itunes 11.1 on my desktop

  • Itunes radio on apple tv plays same song

So my Apple TV is being a little weird
Its on Variety, but will skip through tons of songs and just play the same one over and over. (I.e. Girl Crush by Little Big Town on the Country Top 50 station).
I've already done both a RESTART and a RESET, and it still has the same problem, even with other stations.
    Any suggestions??

I am having the same problem.  Here is some info:
    ISP:  Cox
    Router:  ASUS RT-AC68U
Computer:  PC Running Windows 7 in 64-bit mode
    iTunes:  12.1.2.27
    AppleTV:  7.2
iTunes Radio on the PC would just flat out not work.  It would load the song name into the status bar and then just sit there.  You could skip songs and change radio stations with no results.
iTunes Radio on the AppleTVs (I have 2 of them) would work for the first song, then skip 20-30 songs until settling on one to play.  Curiously, it was consistently either the same song again or another song from a group of 3-4 artists.  If left running long enough, it would play only the same 5-6 songs from the same 3-4 artists.  This phenomenon was the same across multiple days of use.
I tried changing my iTunes password, updating my iTunes contact and payment information, flushing and changing DNS servers multiple times, and running trace routes via the Command prompt to check for excessive latency issues.  Nothing.  The only thing that worked was forcing my AppleTV devices to connect to my hot-spotted cellphone (Verizon) and that worked every time.
One thing that HAS worked is to disable the hardware firewall on my router.  So far, so good.
Can anyone from Apple tell me if I can setup certain ports to forward within the router (or something else) so I can re-enable the HW firewall, yet still use iTunes radio successfully?

  • Grey Warning Box after playing iTunes radio?

I've never seen this happen before & I'm not ruling out it's just a coincidence but I was playing a station this morning on iTunes radio & walked away for a few moments. About 10 minutes later I walked back into to the room & iTunes radio stopped & I get this translucent grey box saying I have to press & hold the power button immediately! Right before I'm about to do this the hard drive starts spinning out of of control very fast & loud. I catch it after the HD crazy spin for only a few seconds.
When the prompt to see what happened came up & inadvertently chose the ignore button & can't find out what happened. Does anyone know what may have gone on & was it iTunes Radio or was that just a coincidence?
Just FYI, I just replaced the HD about 1 1/2 ago, the old drive burned out after a solid 4 years of use. So I don't think my HD is about to go out again.

It sounds like your Mac experienced a "kernel panic":

describes how to locate information about the cause of the problem. You can use the Console utility to see the log file that it mentioned.

  • ITunes Radio on Apple TV Automatically Skips through Artists/Songs

Recently when listening to iTunes Radio through my Apple TV it will just start skipping through artists between songs. Sometimes when a song ends a new one will start with no problem. Most times though, it will just start scanning through artists/songs, sometimes scanning through 20-30+ artists before it plays the next song. This just started yesterday and I have the latest update installed. Any clues?

  • ITunes Radio Stations on Remote iPad App

How do you display iTunes Radio stations, including custom stations in the iPad Remote app? I'd prefer to see large tiles the way albums are displayed. I've seen them displayed that way previously, but now I'm stuck with only able to show this category list?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeff

I just stumbled upon this problem too and found that if you press edit on the "more" menu and drag the radios icon to the toolbar, it stays there. I played with this for a while and it doesnt disappear.

  • ITunes Radio My Stations View Style How can I display my stations as a list, or small icons?

I can't find where in the interface to control the View Style, so that my Stations show as a list, vs as Large Icons. At minimum, if List View is not available, I would want to show small icons. Very inefficient. Plus, I already see that some lists, such as "Movie Soundtracks", have really ugly thumbnail cover images.

There's no way to add a station to the Radio section of iTunes, since that list is provided by a server somewhere. There are two different ways, though, to add streaming stations to iTunes depending on whether you know the direct URL to the stream or are adding a link from a broadcaster.
If you have the direct URL (and it needs to be the URL directly to the stream, not a link to a web page),  in iTunes go to 'Advanced' and then 'Open Stream'. Enter or paste the url and the station will begin playing. The link stream then be in your library and you can, if you wish, drag it to a playlist.
To add a playlist from a broadcaster such as Live365, go to the broadcaster and select the station you want. The playlist (a .pls file) should download to your system. If the station does not begin to play in iTunes automatically, double-click or drag and drop the .pls file into the iTunes library window and the playlist's stream will be added to your Library.  Again, once in the library you can drag it to your own playlist if you wish.
As to when, or indeed if, Apple will make any changes to the Radio section, no one here can say.
    Regards.

  • App Gamer iTunes Radio station won't load

On iTunes on Windows, the App Gamer iTunes Radio station no longer loads.  Other iTunes Radio stations work fine.  When I select play it displays the loading bar in the status window, then that disappears and the Apple logo appears.
    Thanks!

    First, try resetting the device:
Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
If this doesn't help, it may be Apple's servers are overloaded/down/whatever. Try again later. That being said, Apple shows no issues with the system at the moment. You can check this here:

  • Does anyone know how or if even possible to block stations and limit content on iTunes Radio?

Does anyone know how or if even possible to block stations and limit content on iTunes Radio?  I have younger children listening to inappropriate music.  I have the iPad locked down but that doesn't seem to help.

Thank you for your response! I just don't want to spend more time on beautifying the libsyn page via hours of dumpster diving for code hence reaching out on here about iWeb (even if it's sadly been put out to pasture). This was the response that I got from Libsyn about this:
    Hello,
Thanks for contacting us. Just to clarify, our system's blog page templates are basic 'starting points' -- we're working now to improve our basic blog page templates to make more options available to Libsyn users.
You might be able to use your Libsyn show's RSS feed to generate content on an iWeb page. You could do a Google search for 'convert RSS to HTML' to learn more. Here's a link for more info about generating HTML content from an RSS feed source:
    http://www.blogtips.org/free-rss-tools/
We appreciate your feedback and suggestions. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Any thoughts? Btw, if it possible to 'view source code' for an iWeb page that's created or to take html code and plaster it into an iWeb page? If that's possible then I might be able to use iWeb for Libsyn.

  • Is it legal to 'stream'  from iTunes radio stations for personal use?

I have tried to search references to this issue on this forum. Apologies if I have missed them.
Is it legal for me to stream songs from iTunes radio stations ( using for example Streamripper) and to subsequently transfer them to my iPod for personal use?
Am I infringing copyright if I do or have the radio stations already paid copyright?
I am sorry to have to ask this very basic question but I can't get clear guidance elsewhere and it bothers me.
    Thank you.

    dlowe,
I'm not a lawyer and this isn't legal advice, but I would use the analogy of video taping your favorite show on TV to watch later (or using a DVR). This, I believe is considered "fair use" of the product via what is called "time-shifting." This was the conclusion from the U.S. Supreme Court in the Betamax decision.
As long as you don't offer the show for sale, I think you're okay.

  • ITunes radio doesn't play songs by artists added to any of my stations

This is a clarification of an earlier question.
So you can create a station with a "seed" which can be an artist, song or genre. Once itunes creates that station you can modify the station with the available "more like this", or "Never again" buttons, but there is also an option in the desktop version below the stations  where you are offered a "play more like this" > "Add artist, song or genre" and itunes is happy to let you fill in any artist and it shows you possible matches from which you can select. That artist is then shown below your original seed in a list for that station. However, itunes has never played any songs by any of the artists I've added to the station via this method even though they are there in plain site as "seeds" for this station. I always have to create a whole new station with the desired artists to get any songs by them. I've had these new artists seeded/listed for months without any songs played by them on the station. Why create this option if it is never functional? What am I missing?

just for clarification this is about Itunes radio and the stations you can create in it.
